Hogwarts legacy MC bio/headcanons

Avian Grey was born to a Welsh witch in the Pyrenees, France (close to Beauxbatons) she does not have any memory of her parents. She was raised by her mothers sister and research partner “Aunt Efa”.

While researching magical creatures in the Pyrenees, Avians mother had an affair with a man from one of the local villages, all Efa knew about him was that he was from a family that had strong Veela lineage. Avians mother passed away not long after giving birth to her.

Ave and Efa had a very nomadic lifestyle traveling from place to place for purpose of Efa’s research. She gained a lot of experience fighting due to run ins with poachers and other undesirables during their travels. Perhaps it was due to her fate as a wielder of ancient magic that the constant traveling caused her to be late in her admission to Hogwarts, and enter as a fifth year.

Her patronus/potential animagus: A hippogriff. Powerful and dignified, once you earn her trust she will protect you fiercely. If you cross her she will fight you.

Coincidentally her name is French for “bird like”.

I like to think the hippogriffs appearing in her storyline are immensely symbolic having to do with those she trusts. For example during her first trip to Hogsmeade with Sebastian two hippogriffs flew out of the forest, perhaps foreshadowing her relationship with him. Especially as they shared their first kiss after she took him to ride highwing (see fanfic for full story). Additionally the creatures have shown up in situations that involve Natty and Poppy.

Her interests:

-flying and magical beasts, love kneazles and has an entire vivarium just for kneazles. Despite her princess like appearance she likes to play as a beater during quidditch, after all she loves a good fight.

-She gets a high off of fighting. During 7th year her and Sebastian spends alot of their “dates” raiding poacher camps, not only because she wants to save beasts and loves fighting but they both find it insanely attractive watching each other fight (hence why their first duel in Hecat’s class is when they started to like one another) their kink is raiding different poacher camps and then doing it in the empty tent afterwards

Her strengths:

Excellent duelist

Highly ambitious and competitive (can also be a flaw if it gets out of hand)

Fiercly protective of those she loves.

Her flaws:

-Slight temper

-Jealous and sometimes manipulative but she’s better at hiding it than Sebastian. If she sees Sebastian talking to another girl she’ll use subtle tactics to get his attention might take her hair tie out for a second to adjust her hair, he doesn’t get to see fully undone often (until they become official) so it gets his attention, she also might loosen her tie and unbutton the first button of her shirt exposing more of her neck. If she’s feeling extra ambitious she’ll go talk to another student who isn’t Ominis, Poppy or Natty and be mildly flirtatious in asking them for help with something.

-Not always the most trusting..better with beasts than people. However she adores Poppy, Natty and Ominis.

-Easily distracted by anything having to do with Sebastian. Will drop important tasks to spend time with him.

After Hogwarts:

After Hogwarts Her and Seb elope in a quiet ceremony with only their close friends present. They start off as aurors but after Ave nearly gets killed while pregnant with their third child they calm down with the fighting obsession and settle for a more quiet lifestyle. They end up taking over Brood and Peck when Ellie decides to relocate and spend a majority of their lives taking care of magical beasts. They eventually wind up having a total of four daughters and three sons, out of which is a pair of twins (boy and girl like Sebastian and Anne). Because they lost so many of their family members when they were younger, a large family is important to them. Their family goes on to be a very well respected wizarding family throughout the decades. Newt Scarmander visits their shop regularly and they’re really fond of him, usually selling him beast-care tools at a high discount. They also see Poppy regularly as she is the care of magical creatures professor at Hogwarts.

In a Year: Summer Pt. 1- Harr

A little set up to the first part of this mini series! There will be 4 Seasons consisting of 4 chapters each (so 16 chapters total + a final ending chapter) and this will take place over the course of the next year!

This series features Harr, Sirius, Lancelot, and my oc Pippa during the 1 year of high school that they were all together and friends!

One year from now, the four of us will have shared countless memories together, overcome great battles, loved and lost one another. Much like the seasons, our friendship was fleeting. You might think that I’m the center of this story, but no, I’m simply one revolving piece brought into the folds by the one who stood as the cornerstone.

Summer is meant to be filled with adventures and relaxation. And it was. The four of us were constantly trying to liven up our break from school through various escapades into unknown territory and late-night crusades.

This season solidified our friendship in the soft sand, and the tide of the future could hardly reach us. I might even say that we were at our happiest.

