it’s funny how drastically life can change in a matter of seconds. how one moment can take your life down a path you never expected; someone could get engaged or find their dream job. someone could be here one minute and gone the next. or, in tatum’s case, someone could unexpectedly became one of the joint guardians to their dead best friend’s baby. her confidence wavers each time she sets her eyes on them— the same person who had found someway to irritate her every goddamn day since they’d met, who she had personally deemed public enemy number one… and the person she was now expected to co-parent with. as she exhales a shaky breath, she can’t help but think about that this is not how she thought her life would turn out. “so,” the woman speaks up, voice steady as she addresses them. “you don’t have to get involved in this if you don’t want to. i’m sure i can handle it on my own.”
