INVITED: Thai Orchid has a new branch on Broadway in Nedlands @thai_orchid_nedlands_ and we had the following (some dishes were repeat orders from the South Perth visit @thai_orchid_south_perth as those were their signatures): - Po Tak: Mixed seafood soup with lemongrass, basil, galanga, lime leaves, mushrooms and fresh chilli $15 - Tom Khar Gai: Coconut chicken soup with creamy coconut milk and galanga $13 - Spring rolls: chicken: Minced chicken, vermicelli, cabbage and carrot, wrapped in pastry. Deep-fried and served with sweet chilli sauce. $9.50 - GANG KEOW WAN ( Green Curry ): Famous Thai green curry simmered in aromatic coconut cream, kaffir lime leaves, basil and vegetables. Choose from chicken, beef, lamb, prawns, or vegetables. (Pictured is chicken) $27 - PAD PAK RUAMMITHR (Mixed Vegetables Stir - Fry): Mixed vegetables stir fried with chinese broccoli, broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, capsicum and mushrooms. $23 - KAO PAD SUP PRA ROD (Thai Pineapple Fried Rice): Stir-fried rice with cashew nut, onion, shallot, and pineapple. Choose from chicken, beef, pork, or prawns. Pictured is pork $29 - ANDAMAN PEARL: Deep fried whole fish (barramundi) topped over with spicy red curry paste $45 - Young coconut juice $6 each Favourites were the ANDAMAN Pearl - delicious and crispy barramundi, creamy & flavoursome green curry and the fragrant pineapple fried rice. SALUNG THAI 🇹🇭 // SUKHO THAI NOODLES (Soup; rice noodles) ~ Spicy, sour noodle soup served with pork mince, boiled egg, fish ball, dried shrimp, roasted peanuts, green beans and BBQ pork and BOAT NOODLES (Guay taw reua): Thai beef egg noodles and kailan in a thick broth; aud14.90 each from Sa-lung Thai, North Perth. Love the clear broth of the Sukho Thai noodles which was slightly spicy and sour at the same time - so appetising! Boat noodles were flavoursome with tender beef slices. Will definitely be back. Have ordered from them on UberEats but first time dining in and the experience is just unparalleled. I always prefer dining in at restaurants if possible - food’s better and it supports businesses better as food delivery apps take away 30-35% commission away from the restaurants. Menu on @perthfoodmenu or click #PFR_ThaiOrchid We ordered the following to try: - Andaman Pearl: deep fried barramundi topped over with spicy red curry paste $40 - Flying Duck: grilled roasted duck topped with plum and chilli jam sauce on a bed of crispy noodle and broccoli $30 - Prawns Pad Thai $24 - Yum Plamuk: squid salad $25 - Thai Fish Cakes $12 - Friendship never ends: prawn spring rolls served with plum sauce $8 - Po Tak: mixed seafood soup with lemongrass, basil, galangal, lime leave, mushroom and fresh chilli $12 - Tom Yum Goong: spicy prawn soup with lemongrass, mushroom, lime leaves and coriander $10 - Sticky Rice with mango $8 Our favourites of the night were the deep fried barramundi with tasty red curry paste, Pad Thai with juicy, bouncy prawns, deliciously fragrant and appetising Po Tak soup (clear soup), prawn “spring rolls” (pic8) and mango sticky rice. Super spoilt with such a feast. We were surprised by the beautiful decor and ambiance of the restaurant upon entering. We didn’t know such a restaurant was hidden near the South Perth foreshore - best to come here on weeknights as they can be quite busy on weekends with takeaway orders and also dine-ins. There were quite a lot of people waiting to takeaway when we walked in at 7pm so it might be a good idea to dine at an earlier time here too. 😉 Thank you so much to Sony for the invitation and lovely hospitality.