Tight. Itchy. Uncomfortable.

All those thoughts passed through his mind, fingers dug into the stiff collar of the snow-white dress shirt, pulled up against his neck with a red tie. The small corner of the garden secluded from the rest of the lively party had become his safe haven. Stars twinkled up in the navy night sky, surrounding a bright full moon. Harr huffed, sitting cross legged on the soft grassy patch hidden in the center of a circle of rosebushes.

Tinkling giggles brought his gaze upward. Bright violet eyes sparkled in amusement, the girl who’d coaxed him along to this socialite party had a smile tugging at her pink lips. Her silver hair draping over her shoulder as she bent slightly sideways to catch his attention. Slender fingers tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear. “Found you, Harr!” Her nose crinkled as delight passed over her features.

“It’s stuffy,” Harr retorted, continuing to claw at his collar. His family hadn’t come from as much wealth as the other party goers. That wasn’t to say that they were poor, simply not bathing in money. “Weren’t you going to dance with that man that had been ogling you for an hour?”

Pippa bent down to one knee, reaching both dainty hands to assist him. The soft grass tickled her bare knee. “Oh, yes, I did. For three long songs. Can you believe he forgot the steps to the waltz? And he stepped on my toes twice!” Her sweet voice dripped with laughter. With practiced movements, she loosened the tie and straightened it swiftly. Running her two fingertips down the length, faintly feeling his chest under the materials, Pippa winked. “Better?”

His black hair tousled in the wind as he tilted his head in all directions, testing it out. Still irritating but he could breathe easier now. “Yes, thanks.”

Her mouth opened, just slightly, like the words had come unbidden to her lips but stopped before they could be spoken. Pippa smoothed her hands over the soft wine-red skirt, decorated with gold buttons lining the front and dainty black lace poking out from under the hem. “Why are you hiding? Do you not like the party?” Worry creased across her forehead.

“I don’t feel like I belong here,” Harr admitted, unable to tear his gaze away from her. Without much thought, he’d hooked his fingers under her suspender that had slid down her arm. Velvety to the touch. His knuckles brushing against her shoulder over the soft white material of her button down top adorned with a frilly lace collar.

Her bubbly laughter tinkled with the stars above. Pippa leaned in, black lashes fluttering like butterfly wings. “Of course not. This party is for the adults to show off. None of us kids actually want to be here. I come for the delicious desserts,” she started, hands clasping together as if she were about to pray, “Desserts that I’m not allowed on any other nights.”

He’d listened to her complain about her strict diet. Her mother meticulously planning each meal for her. The two having been friends since their first year in middle school, Harr had witnessed her stare longingly at the pastry shop in town each time they passed.

“Mother is always so worried about my figure.”

There’s nothing for her to be worried about.

“She found out that I snuck a midnight snack last week and went absolutely hysterical on me.”

Harr could hear her, sure, but the words didn’t reach him. Instead, he found himself mesmerized by the way her lips parted and her tongue swept across them at the mention of sweets. Her figure looked perfect, at least, to him it did. Slender frame, dainty enough to mistake her as a doll if she could sit perfectly still. Hair as silver as the light of the moon and shimmering violet eyes that could put any lilac flower to shame.

Her warm hands holding one of his. She sat up on her knees, a smile blooming across her lips. “I’m having so much more fun with you here, Harr.”

He blinked, heat burning all the way up to his ears, thankful for the cover of the night to hide the redness. He’d agreed only to make her happy. She’d pouted for the entire day that he’d declined her offer, moping around until he caved.

A soft gasp escaped her lips and she ducked down. “Someone always does this!” She whispered with excitement.

“Does what?” Harr asked, receiving a shush from her.

The two peered through the rose bush, making out two figures just a few feet away. A lovely girl in a saffron colored dress held the hand of the boy Harr recognized as the Kingsley boy, Lancelot. Pippa spoke of him often. They lived in neighboring houses, both having prestigious family lineage that held positions in the Chosen 13.

“A love confession. Lancelot gets at least one at every party. They’re very entertaining. Let’s watch,” she murmured, eyes alight with amusement.

Like he had a choice. Her small hand fit perfectly in his, fingers laced together, like it was the most natural thing in the world. The spectacle happening before them lasted mere seconds. The girl hardly got her first sentence out before Lancelot had turned her down. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she fled back toward the party, leaving the future King of Hearts running his hand through his hair.

