I'm done rewatching 6x07 😊

This episode starts off calm, and stays calm, though I'd say it gets sadder after the first clip. First, Kieutou spend time together, and Fatou and the audience learn more about Kieu My; nothing upsetting happens here. In the next clip with the Cash Queens, though, Mailin presses on in her inappropriate comments about racism, Fatou's news about her relationship are awkwardly received, and Ava is clearly going through something but doesn't feel listened to. Later, Fatou struggles to solve for a customer's change and Karin is condescending about her handling the cash register. She's stuck correcting the inventory while Maike floods the Jallows' bathroom, and lists some troubles to Ismail, with whom she has a rather emotional conversation. Kieu My shares her concerns about their friend groups' reactions to their relationship, and doesn't feel heard either, which the viewers will later learn is a new conflict. Fatou receives and discards her report card, which her mother said earlier would be succeeded by a conversation about her future, Nora and Mailin's comments make Kieu My uncomfortable, and the ep ends with a call from Ava to Fatou, with both upset that Fatou forgot about their date.

Long story short, things are kinda sad up in here! Though not really intense. With the note on which the episode ends, it kind of feels like "H*ll week" is next: the storylines are built up to a point where it's as if one other event can make each significantly worse, and for Fatou's friendship with Ava, this just happened, probably kicking off a series of worsenings in different plotlines. Having scrolled through the next ep, yep, it mostly just gets worse!

When I saw this shot, I thought, "oh, yeah, favourite clip, I forgot!," because I had thought about what clips would come up and missed this one, but figured it would be my favourite 😅

To be honest, I have a bit of a figurative soft spot for Ismail, which, to also be clear, doesn't mean that I have any intention of minimizing the hurt they've caused Ava and the other Cash Queens. I like the storage room clip for what we rarely see outside of Ismail-Fatou interactions (I pretty much always find those interesting): Fatou being direct about her problems and her disapproval of someone’s behaviour, and Ismail being sincere and apologetic. I might name it my favourite clip with Ismail; I think I wrote earlier that it's the longest we've seen them not putting up a front (here’s that post, which also mentions a nice detail I forgot about!), they reveal that they're unhappy in their friendship with Constantin, and they're kinder to Fatou than we've ever really seen them with anyone 😊 By the way, I love how Eren acts the last part of the conversation: Ismail looks away to the side and seems to gather courage,

then nervously gets Fatou's attention,

and seems realistically uncomfortable. At the end, they turn their torso back and forth a bit, like they're trying to stay casual 😁

Anyway, this clip is neat, and I guess it’s my favourite, but I also like the first two, with cute Kieutou content and more about Kieu My, followed by multiple interesting parts of the Cash Queens' conversation. In all three of them, though, as with the SKAM remakes in general, I think I'm missing something, which I'll write a separate post about sometime: I wish all these conversations were longer! 😅
