Task 01: The Interrogation of Sharon Wilson
Tumblr media
“This is such bullshit. Do you even know what you’re looking for or are you just trying to waste everyone’s time in order to seem productive?”
Only after she voices her annoyance does she take the seat that’s offered. She leans back in the chair trying to put distance between herself and the interrogator while folding her arms across her chest to close herself off. Despite the clearly closed off body language she’s using her posture is rather relaxed. She’s been in this room hundreds of times before after all and even if she hated being there she at least knew the setting.
Is this the first time you’ve been called to the precinct? Do you have a criminal record?
“You guys already know this answer. There’s not a Wilson in this town who doesn’t have a record. So why don’t you look it up?” She already knows they’ve read through her file. After all she was known to work with one of the biggest criminals in town. Not to mention her actual record dated back from the time she was fifteen to just last week. Sure her record was all for fairly minor crimes. But with a reputation like hers how could she not end up looking at least a little suspicious?
Where were you during the evening of Ms. Winnipeg Sanders’ disappearance? Specifically between the hours of 8 and 11pm?
This question manages to elicit a smirk from Sharon. She knew exactly where she was at the time and knew for a fact there was evidence of her whereabouts. Knowing something the police didn’t and being able to rub alibi, that wasn’t entirely made up, in their faces felt like a victory to her. “I was at work. From Seven Thirty PM to Five Thirty AM. Every Sunday to Thursday I work as a receptionist at The Barrie Orphanage. You can check the security cameras, check my clock in time or ask the night custodian. I was there.”
Can you describe what you were doing immediately before that?
“Yeah I’d just gotten done with your mom.” Classy.
“Let’s see....” Now she pauses to think, drumming her fingers against her arms and tilting her head back like that would help her remember.
“I was at home with my brothers. We’d just finished dinner and were fighting over the remote. We stayed there until I left at seven twenty with the car.”
Can anyone confirm your whereabouts at this time?
“My brothers can and the nosy ass next door neighbor. I caught her with her ear pressed against the door. Which by the way” Now she uncrosses her arms and leans forward onto the table resting her arms on it.
“When are you going to go knocking on her door? She’s been dealing coke for years and yet you guys just turn a blind eye. She got something on all of you or what?” Whether this is true or not, it doesn’t matter to Shock. Her bringing it up is simply to show how highly she’s taking the interview.
How well did you know Ms. Winnipeg Sanders?
This question makes Shock’s smirk falter. She leans back off the table yet her arms remain uncrossed. For a split second the tips of her mouth curve down to a scowl and she feels herself glance away. She forces her eyes to focus again on the person before her as she speaks “I didn’t. I spoke with her exactly once and that’s it.”
Did you and Ms. Winnipeg Sanders ever have beef, or a quarrel? Have there been moments where you wished - even if it were just in the heat of the moment - to inflict harm on her?
“Why the hell would I want to hurt her? All she ever did was bake cookies and act like some god damn saint.”
What was your reaction when you heard about the news?
She gives a shrug at this question “Same as everyone else I guess. Pretty shocked.”
When was the last time you saw Ms. Winnipeg Sanders? Did you notice anything different about her?
“I don’t know. A few months ago, maybe. I was passing by the shop and she was outside with some free samples, I think. She didn’t seem that different. I didn’t exactly stop to ask her how her day was. See I have more important things to do then waste people’s time with questions all day.”
Do you know anyone who may have had any problems with her? Do you know anyone who may have had it out for her?
She rolls her neck from side to side attempting to pop it. “I don’t fucking know.” Actually she did have one idea. But like hell she’d sail the Boogie man upstream like that. So instead she looks for a scapegoat.
“What about the big freak that’s always fucking things up? Randy, Ralphie, whatever his name is. Or maybe the cat lady cafe or whatever the hell that place is called. Don’t cafes and bakeries kind of compete with each other? They might know something.”
Have you noticed anything peculiar since the disappearance? Anything special you think is worth mentioning?
“Nope. Now can I go or do I need to call a lawyer?” With that she pulls her phone out of her back pocket holding it up to show she was serious to this threat. Though she’d agreed to take this interview without a lawyer present, only to get the police to stop bothering her about showing up to it, she wasn’t the trusting sort. Even if she was innocent she didn’t want to take anymore of these interviews without someone on her side. After all she didn’t believe the police would be.

*: ・゚∙ * SUNNYSIDE’S FIRST TASK : ‘ the interrogation ‘
Tinsley smiled politely at the police officer as she sat down in the chair - crisscross apple sauce, out of habit. She could feel there was little room left for snickers and pranks. There rarely was when the adults were talking. And now they stood around her, asking her to do the one thing no one ( including herself ) believed she was capable of: have a grown up talk. Gulp.
is this the first time you’ve been called to the precinct ? do you have a criminal record?
“Well, I think we both know I’ve been here before. I’ve sat in that chair outside at the desk, wrapped in a blanket and sipping hot coco after you guys rescued me from… you know, that immensely tall treehouse. But that visit’s probably not even on record.” Tinsley brushed a hair behind her ear, hoping positive news would ease the officer’s minds. The way she would excite her parents about having made a beautiful drawing before admitting it had been done with marker on their drywall. “I suppose it is on record that I… was also involved in the damaged property of said treehouse a few days after. So yeah, I’ve sat behind the locked cell door over there too. I doubt you’d want me to recall each and every incident on there from breaking a window to spraypainting a wall.”
where were you during the evening of ms. winnipeg sanders’ disappearance ? specifically between the hours of 8 and 11 pm ?
“Last Saturday?” Tinsley coughed, shifting in her seat uneasily. “Uh, let me think for a second…” Luckily they didn’t know the girl well enough to know she would never hesitate to tell about every single one of her memories as if they were all worth the story. This granted her an excuse to ‘think’ and ponder whether how much of the truth she should unveil. “I’m pretty sure I was at home, working on my art assignment, officer.” She nodded as if she’d just decided on that. Anything better than admitting she was a minor at the Clowder, right?
can you describe what you were doing immediately before that ?
“Sure, I was getting ready-” Her breath hitched. Another cough. “For dinner.” She finished curtly.
can anyone confirm your whereabouts at this time ?
“Well, I share an apartment with my older sister. She probably recalls I was home, mhm!” Tins felt bad for throwing her sister on the bus like this. What if the other Bell would accidentally ring the alarm on her? “Though sometimes we get so caught up in our work that we sort of forget about the world. I’m telling you, sometimes we sit with our backs to each other and simply forget the other’s there too until hours later.” At least she could muster up a giggle. The most innocent sound of all.
how well did you know ms. winnipeg sanders ?
“Oh right,” For a second it had slipped Tinsley’s mind that she wasn’t on trial here. She was merely asked to help in an ongoing investigation for the town’s favourite baker. “Honestly, I know I stopped by her store a lot and she always remembered my order somehow. But other than the usual politeness of ‘there you go’s’ and ‘thank you’s’, we didn’t discuss a lot. I asked her to follow me on Instagram once, that’s as far as our personal lives intertwined.”
did you and ms. winnipeg sanders ever have beef, or a quarrel ? have there been moments where you wished – even if it were just in the heat of the moment – to inflict harm on her ?
Did she really sound that nervous? She thought of the lucky socks she was wearing and hugged her legs closer to her body as she softly rocked back and forth on the chair. “No, no, oh my gosh!” Such overreaction may seem suspicious, she realized too late. “I… don’t always agree on her choice of friends, let’s say but that just made me stay away from her. I would never call her out on being wrapped around Wendy Darling’s finger.” Out of force of habit, Tins rolled her eyes at the mere mention of the name.
what was your reaction when you heard about the news ?
“Um, I think it was my mum who told me? But I usually don’t pay that much attention to what she says. I remember that soon everyone was talking about it though. It felt quite unusual that a negative story like this got so much attention around Sunnyside. The papers usually leave out those headlines, want to give people a reason to smile and all that.” She shrugged, almost as indifferent as when she found out some old baking lady stole the spotlight that easily. The only reaction it had brought forth? A long afternoon spent on imagining what it would be like if she, herself would go off the grid for a while. Who would miss her? Who would look for her?
when was the last time you saw ms. winnipeg sanders ? did you notice anything different about her ?
