IN FIRST PLACE...
                                       [ ♔ ]  FROM TRC ENT ………….  TEAM SIRIUS !
With a loud noise, confetti starts to fall from the sky, congratulating the winners of this season. “Woo!” Tiger JK shouts into his microphone, a hand up in cheers. “You did a great job tonight, one to make TRC proud.” He starts. “You picked yourselves back up from last week’s results and did the best that you could today, as can be proven by these results. You made me proud, which is better than anything else, probably, so you should be proud of that, too.”
He smiles at the contestants below before continuing. “I’d love for HWANG YEJI and LEE CHAERYEONG to join TRC Entertainment. The two of you proved yourselves very well and I’d love to see what more you could do with our help.”
“And me, too,” Baek Jiyoung speaks up. “I’d like to offer KANG HYUNGGU a contract to Sphere Entertainment. I believe your talents would fit us very well, and it’d be a pleasure to have one of the winners in my company… again!” The woman chuckles, looking over at her fellow judges.
“And as for CHOI MINHO…” Tiger JK continues. “None of the companies felt like they could offer you a contract quite yet. But you proved your skills and you are a winner today as well and will receive the other winner rewards. Congratulations.”
The MC quickly takes it away, giving the camera a bright. “This brings this season to an end! All of the performances may be watched on our official channel, and please look forward to what all these contestants will come up with in the future! Thank you for watching, and see you next time!”
OOC: Thank you all who participated or showed an interest in this season of the MGAs. It was a long and arduous trip but we’ve all made it! Congratulations to all of those who survived this long, and hopefully you enjoyed your stay.
Details about the winner rewards will come later in a separate post.
If your muse has been offered a contract, congratulations! It’s been a long and stressful journey, and they deserve this little moment of glory. Be proud!
Everything you need to know regarding the trainee life can be found here. If you have additional questions, feel free to send asks to the rkevent blog or Mod Bianca on tumblr (@rkseungjoon)/twitter (@luvseungjoon) or Mod Gab on tumblr (@rkdoyexn)/twitter (@jindeukii)!
If your muse chooses to accept the offer, feel free to hop over their new company’s blog and sign the contract. Keep in mind that there are no added penalties in case they decide not to be signed! The choice is entirely yours to make, so think carefully before reaching a decision! If your muse decides not to sign their contract, please let us know as well either by messaging a mod or the company’s blog.
To all of those who participated in this episode, feel free to add +3 SHOWCASED PERFORMANCE SKILL to your points sheet. This includes members eliminated on this episode. Please link this post as verification.
Not only that, but all of the finalists will also receive a +1WK VARIETY. You do not need to be a trainee to collect this. You are free to tally up this achievement on your blog even if your muse didn’t sign a contract tonight - however, keep in mind that once your muse gets signed, you will have to add this to their base form as an achievement previously won through MGA SEASON 5.
Before someone asks: Yes, new trainees can take part in this month’s evaluation.

GOOD RIDDANCE.
ღ   𝐌𝐍𝐄𝐓𝐆𝐋𝐎𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐔𝐃𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 SEASON FIVE  ━━  AUGUST 3RD  » THE AFTERMATH                                                                                        I hope you had the time of your life
it’s exhausting.
her body can’t keep up with her mind - feeling her legs quiver beneath the weight of an impending doom. tiger jk’s voice is as menacing as ever, but the woman listens tentatively anyway ( as they all do ). her heart drops each time he cycles through a group and their eliminated member. this week is different, although there is always a first and last place. but can anyone truly feel like a winner after losing a teammate?
it’s a competition, kyulkyung reminds herself constantly as the CEO builds up the anticipation leading up to the final two - royal and kt, fighting for bragging rights and that moment of pride. normally, she would be elated to even be considered for the top performance, but the never ending pausing was agony. she was uncharacteristically nervous, biting down on her lip as her eyes flop back and forth between tiger jk and the audience that waits anxiously before them.
perhaps that’s what made this entire thing that much worse.
elimination is one thing, but facing it in front of 1500 pairs of eyes? that was just torture.
her heart is pounding and it’s frightening feeling this way after facing the judges countless times before. maybe it was the fact that she knew one of them would go or the idea that it could most definitely be her. just get it over with, she wants to shout, but he’s speaking before she can react.
“however, you’ll also have to lose a member today, and that person is… ZHOU JIEQIONG. we also wish you the best of luck in the future.”
she anticipated it yea, but it still hurts like hell.
                                                                       ❀
the woman doesn’t break down until she’s on the phone with her mom later saturday night - ignoring whatever texts that cause the phone pressed against her ear to vibrate viciously. kyulkyung appreciates anything that’s sent her way, but she just needed time. time was perfect for acceptance and most importantly, comfort from one of the people she loved most in her life.
“i’m sorry you couldn’t see me perform next week,” the words themselves call forth small tears, wiped away by an already damp fuzzy blanket that lay wrapped around her shoulders. her bedroom is dark, her door locked to block out whatever noise her roommates manged to come up with. she’s had days to prepare for this, but it’s the real situation always goes so much different than imagined.
in her head, kyulkyung thought of herself as cool and collected - wanting to give off an appearance of strength and indifference to something that in reality, had little meaning. of course it would’ve been exciting to make it all the way, to perform at the finals and have that prize just within reach. but in reality, she was disappointed and embarrassed and the woman didn’t know how to express that. “now you have a to make a trip down here for nothing.”
the fact that her mother would’ve seen her perform was heartbreaking. the woman who meant so much to her, that kyulkyung felt she owed so much could’ve seen where this agonizing journey had brought her. she had come from the lowest of lows - caught in a scandal with a teacher manipulating her for his own pleasure, utilizing her every fear and insecurity and she just let him. he let her think she was in control, but in the end she was the only one left fucked over and broken.
but she was such a different person today.
“a trip to see you is never just nothing, jieqiong.” her mother’s tone is laced with disappointment, but the dancer feels like it isn’t directed towards what she just watched on tv. “i’m coming in because i want to see you, i miss you. do you think a stupid show would honestly change that?” the words are meant to scold her, but they only manage to bring a smile to her tear soaked face.
“c’mon, you can still show me that academy you’re working at. yeah? i’m sure your students will be glad to have you back - and now you’re kind of... semi... famous? i think.” her mother’s laugh is like honey, melting any negative emotions brewing within kyulkyung and replaced with nothing but hope. the older woman was managed to have this affect on her, to make everything that seemed so important so irrelevant.
“hmm you’re right.” there were things to look forward to after the show: the furthering of her career at hook & crook, a new positive media exposure, the new inspiration of joining a stage full of idols. the experience, although not going as exactly how her mind planned it, left her with a lot of memories and friends - tips and skills that she could learn to value and take wherever she went.
“and about that hair... well, we’ll talk more about that when i take you to the salon this week.”