Lancelot turned on his heel, striding toward the exit.

Pippa whined softly, lips pursed out in a pout. “He could have at least let her finish. It’s quite entertaining to hear what they have to offer him.” Climbing to her feet, she tugged on his arm, hand still clasped in his. “Come on. Let’s get out of here.”

Harr allowed the small girl to help him up. “And go where? Home?”

“No, silly! We’re going after Lance! He’s up to something. It’s rare for him to leave a party so early.” A wicked grin on her face, she marched off with Harr in tow. They took the spiral staircase leading down to the main floor, where her warmth left his.

Harr walked at a slow pace, curiously watching her rise up on her tiptoes to sneak up on the other boy. Pippa latched onto Lancelot’s arm, making him stop walking to gaze down at her. “Where are you off to, hmm?” she asked with accusation laced in the words.

“I don’t see how it’s any of your business, Pippa,” Lancelot answered, glancing between her and Harr.

The younger boy had finally caught up, silently awaiting what would happen next. He could simply return home, but he doubted that she would allow that so easily.

“It’s my business because we’re coming along!” She patted his arm, smile never wavering.

“I think not.”

Pippa stuck her tongue out at him, whirling around to take two steps back toward the staircase. “I guess I’ll just inform your father that you’ve bailed on the party so early in the night- whoa!” She stumbled back, Lancelot gripping her upper arm to haul her to him.

He flicked her forehead, sighing heavily. “Alright, you win. But don’t cry because you’re scared of where I’m going.”

“Ouchie.” Her whine fake, as she exuded elation for her victory.

Lancelot’s icy eyes fell on Harr. “Who’s the kid?”

“Oh, this Harr Silver. He’s my friend from school,” Pippa said, turning to Harr. “Harr, this is Lancelot Kingsley.” Her wink meant to hush him from revealing that she talked about him constantly.

Harr scratched his cheek awkwardly, giving an empty greeting and receiving the same.

The three set out into the night, Harr trailing just behind the other two. Central Quarter had been abandoned at this hour. No one would notice their absence until it was much too late to locate them. Harr stuffed his hands in his pocket, keeping out of the lively conversation that Pippa was having with Lancelot.

Part of him wanted to sneak off into the alley and head home. It nearly felt as though he were intruding on a date, the third wheel of the group. Yet, each time she turned to check on him with those endearing violet eyes, she reeled him in further, keeping an invisible hold on him, making him continue to follow despite all the hesitation bubbling up on the surface.

Soon they had reached the edge of town. The Forbidden Forest loomed ahead. Harr’s grey eyes scanned upward, flowing the large trunks up to the bushy tops. What could the future King of Hearts possibly need to go in there for? He’d never been himself, rumors swirling of monsters lurking within its depths.

“I’m not scared!” Pippa half yelled, marching off away from Lancelot, intent on entering the forest. Her body betrayed her, rigid and stiff in movements, hands clasped in fists by her sides.

Harr fought the smile that tugged at his lips. Her determination to go despite her fear was admirable. The invisible string tethering the two together tugged him along. One glance back, checking to make sure he still followed, brought the light back her features. “You shouldn’t run ahead. You’ll get lost,” Harr called, forgetting all about their other companion.

Pippa halted mid-step, a nervous laughter taking over. “Right. We’ll follow you, Lance.” Finding her way back to being in the middle of the two, she poked Lancelot on the back. “But not because I’m scared.”

“Yes, yes. I hear you,” Lancelot answered, leading the way.

The trees swallowed them up, engulfing them in almost complete darkness. The moon fought to peer down on the path, swept back and forth by the wind rustling the leaves. In moments where the light bathed Pippa in its silver glow, he paused at the way she had her hands clasped together in front of her, eyes darting around them.

His hand moved on its own, finding hers even in the dark. Her gaze stayed forward, afraid to lose sight of the one who knew the path in and out, but her tight squeeze of his hand showed all the appreciation. Deeper in they went, until the trees cleared, encircling a large lake. “Is this the Lake of Tears?” Harr asked without thinking, to no one in particular, as the answer was clear.

“Yes, it is,” A new voice answered, from directly behind him.

Pippa shrieked, pulling away from Harr and stumbling over a rock, falling down onto the soft forest floor with a thud.

