Dewa anon again, I'm back to my origins, If Canon won't give my poor baby a backstory I will. It starts with neglectful parents(as usual, for some reason everything about him screams parentified child) and like a bunch of of siblings, except instead of maturing and trying to raise their children they just get worse with time. Long story short, the siblings+Dewa go non contact(except for the youngest who thinks their siblings are being way too dramatic and that they should forgive the :parents")with them but they keep showing up to ask for money and favors, specially to Dewa since he's the oldest and they expect him to parent not only his siblings but also themselves since they refuse to take responsibility for literally anything.

I think Dewa gives off parentified child vibes because we always see him as the one taking care of problem child Chitose, he just has this vibe of a guy who somehow always ends up taking care of everyone else whether he wants to or not. Imagine him with neglectful parents who keep having kids but don’t really spend time with them, I could see them maybe being kinda like Kusanagi’s family where they’re away for business all the time (except in this case I imagine the business being kinda shady, or like maybe they’re the type who keep getting roped into get rich quick schemes so they’re gone for half a year claiming they’ll be back as millionaires and then they show up with nothing all oops maybe next time and Dewa can only sigh). As the oldest Dewa quickly becomes the responsible one, the one who’s always having to get his younger siblings out of trouble and making sure they stay fed and clothed. Eventually maybe his parents do finally ‘grow up’ but it’s only for their youngest child, who actually does get some parental attention, and that’s why the youngest doesn’t get why the rest of the group go no contact as soon as possible. Dewa himself moves out with Chitose once he realizes that his parents have finally tried to come back and ‘play family,’ in part because he’s so exhausted by them already but also imagine this has instilled in him something of a need to always have someone to watch out for. His parents don’t really need him now that they’re trying to be adults but Chitose needs someone to be sure he doesn’t get himself killed by an angry drunk lady at some point, so Dewa goes with Chitose. 

Of course even after he leaves his family Dewa’s parents will constantly try to ask him for things, especially if any other siblings are still at home. I could see Dewa having issues with giving in because some of the siblings he mostly raised are still living with the parents but also putting his foot down about coming home, claiming he has his own work and such and therefore no time to be babysitter. Once it’s down to just the youngest he pulls back though, I could see Chitose having to convince him that the youngest sibling isn’t his responsibility and he’s done enough, it’s time to cut the cord. Imagine Dewa smiling a little bitterly too, Chitose is supposed to be the troublemaker and Dewa the responsible one but here Chitose is the one giving him advice. Having all of Homra behind him helps too I imagine, like maybe he sends his parents money one last time for his youngest sibling and then goes totally no contact. The first time his parents try to go to Bar Homra to look for him is also the last, and when Dewa thanks Mikoto for it Mikoto just shrugs and says it’s no problem.

Sorry about writing a novel. I don’t hate you anon, it’s just I don’t quite agree with your opinions.

There’s a big difference between spending IRL money to get rich(er), versus abusing a site mechanic to get rich(er). Especially if the only reason a player may have access to said site mechanic is by exploiting a bug.

You keep saying hate like the reason why people are advocating for the removal of money-printing customs is that they hate rich people. You say there is always going to be inequality so people should just accept the current system.

These two statements are wrong. People do not hate rich users. There are rich-catered site mechanics that people are ok with, and mechanics that should be overthrown. 

For example, people accept paid monthlies and retired KS, because these are fair, they are funded by rlc which supports the site. People accept turnip-only account upgrades, because the money that goes into it supports the site. By supporting the site, the admin can use the money to hire artists or pay coders, therefore making a better experience for players.

The gacha-based turnip machine was not accepted by dv players. And to add on, there are pushes at the government level against gacha-based rlc transactions. Why? Because it actively harms players, despite however much the site earns from it.

Do you see the pattern here? rlc/p2w mechanics are fine as long they balance out the benefit gained by the site and players.

Why do people not accept customs as a rich-catered mechanic?

First of all it funnels money into a few player’s pockets, giving them an advantage over other players in getting more custom creators. Can you think of any other mechanic, even outside of dv, that allows a potentially unlimited stream of money from other players to a single player? Especially without any additional money or time needed? The only one I can think of is item-duplication, which is a bannable exploit in any other game. But on dv of course, it’s a core feature.

Second is the opportunity cost of releasing 6 customs per month, when the site could have instead released 6 public items or pets. This is a big deal considering the many content droughts normal users face, while custom owners get steady a steady stream of updates.

You might argue that mirror sales benefit the site. The answer to this is that the site could simply sell the pets and items at a flat turnip price. This would actually increase turnip sales, since the quantity of pets/items copied would not be limited by the owner of the custom.

You might also argue that community events and content benefit players. There are good events generated thanks to customs, but this also forces all players to be at the mercy of another player’s goodwill in order to get a site asset. This could be the only positive benefit that the player base /could/ get from the current custom system.

With the reasons listed above, I hope you’re able to see why players are crying for change.

Little Women: Meg’s Story (1950)

Little Women 1950 was produced for Studio One in a two episode format with the first episode covering Part I titled "Meg's Story" and the second episode covering Part II (sometimes known as Good Wives) titled Jo's Story. Each episode is about an hour long. 