“Well, I can tell you if you promise to keep it between us…” Tinsley leaned forward on the desk with a sugary sweet smile. “I bought some doughnut holes the day before she disappeared. So don’t tell my mum because she believes I only treat myself once a week, tops!” Her eyes actually widened, as if this was the biggest secret pushing on her conscious and she felt horrible for lying to her mother – as every kind, innocent child should. “Ms Sanders seemed alright to me though. Mixed up my order but then again, I usually go for the doughnut, not the holes…” The mere thought that Tinsley’s sullen expression and tiny tantrum outside of the bakery had somehow pushed the lady beyond her boundaries was rather unsettling. For once, she didn’t want to have anything to do with it, to be honest.
do you know anyone who may have had any problems with her ? do you know anyone who may have had it out for her ?
“I’m not really one to point fingers, sorry! Though they do say that it’s usually the people closest to you, don’t they? So then I can only refer back to Wendy if I really must.”
have you noticed anything peculiar since the disappearance ? anything special you think is worth mentioning ?
“A lot of the same people have been hanging around her shop… looking inside or calling out for Miss Sanders. I don’t know, it may just be nothing but it’s a bit icky if you ask me. They seem so convinced Miss Sanders might hear them that it almost looks like they know which way to yell at.” Her name? Cleared. Darling’s name? A little subconsciously sullen. That’s just the way she liked it. One day it would all add up and she’ll have a front row seat to watch it all crumble down.
Tinsley put on a smile once they told her she was ready to go. “Thank you so much for hearing me out!” She beamed ( as if this had been her idea all along. ) “I’ll be on my way now but if there’s a phone number I can call if I think something…” She glanced at officer Nick on her way out, the tiniest of smiles toying on her lips. “I’ll be sure to keep you up to date one way or another, inspector.” Her legs felt wobbly after sitting cross-legged for so long. ( Not to mention the anxiety that had dragged her body down in there. ) So despite wanting to seem helpful and on top of things, Tinsley made sure to skip the hell out of that place before they could call her in for something other than pleasantries.

🛠 •  SUNNYSIDE’S FIRST TASK : ‘ the interrogation ‘
Felix took off his cap with a certain sense of civility yet fiddled with the worn-down strap at the back out of uneasiness. He’d been more than willing to help out with the investigation, even pulled away from his day job to come in and put down a statement, but facing detective Baker was an... impressive situation. Even made him forget to wish all of the officers a good day. “ I’m Felix Junior, sir. From the company Fix-it-Felix & Junior? Reporting for duty.”  Gulp.
Is this the first time you’ve been called to the precinct? Do you have a criminal record?
“Oh, that’s a tough cracker. I’m afraid my answer isn’t the same for both of those questions, sir. Ya see, I work for a repairment company around town and the police department often calls us in for jobs. Last May, for example, I was out here replacing the vending machines. Which are trivials y’all probably don’t want to hear about aha.” Felix placed his hand against his chin, trying to picture all the times he’d been called in before in order to give a thorough answer. “Why, come to think of it... Does it count if you hopped in here to bail someone out? Because I’ve been appointed as the appropriate adult before to bust someone out of a hickley pickley situation. And on top of that, I filled in a lost property form once-” His mouth twisted as detective Baker politely silenced him by shifting the focus on the existence of his criminal record. “Oh my land, no! Never! My record is as spotless as a pin.” Felix said with the sense of pride any model civilian would.
Where were you during the evening of ms. winnipeg sanders’ disappearance? Specifically between the hours of 8 and 11 pm?
“I was down at my usual Saturday evening spot, officer. Just getting my boogie on.” There was an attempt to shake his hands to the Hustle melody in his head but he halted himself midway. The police station didn’t require him to get his groove on, after all. “Uh, there’s a weekly disco dance evening at The Almighty sports complex so that’s where I was at.”
Can you describe what you were doing immediately before that?
“Why, sure! Though it was nothing more than fixin’ myself and skedaddling right out the door and across the street.” Felix laughed lightly, feeling more calm and in control of the situation by the minute.
Can anyone confirm your whereabouts at this time?
“Did John Travolta teach me how to dance? For sure! You bet I don’t raise the roof on my own, sir.”
How well did you know Ms. Winnipeg Sanders?
“Ah, right,” Felix’s smile sized down from beaming to polite. He’d nearly forgotten about the poor old woman’s whereabouts and he felt rather ashamed about getting so swept away. From now on, he would just focus on miss Sanders. “Now, that woman is as sweet as those cherry pies she baked! I don’t know her like the back of my tool shed but she’s always wishing me a splendid day before work and even jumped in a few times as a dance partner. I just can’t believe she’s gone AWOL.” That’s how you used that term, right? There were just so many abbreviations to keep up with these days.
Did you and Ms. Winnipeg Sanders ever have beef, or a quarrel? Have there been moments where you wished – even if it were just in the heat of the moment – to inflict harm on her?
“Jolly, gosh, I wouldn’t dream of it! Do y’all really think someone could just swat at her like she’s a fly?” A worried frown settled on Felix’s face.
What was your reaction when you heard about the news?
“To be honest, I was as lost as last year's Easter egg. The whole situation made no sense to me. And as the days drag by without hearing word from her, I’ll admit I’m working up a bit of worry. But we have to keep thinking positive, am I right? On the bright side she might have just taken out a few days for vacation and is just having the time of her life right about now!”
When was the last time you saw Ms. Winnipeg Sanders? Did you notice anything different about her?
“Why, I saw her the day before the news broke, I’m telling ya!” Felix tried his best to recall that particular day. His day-to-day routine was pretty basic, he loved following his schedule so anything out of the ordinary usually stuck with him. “I beat her to wishing me a good morning, that day. Usually that’s her time to shine but she was caught up with work behind the counter. Nothing suspicious about that though? I mean, yeah, she usually drops everything the moment a client sets foot in the shop but everyone gets as busy as a moth in a mitten sometimes. Especially if you accidentally made a wrong order and got a shipment of a thousand honey jars instead of ten! Though that last thing I’ve just gathered from the town whispers...”
Do you know anyone who may have had any problems with her? Do you know anyone who may have had it out for her?
“Dear, no, I don’t think so? I don’t really believe there are bad people in this town, sir. Just misguided souls but even those wouldn’t harm miss Sanders. She’s a beacon of love and light. Why would anyone want her to... sizzle out?” He whispered as if it were a crime to even think of a crime in the police station.
Have you noticed anything peculiar since the disappearance? Anything special you think is worth mentioning?
“Darn, I truly wish I could help out more but everyone just seems to be throwing themselves at setting up search parties and keeping the shop alive. That’s what I’ve been doing anyways. But ya know what? I’ll be on the extra lookout from now on. Keeping my ears low on the ground and my eyes as sharp as a hawk’s and all of you will be the first to hear back from me!” He decided, even when the detective recommended to stay out of an official investigation and preferably, harm’s way. “No flex on this one, sir. I’m ready to help serve and protect. Or in this case, serve and find back!”

◟˖﹡˙⊰ RALPH’S FIRST TASK : ‘ THE INTERROGATION‘
Ralph looked around the precinct, trying his best not to fidget uncomfortably, trying not to look like he was suspicious of anything. He was not a fan of police stations, at all. For years, everyone thought he belonged in one and that only made him even more upset. He tried his best to make sure he followed all of the rules and never got in trouble, no matter what. And yet, somehow, he always looked suspicious. His heart hurt. He hated that people thought such things about him. Just because his brother was the golden child and he didn’t get along with his father didn’t mean he was a bad guy...
is this the first time you’ve been called to the precinct ? do you have a criminal record?
NODDING, Ralph fidgeted in his spot, really not sure how to talk to the cops. He was afraid to say anything that would incriminate him in any way. His heart felt like it was going to explode out of his chest. Fidgeting with his hands, he looked up at them, his chest moving up and down a little too fast. “I’ve never been to the precinct before. There’s no record of anything criminal. Please stop looking at me like that,” Ralph stated, looking into their eyes. How could he convince them that he wasn’t lying? They stared at him, leaning closer to him, as if they could catch him lying about his explanations. But that was the issue, everything was the truth.
“I’ve never done anything bad. I know I might look bad and I’m big, bulky and intimidating, but I’m not who you think I am,” Ralph explained, not sure what position to sit in anymore. He couldn’t figure out the right position and it was stressing him out. All he wanted was for someone to believe that he really was a good guy. He had no reasons to ever do anything bad. Ralph watched as they narrowed their eyes at him, whispering to each other. The rest of this interview wasn’t going to go well, at all.
where were you during the evening of ms. winnipeg sanders’ disappearance ?specifically between the hours of 8 and 11 pm ?
