WILL WORK FOR MONEY
So my wierd situation wherein I am flat broke and semi-homeless is going to last longer than I'd previously thought.  And I’ve been sitting on this post thinking that it sounds “needy” or whatever.  But fuck it, I’m needy right now.
So here I go, with a list of skills I'd like to be paid for.  I’ll do a bullet point list, then you can check the “read more” if you want more detail.
Redbubble.  No consistent art style, lots of “oh this would look neat/make a cool tshirt” stuff, but also a lot of stuff I put a lot of work into.  Lots.
Scanning/digitizing.  Documents, slides, negatives, photographs...all the physical things that can be scanned. I can be your OCR.
Photo touch-ups/alterations. I can remove creases/stains, do some color correction or make it look like Elvis officiated your wedding.
Cat pictures.  I can send So many cat pictures, as long as you like black cats and/or fuzzy...tabbies?  Not sure what you call her, but she’s super cute.
- I have a redbubble.  I'm not consistent, in terms of an "art" style, so hey.  Give it a look. I've put a lot of hours into this stuff, and I haven't been great at putting it out there.  A couple that have been popular are the Festus Haggen collection and the Radium clock face - you can get that on a clock, which I love.  OH and lots of queer stuff, perfect for gift-giving or showing prominently when family visit.
Tumblr media
Digital photo editing - Making it look like you got married by an Elvis impersonator. - Making your teeth whiter, removing the big of squish at the armpit, that kind of thing.  This would be paid by the hour - $15/hr.
Tumblr media
- Touching touch up old/damaged photographs.  Creases, tears, stains. Can sharpen and fix the contrast as well.  I can even remove stuff from messy floors! This would be paid by the hour - $15/hr.
Tumblr media
Scanning/digitizing: - Scanning photos, slides and negatives, so you can have good-quality digital versions. The below picture is from a printed photograph.  Asking 65¢ each slide, $2 each standard negative strip, $1 each printed photo.  I can do touchups for extra.
Tumblr media
- Documents - I can scan them in, pdf them.  I can also retype them so you have a text file as well.  I can be your OCR. 25¢ page simple scanning, OCR/texitfying will be $5 each standard 8.5x11″ page.
- Cat pictures.  These are the cats.
Tumblr media
I’ve also been known to do audio transcribing, so if you’ve been recording your novel or plague memoirs on your phone, I can type it up for you.  I’m pretty good at formatting, as well.

Hensley & Char: Friends or Whatever || Part 5
@just-a-j-reallly @junknstu1f @wandmaximoff I am SO SORRY that this took this long and is still this short, but girls, y’all know i be hustling.A lot of corona dodging happening, since some folks got it around me and just other things as well. Hopefully, this one still matters tho. :)
The Secret Adventures of Hensley and Char
Charlotte stuffed her bookbag and rushed out of the door, mentally calculating the tightness of her schedule tonight. There was going to be an announcement this evening and since Hensley would have to go as Kid Danger, Charlotte was tasked with watching Piper after school. She didn’t mind. Piper was the closest she might come to ever having a little sister and since she was covering for a Man Cave related reason, she could submit a payment request to Ray for the babysitting hours. She deserved some compensation for taking on something else while she was trying to get her body ready to sign up for a marathon.
This evening would be the FIRST time that she had to cringe about Piper’s Kid Danger fangirling. “I’m basically GAY for Kid Danger!” the kid cheered.
“You don’t need to be saying that,” Charlotte offered. She wanted to expound, but she didn’t want to be obvious, but she couldn’t think of a single thing that she could add that might not make her seem homophobic or something. “You’re 8,” she finally settled on.
“I’m 9!” Piper corrected her.
“Also too young to focus on crushes. Crush those books,” Charlotte said, hating the fact that she sounded like her mother.
After she brought Piper back home and checked in with the Harts, allowing Jasper to tell them an indirect lie about where Henry was. (Charlotte had botched it up by telling him that Hensley’s goldfish had babies), and whenever Jasper asked them about it and they were confusedly discussing whether or not Hensley had a goldfish, Charlotte ducked out to head back to Junk N’ Stuff for an emergency.