 When I saw that the first episode was subtitled "Meg's Story," I assumed that would mean that the series was choosing to focus more on the romances than the family elements and would therefore being adding more content to Meg and John's romance. At least for this first episode, that assumption appears to be correct. I don't actually mind an adaptation taking that approach. I happen to like John and Meg a lot as a couple, and I think that it's a perfectly valid technique to use when picking what to include and not include in your story since, at 55 minutes each, the adaptation could hardly be expected to include everything. I don't particularly think it works here, though, as John Brooke is very much Classic Hollywood Male Romantic Lead. He's very smooth and doesn't really feel like John Brooke. Ultimately, I think that it subtracts rather than adds, which is disappointing. 

 I would also like to take a moment to discuss some of the other characters. Beth is barely present, but she's mostly fine. Jo, however, is very strangely characterized. She seems to be a mix between the tomboy book Jo we all know and some other characteristics that seem to be designed to make Jo appeal more to a mainstream 1950s audience. Jo shows excitement about Meg having a crush on John and even urges Meg to take her chance in order to win the guy she likes. This is a far cry from book Jo who is initially upset at the prospect of her sister getting married and moving away. She also gets excited about wearing her best silk right before scorching her dress.

But the most disappointing for me was Amy. Amy usually fares the worst in adaptations because she's often pitted against Jo, who is typically the chosen heroine in Little Women adaptations. Usually any villainization of Amy comes through the way her book burning scene is filmed, but this version doesn't even have that scene. That doesn't mean it didn't seek out to villainize Amy, though! In this version, Amy outright states that she hates being poor, but she has a plan to combat poverty. Aunt March has all that lovely money and no one to spend it on, so Amy is going to make Aunt March like her in order to get that sweet, sweet inheritance. When Beth gets sick and Amy has to be sent to live with Aunt March so she doesn't get scarlet fever, Amy immediately cries, "Oh good!" 

 In discussing this with a friend, we talked about some of the reasons Amy is often villainized. I think in a lot of more recent adaptations, Amy often gets the villain treatment because she's unapologetically feminine. She isn't Not Like Other Girls like Jo is. But in this particular adaptation from the conservative 1950s, we can see that this issue can just as easily be with Amy being the wrong kind of feminine. Amy is ambitious. She isn't sweet and nurturing like Meg is. Her performance of femininity isn't completely nonthreatening. We should be accepting of Meg and Beth and Jo, but we should also be accepting of Amy. Little Women doesn't say that there's one right way to be a girl, so why do so many of its adaptations?

Evidently, she’s paid attention to, and read many things i’ve commented on, on twitter….part of me wants to believe there’s some mutual respect or something there, but tbh, that’s silly n stupid af!

I couldn’t believe it, she held onto the collar part, and swung, hitting me with the leather handle of the leash, while also getting hit by part of the chain….she screamed n berated me sooo loudly, by this point, i could faintly hear ppl laughing and talking from the shadows…..I tried looking around a little, even glancing at her friend who was sure to keep her distance but was watching the show intently….then, Goddess adjusted her grip, holding onto the collar and leash handle….leaving only the metal chain to beat me with…..she swung n swung, hitting my back, sides…everywhere….Think then, she asked me something a few times, making me look up at her, and when i did, I took painful shots to back of my head, but also the chain wrapped around my head, whipping my face and neck.

I still remember feeling the chain land on the side of my head perfectly as it wrapped around my face causing extreme pain.

I was somewhat in a state of shock….I’ve never in my life been beaten up…once many years ago, I was punched in side of my head hard enough to throw my body to the ground….That’s literally IT!

This was by far by far the most/worst beating I’ve ever received in my entire life.

When you travel to a new country it’s extremely easy to feel lost and overwhelmed in the new surroundings, this is why it's always a good idea to choose to go on pre-made tours, as they will take you on a safe and educational trip, showing you everything you wanted to see, without the hassle of finding your own way there.  

I have made a route as if I was a tour guide showing tourists around Reykjavik, which can be seen below. I've split each destination into 5 categories; Accommodation (Black), Main visitor attractions (Green), Travel (Yellow), Cultural and creative attractions/ Photo Opportunities (Pink), and Food (Purple).  

Main Visitor Attractions  

The first destination is the hallgrimskirkja. This is the starting point of the tour as it's such a central attraction in Reykjavik, luring in both curious tourists, and interested locals. The Cathedral looms over the city and is visible from almost everywhere in Reykjavik, therefore, it’s a perfect location to commence the tour. It will also help promote the cultural and historical aspect of Iceland, as it’s a place of worship, and give tourist's a glimpse into the Icelandic identity.   

Another attraction on the tour is The Blue Lagoon, which is undoubtably one of Iceland’s most notable tourist destinations. The Lagoon, which is located further out of the city of Reykjavik, is heavily marketed towards tourists, and is the reason for a lot of the international travel into Iceland. Its unique hot spring environment gives the lagoon a naturalistic feel, which most people generally associate with the country, and by visiting the Blue Lagoon, tourists have the chance to feel fully immersed in the natural and raw beauty that Iceland has to offer. You wouldn’t be able to have this experience in most parts of the world, so visiting the Blue Lagoon is an exciting and rare opportunity.
