Everyone kept hyping me up and hyping me up for Astarion’s personal quest, saying it was going to make me love him more. Instead Tav died, I lost control of the scene, Astarion chose ascension and sacrificed 7,000 souls. And all I could I could think of was, how Minthara is raked over the coals for the grove and then this shit happens. AND ANOTHER THING! no offense, love my rp to death, but I don’t actually like him MORE now, I still feel the same.

[ META ] Ning + Yelan (my curiosity is killing me for your insight on this dynamic)
If Ningguang is Liyue's sun, the visible guide to light the path, then Yelan is it's moon to offer solace from the shadows. If Ningguang is the Queen, then Yelan is her right-hand, the one who can do that which Ningguang cannot. If Ningguang is the velvet glove concealing an iron fist, then Yelan is the pretty smile hiding a poison dagger. They are both necessary to keep Liyue running as it does. Together they could topple empires, should they choose it.
"She's a very interesting character. I can say with the utmost confidence that she is someone I trust unreservedly. She handles herself impeccably, which means she stays beyond reproach. Hehe, since you both have high intelligence in common, hopefully you will get along very well."
The thing that stands out to me here is the unreserved trust that Ningguang has in Yelan. That does not come easily. She's a cautious woman and calculated, such trust would not be given to someone who had not earnt it threefold, nor someone who might break it willingly. It tells me that these two have a bond forged in something far more than chance or over dinner. It's something that has grown and woven over time, that it has been proved in easy times and hard times, in light conversation and times of duress. Yelan's voicelines only confirm this further and I think this is the heart of their dynamic.
Ningguang does not need to know every action Yelan makes, because she trusts her to do it according to the plan set forth. To keep guiding Liyue forward. She trusts that the relevant information will find its way to her desk and the methods with which it was obtained will remain on a need to know basis.

"would you change anything, if given the chance, about your life?", @orchideae asked.
And here she had thought that they had concluded their meeting. The pair had bid each other farewell just mere minutes ago. After years of collaboration and, should she dare say it, friendship, this became routine. Months apart led to a meeting in the Jade Chamber to go over the information collected and address concerns, then they part ways once more. Together one moment, apart the next. Ningguang expected Yelan to have left already, so she had started where she left off on her paperwork. The question stills the Tianquan's hand, making her ponder.
The answer comes without hesitation. She's always been sure of herself, even if the path ahead was mired in strife. What has her perplexed is the intent. Just what is she trying to achieve with this? Yelan knows her. There's very few things she holds tighter in her fist than Mora. However... this isn't about her. No, this invokes an all too familiar scene. One from many years ago, when she found the agent with bleeding hands and a wounded heart and soul.
Upon seeing Baiwen rounding the corner, eye contact and a hand gesture was all that was needed to send her away. A sigh escapes as Ningguang sets her quill down next to the parchment.
❝ No, I would not. ❞
The girl she once was wouldn't survive a day as the Tianquan she became. Red eyes, at long last, turn to hold their gaze with her companion's. ❝ That begs the question: would you? If you are having doubts... my words back then hold even now. ❞