She’d just text Jasper the lie that Hensley decided she wasn’t ready to be a goldfish granny and parted with all of them… Yeah! Lying was so much easier via text. The truth was that somehow, Captain Man was not indestructible, and as the brains of the operation, Ray had demanded that she come in PRONTO and get with Gooch on trying to figure out what was happening and what to do. “I’m literally a 13 year old girl,” she said to herself, after sending Jasper the text and reading through Ray’s meltdown in her texts. “What does he want me to do?”
She wondered this more and more as time went by. Technically, to be honest… She often was the one to figure things out and help save the day with her brains, but, still… And being the person to try to tell the lies to Jasper was a struggle too. Jasper was simple, but she knew that she wasn’t very good at lying. She had to always text him the lie. Sometimes, from right next to him. Luckily, the confusion of why she texted him while she was right next to him instead of just telling him was enough to throw him off of the weirdness of her and Hensley’s new secret lifestyle.
And THAT was a journey of adventure for Charlotte. She had been reading books since she was 3, and now, she got to live out everything from botched hero antics (Only her journal would ever know the story of what happened to poor Ortho), to unfortunately having to remain quiet while Jasper made an utter fool of himself over a girl, pretending to be Kid Danger… Why… Did that girl think that the OBVIOUS girl in KD’s costume could be Jasper? WHY??? It brought the conversation back up between the trio that “Maybe Kid Danger isn’t a she!” But… Hensley and Charlotte simply had to be mad that Jasper was very willingly being obtuse about her gender, because yikes… the conversation went way wrong and Hensley was looking a little transphobic before too long. Charlotte shut both of them down with a, “Hensley… Just because Kid Danger looks like a girl to you doesn’t necessarily mean that they have to BE one. YOU don’t know for sure whether they are or aren’t. Jasper, you know that whether or not they are a girl, YOU are not Kid Danger. You and her have been in the room at the same time on several occasions! We need not ever discuss the true identity of Kid Danger, EVER again, because I don’t like either of you right now!”
Weeks of patrols, dozens of missions, hundreds of memories. Charlotte and Hensley were both a little sad that they had to hide these things away from Jasper, but they were also having a good time and unintentionally bonding too…
Though, that changed a little bit whenever Chloe finally decided that she was ready to be comfortable with herself. That even if she didn’t necessarily like girls, she really liked Hensley and that should be enough to make the two of them matter… even though Charlotte was painfully aware that Chloe sort of “viewed Hensley as a boy.” She didn’t hate her. She just wasn’t someone that Charlotte could see Hensley being very happy with for a long time. She decided to just not think too deeply about it. Hensley’s bad habits of neglecting others would soon catch up to them.
When it did, Charlotte was entertained from the outside of it. Firstly, there was the slightly terrifying transformation that Hensley went through, turning into what Charlotte could only describe as a Cavebeast - Hens and Jasper had a small tiff in the midst of Hensley trying to get things good with Chloe, and at some point… Hensley turned into a boy!
He was… alright, Charlotte guessed. She wasn’t into him. He was only there for a moment, anyway, but one thing tapdanced on Charlotte’s psyche upon seeing him… She wasn’t sure if boys were her thing.
Since she had become friends with Hensley, there was always something about her that got beneath Charlotte’s skin in a number of ways. Charlotte thought it was because Hensley was carefree and careless - two things that she herself couldn’t afford to be and therefore often tried to police out of others. But, it made Hensley endearing to Charlotte. The smaller, smarter girl felt like she needed to guide and protect her… but, now that Hensley was a sidekick and Charlotte had seen her prove herself for months… she knew that she didn’t have to be this protective. She shouldn’t have to offer as much guidance and advice as Hensley still seemed to think she needed. But, it was nice to be needed, so Charlotte never stopped, even in those moments when Hensley was not open to her assistance.