CROSSING, his arms over his chest, Ralph wondered if what he’d say would actually told them the truth. Would they believe anything he said? This wasn’t going to go over well and honestly, he was afraid they’d hurt him if anything really happened. “I was at home, having a movie night, like I’ve been planning it for quite a while,” he explained, looking directly at them. But they didn’t seem to believe anything he said. What was the point of him being here and actually answering their questions if they were going to assume something about him?
Sighing, Ralph looked down at his hands, not wanting to continue anymore of this. There wasn’t any point. There really wasn’t. “There were a couple movies, actually.” Every word of this was true. With everything that’d been happening in their lives, Ralph and Vanellope planned a movie night to de-stress from everything. They needed a night to just spend time together and not worry about anyone else and in fact, it was perfect.
can you describe what you were doing immediately before that ?
SMILING, Ralph nodded, thinking about the incredible dessert they’d made together. “We baked a new cookie recipe. They were incredible. We’d ordered pizza, ate a little bad that night and tried these new incredible cookies,” he explained. That night was perfect. Both of them needed to spend a night not worrying about anyone else or their work, homework or anything of that sort. And now, he found himself regretting even having the night. If they didn’t believe him, what would happen to Vanellope? They wouldn’t go after her, would they?
Now, he sat there, incredibly worried that she was going to get into trouble. If anything happened to that girl, Ralph would never forgive himself. Now, he couldn’t stop thinking about it. He couldn’t stop thinking about how much he wanted to protect her. Vanellope meant the world to him and he couldn’t ever dream of losing her in any capacity. Each breath got shorter and shorter as he sat there. Ralph looked suspicious, didn’t he? He probably looked really suspicious.
can anyone confirm your whereabouts at this time ?
“YES, Vanellope. She was with me. She lives with me,” Ralph stated, as if it was a well-known fact. Almost everyone in town knew he’d practically adopted her and taken her in as his own. How did they not know this? The problem was that he was a big softie and no one believed him. Everyone was afraid of him and the thought of this made him upset, really upset, far more upset than he should’ve been in a police station.
Biting the corner of his lip, he wondered if he cried how badly that would make him look. Would they laugh at him? Ralph shifted, trying not to think about it anymore. His arms stayed over his chest, crossed and stayed completely still, knowing if he did or said anything they didn’t like, he could get into a lot of trouble. “No, there wasn’t anyone else. Look, ask the pizza company. Talk to my doorman. We didn’t leave the apartment that day,” Ralph explained, his eyes meeting the cop standing in front of him. He wanted nothing more than to convince them he was telling the truth, but at this point, there was no hope in that.
how well did you know ms. winnipeg sanders ?
TILTING, his head to the side, he knew they were trying to push him for information, for something they could use. Ralph wished he was the kind of person that could lie to the police, but he couldn’t do it, not like that. Sure, every once in a while, he could tell a little white lie, but nothing overly big. “She made pretty good green tea lattes. I had them every once in a while, but not enough to know her all that well. I mean, she knew my name, but that’s about it,” Ralph explained. It wasn’t an out right lie, but he had them more often than not, but it wasn’t like it made any difference.
He didn’t go to her shop on a regular basis, so what did it matter? Ralph wasn’t the type of man to hurt anyone or do anything bad. He’d much rather mind his own business and deal with his own demons then worry about anyone else. Already, his own life was stressful and he didn’t have the time to deal with anyone else’s problems. He couldn’t figure out why they thought he’d ever hurt the woman. But then again, he knew everyone in the city claimed he was bad. And it bugged him, quite a lot.
did you and ms. winnipeg sanders ever have beef, or a quarrel ? have there been moments where you wished – even if it were just in the heat of the moment – to inflict harm on her ?
HE was more confused than he should’ve been, but the emotion that came out his mouth couldn’t be stopped. Ralph laughed. It was a loud laugh, one that shouldn’t have been that loud. The kind of laugh that slipped from his mouth was the one that anyone would deem suspicious. From the moment he did it, he knew he was in trouble. “Alright, look, I’m sorry I laughed, but while I may look scary, I’d never hurt a fly, not even if I got mad. I would never actually want to hurt someone,” Ralph tried to explain.
What in the world made them think that he would actually hurt someone intentionally? From everything he’d said, there was no reason for them to be suspicious, but it didn’t matter. They had their opinions and at this point there was nothing he could do to change their minds. Ralph would have to deal with the consequences, no matter what they decided. “But you’re going to believe what you want, aren’t you?”
what was your reaction when you heard about the news ?
SIGHING, he knew this question would come. The problem was that his reaction wasn’t going to be what they wanted it to and it would get him into a lot of trouble. Ralph sighed, looking up at them, his voice now soft. “I was sad, very sad.” But was that enough for him to say? How much did they want him to talk? Now, they really had something on him. His voice was going to tell them everything they needed to know. Ralph knew this wouldn’t end up in his favor, at all. He found himself incredibly worried.
Looking up at them, he continued. “I didn’t think anyone would ever hurt her. She loved everyone in this town.” That was the truth, whether they liked it or not. But he knew, they wouldn’t believe it. Ralph hated these cops, hated that they singled him out, hated that they were tormenting him and making him feel like he was worth less than he actually was. Because the problem was that if they got their way, Ralph would be in trouble, quite a bit in trouble.
when was the last time you saw ms. winnipeg sanders ? did you notice anything different about her ?
FOR, a moment, Ralph thought about it. He didn’t think about these kinds of things. Most of his life was based around Vanellope or his clients and honestly, racking his brain, he had no idea when the last time he saw her was. But he knew that if he didn’t give them an answer they wanted and in a time they wanted, there was no doubt in his mind that they’d take him away. Now, he was terrified. “It was a couple days before she disappeared. I went in for my regular green tea latte after all clients were done for the day,” Ralph explained.
Was that answer good enough for them? As he sat there, he wondered what they would do to him. Their bodies moved closer and closer, as if they did have a plan. Ralph knew he was not going to like their plan. But it was too late now. There wasn’t anything he could do about this. Sighing, he leaned back in his chair, not sure what more to say.
do you know anyone who my have had any problems with her ? do you know anyone who may have had it out for her ?
CHUCKLING, Ralph shook his head. “Like I said, she was loved by everyone. If anyone did, you’d know, believe me,” he explained. While everyone thought he was a bad guy, if you really took the time to get to know him, you’d know there was no possible way that he could ever be that kind of guy. And this interrogation was bugging him far too much. But the faster they got through this, the faster he could leave. And hopefully he wouldn’t have to come back. As they sat there, staring at him, he wondered if they would ever let him go if if they’d just torture him.
He wanted to get out, wanted to get out of this awful room before he lost his mind. How had he even managed to stay in here this long without calling them some kind of name. But now, reaching that point, Ralph couldn’t help it. “You’re a stink brain.” As he said it, he couldn’t help but laugh. Because now, the man was amused. Hopefully, they’d get the message and just let him go. At this point, there was nothing else to say.
have you noticed anything peculiar since the disappearance ? anything special you think is worth mentioning ?
“YOU tell me,” Ralph responded. There had to be something worth remembering, but at this point, he was fed up with them assuming he’d done something. He wouldn’t have, even if someone provoked him. All he wanted was for people to like him, so why would he ever dare do something? “I do remember there being more leaves by her door the day before she left. Maybe that has something to do with it. Someone’s probably hiding something.”
It was a true fact, but were they going to believe it? When they finally nodded, letting him know they were done, Ralph found himself sighing. It was a terrible reaction to give, he knew that. Now, he looked really suspicious. But the door opened. They were letting him go and he was more than excited about this. Ralph nodded and walked out, very calmly, as calm as he possibly could. It would be fine. It would all be fine. He’d be okay.

the nerves were practically written in bright neon colours into the lines and features of ben’s face, the attempt of a polite smile sitting crooked on his lips as if it was part of a faulty code. he hadn’t done anything. he knew he hadn’t done anything serious, least of all in a direct approach towards winnie. however, in the same nerve-wrecking horror which had him skip through the security gates of stores and airports ( which never went off, but he still expected it as if he himself was made of metal ), he rushed through the local police department, already ready to get this over with.
one. is this the first time you’ve been called to the precinct? do you have a criminal record?