Jace, can I just say that the very first post that you make every day always lifts my mood and puts a smile on my face? It's so evident that you have so much fun on that dear boy, and it's so very contagious. I end up reading almost everything you write, no matter if it's ooc posts, gameplay things, threads, meta, the whole shebang. I just had to leave this here as a little note, in hope it also brightens your day. But thank you. You remain an absolute delight!
Tumblr media
The way I frickin screamed due to your ask timing. Considering how much you've made this heartfelt post.
And the peach agenda just happened to be what I posted just mere moments before. FSDAFNDUSINGFs
But okay! Lemme go and get form fitting and appreciative boots on!
Tumblr media
Let ME be the one to give some good honest thanks in kind for your loving words here Sae. I'm glad that acclimating into the Star Rail side of things have been more solid than I first imagined. It's not too often I join fandoms at the 'starting' mark so to speak, so I expected it to be an uphill battle!
Yet here Caelus was hitting my personal favorite character archetype of golden hearted (and passion strong) delinquents. It was just a framework I personally felt very excited to get into again. As much as I've experimented with characters, character types and giving a wide branch a genuine shot, in many ways it feels like leaning into this vein of character just feels like home irregardless of the RPC I'm in.
Often times whenever you see me hop around here, the first thing I prioritize is having some good fun, in expected or outright unexpected ways. It makes me pretty excited to just interact in general, to make personal character stories through my shared threads alongside of the game's content itself. Being one of the personifications of the Trailblaze, which often means being a guiding force for adventure just-- it hits so many things for me too? I love the as a general premise for rps.
Much as I love my character connections and depths, a world and it's lore, how it mirrors and bounces off the core concept and characters is just part of the formula for me. As it stands, the varied range that Star Rail introduces to me has gradually reignited my vigor to just go and mold some of my own works out here, and hope everyone who come and chills wit hem can have a genuinely good time themselves.
I'm also glad that at some point of the day, it just gives you a fun read. Whether for a laugh or just to ponder something about the series in question, and urge you to also maneuver you own craft of character study into the mix as well!
Genuinely? That's what the hobby is all about for me at the end of the day. I just want to come on and goof off with people, and to curate this particular space so people get the idea they're just hanging out at a table where they can screw around in kind.
Fite me for putting a smile on my face.
@orchideae out here getting a guy in the feels!

@orchideae sent: "Fontainians sure are something else. Do you know what they celebrate today?" The heels of her boots tapped against the wooden boards of the Alcor perhaps a little too loudly when she finally boarded, the grin kept tightly lodged behind closed lips that instead, lingered in a smile of both judgement or growing gaiety. But only slightly so. Claiming her spot aside the ship's captain, the box she'd held in hand seemed almost too intentionally held on display, rested on the railing as it was, a temptation to any of curious nature. Heart-shaped, enveloped in a wrapping paper so vibrantly golden that even Ningguang would surely grow envious of it, and tied with about three different vibrantly colored ribbons of which one was even sparkling radiantly due to the sun hung overhead. "It's the day of love. They've been leading up to it for days now, the city's been impossible to navigate." The box was turned from one side to the other a time or two, as if a moment was taken to scrutinize its design. "But I think I managed well enough." A little nod in the distance showed a much smaller boat slowly approaching them, one pretty obviously at full capacity, drowning the two individuals on it amidst all the bags and boxes around them. "There's some in there for your crew, too, and— oh, before I forget, careful with the containers on top, I may have stopped by the Hotel Debord to pick up some local delicacies for a feast tonight." And just then, Yelan held out the box in offer, accompanied by a wink of relative sly nature, and a chuckle she could no longer contain. "Happy Valentine's day, captain Beidou." She would have a field day with this every year, from this day forward.
(As for the gifts? There's numerous boxes in there holding all kinds of delicacies for the crew, but most of it is for Beidou, of course. The same delicacies for her and then some, there's also numerous packages containing trinkets for in her hair that are typical of Fontaine even if the color scheme is lightly off, because sorry Beidou, Fontaine likes its blues! There's also a larger, but thinner box in which she will find a beautifully intricate Fontainian dress in her trademark red [Yelan may have insisted on the color], with a note on top that says: 'Do you think this will outdo hers? Don't keep her waiting', because if you don't think she doesn't tease Beidou about Ning ESPECIALLY after seeing Ning in that specific dress once? Yeah, okay. But the main present is hidden within a gorgeous mahogany box that has Beidou's initial carved into its top in relatively decorative calligraphy, and there's golden accents lining it throughout. Inside of the box is the gift: a beautifully adorned gun, lined even more intricately than the box itself with the same accent colors, and if you look at the handle, it has Beidou's initial engraved into it in a similar fashion, along with engravings of vicious waves along the gun's barrel, and if you really look at the details [Yelan is a woman of detail, come on]— you might even see a recognizable ship. And lastly, is the note, which is simpler than any of the gifts: 'Happy birthday, Beidou.')
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“ The day of love? ” Beidou's brow arched as Yelan joined her on the Alcor's quarterdeck, a map of the sea connecting Romaritime Harbour with Yilong Wharf spread open on the table in front of her. She'd been learning all sorts of things about their northern neighbours over the past few months — and though she'd taken particular interest herself in the unique quality of the water in Fontaine, and the geography of the huge waterfall that lifted the nation above sea level, she'd learned plenty about the culture from the aforementioned friend and esteemed colleague beside her. She should be flattered, really, that the Fontainians had picked her own special day of the year to celebrate love in all its forms, though she hoped the trend wouldn't spread to Liyue and truly overshadow it. At least there, the day still belonged to her and her alone. The heart-shaped box placed in front of her quickly piqued Beidou's curiosity. “ And you've forsaken your so-called Duke to spend it with me? ” After that, there was no way that Beidou couldn't tease Yelan, just a little.
Though she quickly regretted her flippancy at the nod over Yelan's shoulder to the shallow waters over the railing, where a small dinghy approached the Alcor completely overloaded with crates and bags. Her eyes went wide, and before she knew it her boots had carried her over to the railing itself, watching as the poor sailors on it attempted to secure the craft to the hull of her ship so that they could begin unloading. Any hesitation one might have gauged in their captain's demeanour vanished as quickly as it appeared. “ Have it taken below, Juza, and see to it that anything personally addressed — ” she cast a pointed look in Yelan's direction, “ is taken to my cabin. ”
As always, Juza and the rest of the crew sprung into action, and Beidou's attention once again swung back to her friend. “ Seriously, Yelan, there was no need to go to all this trouble on my account. I don't even know what to say. Thank you. ” Sure, the Alcor never forgot their captain's birthday, but Beidou was always grateful no matter how small the gifts she received. Members of the Crux were paid fairly, but she never expected their income to go towards luxurious gifts for her. This was something new. She smiled, and slightly clasped Yelan's shoulder. “ This feast'll be one to remember. ”
Little did she know that this feast would be the perfect opportunity to test-run the dress that would soon find its way to her living quarters.