﹡   𝐌𝐍𝐄𝐓𝐆𝐋𝐎𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐔𝐃𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒❺ EPISODE 6   ━━  𝖳𝖤𝖠𝖬𝗥𝗢𝗬𝗔𝗟  ◆  COACH CHERI .
she isn’t new to the mgas. no, far from it. having been a contestant for the first season, a coach in the third ( and seen a hefty third place that scarred her for days on end ) and having been actively watching the show this season to now re-living the war in the fifth. she thinks it’s fine, the wounds have healed. she’s licked the battle scars and is ready to don her luxe armor and carry her name like the darling she’s supposed to embody. miss cheri – cheri sunbaenim, now coach cheri for them.
it’s fine, she doesn’t mind it.
the difference of then and now is that she’s far from alone. the burden doesn’t rest on her shoulders, alone, and this gives her a peace of mind. so, she does what she thinks is best: she rolls her shoulders back, presses her brightest grin into place and raises a hand in jittery excitement as they’re announced on stage and she’s appearing happier than she feels.
an existential dread appears but it’s far from the surface; it’s there, though, in the bit of her stomach as their team is read off in names and she’s forced to take a deep breath because no, the time to feel bad about past losses wasn’t now. not when five new names were looking to them for guidance and mijoo knew better than to shovel nameless conflicts on hands that don’t deserve them.
she welcomes them with open arms. always the nicer one, the more open one to seolhyun’s stricter tone and she doesn’t mind it. the tension is new and uncomfortable and mijoo had never been one to like to be confined to rules and formalities. it’s evident in the way she jokes between herself, ella and won. from the way she flips seolhyun’s professional moniker to one that resembled the famous californian music festival. one that brings a smile to everyone’s face and while it doesn’t melt all the tension, she likes how it catches on among some of the contestants and that’s all mijoo can ask for. to how her hands lightly push wonwoo’s back before them, a slight inclination forward when he introduces himself to give him the space and the respect he deserve -- while he didn’t have the seniority on his belt in comparison to her and seolhyun, he was still privileged with the title of coach and that came confidence to which mijoo saw fit to embolden through a slight nudge of her hand.
she’s not here to grill them, like before -- bless their souls for mga3′s team royal’s patience -- she’s here to guide them. and where seolhyun and wonwoo have the performance and choreography handled, mijoo takes full reign of their vocals.
they’re a jumbled puzzle of people that, at first, mijoo hadn’t thought would be at royal but as they ( the coaches ) had handpicked them themselves, the thought of why they were at royal loses it’s sentiment as time goes on; bits and pieces come to light and she finds herself understanding why she had chosen some of them in the first place. and although she might have been perplexed by ages ( eric being only fifteen had her shifting, crying internally at how much older she was to him ) and the singular female ( to which mijoo held her at a higher degree, while not stricter -- her own expectations for the younger girl arose when she heard the beautiful voice that had been attached to the other’s timbre ), she finds they all fit amongst each other and that’s what mattered. no one was too right or too wrong, much like goldilocks, but there were no bears in sight.
only diamonds in the rough.
she’s left far more impressed than they had been given credit for. while seolhyun’s approach bordered a professional flare, mijoo approaches the situation in the way she’s used to. when she’s called, ‘cheri bomb sunbaenim’, though, by one of the contestants, a male by the name of suwoong, she’s left in a fit of giggles behind a palm before a hand moves to ruffle the other’s hair. there’s numerous ways to get on her good side but classic puns of her stage name was definitely one of them.
this eases her into the role, the stress from seasons prior left her jaded but she sees potential in their voices. many of them adhere to the tone, the superior range that royal lusts after and she can see that in all of them -- something to keep in mind for the future -- as they hold royal’s title in their hands. she sees it all, especially the determination on their faces when conflict arises ( suwoong and kyungsoo vie for the same part and unlike before, mijoo gives each the benefit of the doubt; if they really wanted it, they’d show them, wouldn’t them? ), and although turbulent, she tells them in a clear voice: “if you really want this part. fight for it: convince us why you deserve this part over someone else.”
her gaze immediately shifts, the mirth from earlier, having been watching with the slightest hue of admiration in her stare fades and one of cool seriousness rests. it had been: she had been far more lenient than she should but in that instance she had believed they knew what they were doing, she was only here to guide them -- the rest was in their hands, if they wanted a better part, they’d fight for it. if they thought it was unfair, they’d fight for it. if they wanted to win, they’d fight for their chance on that stage.
( while she wasn’t for taking parts from those who deserved them ; if kyungsoo hadn’t fought for it, in this instance, she would have deemed it fair -- if he didn’t fight, he didn’t want it. but the group far exceeds her expectations because the two are out on a duel, ready to protect their lines and their standing on that stage and mijoo is once again left happily surprised by the turn of events )
very much like the three of them had, as coaches, they could do only so much. ultimately, it was up to them to take these tools and make the best performance from it. this is what mijoo understand.
which was why, when they’ve all laid their prospects on the floor with golden-gilded hands, ready to prepare for their trial for this pivotal part: she looks to seolhyun for the answer. while singing had been her mantel -- seolhyun and wonwoo held the performance and it’s choreography in high regards.
when she decided kyungsoo, mijoo had nothing to disagree. instead, she nods and smiles softly.
when she had mentioned at the beginning of her open-door policy, she hadn’t really expected anyone to take her seriously. ( she had hoped but these hopes were dashed when days would past and no one came knocking on her nonexistent door )
but she understands, she’s an idol -- they were busy. did they have time to really seek advice when they were all fighting for a piece of the glory?
hyojin’s appearance is unexpected, but welcomed when he asks for her ear. mijoo is nothing short of expectant and eager when he asks. and although she doesn’t know all the answers, she provides him with years of wisdom, ones that have been written on her back and wrapped around her heart for years now.
she tells him things that ease his burdens and things that make her own heart constrict because she knows what it feels like to burden one’s self with conflicts and pain and blame that had no other home but at one’s own inexpensible guilt. she tells him he doesn’t deserve that -- no, he’s gotten this far on his own two feet and while it was inevitable, someone always had to go home, hyojin hadn’t been the one and he should keep that in mind: it wasn’t his fault, he didn’t deserve this torment, she says finally and she can only hope he takes it to heart.
she hopes with these words that they comfort him; equipped with a patience to listen, she does it to the utmost of her ability until she feels the other’s tensions leave him.
because that was why she was here, right?
it comes full circle though and maybe a few tears were shed when they’re running to the end of their rope as coaches and mijoo finds the groups present to the coach’s as darling as any other present she’s received in the past; maybe she’s being emotional, maybe it’s in her right to but she’s all ears when they hand the fans over to the coaches and mijoo is physically stopping herself from shedding more than a tear or two; fan used to cover her face as she laughs off her embarrassment because why was she crying -- they were going to be, they would be fine.
they deserved much more than fine and they would get it ---- wouldn’t they?
( the details of only the four would go on are beyond her and mijoo doesn’t think about it much but as they’re standing beyond that stage, watching them perform, this thought secures itself at the forefront of her mind and fingers tighten themselves into balls as she prays for their hearts and souls, watches them leave their everything on stage -- offering themselves and maybe the rest of their dreams for everyone to tear apart. she hopes this isn’t the case -- she hopes that all of them reach their destinations safety.
their own little shang ri la. )

[08.02.19] facetime call incoming… to kim hyojin! ❀
“oh, hyung! hello!” picking up suwoong’s call, his eyes slightly widen in surprise at the sudden communication. not sure about the occasion, hyojin finds himself shyly hiding his face with his free hand, the other taking the phone and trying to hold it at an angle so that it showed only part of his visage. “sorry… i wasn’t prepared!”
this time around, he’s dressed rather casually, with his circular-rimmed glasses and a recently washed purple sweater, hair a little bit tousled but still neat in the typical, organized hyojin fashion. admittedly, he didn’t expect to be called in the middle of the day, especially during practice when everyone was undoubtedly preparing for their new stage. it’s a little obvious how flustered this makes him, but he manages to quickly comb his hair with a few fingers, rub the drowsiness out of his eyes, and adjust his glasses, before slowly removing his hand with a sheepish smile.
