six sentence sunday
rules: post 6 sentences of an unfinished work
Was tagged last minute by @augustjustice! Thanks for the motivation to give this chapter an actual ending :)
This is from my Steddie Startrek fic. Gotta start dropping hints about S'tevan's tragic backstoryTM to give Eddie a reason to poke the bear a little.
“For the right person, even an ambitious officer would make sure to keep a relationship alive, no?” Eddie could have sworn he saw S’tevan’s composure slip again for a second, before haughtiness overtook his features as he opened his mouth. “No, I don’t believe that’s realistic. Now, Lieutenant, I recommend you hurry and finish up your duties; I have engaged the company of Officer Brixx, and I am sure he is most eager for us to begin tonight’s activities.” Eddie chewed his lip as he watched S’tevan walk away. He’d never been one to let go of something once he got ahold of it, and right now, he was very interested in what else might cause S’tevan to lose his precious self-control like that.
It's nearly tomorrow right now, so this is a no pressure tag for whenever @chaosgremlinmunson!

Logical imperfection - Chapter 3 (Steddie Star Trek AU)
Chapter 3 is now live! In which Eddie is leading his first away mission, and we get to hint at S'tevan's Tragic BackstoryTM.
Eddie continued to fuss with the machine for several minutes before his anxiety and anger finally boiled over. “Stupid hunk of junk!” He growled, kicking it in frustration. In response, the water purifier sputtered to life and kicked out a cloud of sand directly into Eddie’s face. Coughing, half blind, he flailed around wildly before losing his balance and falling flat on his ass. Truly the picture of a calm and collected senior officer. “I see your decade of experience in engineering has well prepared you for desert survival tactics.” S’tevan commented dryly, leaning against some rocks a distance away. Eddie glared at his pointy-eared rival. Some security officer he was, letting his crewmates injure their bodies (and egos). But after months of jabs about how planetary missions were the only real work in Starfleet, Eddie didn’t want to give S’tevan the satisfaction.

Eddie turned around and fiddled with the array. “Ah yes of course, Steve, security officer extraordinaire, savior of many a fresh-faced Academy graduate!” he said, in what he hoped was a neutral, definitely not jealous tone. Based on Dustin’s stories, the man had to have sunshine coming out of his ass from how good he was at his job. And possibly a death wish, considering he willingly took on an entire pack of flesh-eating mobile plant-dogs to save the lives of his crew mates while they were trapped in an underground cavern of horror, armed with nothing but a makeshift bat’leth. Or how he was able to withstand Romulan torture methods for two days. And who could forget the tale of the time he managed to earn the respect of not one but four Klingon captains without a single drop of blood spilt. Eddie forcibly shooed away the mental image of a muscular man who looked suspiciously like the love child of Kirk and Worf wrestling with a Gorn warrior.
Aka what if Steve was a Vulcan clashing with his human coworker?
Was inspired to write this after reading sparklyslug's t'hy'la, which features Eddie as the Spock analogue. Having a lot of fun writing this one and translating the characters to a Star Trek Universe!