Tumblr media
a long pause of silence followed the first and presumably under any normal circumstances the easiest question, benjamin’s eyes staring blankly off into the distance as if his brain had frozen into place. “ i– i– i– “ he started, stuttering as his mind seemed to only slowly reboot again, “ i have never been here !! but i – and i promise. in fact, i will swear an oath if necessary !! that it was never malevolent, let alone with the criminal intent of harming anyone in any way, shape or form – will have an entry registered for ‘ trespassing ‘, recorded about eight months, two weeks and a few days ago. it was for a treasure hunt !! — well, not as much treasure as merely a hunt for what turned out to be a scrap piece of metal, but a scrap piece of metal hunt? doesn’t sound quite as alluring, does it? not that that matter’s right now... i guess... i guess, it doesn’t. “ because this was about winnie and not about him — not yet, anyway.
two. where were you during the evening of ms. winnipeg sanders’ disappearance? specifically between the hours of 8 and 11 pm?
Tumblr media
a breathless huff which could almost resemble a self-ironic smile, because as obvious as the question had been, he’d hoped it would not come. “ when was it? “ the twenty-third of february, which by easy math was a saturday, and ( as odd as it may sounded, considering he was able to give the exact span of time for other events in the pasts ) that was about everything ben knew for sure. “ i was– “ he inhaled deeply, the breath shaking in his lungs, “ i was at the benbow inn !! all the way between eight and eleven. “ or at least he was about ninety percent sure he had been there.
three. can you describe what you were doing immediately before that?
Tumblr media
“ yes !! yes, of course. “ his head went into an immediate series of fast and frequent nods, showing the very willingness he did, matter of fact, have for answering any and all of their questions with the sincerity they wished for — unfortunately, he never remembered many details about specific dates and meetings, let alone when he had many memories with a certain person. they simply blended together; he knew everything about his best friend but it was a mere impossibility to remember a date. “ again, i was at the benbow inn, “ he muttered, hands lifting to rub his temples in an attempt to remember, his glasses pushing up in the process, “ jim and i –  that’s jim hawkins and i – were... “ a pause which was filled with the desperate exhaustion of a sigh. “ we were helping out. saturdays are, on average, the most visited days within a lot of restaurants and stores. “ which, by mere coincidence, was the complete base of his assertion: by simple probability, he had most likely been there.
four. can anyone confirm your whereabouts at this time?
Tumblr media
his eyelids fluttered, head falling into another nod as he looked up again, hands sinking to wipe his sweating palms at his jeans. “ yeah, yeah... sure. “ and he knew he would be able to name jim once again — even if he hadn’t been in the benbow inn that night, ben was basically certain his friend would stand up for him and agree to whatever had to be agreed to ( in a way, they already had agreed on just that, hadn’t they? ), however that was the very problem ben had with it. he didn’t want to drag jim into his memory based problems. “ oh !! “ a jolt went through his shoulders, his back straightening from his slumped defensive position as he suddenly felt he’d kept silent for too long: “ everyone who was temporarily resident at the benbow inn for the time being. unfortunately, i would not know who exactly it was. “
five. how well did you know ms. winnipeg sanders?
Tumblr media
ben paused, eyes narrowing and his knee jumping as he considered their words and whatever may be the most genuine answer to them. “ the description of ‘ well ‘ is indefinitely relative, isn’t it? “ he mused aloud, his shoulders lifting momentarily, “ i know her name is winnipeg sanders, and i know that winnipeg is the capital and largest city of the province of manitoba in canada, but i never asked whether that’s what her name is based on. furthermore, i of course have the knowledge that she owned a bakery and she had legendary self-made honey based baked goods !! i asked for the recipe for her honey muffins once, but she politely declined which i understand. it’s a family recipe. i don’t actually know whether she has a family though. i mean, she obviously would have to have parents of some sort but i do not recall ever meeting or hearing of a spouse or a relative — what was the question again? “ how ( well ) did he know her? right. “ i would consider her an acquaintance with a positive foundation, leading to friendly but mainly on the surface conversations. “
six. did you and ms. winnipeg sanders ever have beef, or a quarrel? have there been moments where you wished – even if it were just in the heat of the moment – to inflict harm on her?
Tumblr media
“ oh god, no !! “ for once, there was no hesitation within his answer or the obvious struggle of remembering the truth. he didn’t need to think twice. “ i would never want to hurt anyone !! we are all merely carbon based life forms. i don’t believe in the existence of real reasons to harm anyone or anything, mentally or physically. “
seven. what was your reaction when you heard about the news?
Tumblr media
“ i uhm... “ another sigh pushed past his lips, his thumb moving to scratch over a stain of oil on his jeans. the truth felt harsh to say, but it was the truth nonetheless and he knew only the truth would help the investigation. “ i don’t have any real emotional attachment to her..? i don’t want to say i felt indifferent – i don’t believe i did – but the interval of my sympathy was a little short. i have had the experience that people leave sometimes, some of them rather abruptly as well and without any prior warnings. i suppose, based on the experience alone, it was – to me, it still is, i guess – more likely that ms sanders decided to leave sunnyside. she would not be the first. i have my doubts that she’ll be the last. “
eight. when was the last time you saw ms. winnipeg sanders? did you notice anything different about her?
Tumblr media
ben had never been one to curse in his life – consider him child friendly, if you will – and yet he could not quite help the quiet ‘ fuck ‘ from tumbling off his lips as his head fell into his hands. the exasperation was visible in his shoulders and the features on his face, the tension tugging at his muscles in his neck. “ i don’t know — i wish i knew !! i do !! i just– “ he shrugged. it had never seemed important to him to remember where winnie out of everyone was. by probability, she stood behind the counter of her bakery and truly, that was the only place where she genuinely mattered to him —  either she was there and he could have a coffee or she wasn’t and he had to get one somewhere else. it was a simple yes or no question and he had never wondered, let alone bothered using some of his brain’s capacity to memorise where she was if she wasn’t in the baker. “ i have a bit of a memory problem. “
nine. do you know anyone who may have had any problems with her ? do you know anyone who may have had it out for her?
Tumblr media
his lips parted, taking a deep breath as if to start another one of his on going sentences and end in the ramblings he was so very well known for. however, instead of responding to the answer in an entire monologue, ben in a rather unusual fashion chose to answer with only a single word: “ no. “
ten. have you noticed anything peculiar since the disappearance? anything special you think is worth mentioning?
Tumblr media
his head came to shake slowly, shoulders lifting once again into the suggestion of a shrug. “ nothing, “ he muttered under his breath, a long pause of silence following yet another single worded answer. “ i am sorry. i really am !! can i leave now? if we are done here, i would like to leave. “

Moana’s First Task
Tumblr media
Is this the first time you’ve been called to the precinct? Do you have a criminal record?
“I don’t have a criminal record, no, but this isn’t technically my first time here. My first grade class came here on a field trip! But I, uh, guess that’s not what you’re talking about.”
Where were you during the events of Ms. Winnipeg Sanders’ disappearance? Specifically between the hours of 8 and 11 pm?
“At 8, I was at the mall, just...shopping. Okay, that’s not entirely true- I was at the mall, but I was getting a tattoo. I didn’t plan on it! But I met this guy named Jack, and he convinced me. Oh God, please don’t tell my parents! They don’t know yet.”
Can you describe what you were doing immediately before that?
“I was biking around Sunnyside. I have a driver’s license but, sadly, no car. It was too cold to be at the beach, or else I would’ve gone, so I just sort of biked across town and ended up at the mall.”
Can anyone confirm your whereabouts at this time?
“My parents know that I was biking around that time, and that Jack guy knows I was at the mall. I can’t remember his last name, but it sounded like ‘skeleton.’ Maybe it was like...Skellison? I don’t know.”
How well did you know Ms. Winnipeg Sanders?
“Not as well as others, because I usually just get iced coffee from the Surf Hut. But whenever I wanted, like, a cookie or a muffin, I’d get it from Winnie’s, and she was so sweet! Now I’m wishing I had gone in more often.”
Did you and Ms. Winnipeg Sanders ever have beef, or a quarrel? Have there been moments where you wished- even if it were just in the heat of the moment- to inflict harm on her?
“No way! She was too nice. I’m not even sure if Winnie was capable of having beef with anyone.”
What was your reaction when you heard the news?
“I was so sad....scared, too. I never thought something like this could happen in Sunnyside, of all places, and not to someone like Winnie. I hope she’s okay...”
When was the last time you saw Ms. Winnipeg Sanders? Did you notice anything different about her?
“It must’ve been a week or two before- Mom wanted a coconut donut, so I picked one up for her on the way home. She didn’t seem different at all! She was as smiley and sweet as ever.”