@orchideae asked : “You have my attention - now do something with it.” (Hi, hello! 💙) // 𝐁𝐆𝟑 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬.
Tumblr media
So much time spent nudging all the pieces into place, and while it had been exciting at first, his patience for all this subterfuge had worn thin rather quickly. Never mind that a few of his most trusted subordinates had helped with most of it. Although he would much rather leap into his research on those sigils, there were a few prying eyes they had to direct elsewhere first.
Now that she stood before him, he found himself lamenting the limits his status as a diplomat put on him. Intelligent, deadly, she was a warrior. . . perhaps there would be room for a fight when his business was finished.
He grins down at her from his perch on the back of a smoking ruin guard slumped over itself, spinning its core in his gloved fingers. One legs swings down, his heel thumping now and then against the twisted metal.
❝ You're a very hard lady to track down. ❞ He tosses the core from one hand to the other with a laugh that makes up with volume what it lacks in genuine warmth. ❝ I guess it's my lucky day, meeting you here. ❞
He holds the core up to the sun, but his attention never wavers from the dangerous woman in the corner of his gaze.
❝ I wasn't expecting Liyue to have so many of these things wandering around the countryside. Not that I'm complaining, they're a good way to stretch the muscles, you know? But then I noticed some of them were a little odd. ❞
He pats his free hand against its shoulders, where a conspicuously square hole gapes in its back.
❝ Some of them weren't even trying to shoot me! So I decided to look closer, and what do you know, someone is taking their parts. ❞
With some generous help from undercover Fatui, of course. Childe is sure those idiot Treasure Hoarders couldn't get close to a ruin guard, much less open one up, without help.
❝ Consider this a diplomatic gift, won't you? Makes my life complicated if someone starts causing trouble with ruin guard parts and it gets blamed on me. And I'm sure this is something you'd want to keep an eye on, hm? ❞
With his spiel finished, his grin sharpens and he tosses the core down to her - a physical gift, to seal his little 'gift' of information.

