A pair of vintage, miniature Cornish-style flagons. These 3-inch jugs of alcohol were traditional stoneware, often sold as souvenirs during the final days of coast holiday culture in Britain, at a time when Devon and Cornwall were often seen as an unspoilt land with the best potteries, cider makers and traditional rum distillers in the UK. These, most likely late 60s/early 70s, are great examples of mass produced souvenir jars. Of note is that the Countryman jar still contains a fair amount of cider, and the shrunken cork has had to be replaced with a modern foam plug in order to protect the rest of my antiques cabinet. I suspect from the corks, prints and finishes used that these are slightly earlier examples, though it's not an easy thing to properly date - the nature of these things means that they were pumped out in their thousands for years, and Sextant Navy Rum carried the same design for around three decades. #Rum #Cider #Flagon #Jar #Stoneware #Antiques #Vintage #Alcohol #Memorabilia #Earthware #AntiqueCeramics #VintageCeramic #Souvenir #AntiqueSouvenirs #Retro #VintagePottery #CountrymanFarmScrumpy #SextantNavyRum https://www.instagram.com/p/CnDF-pLMy3w/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