Do you know anyone who may have had any problems with her? Do you know anyone who have have had it out for her?
“No, not at all! There are some not-as-nice people in Sunnyside, sure, but most of them don’t go to Winnie’s, so they wouldn’t even know her. Besides, I don’t think even a bad guy would hate Winnie.”
Have you noticed anything peculiar since the disappearance? Anything you think is worth mentioning?
“Not that I can remember. Thing’s have been pretty normal, besides Winnie not being there.”

“Will this take long? I was just about to make tea.”
is this the first time you’ve been called to the precinct ? do you have a criminal record?
“I’ve never stepped foot inside this building before. It’s very....stark.” They look around for a moment, before their attention falls on the officer again. “A criminal record? Not that I can recall. Do you?”
where were you during the evening of ms. winnipeg sanders’ disappearance ?specifically between the hours of 8 and 11 pm ?
They place their elbows on the table, puffing up their cheeks before blowing out in a huff. “I was eating.”
can you describe what you were doing immediately before that ?
“At home, working on music.”
can anyone confirm your whereabouts at this time ?
“At my home, no. But I do have recordings from that date and time I can show you. I went out to eat after and ended up sitting with Judy Hopper. It was very full that night, there weren’t many places to sit, so we ate together. She’s very nice.”
how well did you know ms. winnipeg sanders ?
“Not well. I don’t go to her bakery often. I get my sweets elsewhere.”
did you and ms. winnipeg sanders ever have beef, or a quarrel ? have there been moments where you wished – even if it were just in the heat of the moment – to inflict harm on her ?
“No. We hardly speak, I don’t think I could have had a problem with something she didn’t say to me.”
what was your reaction when you heard about the news ?
“Everyone was very sad. She’s really very loved. Do you think you’ll find her soon? I hope you will, then everyone can not be sad anymore.”
when was the last time you saw ms. winnipeg sanders ? did you notice anything different about her ?
“Perhaps a few weeks ago? I went in for some cookies to have with tea. I’m not a very good baker, you see, and I ran out of cookies. She seemed normal. Greeted me like she usually did.”
do you know anyone who my have had any problems with her ? do you know anyone who may have had it out for her ?
“No one had any problems with her from what I recall. Everyone loves her very much.”
have you noticed anything peculiar since the disappearance ? anything special you think is worth mentioning ?
“The ghosts in my apartment have become quite agitated. Do you think that’s related? Perhaps they’re trying to tell me something...”

is this the first time you’ve been called to the precinct ? do you have a criminal record?
Dulcie fidgeted with her fingers, glancing around the interrogation room nervously. “This...is the first time, yes. I’ve never even been inside the building before!” She blinked at the second question. “A criminal record? No, of course not!”
where were you during the evening of ms. winnipeg sanders’ disappearance ?specifically between the hours of 8 and 11 pm ?
She thought for a moment, “W-well...that late at night I was with Thomas O’Malley, We were at my home, just chatting!” Her face flushed slightly as she waved her palms in front of her. “We were on the couch. Just chatting.”
can you describe what you were doing immediately before that ?
She cleared her throat, brushing her hair behind her ears as she nods. “Before spending time with Thomas at home, I was out with Helen Parr! We went out for a little mom-night dinner at Flo’s!”
can anyone confirm your whereabouts at this time ?
“Yes, of course. Helen Parr and Thomas O’Malley.” She goes back to playing with her fingers. “I do hope I’m being helpful, I’m very nervous.”
how well did you know ms. winnipeg sanders ?
At this question Dulcie’s face falls. “Oh, Winnie was a good friend of mine. We chatted all the time when I went in to get coffee. She’d ask me about my day, I’d ask about hers. We talked about my children, my work, anything. I do hope she’s alright.”
did you and ms. winnipeg sanders ever have beef, or a quarrel ? have there been moments where you wished – even if it were just in the heat of the moment – to inflict harm on her ?
“Of course not!” Dulcie pulled back, a look of horror on her face. “Winnie was never anything but kind to me! The only thing we ever disagreed on was baking! And we laughed about that afterwards. It wasn’t even a quarrel. Just a friendly debate...”
what was your reaction when you heard about the news ?
“I was absolutely devastated.” She placed one hand on her cheek, frowning down at the shiny metal table. “I just couldn’t bare the thought that something bad had happened to her. I cried for hours.”
when was the last time you saw ms. winnipeg sanders ? did you notice anything different about her ?
“Well...I went by the bakery the day before, I believe.” Her eyes widened a moment, surprised that she’d forgotten such a detail. “She didn’t seem off in any way. Perhaps a little down, but I thought she was tired, perhaps? She worked so often, and cared so much about everyone, it would make sense if she was a little worn down...”
do you know anyone who my have had any problems with her ? do you know anyone who may have had it out for her ?
She shook her head, once again horrified. “No. Everyone loved Winnie, I can’t think of a single person who would wish harm on her. She was so lovely and kind.”
have you noticed anything peculiar since the disappearance ? anything special you think is worth mentioning ?
“I haven’t noticed anything strange, no. Other than Winnie being gone, everything seems normal.”

The Interrogation of-
Tumblr media
is this the first time you’ve been called to the precinct ? do you have a criminal record?
“It’s definitely not the first time I’ve been here, but I gotta admit, this one’s a first. Never been a suspect in anythin’ like this before. And yeah, I do. I was a dumb and desperate kid and young adult, it happens. It was breaking and entering and petty theft, nothin’ like murder or kidnapping, so you can cross me off your list of suspects now. ”
where were you during the evening of ms. winnipeg sanders’ disappearance ?specifically between the hours of 8 and 11 pm ?
“I was with Dulcie Bonfamille. Gettin’ real cozy and acquainted on her couch if ya want details. I’m sure she’d tell ya the same thing.”
can you describe what you were doing immediately before that ?
“Do ya really wanna hear the details of that?.... I was in my apartment, gettin’ cleaned up. Can’t be smelly and dirty when gettin’ cozy now can ya?”
can anyone confirm your whereabouts at this time ?
“Maybe not the apartment part, you’d have to ask anyone who lives in Axiorn Studios. And yeah, Dulcie will tell ya that I was with her.”
how well did you know ms. winnipeg sanders ?
“I mean we weren’t close or anythin’ but she was a nice lady. She’d always offer me free treats whenever I went in there, and she had the best coffee fifty cents could buy.”
did you and ms. winnipeg sanders ever have beef, or a quarrel ? have there been moments where you wished – even if it were just in the heat of the moment – to inflict harm on her ?
“I only have ‘beef or quarrel’ with people who’re shady and bad. Winnie’s not a shady or a bad person. And I don’t wish to inflict harm on anyone- I’ll fight if I gotta, but I’m a pacifist for the most part.”
what was your reaction when you heard about the news ?
“I mean I was shocked. I thought she just took a vacation. If anyone needs a vacation, it’s her... but I was also pretty disappointed in the police force ‘round here. She’s been gone for a few weeks and you’re only NOW interrogatin’ people? Pretty lazy work if you ask me.”
when was the last time you saw ms. winnipeg sanders ? did you notice anything different about her ?
“God uh... a few days before she disappeared maybe? She seemed pretty fine to me- same old friendly warm Winnie.”
do you know anyone who my have had any problems with her ? do you know anyone who may have had it out for her ?
“Everyone in town loves Winnie, even the shadier characters in town. I don’t see why anyone would wanna hurt her or anythin’.”
have you noticed anything peculiar since the disappearance ? anything special you think is worth mentioning ?
“Nope, nothin’ weird to report. Just find her, she’s a good woman. The town needs her. Now can I go? We’re wastin’ each other’s time.”

Tumblr media
the local police department and all its interrogation rooms weren’t exactly a brand new sight for shego to experience, the letter inquiring her attendance for a quick interview basically capable of being given to her during one of her other many visits instead of bothering the mail. she wouldn’t have cared. in fact, she didn’t care. dressed in all black ( just in case it wasn’t obvious enough that this was practically the funeral of her usually free day ) and in the extra respect-lacking gesture of still wearing her sunglasses even inside, she had walked into the room with a light-footedness as if it was her home — where she could be right now, laying in a bubble bath with a flute of champagne and not a single care in the world, and yet she was here instead, sitting across a detective who considered him important for what? having a missing person case in a town as small as sunnyside: what. a. hero.
one. is this the first time you’ve been called to the precinct? do you have a criminal record?