“how are you - oh, everyone, hello~” craning his neck to spot a few familiar figures at the corner of the video frame, hyojin gives a little wave at them, smiling sweetly.
thankfully, his department worked from home on most fridays, giving him a sense of respite from thursday’s antics for the past few weeks. for the first time in a while, though, he’s been able to sleep in, something that took far more priority over the mixed feelings about this week. it’s surreal enough that they had placed first, a victory he’s sure he’ll hold close to his heart for quite some time, because it meant that his teammates had gotten what they had worked so hard to deserve. after a good night’s rest, though, it feels like a distant memory now - at the same time, it feels a little strange not waking up early in the morning to go to the practice studio. glancing at the analog clock perched next to his laptop, he realizes he probably would have already been a few hours into practice by now.
waiting for suwoong’s response, he listens attentively, nodding along and laughing gently at the other’s animated, friendly words, glad that the older male seems to be fine and getting along well with the rest of the team. thinking about it, hyojin himself wasn’t too perturbed by his elimination, having prepared for the future with wary eyes and treating every stage as if it would be his only and last one. the thought that perhaps his time had already been far overdue ever since the trios stage makes him more grateful than bittersweet or discouraged.
( but when he thinks about it more and more, sometimes he wonders if taeyang would have made it farther. maybe that spot wasn’t meant for him. )
“oh, a cake?” noting the sweetness of the coaches for bringing in something to the remaining team members, hyojin feels moved by the thoughtfulness of the mentors. they were all quite kind, and he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t lucky to have been part of such a well balanced and conscientious team. “they pretended to drop it, huh? oh no...” his eyes narrow in sympathy at the story, and he pushes back a yawn with bleary eyes.
patting at his cheek lightly, scolding himself for being still tired from having woken up so late in the day, he rubs at his eyes again. his body still aches from weeks of practicing dance, completely unused to the feeling, and it’s almost like a wave of sleepiness had washed over him for all the time he’s been awake today, hunched over his laptop to try and catch up on the work he had to do.
he finds himself slowly snapping out of it with suwoong’s brightness and the welcoming nature of the other members, quite touched to find that they still thought of him as a member. it’s not that he didn’t miss them, but it’s the realization that they didn’t erase him from their minds entirely to focus on the next performance that makes a warm, fuzzy feeling fill him up.
as such, when suwoong offers to “feed” him some cake through the phone, hyojin plays along affectionately despite finding it humorous, opening his mouth and pretending to take a bite, before eric manages to prevent the cake from hitting suwoong’s phone. holding back a laugh, hyojin thanks the other for his attempt, promising to make the team sweets in return.
with that, he makes sure to ask how practice is going, listening carefully and encouraging them to the best of his ability. soon enough, their time comes to an end, and hyojin gives them one last wave, flashing them a little finger heart.
“make sure to take care of your health! team royal, fighting!”

MGA5EP07: FINAL INTERVIEW SOLO
It was Thursday and a group of familiar faces infiltrated the Royal team practice room. Kyungsoo, with slightly widened eyes, was taken by the arms by interviewer noonas and placed in another room for what was apparently a round of surprise interviews.
“You guys,” he shook his head slightly as they made final adjustments to the cameras. “Alright, let’s do it. My very last interview on this show.”
This is the very last interview. How does that make you feel?
“A bit surreal, if we are being honest. I can’t believe this is the final episode and we are onto the last performances of this season. It feels like yesterday when I submitted my application online...” His voice trailed off as he recalled himself absently filling out the form and clicking submit. Not much thought was put into the form, if he was being truthful to himself. Back then, it was a whim driven mostly by curiosity for the entertainment industry. Look at him now, knee deep in the mud with no desire to escape - how the tides have turned. “At least I am no longer staring at the camera with the deer in the headlights look.” He turned towards the camera and attempted to mimic the look he gave on that first week.
What did you think of the results last week?
“I was really sad to see HYOJIN go,” said Kyungsoo. “Over the week he had become...A friend.” He followed up those words with a firm nod to show his commitment to this unexpected friendship. It usually took a while for Kyungsoo to warm up to people and he didn’t usually consider people friends after just a week but with Hyojin it was different. The other had an honesty and sweetness that he could never hope to achieve and he truly admired the guy for it. “We lost some of our best dancers like JIEQIONG and RYUJIN. I really do enjoy performances by those girls and I hope they are not too discouraged for the results and continue on in their journey.”
How was it like working with your group?
“Second time around, I feel a lot better. I’ve warmed up to the team considerably and I’d like to say the feeling is mutual.” ERIC still called him ghost but now it was an affectionate nickname. Kyungsoo might have accidentally saw that he had been saved as ‘ghost hyung’ in little Eric’s phone and he...didn’t mind it as much as he thought he would. “HEEJIN I’ve always gotten along decently with and as for SUWOONG...” He paused, remembering the way his cousin chased him around the practice room this week with that yellow shirt. “We are family. Even if I find him irritating at times, the fact we share blood doesn’t change. I will always have his back, even during ridiculous moments.” Such as when they decided to jump scare the coaches.
How was it like working with the coaches?
“The coaches decided to prank us first thing this week and it started a war,” he said with a smile. “It was fun, trying to prank each other to lighten up the mood. The fact we are on the finale made everyone pretty anxious and playing around a little helped setting us at ease. We truly value the coaches’ advice and their support throughout these past two weeks. Once again, thank you very much to Coach ELLA, CHERI and WON. I will support my Luxe idol coaches by purchasing a copy of their latest album,” he promised. “Uh, a copy each.” Kyungsoo added as an after thought.
Are there any performances you’re looking forward to?
“I am actually looking forward to all of the performances. It is the finale so I am sure everyone will bring it. Perhaps I am most interested in the NOVA performance because they were given disappointing results last week. Phoenix rise from the ashes and I am sure the Nova team will work extra hard this week to prove themselves. Nova team fighting.”
What was your own favourite performance this season?
“Not including the finale performances because I won’t spoil those for you, my favourite performance would be Shangri-La. It is a song that fit my personal taste and one that I think we executed very well. Other than that, I enjoyed doing Beautiful Liar with YEWON and CHANGBIN because I love the singer-rapper duo songs. It is like yin and yang, so different yet very balanced.”
What was your favorite performance of the season apart from your own?
“I really liked the dance duo performance between SUWOONG and JIEQIONG. It was really beautiful and they had a lot of chemistry with each other. MINHO and NAKYUNG’s performance was really nice as well, cute. KENTA did a dance with TAEYANG. I think the song was called OFTEN. I really loved the red suspenders look.”
Who do you think will win?
“Team Royal,” he said, looking into the camera with a look of determination. “Without a doubt.”
“Please allow me to thank everyone for following me on my journey in the mgas so far. Really, it’s been an honour. I’ve been surrounded by incredibly talented people, who’d entertained me throughout the weeks and shocked me with their amazing performances, thank you. To the CEOs who had diligently watched every performance, thank you. To the staff who took in our requests and cleaned up after us, thank you. To the coaches who helped us out, thank you. To interviewer noonas who had just kidnapped me for this, thank you.” He bowed after each thank you sincerely, because he knew this was the last time. “To the audience, thank you for watching me, praising me and providing constructive criticism as needed for my growth. Finale is coming, please continue to keep your eyes on Team Royal. On Saturday, we will perform to win.”

mga season 5, winners prize aug. 27th, the interview w/ team sirius: @rkmason, @rkchaeryeong, @rkkhg
it was honestly a surprise to her, when the mnet staff contacted her. it made her week busier than it needed to be but she welcomed it with open arms. yeji had already memorized the performance for the evaluation. so this would be a test for her.
on the 27th she met up with the rest of the members, even if both her and chaeryeong had gotten signed at trc-- it was still nice to see the younger female in this setting. yeji smiled warmly at minho and hyunggu when she saw them. this would be their last appearance as team sirius. now it was time for them to have a photoshoot-- but also an interview.
