For all the people that say #WhitePrivilege isn’t a thing, explain this. One woman was given 5 years for lying about her address so her kid could go to a better public school while the other was just given 2 months for federal programs bribery in addition to charges of money laundering conspiracy, conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and honest services mail and wire fraud. Some people will speak to the crimes that #TanyaMcDowell committed before hand but let’s talk about exactly what they were both charged for. #LoriLoughlin committed a crime. They both did what they did because they wanted their children to be in better schools. One lied about a district while the other paid money illegally for their child to attend a school of higher education. Those crimes seem to be in the same vein yet one person got 5 years and the other got 2 months. Stop saying that #SystemicRacism isn’t real. People of color are always subjected to harsher penalties than white people.
