today’s dispatch from fractal chat:

THIS is a screenshot from an episode of a cbs show called “innovation nation”:

someone in chat posted it like, “I’ve seen that before! That’s by somebody we know, isn’t it?!?!” And indeed, I too had the feeling, “Oh yeah, I’ve definitely seen that exact image.”

So we undertook a brief hunt and lord bless reverse image search, we did indeed figure out who the original artist was: https://www.deviantart.com/prelkia And I mean, I wouldn’t go so far as to say I *know* the guy... but fractal art is a small community. We’ve interacted.

*sigh* I am forever grumpy about fractals being jacked by stock and wallpaper sites. Multiple times I’ve seen an image used as stock in some random place and been like... “wtf. one of my friends made that. i know exactly who made that.” And the worst part is, the end-user of the stock (up to and including motherfucking CBS!!!!!) often has NO idea that they are using a stolen image. like, it’s not even their fault. it’s the fault of some rando much further up the chain who first copied the image from an artist’s website onto their pinterest or something.

what can you even do. :/
