Short-Form lore for Xayah and Rakan’s out
Rakan:
As mercurial as he is charming, Rakan is an infamous vastayan troublemaker and the greatest battle-dancer in Lhotlan tribal history. To the humans of the Ionian highlands, his name has long been synonymous with wild festivals, uncontrollable parties, and anarchic music. Few would suspect this energetic, traveling showman is also partner to the rebel Xayah, and is dedicated to her cause.
“I got freedom. I got a lady. I got a cause I'd die for.”
Xayah:
Deadly and precise, Xayah is a vastayan revolutionary waging a personal war to save her people. She uses her speed, guile, and razor-sharp feather blades to cut down anyone who stands in her way. Xayah fights alongside her partner and lover, Rakan, to protect their dwindling tribe, and restore their race to her vision of its former glory

Vastayan Notes
Landwalker Tribes (so far):
1. Ahri; "My beloved, jewel of Ionia": Not exactly a tribe - rather a primal Vastayan. She seems to be very long-lived, perhaps immortal. Alluded to that she comes from or originated an unknown tribe of vastayans.
2. Khonlui: Tagged with a footnote of "Rhinobears?" which implies two things; that one - Rhinos and Bears exist in this universe, and two - The Khonlui are some form of Man-Bear-Rhino. Most likely just they might just be humanoids with rhino characteristics, mislabeled rhinobears because of their size.
3. Kiilash: Rengar is one of these. Reminisce of big cats like tigers and jaguars. The Kiilash are pack hunters that value resolve and ability; and probably conduct ritual hunts. They live within Shurima (Otherwise known as Southern Valoran).
4. Lhotlan: Much of what we know comes from Xayah and Rakan. Not exactly tribe-like, but more or less very social creatures when bonding with another of their kind. While they may be flightless, they are very agile and dexterous.
5. Ophelis: A footnote describes them as 'Charming', so I'm assuming this name was inspired by Orpheus who was a legendary Greek musician and poet. Orpheus's major was that he was able to charm anything (his charm was even more powerful than the Sirens). Orpheus also married a wood nymph. So, from all this - I could assume that the Ophelis have powerful charms and often dwell in forests, perhaps near caves - they may even look like vipers which would work well since snakes exists within tropes that they can be hypnotic. Ophis also means snake in Greek, so that's more reason to suggest they may be snake-like.
6. Shimon: Monkey-people, or at least the tribe of Wukong. Typically they "are a wise, cautious people, and as pacifists, chose to build their society away from landwalkers, cultivating their society atop the tallest trees in Ionia. The Shimon see life as an evolutionary climb to wisdom, thus upon death, the Shimon believe they become stones, returning to the soil to begin the climb of life again." 7. Sodjoko: Not much is known, appeared in Xayah's color story "Puboe Prison Break." Seem similar to the Lhotlan. They might be a mix of many different Vastayans, since Xayah refers to one as juloah.
Tribes of the Sea (so far):
1. Makara: Noted as 'Carnivorous, Ever-Smiling' - perhaps they are similar to sharks? They could also be hiding something far more sinister in their nature hinted by their constant smiling, or maybe they are incapable of not smiling or putting their lips together. Still too little information for me to guess effectively.
2. Marai: Nami's tribe which has been expanded on recently - Kind, dutiful, and constantly protecting the world from the Void (at least until recently.) Very in tune with the ocean.
3. Raylu: Probably similar to manta-rays. Not much I can ascertain as of now. Any thoughts would be welcomed.
Tribes of the Sky (so far):
1. Besheb: Honestly this the worst than the Raylu with their name. I can't tell you anything about these dudes except maybe they might be pretty beautiful? Don't take my word for that.
2. Chyra: "The Silent Chorus" - Maybe a rather large group of migatory bird-people who use infrasound to communicate, or even some-sort of non-verbal communication. (They could possibly be mute?) This name is hard to pinpoint it could be anything inspiring it from centaurs, Pegasus, spiders, songbirds, to golden eagles.
3. Strig: Described as 'Reptilian Butterflies'. The base word might possibly be derived the vulgar Latin word for Screech Owl, strigāre. Which would place these as perhaps nocturnal hunters, maybe even very aggressive and calculating. Also, in folklore - there is a monster called a Striga, which have been associated with screech owls, birds of sorcery, whose feathers were used to cast magical spells in classical myths (and later succubae). Strigas are also characterized as beautiful in many versions of the myth. So a mixture of demonic and angelic features could be displayed by their reptilian and insectoid features (or perhaps their owl-like features misconstrued as butterfly features).