Tumblr media
an expressively heavy sigh pushed past shego’s lips at the bland simplicity of the question, a sharp steel smile – full of purposefully obvious fakeness – stretching across her lips. “ is this your first time at the precinct? or is this supposed lack of research an attempt to being the first catch question? “ another sigh and her hand lifted to pull her shades off her face, green eyes giving the detective a once over. it seemed she would stay here a little longer. “ as i am sure you know, i do have a criminal record. in fact, it is not singular !! i have one in eleven different countries with several different verdicts. kidnapping and / or whatever you expect happened to winnipeg? is not one of them. “
two. where were you during the evening of ms. winnipeg sanders’ disappearance? specifically between the hours of 8 and 11 pm?
Tumblr media
“ what day was it again? “ boredom was lacing the tone of her voice as her hand waved rather carelessly in the air; skipping apparently through her own thoughts in an attempt to reach the unimportant corners of her mind. “ sunday, was it? saturday? the twenty-third? right. “ the suggestion of an eye-roll did not fail to express her indefinite lack of interest for the matter. “ that night i must have been in the laboratory. it’s a yet non-public project. by contract i am not allowed to talk about it, i am sure you will understand i have to honour my right to remain silent in this case. “
three. can you describe what you were doing immediately before that?
Tumblr media
“ i had to run a few errands in preparation for said project. did you know the walter elias university includes an astonishing chemical lab? in a small tribute to mother nature, we actually combined our orders for the chemical transport !! there was a mishap, unfortunately, and i must’ve spent several hours checking the new supply and preparing the transport between their lab and ours. i have nothing to hide– “ which wasn’t quite the truth, but as it seemed a much bigger crime had taken place, any of hers regarding this manner were practically insignificant, weren’t they? “ –therefore i’ll spare you the research: they’re supplies of hydrogen peroxide and potassium persulfate — ingredients for bleach, as i am not sure you would know, for cosmetic purposes. however, that is genuinely all i can reveal of the matter without overstepping the company’s restrictions. “
four. can anyone confirm your whereabouts at this time?
Tumblr media
“ of course !! “ there was no hesitation to her answer ( as so far, to none had been ) and the combination of a sugary sweet smile and her never lacking confidence merely confirmed her words. “ the doctor, i am sure, would be more than willing to share my working schedule and confirm any and all of my statements !! as the– “ and it took all and any of her willpower, not to include the ever mocking drakken sound, “ –boss, he might be more inclined to talk about what his employee swore secrecy to. the name is drew theodore p. lipsky – that’s l - i - p - s - k - y !! additionally, i should be on the university’s security cameras the hours before the doctor picked me up. you are more than welcome to check for yourself !! “
five. how well did you know ms. winnipeg sanders?
Tumblr media
for possibly the first time just then, shego’s interest peaked, her back straightening ever so slightly and eyes narrowing at the pessimistic choice of words. " did know? “ she repeated, head tilting curiously to the side, “ does it mean you already assume the worst? “ her shoulders leaned back, hitting the back of the uncomfortable chair in a seemingly flabbergasted manner. in reality, shego considered the information to be quite interesting — not because she cared as much about the end of the story – or, to be frank, the beginning, the protagonist or even the mystery around the antagonist – but because there was the potential for something evil. “ i would consider her an acquaintance, but one that’s held in good memory. i knew of her and i knew enough to know she’s been if not the eyes, at least, the ears of sunnyside. “
six. did you and ms. winnipeg sanders ever have beef, or a quarrel? have there been moments where you wished – even if it were just in the heat of the moment – to inflict harm on her?
Tumblr media
“ well... “ the single word was stretched out; obviously contemplating whether the situation was even worth mentioning. however, by the mere chance of witnesses, let alone the record of actual confrontations shego had gotten into, she figured it was perhaps better to hear it from her than anyone else. “ it's barely to be considered a quarrel, it’s hardly a dissension really. i would call it a misunderstanding which simply required a firm reminder of where right and wrong lies. “ shego shrugged, sharpness beginning to edge on her features as she thought back to the one time. “ i mean, she told me to go a little easier on kim !! said the colour green didn’t suit me if it came from jealousy. can you believe that? ME?! being jealous of kimberly ann possible?! in what world?!  — i obviously couldn’t leave that unremarked. “
seven. what was your reaction when you heard about the news?
Tumblr media
“ i suppose i– “ she trailed off, head beginning to shake ever so slowly as she seemed to think back to it and understand how foolish she had been. “ i must’ve thought the same as everyone else? i had seen the ‘ closed ‘ sign in the shop windows and believed her to have gone on vacation. everyone goes on vacation sometimes, right? to think something already happened to her by that time? “ she swallowed, a perfectly manicured hand lifting to sympathetically rest on top of her heart. “ it’s a daunting thought !! “ in reality? shego couldn’t have cared any less, not about the closing of a sugary sweet bakery and certainly not about the woman who disappeared with it. for all she cared? winnie could stay wherever she was now, dead or alive. “ i am sorry, i– “ shego’s hand lifted a little further, fingers pressing gently against her nose as if to hide the emotional shaking of her breath, “ i just– i hadn’t considered this before. “
eight. when was the last time you saw ms. winnipeg sanders? did you notice anything different about her?
Tumblr media
" i barely knew her. i would never be able say whether she acted unusual. “ her shoulders lifted into the indication of a shrug and then sunk once more, lower than they had been before, as though suddenly burdened with the lack of information she had for the police — and wasn’t she truly? how much more fun would she have well knowing of the truth, leading the investigation into the wrong direction and allow herself a little bit of fun, where they – with their nit-picking laws and strictly left vague orders – had ruined hers one too many times. how much joy would she find in seeing the three oh so professional experts run into one dead end at a time — and honestly, who was going to stop her from it?
nine. do you know anyone who may have had any problems with her ? do you know anyone who may have had it out for her?
Tumblr media
" i mean, who would ever..? “ another gentle shake of her head, silently speaking of the impossibility of someone having it out for winnie, and for a mere moment the rhetorical question had once more dipped into the truth. seriously, who would? she’d always liked to think she knew the so called villains of the town, but she couldn’t imagine anyone bothering to go after a woman as bland as winnipeg. and if shego couldn’t realistically imagine one of the bad guys doing it, who of the better ones could she frame? kim would be obvious enough, and no matter how much she wanted to re-pay the strain and annoyance her brother had put upon her, it would seem rather suspicious considering their family’s background. it needed to be someone else; just random enough she had no reason to blame them. “ actually !! there is one. have you ever heard of the name santorini? “
ten. have you noticed anything peculiar since the disappearance? anything special you think is worth mentioning?
Tumblr media
" it’s about the youngling in their flower shop !! i don’t believe i ever caught the name — i am allergic, you see. “ admittedly, to anyone who knew her it might seem she was simply quick to get sick of most people, but in this case she did, matter of fact, mean the flowers. “ but i never forget a face, and i know it was him !! he was near the bakery, playing with fire and what seemed like self-built explosives..? i would never want to accuse someone of arson, but– “ she sighed heavily, anxiously, empathetically, her gaze which had previously fallen into her lap, lifting up again to meet the detectives’, “ –but for winnie’s sake? it’s a terrifying thought; but... maybe he has told her just a little, you know, too much one day and needed to correct his mistake..? he must’ve been interrupted – thank god !! – before he could perform his plan. “ — much unlike her, who would leave the station with a sardonic smile on her face. maybe people would finally understand NOT to disturb shego wobakoff on her vacation !!

THE REDHEAD WALKED INTO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND BY NATURE SHE WAS NERVOUS . ARIEL WAS DEVASTATED ABOUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED TO SOMEONE SO DEAR BUT SHE HAD ALSO BEEN SO DISTRACTED LATELY, IT SEEMED IMPOSSIBLE TO HER THAT THIS WONDERFUL TOWN WAS...OR COULD BE WICKED? IT MESSED WITH HER A BIT AS SHE TRIED TO PREPARE HERSELF FOR WHAT THEY COULD ASK
hello there, welcome to the police department. as you probably know already, we have a disappearance on our hands. a disappearance of no one less than our very own winnipeg. i know, i know… we are all devastated and worried – this is terrible news. that’s why we want to find out the truth about this case as soon as possible ( after all, there is only so long we can go without our daily dose of sweet pastries and fresh, delicious coffee, right ? ). i hope you understand we will need your help for this, and ask for your willing cooperation. now, i know this interrogation room may seem a little scary, but don’t worry too much, we simply want to ask you a couple questions… please, for the love of Walt, answer these in a sincere and honest way.
is this the first time you’ve been called to the precinct? do you have a criminal record?