People sometimes thought that there was a romantic connection between the two, to which both girls would laugh. Charlotte would tell them, “We’re just friends,” and Hensley would say, “Charlotte’s not gay.” Something that Hensley assumed. Charlotte had never confirmed nor denied it, but she would know, right? She’d know if she liked girls. She was old enough and smart enough, wasn’t she?
Apparently, those weren’t the indicators needed to determine this. Her indication was whenever she saw boy Hensley… He was lanky and tall and there was something like Hensley about him, but… she just didn’t like him, but she liked Hensley. And, it took losing her for a moment, the fear of thinking that they might lose her forever to the beast form, and the boy version of her for Charlotte to have a moment of clarity. She liked Hensley. The way that she was. She liked her that way, a lot.
Maybe it was simply the fear tricking her. She wouldn’t say anything. Besides, there was Chloe, and… it would be complicated anyway. Charlotte mentally shut that down and didn’t speak of it out loud. She couldn’t like Hensley, so she figured she was one of those people who must’ve swooned platonically over her friends. It didn’t extend to Jasper, but… he was weird, so she just accepted that was why. It wasn’t because like poor Piper, that she was “gay for” her friend. It wasn’t. She silently reminded herself of this at times whenever her heart was especially soft for Hens, and was thankful that she didn’t need to do so too often… Because Hensley could be a wreck sometimes. A clueless wreck.
But Hensley was her clueless wreck.
Whenever Charlotte took Piper to the movies and the little girl had the opportunity to work with Captain Man and Kid Danger, as well as become the new president of the Man Fans, Charlotte brought her home afterwards, turned her over to Hensley and said, “We’ve gotta talk.” Piper was still on Cloud 9 about her night, so she rushed to her room, talking on the phone about how amazing it was - a night that she in portion had Charlotte to thank for and wouldn’t soon forget it, Hensley looked at Charlotte.
“What’s up, Char?”
“Your sister. She has a super crush on Kid Danger,” Charlotte said.
“My sister is gay too?” Hensley asked, excited, but then winced and said, “Wait!”
“Yeah…” Charlotte said, “And also, I don’t know that she’s gay. She could simply respect Kid Danger so much that she sees her in a light that she sees no one else, and honestly, same.” Charlotte’s face warmed whenever she said that, but to try to backtrack might make it seem suspicious.
“So… You’re gay for Kid Danger, too?” Hensley teased.
“What? No! She’s just very admirable and… and…”
“I was obviously joking, Char,” Hensley laughed, and pulled her into a one armed hugged and kissed her forehead, “Thanks again for hanging out with Piper. She needs an older female person around sometimes.”
“You’re…” Charlotte started as she moved out of Hensley’s reach.
“Yeah, but I meant like, you know, a girl, girl. One that I don’t know, can rock a skirt and like likes boys or whatever.”
Why does everyone just presume that I like boys? EVEN my lesbian best friend, whbo snhould know better than to presume things about people’s identities…
“This is stupid,” Charlotte said, keeping the front thoughts to herself. “Night, Hens.”
.
Chloe went to star on Kids in the Woods, and honestly, Charlotte wouldn’t miss her, but Hensley was very sad to see her go. Which, Charlotte only understood to a certain degree, because… she never really had time for Chloe ANYWAYS, and now, she wouldn’t have to always try to make up reasons that she had to duck out or cancel. But seeing Hensley depressed was sad and over a girl? Of all the frivolous things. This was a girl who fought crime and faced villains, and what was she doing… being heartbroken over her girlfriend? Pathetic.
Charlotte let Jasper break into her thoughts and welcomed the interruption, because she was thinking TOO much about Hensley anyway. But, after only a few minutes of Jasper talking, she regretted letting him interrupt her thoughts. I have GOT to find other friends, she thought, frivolously. She definitely was not going to try to meet new people nor get close to the ones that she knew casually. She did wish that she could bounce some of her Hensley problems off of Jasper, though. But… too many of them would reflect upon Kid Danger, and… she sighed. That part of Hensley’s world was shut off to the rest of the world. In that way, they were connected.
