Jaipur foot – Overview of the activities in 2022 and beyond
Jaipur foot gave new hopes and encouragement for amputees to be back on their feet in 2022. The prosthetic limbs that were fitted have helped in changing lives of many people around the world. We as the best artificial limb centre in India were able to reach amputees by organizing fitment camps in places like Fiji, Syria in 2022.
Jaipur foot other activities and achievements during the year – 2022 included-
·         Inauguration of permanent Jaipur foot facility in Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital in Indore – Madhya Pradesh
·         Organized Jaipur foot camp in Vietnam
·         Organized Jaipur foot camp under “India for Humanity” to commemorate 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in Dhaka – Bangladesh.
The Jaipur foot camp is being organised as part of the Indian government's "India for Humanity" initiative, which was started on October 9 to honour Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birthday and is in keeping with its long-standing ethos and belief in "Vasudevaya Kutumbakam," which means the world is a family
As part of a friendship and cooperation programme between Vietnam and India, the first Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Camps for fitting best prosthetic leg above knee free were established in July 2018 in Vinh Phuc and Phu Tho, two provinces in northern Vietnam. Since then, the facilities have assisted hundreds of individuals with impairments in receiving prosthetic limbs to lessen their challenges.
The Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti or BMVSS team also travelled to Syria to establish a camp for on-the-spot Jaipur Foot (artificial limb) fitting. The BMVSS team established a camp in Damascus to give 600 amputees new limbs in 42 days.
A rehabilitation camp for the disabled was hosted by Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti in the month of September – 2022 for physically impaired destitute people in the Maoist-hit tribal areas of Sukma in the Bastar region. These people received assistance in the form of artificial limbs, crutches, wheelchairs as part of free wheel chair charity in India, callipers, tricycles, as well as hearing aids.
As part of its outreach mission, BMVSS also runs around 50 on-the-spot limb/calliper fitting camps a year in various districts and remote areas of India, in addition to its 24 regular clinics. The technicians may use the BMVSS mobile workshops or rented trucks carrying supplies to get to these camps.
When the patients arrive at the campgrounds with the help of local organisers and request the limbs, these teams set up temporary workshops there. Aside from artificial limbs, best Stanford leg Knee in India and callipers, these camps occasionally provide hand-pedalled tricycles, wheelchairs, and crutches as needed by grantees and sponsors.
Unless the circumstances are difficult, limbs and callipers are often supplied the same day or within the next one to two days. The Indian government and, in some circumstances, private benefactors provide financial assistance for these camps in India.
In contrast to other institutions' camps, those run by BMVSS are one-stop shops where patients may be measured, have a custom limb or calliper created, and have it fitted all in one visit rather than having to return several times as is the case with most other institutions.
Conclusion
In this New Year – 2023, Jaipur foot continues to strive for the betterment of the people with disabled and amputees to help them achieve their dreams. Beginning January 26, 2023, the Embassy in Beirut will host the Jaipur Foot Camp in collaboration with the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health. At this camp 300 artificial, below the knee limbs will be provided and fitted at free of cost on the spot, which is at Rafik Hariri University hospital, Physiotherapy department – Beirut. for more info visit here- http://jaipurfoot.org