Lancelot snickered, receiving a wicked glare from the girl. “I thought you weren’t afraid.”

“Anyone would be afraid of a stranger sneaking up on them,” the boy said, sinking to one knee beside her. “Are you hurt?” He took her hand, bringing it up to examine the small scrape marring her palm. Her tear-filled eyes rose to meet his gaze. “I apologize for frightening you, little lady.”

“I’m alright,” She answered, but allowed him to wrap her hand with his handkerchief that he’d pulled from his pocket. Once again on her feet, Pippa brushed her skirt off.

Lancelot gave brief introductions to the two of them. “And, this is Sirius Oswald, a friend from school.”

Harr had forgone any pleasantries, instead moving over the waters edge. Magic radiated from the magic crystals that were growing up from the ground. There were rumors that this place existed, but few wanted to brave the forest to find it. He’d crouched, running his fingertips over the water, ripples showing the path.

Added weight fell on his back, Pippa leaning her arms across the top of his shoulders. “Wow! It’s a beautiful lake, don’t you think? Just like the stories my grandmother used to tell.” Her silver hair draped over, tickling his neck.

“Stories like what?” Harr asked, bracing himself when she rose onto her tiptoes and leaned over him trying to reach the water. “Pippa, wait.” He hadn’t expected the sudden shift in weight. Both toppled forward, straight into the shallow water at the edge.

Harr could hear her laughing even with his face submerged under the water. Gasping for breath when he could finally sit up, his grey eyes turned to her. “What are you laughing at? We’re soaking wet and it’s cold-” The rest of his protest caught in his throat.

Pippa had been spared being submerged because she’d fallen on top of him, but her torso had been soaked. The damp white button down clung to her skin, leaving nothing to the imagination. She hadn’t bothered to wear a bra. Her confused expression changing to utter embarrassment in seconds. Hugging her arms over her breasts, her cheeks flushed red all the way up to the tips of her ears. “Don’t stare!”

Mouth still agape, Harr dropped his gaze to his lap, water droplets falling from his hair. The others came to check on them, laughing as they did. Neither were hurt, and their clothes would eventually dry. It would become a memory that they looked back on fondly.

“Here, you can wear my jacket,” Lancelot said, offering it to Pippa.

Once she had the top two buttons together to cover herself, she nudged him with her foot. “Hey, Harr. I’m sorry I got you wet.”

He didn’t care about that. Her apology struck him hard enough to take the air out of him. “It’s not a big deal, as long as you’re okay.” He should have been able to keep his balance, so he took full responsibility.

Her violet eyes rose to stare up at the moon shining down upon them. “My grandmother used to say that if you visited the Lake of Tears on Christmas Day, any wish you make will be granted.” Her voice reverent and hopeful. A smile touched her lips and her eyes slid closed. “We should all come back here on Christmas together, yeah?”

All three boys chimed in with agreement, solidifying their friendship to hold up until Christmas. Harr only wished to see the world through her eyes. She tried to see the best in every situation, never backed down from a challenge. She dragged him along with her, allowing him to experience things he would otherwise have missed. Harr prayed that things would never change between them, asking the very moon above to shine on them forever.

If Harr had known back then what would become of us, I wonder if he would have stayed with us. Our promise to make it back to the Lake of Tears on Christmas Day became the glue holding us together. We spent as much time in each other’s presence as possible, finding hideouts to indulge ourselves in things we couldn’t otherwise enjoy at our own leisure.

That first night, tipped the hourglass over, counting down our time together without any warning.

But we could hardly see the end in the beginning of summer.

Puppy Bowl 2020: Ranking the very good doggos of the starting lineups

They’re all very good pups.

Sunday afternoon, millions of viewers will gather around their televisions to catch the most competitive, thrilling and utterly adorable sporting event of the year.

Yes, utterly adorable.

I, of course, am talking about the Puppy Bowl, which will air Feb. 2 at 3 p.m. ET on Animal Planet.

Thirty-nine very, very good doggos will take the field as part of either Team Ruff or Team Fluff, in a battle to take home the Lombarky Trophy. To get you fully prepared for the action, I took on the immensely difficult task of ranking the puppies and pulled a couple competitors out to highlight.

Age: 17 weeks

Thoughts: You can feel how soft Ana is by looking at this picture. That spotted coat and sweet face is almost too much to bear.