@orchideae asked: End of 2023! Lyria, I came across you on Guizhong numerous months ago, and I still count you as one of the big treasures in this fandom in terms of the sheer magnificence that is your mind. No matter where I may go within Genshin (though I plan to stick to Yelan for a longer time) and anywhere else where interaction is possible, you will be a staple on that dashboard without a second's worth of hesitation. You are a favorite, and whenever I see you on the dashboard, especially your metas and theorizing, I make sure to fetch myself an extra cup of tea as to really enjoy the read I'm about to embark on as thoroughly as possible. Honestly, you're one heck of a writer, and I look forward to seeing you be as much of a part of my dashboard in 2024 as you have been in 2023. Thank you, and have the loveliest of New Year's Eves, my dear. <3
Tumblr media
Excuse me as I come down from my short circuit for reading this, because I'm really humbled to see that you feel that way as someone whose worldbuilding and character headcanons are kilometric and worth every second of reading! Specially coming from characters that have more or less content to go by (Yelan and Guizhong), you still make it look so seamless every time you pour your thoughts on both, specially on Yelan now. Know that even if we didn't get to interact IC properly, I would love to scratch my brain to find ways to make it happen with your Yelan if you would like too and that I'm looking forward to continue our partnership in this wild ride that is RP in the Genshin fandom ♥︎

@orchideae gets a lunch break drabble
Wriothesley knows he's tough. He can take a lot - more than most - in fact withstanding pain and hardship is a strength of his he's had to rely on quite a bit in the past and for all his faults this is something he never had a doubt about.
Until now. Until her.
The pain is almost unbearable. It feels like his heart is stuttering, pumping blood through his veins too hot and too quickly with no end in sight. He's so hot there are pearls of sweat on his forehead and his upper lip, even though he's taken off his jacket and opened his shirt a little wider. His collar is nowhere near his neck and yet it feels like it's choking him, pressing down on his windpipe that seems to let through nothing but steaming air, impossible to breathe, and his esophagus that's transporting magma from the literal Abyss down into his stomach.
(The stomach he doesn't even want to think about right now.)
He can't tell if the food in his mouth is tasty, if it's salty, sweet or any other flavor under the sun. It's bitter and painful and if he wasn't trying so hard to not be completely dramatic about this, he'd think his tongue is bleeding. The amount of food still left in his bowl that he sees through a blurry filter of tears fills him with dread. There's no way out of this without either admitting defeat or making the Coupon Cafeteria his designated grave.
Tumblr media
And there she sits, opposite of him, cheerfully eating the same abyssal dish with infuriatingly small bites and a smile on her lips that never fades. Like she doesn't even notice a hint of spice in it. In a fit of desperation Wriothesley reaches for the large glass of water in front of him and drinks it all in one go. It helps for roughly the fraction of a second before the pain returns tenfold and he can't help his face contorting in discomfort.
"It's.. .. a little spicy," he croaks.

@orchideae: "Is this seat taken? I apologize, it's more crowded than it was last night."
Tumblr media
𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐞𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞, 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐞, can it surge from the boundaries of the shores and lay claim to all that’d crawled forth from its depths. This is a truth he has always known, that any creature with enough affinity to his element should and will always know. Life and death balanced upon each hand and somewhere between, somewhere beyond is rebirth. A cycle that starts anew.
For all his command of the water, in the end he is nothing but a reflection of the people who surround him now. They drown beneath the waves and surface once more, and they prove themselves to be more resilient to the turmoil. He watches in the wake of a thousand changes, where men and women resume their daily lives and wonders at how much has seemingly remained as it once was, in reality has the very fundamental parts of his heart and soul shifted and transformed to something new.
Or restored to something old is a more fitting thought.
With a world that allows itself to shift with the changing tides, he too allows himself further indulgences. He walks among his people now, sits at their cafes and watches their performances. And even if he no longer has reason to observe and to learn, the habit remains, the curiosity that ever sits at the edges of his thoughts as he listens to the quiet murmur of conversation. Stilted and awkward as it is, with himself in the amidst of it all. Some things take time, as he’s always known as well.
This is how he knows when the woman takes the seat before him after a slight nod in affirmation, that she must be an outsider. Those born of Fontaine know him to be their Chief Justice, recognize him on sight and therefore hold him apart. And the ones who blithely force their way into his presence are the ones who deserve some measure of scrutiny. It was after all, such individuals who had brought forth sweeping and lasting change through not just his life, but all of Fontaine as well.
Tumblr media
“The Café Chambord is one of Fontaine’s most renowned establishments, and, given its considerable volume at present, one might consider it to be poor manners indeed to occupy so many seats when just one should be enough.” In fact, he hadn’t considered just how he might have inconvenienced others as such as this woman before him for a simple indulgence. “My apologies, if you’d been waiting over long for a table. If you would like, I can take my leave.”

