Empowering Fisheries, A Journey of Innovation and Collaboration in Technopreneurship (Game 3 Insights)
In our recent group activity called Game 3, we worked together to imagine a better future. We focused on helping small fishermen who struggle to keep their catch fresh because they lack affordable refrigeration. We came up with the idea of solar-powered iceboxes that could help preserve fish without harming the environment with styrofoam.
During our activity, we talked to fishermen, fish sellers, and customers to understand their needs better. We found out that many fishermen lose money because their fish spoil quickly, and they need better ways to keep them fresh. Our interviews helped us see the importance of making our iceboxes bigger and stronger to hold more fish.
From our discussions, we learned that keeping fish fresh is just one part of the problem. We also need to make sure the fish stay cold from the moment they're caught until they're sold. Talking to fish sellers showed us that they could be important partners in spreading the word about our solution to customers.
Looking back on our activity, we see that we need to keep listening to the people we're trying to help. We also need to work together closely to make sure our ideas become real solutions. Our goal is to keep improving and finding ways to make life better for fishermen and everyone involved in the fishing industry

This week was a big turning point in our ongoing project to create portable thermoelectric iceboxes since we asked our teacher for advice and submitted our progress report. The insightful input we received helped us navigate the complex world of sustainable solutions for small-scale fishers and highlighted the significance of continuing to interact with important stakeholders.
The consultation session was an important opportunity for introspection and improvement, highlighting the need for a more thorough comprehension of the difficulties experienced by fish sellers, customers, and fishermen. By highlighting the crucial function of direct interaction through interviews to gain deeper insights into the requirements and preferences of our target audience, our teacher's observations highlighted areas where our approach may be better.
Equipped with a fresh sense of direction and determination, we're determined to step up the number of interviews we do with fishermen, fish vendors, and consumers. These exchanges are essential for both co-creating solutions that meet the needs and goals of the people we aim to assist, as well as for verifying our theories.
Our focus remains unwavering on establishing meaningful connections and fostering a sense of shared ownership among all stakeholders. We seek to bring together various viewpoints into a cogent story that guides the creation of creative and long-lasting solutions for the fishing community by active listening, empathy, and teamwork.
Finally, we would like to say that the progress report and consultation session have given our project to create portable thermoelectric iceboxes new life and purpose. We are getting closer to realizing our common goal of empowering small-scale fishermen and encouraging environmental stewardship in the fishing sector with every interview. We set out on a path of self-discovery, resiliency, and group action together, driven by the unyielding will to bring about positive change in the world.

Everything You Need to Know About 12 Volt Fridges
If you’re looking for a better way to keep your food and drinks cold and well-preserved during road trips or weekend adventures, you might want to check out a 12 volt fridge. It’s a better alternative to a regular icebox because it won’t require you to occasionally refill it with ice. It will keep running off your vehicle’s 12-volt batteries without draining them. This guide will give you more information about this portable appliance and how you can find the best one.
How does it keep the contents cold?
The 12 volt fridge works similarly to your home fridge, but this time, it’s designed to work more efficiently using the vehicle battery as the power source. If you hook up a regular home fridge to your RV’s battery with an inverter, it’s likely to drain the power source in minutes.
As a 12-volt appliance, the fridge requires a deep cycle battery that’s designed for low discharge to continuously power appliances that require a low and steady power current. The fridge can also run with power coming from solar panels.
Types of 12 volt fridges
Manufacturers are innovative and have come up with different types of 12-volt fridges that run on low energy. For instance, there’s the thermoelectric 12V cooler, which efficiently keeps food cool within a limited period. If you want something better, consider a 12V portable compressor fridge, which offers enhanced chilling capabilities and power efficiency.
If you’re looking for a permanently installed model then look to an upright compressor fridge. These fridges are very efficient and can store a lot more food and drinks (depending on the sizing). These fridges range from 45L up to a massive 230L. They are resistant to hot environments, too.
Features
If you’re choosing a portable 12 volt fridge option then you’ll need to ensure it has features that will make it easier to transport. So, look for handles and sturdy wheels. It’s likely to join your adventures in tough environments, so make sure it has a rugged design that can take a beating.
Brands matter
Get a 12 volt fridge from market-leading names like Bushman, Dometic, Engel, Vitrifrigo, Thetford, and Evakool. Their products come with good warranties while being backed by an extensive support network.