That’s what it was. That was all it was. They were connected by this very important secret and ALL of Charlotte’s confusing feelings were related to that connection. “Thank you Charlotte. I knew that you would figure this out,” she told herself confidently.

Teresa (Baby) Jungman
She was the very last of the original ‘Bright Young People’, a clique of restless debutantes and well-born swells with time on their hands, whose high jinks and high spirits diverted themselves – and London - in the1920s.
She was also a heart-breaker and an early ardent but unrequited love of Evelyn Waugh’s. He captured the spirit and eccentricity of Teresa’s scene in his first novel Vile Bodies. Some Wavians have also identified aspects of Julia Flyte.
Teresa and her elder sister Zita were the daughters of Nico Jungman, a Dutch-born artist, and his wife Beatrice Mackey, the member of a respected Birmingham Catholic family.
In 1918 Beatrice married Richard Guinness. So began an energetic, innovative role as a London hostess.
After school Teresa came out, joining her mother’s social world and, with Zita, attracting her own set. Between parties, the sisters and their best friend, Eleanor, daughter of Lord Birkenhead, devised intricate practical jokes. Baby would borrow her mother’s Rolls Royce and mink coat pretending to be a young Russian émigré widow, Madame Anna Vorolsky, with jewels to sell so she could educate her ‘poor leetle boy’. She deceived the novelist Beverley Nichols and the Duke of Marlborough. She attended a garden party as Mme Vorolsky, leading two borzois, and on being introduced to a distinguished soldier and his wife; she told him she would never forget the night they spent together in Paris during the war. The general replied coldly that he had only spent one night in Paris during the war. “Zat”, said Baby, “was zee night.” Madame then disappeared.
The sisters would also take turns pretending to be a reporter, ‘Miss Babington Gooch’, interviewing celebrities at smart hotels and fooling most of them.
The trio also conceived the treasure hunt, an elaborate game which involved tearing about London in search of items that were dangerously hard to obtain, such as the spectacles of the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Between the parties and pranks the sisters would attend Mass and several days a week Teresa joined her friend, Maureen Guinness, in delivering meals to the needy around St Pancras.
Teresa (Baby) Jungman  died on 11 June 2010, aged 102.

my favorite parts of this series isnt even the plot or anything, its every time they showed george and harold being their sweet silly little selves.... playing dress up and bouncing comic ideas off each other......it does my cold adult heart good....if anybody makes a compilation vid of all those moments id die for you
that part where everyone is really sad in ep 4 is meant to be funny but when the boys talk about how meeting each other was the happiest moment of their lives and their voices crack so realistically that i had to pause it and gather myself, kudos to their voice actors for a lot of reasons but especially that
also all the sad stuff sad!Cap talked about? like how he started balding in his teens and never feeling truly loved? sound more like things Krupp would be sad about?? 🤔🤔🤔
speaking of Krupp during his Inside Out moment i fully expected Cap to walk in at some point, missed opportunity there
when i was small i wanted to see all the other teachers become supervillains like Ms. Ribble did and i finally got my wish!!! and not in a heartbreaking way like in Book 12
jerome horwitz finally has a janitor and hes more baller than i ever couldve imagined
Erica Wang is gonna grab life by the horns when she gets outta school and im gonna cheer her on all the way
Gooch and Bo are Very Good Boys and i will protect them with my life
Jessica and the two Sophies deserve a spinoff
my fave villain was the Smelly Socktopus! i love his voice and how he was animated
chupacabra vs bigfoot vs krupp’s shark is the Death Battle we deserve
melvin is a little Piss Boi here like i love him but wow
krupp’s Actual Hair honestly looks great??