“how was your overall experience in the mgas yeji ssi?” the staff asked her, yeji looked at them with her brows raised, “i think it was a good experience, i grew alot the past two months, there were many downs--” once again she remembered those that got eliminated, “but i think i did those that got eliminated justice? by being on the team that won in the end.” yeji gave the other an eye smile.
“were you surprised that you won?” again another question that she wasn’t sure how to answer, “yes i was shocked to win, i know people think we only won because of minho oppa but... that is rather insensitive to both myself, chaeryeong and hyunggu’s skills as performers because if it was only for him, then we wouldn’t have made it this far. even if our trc performance was something that minho oppa suggested, i like to think that we completed each other.”
yeji was about to walk off but then the interviewer managed to ask her another question, “how is it? being a trainee?” she turned around to glance at them, “being a traine is new-- the mgas were more hectic while being a trainee feels more stable. even if i know that if i don’t meet whatever expectations they have of me, i might get kicked-- but i’ll take those sorrows at that time. for now i’m just happy. i had bee on a private audition or trc previously so being signed to trc was a surprise but-- i’m happy, that tiger jk seemed to have changed his mind.”
she chuckled softly before making her way in front of the camera, to take some pictures for the fan signing event. yeji wanted to do meet the fans well, she wasn’t sure when she would be able to be in a situation where she would be able to perform in front of people and meet fans again like this, ‘i better make the most of it.’

IN SECOND PLACE...
                                       [ ♦ ]  FROM ROYAL ENT ………….  ROYAL FLUSH !
It is So Jisub’s turn to speak. “You all did an amazing job and going from first place last week to second tonight doesn’t change that. You are all talented kids and did a great job not only today but all the way over here. I hope you are proud of your achievements here because that is something to be proud of.” The man nods, a kind expression on his face.
“Tonight, I’d like to sign LEE SUWOONG to Royal Entertainment. You made a steady journey on this season and you are only deserving of so. I hope that you’ll join me and continue working with your talent.”
“I’d also like to make a proposition.” Tiger JK says. “If the lady JEON HEEJIN joined TRC Entertainment, that’d be an honest pleasure. You have a powerful voice and you proved that every step of the way here.”
The MC holds a more joyful expression on his face now. “So that can only mean that in first place…”

BIG_MAC                                                            2 min
BIG_MAC    [ VIDEO UPLOAD — behind the scenes, there’s cut together clips of Minho goofing around and trying to lighten the mood before the TRC finale performance]
There’s so many things to say but character limits exist ㅋㅋ the world is cruel to separate us like this.
First, I want to say thank you to everyone that supported me and any of the mga contestants. Thank you for coming along on this journey with us wherever it took us and whatever the results were.
Second, I want to thank those that I worked with on this season from the staff to my partners to my team members. I wouldn’t have made it to the finals without any of you and I cannot begin to express my endless gratitude.
Third, I want to thank the CEOs for their constructive criticism. I hope to show you a better version of myself next time. if there is one
I won’t get ahead of myself and keep counting too high ㅋ This kind of formal post isn’t like me so I’ll be less formal now ㅎㅎ
To cat nakyung, I know you’ve got such big things in your future. Maybe you were a housecat in our performance but you became a lion by the semi-finals, take pity on me if we face off again  ㅋㅋ Seunghun-ah, how could a pretty flower like you be left behind? You’ll only continue to grow stronger and taller from here on out, right? Heejin-ah, our princess got her rightful crown and Kyul, the huntress will always get the last shot, I know you’ll be back with more power than I’ll ever know, I hope you’ll spare me too ㅋㅋ
Our TRC team, Tiger JK isn’t the only one that’s proud. I know you’ll do well in your new companies, that much talent was rightfully acknowledged. To our coaches, thank you for being there for us. Thank you for making sure I didn’t crack any mirrors of damage any ear drums with my singing ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Like the video above, I want to continue to show off a goofy, happy Choi Minho and I hope that’s another journey you can come along with too. Til next time, this is B.Yu telling you to be you ✌️

performing may we bye by onestar feat. chen, 2:25-4:25 (chen’s part)
     @rkjeonghxn / @danielxrk / @rkxsungwoon / @rkpwj / @rkkenta / @rkyq / @rksuwoong
oh,  he thinks a little after the decision is out in the air,  when the judges have already moved onto discussing the next stage and the air grows suffocating as realization settles in slowly.  he stares ahead,  unflinching,  and clenches his fists in his lap.  the sheet of iron ever present over his expression remains long after recording is done and when he’s finally on his way home with the others.
oh.
the glimmer of hope the eliminated contestants are given after the fact does very little to calm the conclusion he’s reached from the moment his name is called  --  not good enough.  huh.
surprising how much it hurts,  a phantom pain in his chest that aches when he gives his friends a smile and reassures them he’d expected the result.  it’s not a lie per se,  really isn’t,  except perhaps he’s been fooling himself since the beginning,  clutching onto a thread of hope and praying to a god he’s not sure is out there when his mind is unusually blank and the pressure grows.  the little mercies come with the idea everyone else survived,  empty enigma will go on even if he failed here,  they didn’t fall the way he did.
the shot of redemption should be enlightening  --  instead it’s cold and he wonders what he’s even doing here anymore.
he can’t bring himself to look at yuqi after the decision is spoken into the void,  doesn’t want to face how he’s failed her.  the judges’ comments are right to point out how she was top three the previous week but now on the verge of going home.  he wonders what he could’ve improved  --  was it too boring?  did he not express himself enough?
no matter.
he doesn’t let himself fret on it too long,  instead his attention falling upon reassuring his friends he’s okay,  he’s always okay.  hwang minhyun doesn’t wear sadness well,  has learned to conceal growing up in the environment that he did,  and so he hugs daniel back and allows a quiet sigh of disappointment to fall from his lips as he pats the other’s back.
“i’ll do my best to make you proud,”  he says generally to the whole group,  summoning something resembling a hopeful smile.  “wait for me,  i’ll be back.”  it’s like a plea,  let me be good enough, he whispers unconsciously into the air,  paired with let them make it through another round,  they deserve it.
the presence of cameras still weighs heavy on his presence,  and so he offers woojin only the most pleasant smile he can,  and promises they’ll discuss it further when they’re home,  doesn’t dare look at kenta for too long,  much less know what he can say to sungwoon.  the idea he can prolong the discussion a little longer is a small relief,  but minhyun embraces it nevertheless.
his new partner,  however,  is a sense of entertainment to a certain degree.  a little funny considering how it seems jeonghan and daniel have some bad blood,  though he’s not entirely aware of the extent,  nor how far his partner’s distaste for his friend went,  if he could be considered guilty by association.
their initial meeting is one begun with raised brows and unwavering stares.  jeonghan quickly earns his respect,  and minhyun can’t deny he doesn’t know the other well enough to justify much less.  the partnership is an experience he’ll look back on in the future,  wry and accompanied by a calmness up until game day.
they rehearse in a practice room courtesy of jeonghan’s student status at k-arts,  and the rising bitterness crawls up his throat and settle upon his lips that curl back into a wry but unsettled attempt at a smile as he stares around the campus,  the room,  everything he realizes could’ve been him.  he could’ve been a student here if he’d accepted the offer,  could’ve continued pursing music with a renowned passion instead of settling for less.
the idea stays with him as he and jeonghan go through the selected track,  something that tugs at the heartstrings and begs one to look upon their past and felt on a heartbreak that left its scars.  they listen once,  twice,  three times before minhyun truly feels they made the right decision.  he’s come to doubt his own preferences,  and a part of him wondered if the judges would express their disappointment once more,  if he’d have to sit there through it all and then meet his bandmates and tell them that no,  i wasn’t good enough for them.
