If done right, maybe. To be honest, it’s very hard for me to blindly ship a character with any Dorcas just so they can “kick ass.” First and foremost, I see Dorcas as a person married to the war. It’s the air she breathes and the food that she eats. It’s why relationships for her have so much buildup. I don’t know. I never really get the lesbian vibe from her? I understand the appeal of the Dorcas and Marlene ship just eh, not for me. Even as far as straight ships go, the war is her first love. It’s her rise and downfall. The blood she spills, the screams she yells, and the duels fought is her story. Everything else, lovers ( whoever they are, names and gender alike ) is a secondary story. It’s not the fact that it’s the ship that bothers me - it’s all the characters they’re talking about are. It’s dry and boring. Just the tags for Dorcas and even Marlene are such a drag. I just want something of essence for a change - but, alas, the curse of minor characters in this fandom. On a secondary note, everyone likes to portray Dorcas as this constant worrier and skiddish to fight. Like, please, Voldemort had to get off his ass and kill this bitch. It just strengthens the fact that Dorcas’s life is the war and not anything else while Marlene was noted with her family. “That’s Marlene McKinnon, she died two weeks after this was taken. THEY GOT HER WHOLE FAMILY.” Like, I would rather read about the McKinnon clan because even fourteen years laters, it’s such a dyer piece of information that the family was probably close knit. Not saying Marlene wasn’t a badass kicking ass but just her whole family fought in the war even if they weren’t a part of the Order. Just, fuck ships and give me justifications for the small facts we know to make these people human because they’re more than romance, straight and gay and bi alike. Give me the gritty of having relationships ( of any sorts ) during the time of war. With people fighting in the front lines. Give me the pain. Have one or both go so numb with it all that they ring off the rails. Stop making everything so bubblegum and cotton candy and unicorn farting. The war doesn’t go away because you walk through the front door. At some point, you take it home with you. It destroys you. It makes you. Give me characters who refuse to partake in relationships because that isn’t their life. It’s not their mission. They refuse to love what they know the other is: just another tombstone. Ugh - just actual angst. 

okay but honestly. dorcas and marlene being lovers and kicking arse would be pretty cool.