BABY BENNY!!!! B A B Y B E N N Y
DARK DREAMWORKS FINALLY SHOWED US THE FORBIDDEN KRUPP BACKSTORY AND I DONT EVEN CARE THAT ITS MOSTLY PLAYED FOR LAUGHS IM SO HA PPY
i really like how he grew up on a farm thats so cute?? i cant believe hes actually clark kent
“In A Robot-Wedgie-Free World” was actually beautiful

Nailers Face Crucial Weekend
The Wheeling Nailers host the Maine Mariners for the only meeting of the season tonight at WesBanco Arena. Face-off is slated for 7:05 p.m. The Nailers are currently 10th in the Western Conference standings, two places behind the Tulsa Oilers who currently own the eighth and final playoff spot. Wheeling has 53 points heading into tonight while Tulsa has 59 and the Indy Fuel nestled in between with 57.  The Good news? Wheeling has a prime opportunity to make up some ground in the playoff hunt. The Oilers will hook up with the Rapid City Rush for three straight games starting tonight? Why is that a good thing? In five previous head-to-head meetings this season, Rapid City owns a 4-1 record against Tulsa, outscoring the Oilers 17-14 during that span. Tulsa’s one win came at its own Bok Center. This weekend’s three games are all at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, where Rapid City is 3-0 vs. Tulsa this season. That’s the good news. The bad news is Wheeling is facing a three-game slate against some of the better teams in the ECHL.  First are the Mariners, owners the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference with 65 points. Maine is 5-4-1-0 in its last 10 games and is led by Alex Kile. Kile has 48 points this season, including 16 goals and is a plus-9. Netminder Connor Lacouvee is 19-2-1 with a 2.67 goals against average and a save percentage of .919. The following night the Cincinnati Cyclones come to Wheeling. The Cyclones are third in the West with 74 points but are on a two-game losing streak.  The Nailers are 4-3 against the Cyclones this season, including 2-1 at WesBanco.  The Nailers are 2-5, however, vs. the Toledo Walleye and haven’t beaten Toledo since a 3-0 shutout at home back on December 20. Sunday, the Nailers travel to Toledo to take on the Walleye. Toledo is fifth in the West with 69 points, has won three in a row and is 7-2-1-0 in its last 10. The Nailers are 2-5, however, vs. the Toledo Walleye and haven’t beaten Toledo since a 3-0 shutout at home back on December 20.
Patriots in Excellent Shape After Day One
Wheeling Park trails favorite Parkersburg South by half a point in the Class AAA team standings at the W.V.S.S.A.C. Wrestling Championships after Day 1 action in Huntington. Cabell-Midland, Parkersburg and Riverside round out the top five. The Ohio County Patriots pushed 11 of 12 wrestlers through to the second round and are positioned to battle South for the team championship. Of those 11 wrestlers, six are either freshmen or sophomores as Park has only two seniors that won in the first round. A more telling stat is that two freshmen, Adam Angel at 170 and Erick Brothers Jr. at 182 were advanced in one of the heavier weight classes, far from the norm. Angel won via technical fall with a 17-2 score and Brothers pinned his opponent in 2:35. John Marshall had three wrestlers secure Day 1 victories and Brooke had one. The local teams didn’t fair quite as well in Class AA/A.  Oak Glen has five wrestlers advancing to the next round in the championship bracket, with Weir, Cameron, Magnolia and Weir each advancing one.  Point Pleasant is leading the pack with 52 points, followed by Braxton County, Fairmont Sr., Independence and Herbert Hoover. Oak Glen is the highest ranked local team in eighth place with 15 points. I mean, do they even make this many white people?
[ GOOCH ] Male: 20-30 (Caucasian) Gooch—dark hair, well groomed, but uncomfortable in a suit—has been in offices and trade-show halls, away from the beach, for too long. A surfer turned natural corporate salesman in a mid-twenties life crises, seeks council from an old friend—going to the past to define his future. Must be able to surf.
[ JASMINE ] Female: 19-30 (Caucasian) Jasmine is ethereal—thin, pretty, and pale. She has a wry sense of humor and is addicted to funerals and white food. Since her family died in a tragic accident, she has been unable to move on, but after meeting Gooch, learns there is more to life than death. Jasmine astutely guides Gooch on his journey to find his friend
[ MOJO ] Male: 25-35 (All Ethnicities) Mojo is the leader of the surf crew. A charismatic, solid presence, he loves surfing, loves life, and respects the natural order of things. A modern-day shaman, his beliefs and spirituality help his friends understand and celebrate the death of their friend.