Ariel looked up at them and smiled sweetly. She hated admitting to herself that this was the first time and situation she was in that her dad couldn’t and wasn’t there to fix it himself. “Uhm no actually never, this is the first time.”
where were you during the evening of ms. winnipeg sanders’ disappearance ?specifically between the hours of 8 and 11 pm ?
She chewed on her bottom lip and thought about it . “Uhm I think I may have been at a music festival not too far from here. It went on all night long .” She kept thinking about it and nodded. “Yeah I’m pretty sure it was a music festival.”
can you describe what you were doing immediately before that ?
“Uh sure... I mean it started at like 7 so we had all made our way there kinda early.” Ariel stopped and started twirling her hair then stopped as soon as she realized what she was doing. “I honestly kind of spent all day pre gaming and getting ready so the actual time isn’t quite clear.” She didn’t want to admit she had been a bit wasted most of the night and that contributed to why she couldn’t remember much
can anyone confirm your whereabouts at this time ?
Ariel nodded with a small smile as she made eye contact with both .” There was a bunch of people there and I interacted with quite a few. I also have photos of the night that have time stamps on them if you need it .”
how well did you know ms. winnipeg sanders ?
Ariel was afraid of admitting she knew her but she couldn’t get in trouble for just being friendly could she ? “Pretty well I suppose , I was always at the bakery and she was good at remembering faces so I loved talking to her. But I didn’t really see her out of work so I guess I wouldn’t say we were friends.”
did you and ms. winnipeg sanders ever have beef, or a quarrel ? have there been moments where you wished – even if it were just in the heat of the moment – to inflict harm on her ?
Ariel laughed softly at the thought, it seemed crazy. “Of course not , I don’t have ‘beef ‘ with anyone but especially not her. She’s so sweet and loving it’s impossible to see anyone just not liking her especially to the point of wanting to harm her ?” She didn’t want to seem unafraid but having someone like that in town was just incredulous.
what was your reaction when you heard about the news ?
“Sad, but mostly shock. Nothing bad has ever really happened here. But also just confused ... why her...in general why ?” She shuddered at the thought of anyone wanting to actually harm her and what kind of person they would be .
when was the last time you saw ms. winnipeg sanders ? did you notice anything different about her ?
Ariel was chewing on her bottom lip once more , trying hard to think . “Maybe a week before her disappearance. Or less. Like I said I frequented the bakery so I was in there about twice a week. But we didn’t talk much so nothing of importance.”
do you know anyone who my have had any problems with her ? do you know anyone who may have had it out for her ?
She shook her head at them. “As far as I know , no. It sounds ridiculous to think someone would.”
have you noticed anything peculiar since the disappearance ? anything special you think is worth mentioning ?
Ariel played with her nails and slowly shook her head. “I don’t think so? I mean of course people are worried but nothing suspicious if that’s what you’re asking for.”
alright, that was it ! thank you so much for your cooperation. hopefully, we will be able to bump into some useful information soon – and if we do, you will be the first one to know !

SUNNYSIDE TASK N° 1: THE INTERROGATION
Tumblr media
ₒ°❀ — THIS was going to be quick. in and out. after all, when you haven’t done anything wrong, it’s ten times easier to keep your cool at an interrogation. at least, that’s what nick thought.
is this the first time you’ve been called to the precinct ? do you have a criminal record ?
Tumblr media
ₒ°❀ — DAMN it. just one simple question, and nick was already sweating beyond compare. how naive of him to think this interrogation was going to be a breeze now that he was a cop ! apparently in sunnyside people in the police force were just as suspicious as anyone else, which was probably a smart thing... cops turning out to be the villains was a recurring theme in movies, so why would it not be like that in real life ? not that that was the case right now -- nick had vowed to himself to stay out of trouble and hadn’t broken his promise since. which was a big deal to him. “ uhm... not the first time, no. back when i first applied for the police academy there were multiple discussions about this exact topic, so... i’m sure you can read all about it in my file. in detail. ”
where were you during the evening of ms. winnipeg sanders’ disappearance ? specifically between the hours of 8 and 11 pm ?
Tumblr media
ₒ°❀ — NICK frowned, trying to think back of the 23th of february. his memory wasn’t the best, but luckily moments spent among friends were a bit easier to remember. “ well, i wish i could tell you i was at an exciting party or something, but i was simply watching law and order at our colleague judy hopper’s apartment, after she returned from dinner. season three, to be exact -- not that that’s relevant info... ” nick answered, stopping himself from trailing off even more. “ anyway, it was an exhausting week at work, so i passed out on the couch, and didn’t leave the apartment until after midnight. ”
can you describe what you were doing immediately before that ?
Tumblr media
ₒ°❀ — THREE questions in, and nick was starting to get less and less anxious every second. he had this under control. he was starting to pay more attention to the way he was being interrogated -- maybe he’d be sitting in that other chair one day. “ i was at home, eating the best hawaiian pizza i’ve ever tasted. my mouth still waters thinking back at it. ”
can anyone confirm your whereabouts at this time ?
Tumblr media
ₒ°❀ — NODDING his head, nick responded: “ yes, officer judy hopper can. and i guess the pizza planet delivery girl has also seen me during that time... what was her name again ? denise ? no, it was jessica. her name was definitely jessica. maybe you can ask her, too. ”
how well did you know ms. winnipeg sanders ?
Tumblr media
“ WINNIE and i were just acquaintances -- i knew who she was, she knew who i was, ” nick told them. the benefit or disadvantage of being a neighbourhood cop. a slight smile forming on his lips as he thought back about the few times he visited her bakery. “ if i happened to be on patrol in downtown sunnyside, i tried to visit her bakery during the afternoon break. she made some delicious muffins -- i tried to suggest her to use blueberries for her next recipe, but i don’t think she was able to make them before she disappeared. ”
did you and ms. winnipeg sanders ever have beef, or a quarrel ? have there been moments where you wished – even if it were just in the heat of the moment – to inflict harm on her ?
Tumblr media
ₒ°❀ — SUCCESFULLY managing to keep himself from laughing at the use of the word ‘beef’ -- that would’ve been inappropriate beyond compare -- nick shook his head. “ no, not at all ! i’ve seen her a few times ever since i moved here and she’s been nothing but kind every time we spoke. she didn’t even loose her patience when i repeatedly asked her to add more blueberries in her pastries -- in her place, i would’ve found that pretty annoying, but winnie kept smiling on like she always did. didn’t bat an eye. that’s how patient she is. the fact that someone could’ve hurt her baffles me. ”
what was your reaction when you heard about the news ?
Tumblr media
ₒ°❀ — “ WELL, at the briefing this morning i was quite excited to find out there was a new case. i’m pretty new here, you know, and comparing to parking duty actual cases are a lot more thrilling and interesting. but of course, once i found out the case was about winnie, i couldn’t believe my ears. she was a fixture in sunnyside, it’s hard to believe she’s not around right now. ”
when was the last time you saw ms. winnipeg sanders ? did you notice anything different about her ?
Tumblr media
ₒ°❀ — “ I was at the bakery that week -- i think it was on monday ? i didn’t notice anything different, except for maybe the fact that she got a haircut. but i’m sure that doesn’t help the investigation. ” he scratched his head as he pondered. “ anyway, i grabbed a croissant and left for parking duty. i wasn’t there long enough to notice anything else. ”
do you know anyone who may have had any problems with her ? do you know anyone who may have had it out for her ?
Tumblr media
ₒ°❀ — SUNNYSIDE did have its fair share of shady people, that was for sure, but nick never saw any of them interact with the beloved bakery owner. “ no, i have no idea who winnie was close to. and it was always so crowded in the bakery, it was almost impossible to overhear winnie’s conversations with the other visitors. i’m sorry. ”
have you noticed anything peculiar since the disappearance ? anything special you think is worth mentioning ?
Tumblr media
ₒ°❀ — NICK wished he had an amazing clue ready to make a huge impression, but in fact, he had nothing. just like the detectives, so it seemed. “ no, that’s the funny thing. life in sunnyside the past few days seemed to have been moving on like nothing has happened. i don’t have the slightest clue as to what might’ve been going on -- maybe it’s a good thing i wasn’t assigned to this case. ”

task one: THE INTERROGATION
when dash had first found out that his time to come into the station overlapped with his last shift of the week, he hadn’t hesitated before calling in to reschedule - after all, could anything be worse than sitting in a waiting area with the rest of his family for however long it would take to get through them all?
as it turned out, yes, it could. stuck sitting on his own, watching the clock on the wall slowly tick forward, his only source of entertainment being clicking a pen he’d managed to snag from the desk - if he was there for much longer, he was fairly sure he’d die.
