hi there! i'm really sorry for the weird question, but i was wondering if you could maybe reblog my donation post (it's the pinned post on my blog). thank you so much either way, have a nice day!

all right, i’m only going to answer this at all to make things very clear to my followers (which is a group that apparently includes the asker here, although the account does not appear in my actual followers list when i look for it so i am suspicious about the timeframe.)

i do not interact with donation posts. i do not like them (as in “i do not click the like button”) and i do not share them. the last donation post i shared for someone was apparently in early 2019 for a personal friend, and the last time i shared a donation post for someone i don’t actually know was... uh... if my blog archive can be trusted, it was literally as far back as mid-2016. it’s early 2022. that’s five and a half years ago.

the reason i bring that timeframe up is to make very clear that i have not set any precedent recently that i will share donation posts. i have not recently demonstrated that this is something i am willing to do.

this is a personal boundary for the sake of my mental health. reblogging donation posts is something that many, many people are able to do just fine without suffering ill effects mentally. it is not something that i, personally, am able to take on. (and no, i will not divulge my reasons for this.)

furthermore, there are a fuckload of donation scams going on lately. and with this user’s blog locked to the dashboard-only view mode (and its archive therefore inaccessible) i have no way of verifying that they are a real tumblr user as opposed to an automated spam account that came into existence two weeks ago and reblogged a bunch of posts all at once in order to look more like a real user... especially since this ask perfectly follows the format that’s currently in use by a lot of publicly-reported spam accounts.

i don’t have the spoons to manually check the timestamps on this person’s posts to confirm whether or not they are a real user. i’m not even going to block them at this time. but i’m also not going to reblog their donation post, nor anyone else’s.
