IT    HURTS.    EVERYTHING    HURTS.      she almost can’t tell the source of it.   almost ,   but the sticky feeling seeping through her suit helps pinpoint the location.   her side ,   speared right through.   for even catra ,   with all her heightened senses ,   cannot notice everything in the  chaos of a battlefield.   whoever got her managed a  lucky hit.   so she falls halfway through a leap ,   bones crying out as she shits the hard ,   uneven ground.   catra yelps ,   rolling through dirt & debris before her body finally stops.

maybe she  blacks out.   catra doesn’t know.   only that she blinks longer than necessary ,   &   when her eyes open again ,   she opens them to a sea of blonde hair & blue eyes framed by furrowed brows.   ADORA.   bloody scrapes ,   dirtied by battle ,   cover pale skin.   catra presumes her own body looks  far worse  shape.   she grunts ,   eyes struggling to focus.      ❛❛    h-  hey adora ,    ❜❜      she manages ,   eyes clenched against the pain.      ❛❛    coming to  gloat over your victory ,   huh ?   can’t say i blame you.   i would be ,   too.    ❜❜

catra grits her teeth ,   biting back what  borders on a whimper.   she lifts up her hand just long enough to glance down at it.   blood coats it completely ,   staining her palm ,   dripping down her wrist & arm.   with a forced breath ,   catra clamps her palm back down against the wound.   it takes a few seconds before she even processes adora’s words ,   but once they do ,    she can’t help but scoff.      ❛❛    i’m f—   i’m fine !    get away from me !    ❜❜      catra snaps ,   shoving out weakly with her free hand.      ❛❛    i don’t—   urgh .  .  .   i don’t need you.   stop .  .  .   acting  like you’re my friend.    ❜❜