[ LARRY ] Male: 25 - 36 (Caucasian) Larry—an athlete with a natural ease, and wisdom beyond his years—is Gooch’s best friend from childhood. Larry lives a simple life, and believes that what you love doing is where you are meant to be.
[ MOOK ] Male: 20-30 (Caucasian) Mook, sandy and waterlogged, he is emblematic of the quirky and funny surf crew. He is always focused on the waves, but is self- possessed and smarter than he appears. Mook is the catalyst that pushes our hero to search for the truth of Larry’s death. Must be able to surf.
[ MR. MILTON ] Male: 50-60’s (All Entnicities) Gooch’s boss—a bulldog of a man, yet warm-hearted and obliviously enthusiastic—Mr. Milton loves the business world and, like a proud father, sends Gooch off to his new job at corporate headquarters.
[ MISS DAISY ] Female: 50 - 60 (Caucasian, Mediterranean, Hispanic — Brooklyn accent) A medium/fortune teller—sarcastic, shrewd, and sharp-witted, Miss Daisy attempts to connect Gooch with his lost friend in the afterworld. Her gravelly demeanor belies the fact that she is a true psychic.
[ MORTICIAN ] Male: 60-70 (All Enthicities) The Mortician’s stern and angry presence (in this “under-five” role), chafes against the magical world of the surf crew.

Bernard Dunne: Champion of the World by Bernard Dunne (Ages 10+)

‘‘According to the Oxford Dictionary, boxing is ‘the sport or practice of fighting with the fists, especially with padded gloves in a roped square ring.
What this doesn’t mention is the focus that boxing demands, the mental strength needed to push yourself to the limits. Being hit in the face isn’t something that you grow to enjoy, but it’s certainly something you grow to accept. It’s funny, but it’s something that I actually miss about my sport. It makes you feel alive.’’
This is the story of the Irishman who became king of the ring, and retired with a record of 28 wins from 30 professional fights. It charts his rise to the top of his profession, from his six year old novice days, to becoming world champion at the age of 29.
In Champion of the World, Dunne explains the appeal of boxing. He talks about his strong family connections to the sport and how it was almost “inevitable” that he would take to the ring. After all, he recalls how, at the age of just six, he told the great Barry McGuigan that he would one day become world champion!
Like all sporting greats, Dunne had to overcome a number of setbacks along his journey to the top. He had a cyst on his brain. He missed out on the Olympics. He got knocked out by Kiko Martinez in a bout which last less than 90 seconds.
That infamous defeat proved to be “a blessing in disguise” for Dunne, as he reveals here.
Champion of the World is one for aspiring boxers, or sports enthusiasts searching for a tale of inspiration.

A Beacon of Joy
Meg possessed infectious exuberance, which touched people throughout her life. (photo courtesy of Gaye and David Reynolds-Gooch)
Meg’s Story
by her parents, Gaye and David Reynolds-Gooch
Soon after hearing Meg had an advanced stage of neuroendocrine carcinoma, Meg surprised us by commenting, “It could be so much worse.” As a nurse on the medical unit at Seattle Children’s Hospital, she was accustomed to working with kids with very serious chronic conditions.
Very early on we learned the power of connection and strength that comes from extended family and friends uniting to offer support and grounding amidst an incredible health challenge. Cards and calls, gift certificates for Whole Foods, delivered dinners, gifts and pictures to make Meg laugh, pampering, volunteers to drive Meg to appointments, friends to house us while having appointments in other cities were among the many ways people showed their love and connectedness.
#TeamMeg socks, designed by a friend, became a tangible symbol of support; they caught on at the Sunday Fun Day party Meg’s best friend created in Meg’s honor. Over 150 family and friends bought tickets to the event that raised money to defer costs and provide fun money for Meg so she could live boldly at a time when she couldn’t keep up her full-time work hours during 15 months of chemotherapy.