Portable Camping Fridge Buying guide – What to look in a camping fridge!
The task of finding a great value camping fridge that does exactly what you expect can be daunting, but when you are armed with knowledge about the features you should be looking for, you can start shopping without the fear of picking up a dud, that cost you way more than you needed to pay.
To start with there are 3 main types of portable camping “fridge” that are available on the market, identifying which one you are looking at will help a lot in narrowing down your search!
The first style is a thermo-electric system, these are the least effective and use a thermoelectric ceramic that allows the heat within the cooler to be “sucked out” via a small thermoelectric element, and usually have the ability to reduce the temperature by about 15-20 degrees below ambient.  They are on the cheaper end of the scale, but in real world usage, you will find that using a small icebox, or cooler bag with ice bricks will be more efficient at keeping refreshments cool. Despite the affordable price, the ‘Peltier’ technology used in these units has a long way to go before it can compete with the next 2 categories of portable refrigerators.
The next style is a 3-way camping fridge, these are one of the most versatile camping fridge systems out there, with the ability to run off of a 9KG LPG gas bottle, 12v power, or 240v mains power. These systems are effective at reducing temperatures by quite a significant amount, however the way a 3 way camping fridge operates requires heating a solution of ammonia, so whilst operating on gas, the camping fridge is quite efficient, however when operating on 12v, the heating element uses around 75Watts of power, resulting in around 6-7amps of power draw, which is about 5-6 times more power consumption than an equivalent compressor style camping fridge.  So, a small generator like the Adventure Kings 2KVa Generator might be required to operate this system at a reasonable temperature effectively for extended periods of time, making this a slightly less desirable setup.
The last style of refrigerator, is a compressor style portable refrigerator like the Adventure Kings 60l Fridge/Freezer. This style of refrigerator works on the same principal as your refrigerator at home, by compressing a refrigerant and storing the pressurized gas inside a condenser, and releasing the compressed gas in a controlled manner you can quickly and efficiently reduce the temperature of the system, in the same way a gas bottle on a BBQ gets cold after it has been running for a while.
With a compressor style of portable refrigerator you tend to use a lot less energy, as there is less resistance in a system that isn’t trying to generate heat. This means the Adventure Kings compressor fridge uses an average of 0.85 amps/hour, making it one of the most effective ways to keep food and drinks cold, when relying on your vehicles 12v system.
The ability to take advantage of efficient and compact 12v charge systems like an Adventure Kings 120W Solar Blanket to top up the power used by your portable fridge, makes camping fridge systems like the Adventure kings 60L Fridge Freezer extremely popular.
The inclusion of high quality internal components also enhances efficiency. The Adventure Kings 60L Fridge Freezer, offers SECOP components, which are one of the industries most efficient and best quality portable fridge component manufacturers, formally known as (DANFOSS) the BD35F SECOP compressor, offers superb performance, and engineered internal wiring make the Adventure Kings Portable Fridge range, on of the best value for money setups available on the market!
The Adventure Kings 60L Fridge Freezer, takes advantage of clever temperature monitoring circuitry and uses a set and forget temperature controller and digital LCD display for simple to use controls, and as an added bonus you can also prechill your fridge by plugging it into 240v mains power to chill the refrigerator to the desired setting, ready to plug and play inside your vehicle using a standard 12v cigarette lighter plug, resulting in even less power draw for easy use refrigeration for your cold meats, leftovers, and refreshing drinks!
Now you are armed with knowledge about the internal workings that many portable fridges use to stay cold, you can make a better decision about which style best suits your camping needs and setup!