his lack of confidence is almost sickening,  a sensation that weighs him down as he stares at himself in the reflection of the door before making it inside and going towards the destination the eliminated trainees had been summoned.  he feels like he’s cattle on a farm,  ushered to the will of people given much power and affluence.  he wonders when he let it all come down to this.
he thinks of the odd tension in the share-house,  half-pretending he’s okay,  half-motivated to just do better,  tip-toeing around the others and feeling more or less the same back from the majority.  things have always been tender and delicate between him and kenta,  though he’s yet to acknowledge it,  to do anything to address the neglected elephant in the room.  he falls back on normalcy to remain sane,  and spends his free time simply practicing.
there’s an encounter with suwoong that does much to cheer minhyun’s spirits,  the other coming over with chicken and drinks,  and despite the polar opposites the two remained in personality,  minhyun comes out of the night a refreshed person,  lighter even.  it helps that he too feels like he might’ve helped the other in any way,  even if it were with mediocre advice and a simple ear lent with the promise to listen,  but his soft spot for the friend remains secure,  even as he waves him off later casually,  and reminds him  --  chill.
he should really take his own advice.
daniel and sungwoon are easier to be around,  though also harder in little ways.  they’re more known,  walking incarnations of the confidence and talent he strives to reach,  but the slightly pathetic feelings do little to shelter the proudness he can’t deny.  he meets woojin’s eyes too many times to count,  the other remaining mute despite his initial attempt to communicate with him when the results were first aired.  for a moment,  he wonders if the other had been disappointed in him too  --  at least until the final moment.  when woojin wishes him a good luck,  minhyun reaches out and pinches his cheek gently,  a move done in affection,  and returns the sentiment.
he has great friends,  and for that,  he is thankful.
the room feels more empty this time,  with just the six trainees and those monitoring them with critical gazes already inclined towards the thought they’d failed this competition once.  if this is his end,  so be it  --  it’ll make a lasting expression for time to come.  he wonders for a moment,  while looking over at the other pairs,  if he should’ve texted yuqi best wishes,  but holds the regret to fester later.
jeonghan and him are the first pair to be called up,  a chill travelling down his spine as he stands and looks to his partner.  “i believe in us,”  he says,  giving himself a second to compose his own thoughts yet failing back on something overwhelmingly cheesy regardless.  the ends of his lips rise into something genuine,  and following the other’s words,  he nods,  “let’s do this.”
they have utilized stools as part of the performance,  perched away from each other and delivering different messages of a collective whole.  introductions out of the way,  minhyun simply offers his name and a promise to showcase their best.  the song is doused in the idea of heartbreak,  and as minhyun sits there,  the instrumental opening to the track beginning to set the tone,  he feels it reflect upon his own heart.  he closes his eyes and begins his verse.
i'm fine but suddenly you break into my thoughts. whenever it is, i part with you again
jeonghan joins him at the end,  and their voices mingle together to create what he deems a powerful harmony of emotion.  then,  comes his own lines,  solo and channeling the necessary feelings he wanted to convey.
how can i love again after meeting someone else?
jeonghan takes over,  and minhyun nods slowly,  awaiting his cue to join back in.  it was easy to get lost in the way jeonghan sang,  full of emotion and delivered with the talent of someone who was confident in his own skills  --  he feels fortunate with his duo partnership.
one day, when I meet you, i will tell you my story how painful and hard it was for me
there are scattered high notes exchanged through the song,  switching between him and jeonghan,  challenging him in way he hasn’t been particularly challenged before.  the slightly desperate last chance perhaps sings through in the way the duo perform,  giving it their all and searching for a validation they shouldn’t want to this degree,  a necessity in this industry.  he can’t speak for jeonghan,  but minhyun’s quest for approval taunts him day in and out,  and here he stands once more,  yearning.
at that time, take those awkward love and memories. i want you to be hard as i am go away
he puts his all into delivering the notes as perfectly as one such as him can,  matched evenly with jeonghan’s passion.  the music quiets down,  and minhyun straightens as he readies himself,  eyes shining as the end approaches.  no matter the results,  he tells himself he can only plea acceptance,  no lingering self-doubt.
how can i love again, after meeting someone else?
his voice starts softer,  eyes closed once more,  slowly building into the high note,  an octaves higher than he was used to performing since his musical production days,  but he follows through the best he can.  he continues his part of vocalization as jeonghan sings through his verse,  and although he may not have eyes on the other,  he’d go as far as to say he can feel him,  through his voice,  through the connection they’d made in the past week.
we were beautiful
his voice grows gentler,  both hands coming up to clutch the mic as he works through the note.  then comes the finale  --  sweet and twinged with a bittersweet end.
now goodbye
he lets the moment sit,  before opening his eyes.

⭐️MGA 5 EPISODE 3 ↪ perfoming romanticism by leo with @rkjeonghxn outfit inspiration: x  x line distribution & times: x
it’s always easier to move on to the next round when there are a lot of contestant. the fewer they become and the harder the choices will be for the five ceos. there’s undoubtedly a lot of raw talent in this room, some maybe more polished than others, some mostly relying on their popularity and star factor. the latter can’t be downplayed of course, as there’s no reason to have skill in the first place if people aren’t interested in you or want to follow you. still, it’s always a little annoying to see such people get by with minimal talent.
soon after jinyoung returned to his seat following his interview, the entire set falls silent. everyone’s eyes are glued to the judging panel, waiting for the dreaded moment when they will announce the results. his newly found acquaintance changbin is nominated as the top rapper, which comes to no surprise to jinyoung, but it’s choi minho who takes the win. unlike a lot of people here, jinyoung doesn’t feel any type of way for that guy. despite his best friend being in convex, he knows very little about the group and what kind of drama happened that led to the rapper’s departure. he’s not a hater nor is he a fan, and although he didn’t dislike his performance, he wouldn’t have gave him the win either.
he keeps a straight face throughout the eliminations, just quietly wishing not to be on that list when the singer’s turn comes. the top 3 dancers are called to the stage, and he recognizes hwang yeji from that one day at the hospital. they haven’t spoken since and he wishes her well. she’s a pretty good dancer despite her young age, but so is lee chaeryeong. as for suwoong, well, it’s not a question of talent really, but more his personality that jinyoung can’t quite figure out. he’s satisfied with yeji’s win, just as he is satisfied with heejin’s win later on. there was a slight disappointment about not making the top 3 but then again, he still believes he performed the best he could. for someone as obsessed with perfect as he is, it’s hard to accept average results, but he’s a good sport. heejin, as he’s noted multiple times already, is a very good singer. he wonders if she can dance well too, because if she does then she’s almost guaranteed to go to the end. her looks are very idol-like, not to mention she’s young.
joohyun was probably the most surprising elimination for jinyoung. he knew she made a mistake, they all did, and it’s unexpectedly fair that they wouldn’t favor her due to her past participations and already established level of popularity. she’s one of the known contestants here that everyone talks about to the point where jinyoung also knows about it, and even if don’t want to show bias, maybe he thought they would show more leniency towards someone they know, and he now stands corrected. there is no second chance in this competition, and no room for weakness.
he applauds heejin’s win with a proud smile, and it’s probably the first time anyone will have caught him looking so pleased since the very first audition. he’s also happy for sihyeon who’s finally been recognized for her talent. it’s kind of funny how some of those who changed categories managed to survive unlike those who truly wanted to show their best skill. in hindsight, it was pretty clever of them to do so and jinyoung wonders if this was calculated on their part. he doubts so for daniel, who probably just innocently wanted to show another side of himself. but that’s if he’s still the same person he knew all those years ago in busan. maybe he’s changed, like jinyoung did.