He's lain on this couch more times than he can count - to read, to take a nap, to think - but in all the years he's spent down here he's never had a pillow he enjoyed quite as much as this one. It's hard to stay awake like this; his eyes are closed and his head rested comfortably on her supple thighs, slender fingers combing through his hair and leaving a pleasant tingling sensation in their wake. Sleep is tugging at his limbs but he doesn't want to give in, doesn't want to fall into a dream and miss even a single minute of her presence, of which there are too few as it is.
Tumblr media
He never knows how much time he has before she disappears like the shadows fleeing from the light. Technically he knows about every rat that leaves or enters this place, every word that is whispered, every plot that is born; there's nothing that escapes his attention and no one outside of his reach.
Except her.
She's the one thing he cannot control or even keep his gaze on, no matter how hard he tries not to blink. Naturally, he knows that she can't stay with him down here. Even if her story was a simpler one and she was born to the nation of the Hydro Archon she wouldn't choose to live in a No Man's Land, not even beside its king. In some ways he's glad that the lot they're dealt is rendering even the thought of it impossible - as reasonable as he chooses to be about it, he wouldn't want to hear her deny him.
"Have you forgotten about your book?" Wriothesley asks, noticing that he hasn't heard a single page turning since her fingers have found their way into his hair. She seemed genuinely interested in this particular volume earlier but perhaps her curiosity was of a different nature. It's good if she doesn't read it now, it gives her a reason to stay longer - or come back. That, after all, is his favorite thing about her leaving: the prospect of her return.

"You answer a different question than the one I asked." (for Ning! I read it and went, isn't this just fitting from both sides/ends?)
"Perhaps..."
Tumblr media
The enigmatic smile that lingers upon her lips says otherwise, that perhaps her words did not answer the question that was asked, but instead gave the answer that was sought beneath it all. Had they not been working in tandem long enough to know that sometimes what is being said is not what is meant? That the riddle is not within the direct but the covert?
She leans back in her chair, quite at ease within current company, letting arms fold across her chest as she tips her head, studying the woman opposite her with a keen gaze. That which she sees settles her thoughts, though explain it she does not. Instead she hums and turns her gaze upon the documents upon her desk, nothing so interesting but the latest reports generated for all of the Qixing, nothing of any higher importance would be allowed such a public setting, instead locked within the safety of the Jade Chamber.
"Yet should you ask it again, my answer would remain the same... quite the interesting conundrum, is it not?"

@orchideae sent: There was a chuckle almost deafened to silence amidst the crash of waves to the hull of the Alcor. But as always, it remained steady and ever unwavering, much as she who stood before her now. "You know, you’re not half as bad as everyone says you are, captain." (Beidou, Beidou, Beidou, girl, please give me Beidou for the love of all that is unholy for I have been perishing)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Alcor was a flurry of activity, sailors hurrying to and from their posts as preparations were made to brace the storm that engulfed Inazuma, but her captain remained steadfast, unfazed. The Raiden Shogun's eternal will, a tempest of torrential rain and lightning designed to isolate her nation from the rest of Teyvat, was still some hours away, but Beidou could feel the winds picking up as they whipped her dark hair around her face, the spray from the sea more refreshing than usual, the crash of waves against the ship's hull far louder than it had been while anchored off Guyun Stone Forest. She was not concerned, leaning back casually against the ship's railing. Storm chasing was in her blood — and besides, this was not the first time she had navigated this strait and docked safely in Ritou. This would be no different.
As Yelan came into view, her words prompted a short laugh to escape Beidou's lips. “ This is what happens when you stop talking to Ningguang. The Tianquan is my fiercest critic. ” She wasn't supposed to know who Yelan was, but Beidou wouldn't escort anyone to a place like Inazuma without good cause. This was something that Ningguang would simply have to trust her with. Amusement flickered in her eye as it darted towards her companion. “ Whatever people would say of me, I wouldn't say I was bad at any of it. ”
