Hyperloop to transport publiczny (oraz transport towarów), który jest szybszy od połączeń lotniczych, zachowując niskie koszty użytkowania na poziomie transportu drogowego lub kolejowego. Technicznie Hyperloop opiera się na kapsułach, mieszczących na pokładzie do 28 osób, które poruszają się w "tubach" z prędkościami dźwięku.

Główne cechy: - szybkość i wydajność, - bezkolizyjność, - częstotliwość odjazdów (co 40 sekund), - gotowość (24h), - niskie koszty utrzymania.

Schemat działania: - rury, na których końcu znajdują się silniki liniowe do przyspieszenia i wyhamowania kapsuł, - rury mocowane na pylonach, w takich sposób aby uwzględnić tolerancje oraz zapewnić odporność na temperatury i warunki atmosferyczne, - co około 110 km, w celu niwelacji starty prędkość, będą występowały silniki liniowe. Pokrycie trasy silnikami na poziomie 1%, - wewnątrz trasy, ciśnienie obniżone (pompy próżniowe), tak by zminimalizować starty prędkości, - kapsuły posiadają kompresor, który przepompowuje powietrze z czoła wagonu na jego tył (nawarstwianie się powietrza), dodatkowo te powietrze ma wytworzyć poduszkę powietrzną między kapsułą a rurą (lewitacja). - kapsuła wyposażona jest w system chłodzenia oraz baterie

Hyperloop bywa krytykowany, m.in. pod względem potencjalnego hałasu, ewentualnych drgań, problemy w przypadku aktywności sejsmicznej, utrudnionej lub braku możliwość ewakuacji oraz braku możliwość przemieszczania się we wnętrzu kapsuły.

Czas przejazdu (Melbourne - Sydney): 55 min, pociąg 3:15h, samolot 4:30h, samochód 10:45h.

Hyper Poland - zespół (około 30 osób) projektujący rozwiązania dla Hyperloop (kompresor, dworce, kapsuła), biorący udział w Hyperloop Pod Competition.

Koncepcja jest bliska idei pneumatycznej kolej, która w uproszczeniu jest ewolucją poczty pneumatycznej np. Beach Pneumatic Transit (1870, 95 metrów, Nowy Jork) lub Crystal Palace (1864, 550 m, Londyn).

  This week Aaron and David are alone to talk about Star Trek Voyager season 5 episode The Disease. We wanted to get into this episode because we referenced it the last time we spoke about Voyager in the Nightingale episode. Two is the loneliest number that you'll ever do when you are Harry Kim and there is no reason you can’t be together in the story. He can’t be with his love because of silly 90’s television rules! This is a surprisingly strong episode of Voyager even though it is a Kim strong episode. We have fun discussing the episode and making up silly words for the parts of love! Aaron brings it with some great background info The Disease’s two main guest stars be sure to listen till the end to hear these. There are no borg in this episode but we did have a Borg Queen Martini to drink. You know the drill mix or pour yourself a drink because it’s time for your weekly shot of Star Trek.