he doesn’t care much for the following eliminations, as nobody he knows has been sent home. instead, he pays close attention to what is said next. they are to be paired off in duos and present a neat performance showing not only talent but also teamwork. and it’s probably what he dreads most as of now. it’s not as easy for him to get along with people as much as he’d like, and depending on who he ends up with, this assignment might be his first real challenge. he doesn’t necessarily want to be with a friend, however, because it doesn’t always mean it will lead to a good performance. he ends up with yoon jeonghan.
they’re not friends per say, but they do know of each other and have worked together in the past on musical productions. jinyoung is very enthusiastic at the idea of performing with someone who has talents and tastes similar to his, but it can also be an obstacle in the end. they can’t put up something too expected. it’ll be boring to watch for everyone.
that’s the subject they talk about when they first meet up for practice. “since they know we’re both passionate about musicals, i don’t think we should choose that type of song. what do you think?” he asks jeonghan who promptly agrees. they’re both aware they need to showcase something different, more creative and challenging. something that will throw the judges off, hopefully in a good way. they spend a while just searching online, or scrolling down their playlists in order to find the perfect fit. and after going through several choices, they finally decide on romanticism by leo. the key is to make all the right changes to the choreography and harmonies so it looks and sounds as if it was meant for two people instead of just one. they need to be in complete unison, and not just seem like two individuals performing the same song at the same time.
their first practice consists of making these arrangements and going through them a couple times to see if they fit well, and deciding on the parts they’ll each sing. they both agree to practice on their own whenever they have free time, then meet together every day for several hours so they can put it all together. it just won’t work if they both work separately.
while jinyoung criticizes a lot, he’s also very open to criticism himself. as long as it’s nothing insulting, he believes this is the only way one will grow, and not with fake praises. if he sucked, he wants to know. if he does one movement wrong, he wants to know so he can fix it. if jeonghan feels it would be better if they switched one part because it sounds off, he’ll be open to the idea. what he finds exhausting is those who are too scared to make any kind of negative comment, or who take everything too personal. they’re impossible to work it, not to mention annoying. it’s all meant to enhance the performance. the judges won’t chose the best out of the two of them. so either they win together, or fail together. it doesn’t matter if one sings five seconds more, as long as it makes the whole thing better.
it’s surprisingly easy to work with jeonghan, and jinyoung comes home at night almost with a spring in his step, telling mina about how practice is going with a lot more details than usual. he’s optimistic, hopeful. if it were to suddenly come crashing down....
the two men sit next to each other, and jinyoung can’t help but notice there’s so few of them compared to the first episode. sixty chairs have disappeared since then. he remains exactly like the second episode, face stoic as he watched the first few duos perform on stage. the only moments he stops being a statue is in-between performances, as he leans over to jeonghan and whispers things inaudible to cameras, about what he liked and didn’t like.
yugyeom goes before with him, with a contestant called do kyungsoo, and he honestly has no idea what to expect when they first start. it seems like they managed to use each other’s strength and make up for the other’s weakness quite well, and jinyoung hopes it’s enough for them to make it through. some of the duos make unexpected yet good pairs, and some match so well it’s almost boring. he wonders if this will be the case for jeonghan and him, although they didn’t go for a musical number. are their skills too similar? but it’s not like they can suddenly pretend one of them can rap either, so there’s nothing they can do about it if they were put together.
they go near the end, with only three duos left after them. they both bring a chair to the center of the stage and sit on them after introducing themselves. the original artist has a very specific way of dancing, that makes every movement look smooth but not sloppy, and sensual but not sexual. there’s a fine line they can’t cross, and jinyoung does feel like they got in down after hours and hours of practice. jeonghan starts off the song with his first lines.
In my mind you’re my lord, the reality is not close enough You’re my one You’re my one
jinyoung parts his legs in a swift motion as the dance obliges, and because there are no backdancers, instead of gesturing to his empty side, he briefly cups jeonghan’s chin instead, making it one of a several modifications to the original choreography. it’s not hard to imagine he’s singing to his girlfriend right now, and wishing she was the one dancing with him. jeonghan and him aren’t exactly flirting together, their actions more inclined to the audience, but there still needs to be a connection between them, a sensuality that can be felt all the way to the very back of the studio. I see through your body, The sign that gets my sensitivity wet Your eyes are chasing after my movement As if saying come after you
in the middle of this verse they both stand up, leaving their chairs behind for the time being. the way they arranged this part suits the lyrics well. it’s as if they’re also chasing each other, delivering their lines back and forth like one echoes the other, and as jeonghan finishes it, jinyoung prepares for the chorus. two minutes isn’t long at all, and after this they’re jumping straight to the bridge so the transition isn’t too cut and dry. Dive-in for me at this moment, make me shiver one time Romanticism in our world together now Let’s feel it romantically, together now
the dance gets more intense and demanding, but they’ve arranged for them to sing half of it together, harmonizing each other. jinyoung’s gaze is piercing, and he has fun flirting with the crowd. there are a lot of parts in this song where they rub their chest, their face or roll their hips, and there’s a risk to make it look cheap and very cringe-worthy if they’re not careful, so they made sure to tell the other whenever it was too much, or not enough. they want to mesmerize the audience, not turn it off.  Piece of you for just one moment Feel me from now on
Let’s feel it sensually, together now Girl you know I’m watching you together now
they had to cut the last chorus in half to fit in the time requirement, but in the end it doesn’t really matter since they jump next into the other half which is kind of a nice follow-up and uses the same lyrics. they sing most of it together, dancing in sync.
together now.

⁺   𝗠𝗡𝗘𝗧𝗚𝗟𝗢𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗨𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦❺ THE CALLBACKS   ━━  𝖳𝖧𝖤𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪
                              ●  ●  ●   ━━━━━━━━━━   신유나   ₊
interviews always have her on her nerves. sometimes she doesn’t know what to say, and other times -- she says too much. but this time, armored with ammunition of the latest performances, yuna has a lot to say.
𝗤   ⟨  A CALLBACK, THAT MUST HAVE BEEN EXCITING.                                   HOW DID YOU FEEL WHEN YOU GOT THE EMAIL  ⟩  !
she comes off more casual than she was -- a little more cool, dusting off the bright smile from earlier with one of ease and nonchalance. even though just days before she had been panicked and manic over not seeing the email ( because it had been slotted in her dark social folder rather than her primary folder -- stupid gmail ), she wasn’t going to come off eager. no, she wanted to come off cool and collected. a level-headed girl who just wanted fame, fortune, and lots and lots of fans. that was level-headed, right? “it was to be expected. i had a really good feeling about my audition up until the end so i wasn’t really afraid i wasn’t going to make it. being in front of the judges, today, though, did get me a little ...” she pauses, feeling the heat rise to her cheeks as she reveals a little too much, the confidence withering away as the excitement of being on stage in front of all those famous ceos became more than apparent on her young face. “speechless? it was really cool to be in front of someone as amazing as baek jiyoung.”
𝗤   ⟨  SO, WE GOT A QUOTE FROM YOUR COUSIN, @rkkhg,                            AND HE SAID THAT HE HATED YOUR PERFORMANCE.                                    DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY ABOUT THAT?                                        DO YOU BELIEVE YOUR PERFORMANCE BAD  ⟩  !
that motherfucker. yuna immediately feels her muscles tighten as she tries to calm the twitch she feels starts to tremble along her eyebrow. “hyunggu oppa said that?” she says through a tensed grin, all the while keeping her smile intact despite the fact that she can immediately feel her blood boil. “oh, my cousin -- he’s so, so, so funny.” and yuna laughs for good measure ; trying not to grit her teeth as she passes off a roll of her eyes with a blink, instead. “such a comedian. but no --” her grin relaxes, rolling her shoulders back as she looks dead on to the camera. “ i don’t believe my performance was bad. sure, it could have been better but can’t you say that for a majority of the other performances here?” yuna shrugs, “i believe i gave them something original. and that alone makes it better than that same majority of other performances.”