In the summer of 2014, Team Meg held a fundraiser, where the socks made their debut. (photo courtesy of Gaye and David Reynolds-Gooch)
Even Seahawks’ quarterback, Russell Wilson, who dedicates his day off to bring cheer to patients at Seattle Children’s, met Nurse Meg one day on his rounds and rocked her socks on his social media posts.
Team Meg socks were also fitting as Meg, a long-distance runner, had trained for the Crater Lake marathon before her diagnosis was made. Not wanting cancer to get in the way, she ran a mile for every round of chemo over the first 15 months of having cancer and continued distance running until the last two months of her life. An inspiration to all, friends pulled on their socks to run alongside Meg. Meg’s joy while running encouraged others to run and run farther; most of us had trouble keeping her pace. Meg literally ran through her cancer tests, treatments, procedures with strength, courage, determination—and endorphins! Running kept Meg grounded, calm and strong, joyful and humorous. Meg and sister Kate always took a long run while waiting for results of her most recent scan. Meg’s last long run was in her home state of Minnesota after completing one round of aggressive chemo as the slow growing cancer became fast growing. When that didn’t stop the growth, she completed one round of Immunotherapy. Meg was racing the clock needing more time than her body gave her to see if it would be effective.
Meg’s caregivers: sister Kate, partner Ryan and best friend Tammy, show off the #TeamMeg socks (photo courtesy of Gaye and David Reynolds-Gooch)
Meg landed in the hospital for five days and during that time and afterwards, her sister, boyfriend, and best friend provided around-the-clock care keeping Meg’s spirits up and attending to her every need. Each took three months’ leave from their respective work to be by Meg’s side. The hospice nurse claimed she had never seen such a devoted group of family and friend caregivers.
Having been diagnosed with what Meg’s Neuroendocrine Oncologist called a most complex case, Meg quickly learned how to research, interview, and select the best oncologists and other specialists to help her manage her disease and be a full-partner in navigating evolving treatment options such as PRRT, which Meg had in July – December 2016 in Basel, Switzerland. The Annual NET Research Foundation conferences at UCSF and Stanford, as well as this website, helped Meg research treatment options, find specialists, and stay on the cutting edge for support and new knowledge. It was Meg that asked us to request that memorials go to the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation.
Wanting to be remembered as a Beacon of Joy, Meg acknowledged that she knew we would be sad and need to grieve, but that joy would come flooding back.  While we still cry and grieve at normal and odd moments, we find it impossible to tell a Meg story without a smile and laughter. While she must have had moments of fear, sadness—she lived her life after cancer diagnosis as she had since birth: with cheeky humor, exuberance, adventure, and joy. She thanked us the day before she died: “You have given me a wonderful life.” We could only respond: “You have made our life wonderful; we love you.”
Meg was called a baby whisperer for her ability to soothe newborns as a nurse at a children’s hospital. Here she is pictured with the babies of her high school friends. (photo courtesy of Gaye and David Reynolds-Gooch)
A month after Meg died, her nursing director invited the family to visit Seattle Children’s, walk the floors where she had worked, snuggled babies (she was known as the “baby whisperer”). What a gift it was to hear stories about how she interacted with patients, families, other medical staff.  Meg was a knowledgeable, focused and kind care-giver; her supervisor told us she gave the most challenging situations to Meg for her ability to calm patients and parents and diffuse stress among the medical staff in critical situations. Meg gave helpful, straightforward advice; her laugh was infectious.

Living on Puget Sound we find that our grief ebbs and flows like the tide around us. Waves continue to knock us over sometimes multiple times each day.  They say all the firsts are tough and indeed they are, but we can’t imagine never not missing Meg. At Meg’s Celebration of Life this last September, we experienced again the amazing power of connection with family and friends from all walks of our lives intimately woven together by the profound loss.  Even those who did not know her, were inspired by the stories of Meg’s positive, generous spirit, her sense of humor and ability to squeeze so much life into her 31+years. Nurse Meg took care of us all and is forever in our hearts—forever running alongside encouraging us to dream bigger and live strong—and find and inspire laughter and joy each day.