“daniel parr?”
is this the first time you’ve been called into the precinct? do you have a criminal record?
“First time, yeah. Do warnings go on records? Cause I got one for trespassing once, accidentally, but I don’t know - shouldn’t you guys have that?”
where were you during the evening of ms. winnipeg san-
“Is her name really Winnipeg? Isn’t that like, somewhere in Canada? Like, I thought it was just Winnie - sorry. What?”
where were you during the evening of ms. winnipeg sanders’ disappearance? specifically between the hours of 8 and 11pm?
“Shit, I don’t know. Sorry, that sounds bad - when was it?”
saturday, the 23rd of february.
“Yeah, I still don’t... home, probably? Yeah. I was at home.”
can you describe what you were doing immediately before that?
“I was... walking home from work. I do this security thing at the mall, Saturday’s evening shift.”
can anyone confirm your whereabouts at this time?
“If I was at - my mom and dad, and my siblings. Violet and JJ. You would’ve seen them yesterday?”
how well did you know ms. winnipeg sanders?
“Not enough to know her name was Winnipeg, apparently? I don’t know - she’s sort of always been there, I remember I used to go to the bakery with Dad when I was little and she would always give me something? And I usually stop in after work on when I pass by on a run, she’s got the best coffee in town. A couple months ago I was walking home it was just pouring and even though she was closing up she let me come inside until Mom or Dad could come and pick me up and we talked for a bit then - I don’t know, she’s always just been Winnie. I knew about as much as everyone else.”
did you and ms. winnipeg sanders ever have a beef, or a quarrel? have there been moments where you wished - even if it were just in the heat of the moment - to inflict harm on her?
“No? She’s Winnie, man, of course I didn’t.”
what was your reaction when you heard about the news?
“It took me a while to process, I think. Like I knew the bakery’d been closed for a while, but I had to go back a couple times for it to properly sink in she wasn’t there.”
when was the last time you saw ms. winnipeg sanders? did you notice anything different about her?
“I went in to get some coffee and something to eat on the way home from work a few days before they closed. She seemed fine to me.”
do you know anyone who may have had any problems with her? do you know anyone who may have had it out for her?
“Nah, everyone loves her. You don’t seriously think someone from around here did it, do you?”
have you noticed anything peculiar since the disappearance? anything special you think it worth mentioning?
“Why do we have literally no other good coffee in town?”

task one: THE INTERROGATION
“miguel flores?”
‘for once in your life, they don’t think you’re guilty,’ he told himself, standing and going to follow the officer who had called his name, ‘so don’t fuck it up.’
is this the first time you’ve been called to the precinct? do you have a criminal record?
“I’ve been here a couple times, but not recently - but come on, everyone’s been called in once or twice, haven’t they? No, I... I got brought in for drinking when I was in highschool, and one time some guys accused me and my friend Tulio of fraud but it got sorted out pretty quick. That’s everything, yeah? I mean, you can check my record if you want, I might’ve forgotten something - God, that sounds bad, I’m sorry, no, I haven’t done like a countless amount of crime or something, I just have a really bad memory for this sort of thing. Promise.”
where were you during the evening of ms. winnipeg sanders’ disappearance? specifically between the hours of 8 and 11 pm?
“I was at my place with Chel - Chel Perez, have you spoken to her yet? We have this weekly thing, just us two.”
can you describe what you were doing immediately before that?
“Cleaning up, probably?”
can anyone confirm your whereabouts at this time?
“Chel can, and my neighbours - I’m not sure if Jack was in, but if he was he would’ve known if I was gone. I know it sounds rich if I’m saying I didn’t know where he was but he would know where I would be, but... you know what I mean.”
how well did you know ms. winnipeg sanders?
“I mean, I don’t know like, her life story or anything, but... she was always nice to me. I used to come by the bakery when I was a kid and she’d let me take a couple things for free, still do- did, and she didn’t mind me playing my guitar outside when I didn’t have anywhere else, and it was just... I know she would’ve done it for anyone, but it was sweet.”
did you and ms. winnipeg sanders ever have beef, or a quarrel? have there been moments where you wished – even if it were just in the heat of the moment – to inflict harm on her?
“What? No - no, of course not! Who would want to do that?”
what was your reaction when you heard about the news?
“I... I was shocked, really. I didn’t believe it, honestly, just thought it was a joke, or they’d gotten something mixed up and missed the message she’d gone out of town, or something, I don’t - things like that don’t happen here. They just don’t.”
when was the last time you saw ms. winnipeg sanders? did you notice anything different about her?
“The day before it... before... I went in to get some coffee, nothing seemed off? She seemed a little preoccupied, but things are always busy, especially in the morning. I wasn’t expecting her to roll out the red carpet or anything. It was just normal.”
do you know anyone who my have had any problems with her? do you know anyone who may have had it out for her?
“No. No one.”
have you noticed anything peculiar since the disappearance? anything special you think is worth mentioning?
“I don’t think so? I mean, people seem to be a little shaken, but we already know why that is, so... some people do seem fine, actually, is that weird?”

task;; 001 - chel
Tumblr media
Chel’s interrogation was recorded as follows:
is this the first time you’ve been called to the precinct ? do you have a criminal record? “It is not, though I hardly think coming in to give my statement on Julia’s case counts for anything.  I do have a record, but it’s mostly breaking curfew and some small trespassing charges from when I was seventeen. You guys never booked me though, so does it really exist?”
where were you during the evening of ms. winnipeg sanders’ disappearance ?specifically between the hours of 8 and 11 pm ? “I was with Miguel. We were hanging out at his apartment, a weekly thing ya know.Wait, you don’t actually think we could have anything to do with her disappearance do you? She was like a mother to everyone...I’ve known her since I was a kid.”
can you describe what you were doing immediately before that ?
“I went to the store then over to his house.. We don’t get to hang out one on one a lot because...well you know...other friends take priority. I walked there, so you’ve got a whole list of people who could have seen me, including the seedy desk attendant at the apartment complex who tries to play grabass everytime I walk in there.”
can anyone confirm your whereabouts at this time ? “The guy at the liquor store can confirm it’s a weekly thing for me, and obviously Miguel can, since I was at his apartment. You guys really like grilling me, eh? Should I have brought a steak or something?”
how well did you know ms. winnipeg sanders ? “Like I said, I’ve known her since I was a kid, she’s a town celebrity basically. I’m nowhere close to her like some people were but after the accident she was there for my family. She was a great person...”
did you and ms. winnipeg sanders ever have beef, or a quarrel ? have there been moments where you wished – even if it were just in the heat of the moment – to inflict harm on her ? “Once or twice we got into it, mostly about my dreams of leaving town and exploring the world. She thought this town was the best thing since sliced bread, but honestly I don’t think it’s that great. Maybe she finally listened to me and went off to see the rest of the world. Would have done her some good, she’s been stuck here for forever. I don’t know how she did it. Pfft. Not one second, I have a temper but it ain’t bad enough where I’d hurt someone who’s so sweet. Bigger assholes in the sea. ”
what was your reaction when you heard about the news ? “Devastated. I...she was one of Julia’s favorite people. She was one of everyone’s to be honest. You can’t just hear that news if you knew her and move on from it. I’ve stood outside that shop hoping to see her pop out and laugh that it’s just a joke. And honestly? I’m terrified. Things like this don’t happen in this town. “
when was the last time you saw ms. winnipeg sanders ? did you notice anything different about her? “A week or so before the shop closed, she made me a cake for my mama’s birthday. She seemed fine, maybe a little frazzled but she’s running a business that’s normal, right?”
do you know anyone who may have had any problems with her ? do you know anyone who may have had it out for her ? “If anyone had it out for her, they’ve got no reason. She’s one of the good ones, ya know? No one could hate someone that wonderful. It’s against the laws of the universe or something, right?
have you noticed anything peculiar since the disappearance ? anything special you think is worth mentioning ? “Other than the fact that everyone’s on edge and worried, nah. Even if I did, I ain’t no snitch. Whoever did this’ll get what’s coming to them, legally or not. Me and the boys out in Angel Falls don’t take kindly to our own being hurt or taken advantage of.”