𝗤   ⟨  I SEE. SO OF THE MAJORITY, WHICH WERE                                                          THE ONES THAT YOU DIDN’T LIKE  ⟩  !
“there was one guy -- i forget his name, i think it was h - h- something ... @rkharuto? he was hilarious. when he finished his stage, he fell on the floor. i felt so bad for him -- especially after that performance. man, i thought his performance was really cool but i guess off skates he’s not as smooth. and i mean, he ... skated and this is a competition scouting for idols ... like, how do those two even correlate? if you wanted to skate, you should’ve joined the x games, kiddo.” she shakes her head, fingers tapping along her arms as she keeps them crossed against her chest.
“as for my cousin -- he says that i was terrible. he should recheck his prescription because his performance wasn’t all that either. oppa has to do so much better if he thinks that was impressive.  he’s a great dancer, i know it and i’m sure he knows it but we all also know that he sucked.” yuna shrugs, as if ready to tick another one off her list as she continues on.
she laughs, a little, at least -- “i also didn’t know they still allowed grandpas into the competition. isn’t @rkmason like prehistoric at this point? sure, he’s also a good dancer but don’t you think you should give it a rest, 할비. sure, i liked his song and sure he’s good looking but -- eh, eh.” she stares, another finger down.
“and c’mon, the callbacks are supposed to be exciting but some people were just so boring. like that @rkheejin chick, news-flash! that song is so overplayed back in the states, and the acoustic-cute girl singing about unrequited love is really last season.” she sniffs, as if ready to cry for the actual sadness she felt for her. heejin was cute, super cute but if yuna was being honest. she might’ve stifled a yawn here and there.
there was another girl, the moment she had set eyes on her, yuna had felt ill. her hair, oh lord -- why would anyone do that to themselves. “kim @jungeunxrk?” yuna scoffs, “two words. botched dye-job. i honestly don’t know how anyone could concentrate on her performance when she came in looking like she over-fried her hair. bleached blonde, more like botched blonde.” she says the last sentence in english. “oh, but we’re supposed to talk about their performance ... i guess she was nice.”
“ @rkjeongin is a friend of mine and i honestly was rooting for him.” honestly meaning slightly and rooting for him aka secretly plotting his demise. ( she’s half-kidding, but still ) “and i mean, props for doing a girl group song but jeongin, please, if you’re going to do a girl group song, don’t butcher the dance moves. i do hope he makes it on, though, even if he did do ... that.” she even has the audacity to spare a embarrassed smile on his behalf.
the interviewer stares at her, as if begging her to be down and yuna just shakes her head; already knocking down another finger. “@rksuwoong, love korean culture and props to you for being ‘edgy’ and ‘lost in the times’ and all but trot is dead. end of story.”
there was one guy, though. that she couldn’t have helped but be jealous over. and who was shin yuna if not for the petty, little brat that she was -- and her jealousy had obviously tided over when she finally came to mention him. unfortunately, it was all because she enjoyed his song too well, that she couldn’t help but criticize it. “@moonbokrk, song choice -- bleh. rapping? eh. i mean, could have done better but did he? you answer that, yourself.”
“ @rksihyeon i was actually expecting better. she has the face that you’d think has it but her performance didn’t do it for me. it ... lacked something? i don’t know. can’t put my finger on it, though. nice try, though, she’s pretty, at least.” she nods. another one bite the dust, she whispers to herself.
she could have cracked her knuckles and she still wouldn’t be done with her list. “and there’s that @rkchris -- i felt like he was trying to be edgy but also indie and like tough? but vulnerable? and it was just too much, like dude ... be simple ..., you’re doing too much.”
“when i heard the starting tune, i was so ready to fangirl, i love akmu. unfortunately, can’t say the same about @rkumji who sang the song though.”
“and i guess that was just a few people you could say i don’t think will make it.” she wrinkles her nose.
𝗤   ⟨  AND THE REST? WHICH STOOD OUT TO YOU  ⟩  !
“who i think you should root for are definitely kim @rkyeji and shin @ryujinrk. their performances, by far, were the best of the night.” yes, she’s being biased. no, she did not care one bit. shin yuna was a firm believer that since she was amazing, so were her friends and there was no doubt in her mind that when she had seen, first hand, her friends’ performances, she couldn’t be prouder. if she could, she would’ve thrown her shoes at them as celebratory cheers.
“there was one guy that i think did well too,” oddly enough, yuna did have a few compliments to spare. “i think his name was @ericxrk, the one who did ikon’s killing me. his dance break was pretty nice. i enjoyed it.”
𝗘𝗡𝗗 𝘘   ⟨  THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME  ⟩ !
“thank you for taking care of me!” she says almost immediately, a bow slung along the way as she’s thanked and the lights shut off and she feels the heat from those lights fade from her cheeks. fingers brush against tendrils as she flips her hair, turning on her heel. another interview down the shoot.

﹡   𝐌𝐍𝐄𝐓𝐆𝐋𝐎𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐔𝐃𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒❺ EPISODE 8    ━━  𝗥𝗢𝗬𝗔𝗟𝖥𝖫𝖴𝖲𝖧  ◆  COACH CHERI .
Tumblr media
first place comes as a surprise -- not because mijoo didn’t see it coming, no, it definitely wasn’t that. but because she’s learned time and time again not to put her expectations too high, no matter the talent and hard work that pulses between veins and exhausted bones and beads of sweat that trembled against desperate entities.
( a part of her wills expectations to be thin, but they rise more and more as names are called and their team has yet to come -- she sees sunmi’s team place last and her heart falls, remembering throughout the episode how hard their team worked and how much her best friend was trying, although harshly, to help them. and the way that same heart flutters at the sight of mason, his smile as his team, trc -- antidote -- receives third place )
she wants to hope the best for them, she wills it in every way she can, dashing hearts, crossing fingers -- sprinkling mythical fairy dust in every corner of her mind up until the winners are announced. they’ve worked hard for this, but mijoo has tasted victory once before and lost it all in the same breath. it’s why, watching the show in real-time with nayoung, she’s on edge; fingers clutching tightly to her member’s as they baek jiyoung recited the first place of the night and ultimately, who would be departing from them.
it’s bittersweet -- a perfect win with a devastating loss paired with it.
mijoo didn’t see it coming, she couldn’t -- wouldn’t dream of assuming who out of the five would leave them but there he goes, his whimsical smile last seen moments before his name is called and mijoo has her breath caught between a gasp and a choked up sob.
she barely hears the rest of the monologue go by -- negating her attention elsewhere now, fingers loose from nayoung’s hold to grab her phone and immediately text a message to hyojin.
( after she had left their last run through of their stage, she had distributed her cell phone to each -- inciting that if ever they needed someone to talk to, whether to calm their nerves or to recommend a good chicken place, she was always free to message. emergency or not, mijoo left her line open. only now, it seemed she would have to reach out first )

… 💌 ᵎ  i just saw the last episode, you did amazing, hyojin-ssi! … 💌 ᵎ  this may be the end for you on the mgas, but please know that a good opportunity is always around the corner! … 💌 ᵎ  if you still feel bad, i’ll treat you to ice cream next time, yes?
it’s the least she can do, she knows loss well. she’s felt it to the bone -- seen it in the eyes of her team many moons ago. mijoo had hoped to never feel it again, but as she sees the rest of the taped episode go by, she knows this is the last she’ll keep her hopes up so high.
                                            ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
but first place was first place and mijoo still thought winners deserved to celebrate. it’s why, when the topic had come up among the coaches -- all in favor of ice cream cake -- it was decided instantly, that while the winners could have their cake, it wouldn’t be fun to just let them eat it like that, right?
a plan is set into motion: a small prank to congratulate them on all their hard work. while mijoo wasn’t one to overly praise, she did think such achievements deserved their own rewards. so, when the day came -- she comes flying into the room, singing her own little tune, a little too happily, a little too ‘clumsily’ she comes, swinging this way and that as she comes closer and closer to the little group until her words stop and she’s ready to hand over the cake to the first to come her way.
and it’s a one-two exchange, one she doesn’t usually mess up but -- oops! there goes her fingers and oh no! there goes the cake.
by the way her facial expressions pull into a look of horror, mirrored heavily upon the other’s faces, mijoo can’t help the way her lips threaten to spill into laughter rather than the exaggerated ‘o’ they fell into at the get-go.
it was priceless, watching them in unison stare in horror as the cake fell from grace -- kyungsoo was hilarious as he stood, arms outstretched, like the cake would just reverse back and fall into his hands, instead -- even to mijoo’s eye, she felt her own stomach plummet at the sight of a delicious cake going to waste but alas, all in the name of comedy. an entire gotcha! moment that spills into laughter as she tries to stop the giggles from over taking her. it’s quickly relieved when seolhyun and wonwoo come in after her with another cake, resolving the fiasco that was the ‘fallen cake’ mission 001. ( that doesn’t save her from sighing, in the end, as she cleans up the rest of the cake, piling it into the box it had fallen from )
time moves on, all is forgiven ( at least that’s what mijoo thinks ) as they’re giving their slices and seated across from one another. enjoying their time, their victory in the end when eric suggests calling hyojin and mijoo finds herself growing lighter. another bittersweet feeling taking over as she forks one helping after another between her lips as she hears the tone beep, waiting for the receiver to answer: and he does before long, and mijoo can’t help but smile at the sight of him beaming at them without fail.
it sucks, that he’s not there with them but she hopes it’ll pass, the guilt.
( it will, she thinks, it has to )
“don’t worry, hyojin-ssi! when this is all over, we’ll go out for cake, all of us -- together!”
                                          ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
in the same breath, cake and all, they’re still as serious as ever. it’s a determination that mirrors the one mijoo had felt the week before but this time, she feels the chills. the determination to do better than the last, to prove that last week wasn’t a fluke -- that they weren’t just going to be complacent because of this win.
song choices are hard to come by. when they agree on one, they’re far too contemplative on another. and by some force, mijoo finds herself throwing in the suggestion of adding a feminine element, they have been dominantly suggesting male songs, and while they had one girl: pretty heejin-ssi, she thought it would be interesting if ... -- perhaps ... “a girl group, maybe?” and she waits, with expectant eyes as the group digests her words.
( they end up agreeing on she’z ‘luv’ and mijoo couldn’t have been more ecstatic -- if the mimicing of the iconic L-O-V-E hand movements wasn’t a tell-tale sign )
                                         ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
as choreography goes, mijoo is no where near as athletic as any of the team. watching, and grimacing, when seolhyun brings up the idea of doing squats in order to build the muscle and endurance in order to pull of the more complicated movements at the beginning of the performance.
purposely pretending not to notice the look seolhyun passes her way when she brings it up -- personally praying she’s not forced to participate for team morale. ( thanking god when the day passes and she seems to be saved from the torture that would come to her thighs )
in the days leading up to the performance, while she’s not as busy seolhyun or wonwoo, she’s still confined by her own practices; running back and forth from the practice rooms to the vocal lessons that when she’s able to come visit the team while the other coaches are away, it’s at a time when they’re doing the dread squats seolhyun had suggested and mijoo can’t help but laugh ( trying with utmost care to not sound like some wicked stepmother as she did so ) at the sight: one by one, the four of them were lined up doing squats all while harmonizing various parts of their song ( a practice mijoo had suggested after the four had finished singing flo-rida’s low for the millionth time ) ; phone in hand as she filmed footage to send to the coach group chat she shared with seolhyun and wonwoo.
an attached ‘🤪🦵🦵 LEG DAY FOR DAYS’ comment sent along with the video shortly after.
                                      ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
perhaps, saying all was forgiven was spoken too soon. let it be known now, mijoo wasn’t partial to scary things.
she did not take kindly to being scared.
whether intentional or not, all she can remember is the memes that followed her ridiculous screams during royal survival. honestly, she had thought her screaming career had ended then and there. dusted her hands of anything scary and that was that.
but here it is, in plain sight -- hidden beneath smiles and false senses of securities as she and ella are walking, talking simultaneously -- an unfortunate rookie move in this case -- as the door is pushed open and --
“boo!”
she’s immediately collapsing on the floor, crawling backwards into the hall, screaming at the top of her godly lungs, “DEMONS! DEMONS!” -- her might propelling whatever sound could come from her all while pointing a finger into the room. it was a dirty trick and one mijoo probably should have saw coming but that didn’t mean she couldn’t still feel hurt by it.
her hurt is shown in the case of pouts and the tears that were rounding tear-ducts as she’s helped up from her fetal position at the other side of the hallway by suwoong. she’s still sniffling, fingers to her heart, hoping to calm it’s racing pulse, all while mumbling, “i forgive you but that was really, really mean.”
                                     ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
one day, it’s a day of reminiscing -- and while most days, all mijoo does is avoid it. today, she finds her peace and laughs at the memories that flood her.
they’re wonderful memories, days that started her journey -- that led her all the way to here. she opens up like a book untouched, dust in the air as she breathes in the memories and laughs along the way. “my favorite performance?” she sighs, head shaking. “it’s been years. let it be known that i participated way back when in 2013 during the first mgas, so i’m not sure how relevant the performance is these days but it was our final performance. i was on a team with eclipse’s haseul, too. we performed after school sunbaenim’s ‘because of you’ and surprisingly, i rapped. i know, shocker, right? but i think that’s my most memorable because it definitely pushed my limits. we were fighting for our dreams, much like you guys are now -- and the only way we knew to win was to fight it with every inch of our potential.”
“just like how i see you guys do, every single day you come to practice. just like how i know you guys will when you get up on that stage saturday.”
and while it’s not a promise for the better, mijoo knows ( she digresses, hopes ) there’s no regrets to follow.
                                          ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
it’s too soon -- smooth sailing is an assumed default and mijoo is a fool to take to this carefree nature.
when they come for another visit, to supervise the practice again, the team announces they’ve changed the plan for the finale. this shocks them all.
enough that mijoo finds herself making a face, one that doesn’t hide her skepticism as they show her just what they meant by changing the performance.
and of course, it was a joke.
but maybe, just maybe, it was the first time, mijoo almost felt the flame of frustration strike a chord in her ( one that was quick to be extinguished once the laughter had put a dent in the wall and allowed the flood of jest to overcome them one by one ).
again, mijoo comes with a pout -- and a, “yah! that was mean! i thought you guys were really serious!”
                                           ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
in the days leading up to the performance, she’s more and more scarce as her own schedules take time away from helping but she does what she can. and she hopes that’s enough. on one of the last days, she lingers to the side; not saying much rather than watching them proceed again and again. not to the point of exhaustion but she can see their profiles well, see the improvement flexed into their bodies at each performed segment.
they’re trying their hardest, much like last week.
hopefully, this final time, victory treats them just the same.
