I am so unuse to you having a new banner on your tumblr it’s so weird ahhhhhh!
It did! I mean it was just metaphorical sex so I don’t really think you could have messed up there since it’s straight forward, but it was cute and fun to read when I initially saw it, XD
Man I was rewatching the episode where Jaune and cinder fight and just getting sad, because I wish they had more interactions to maybe fuel whatever form of shipping we can but instead I’m sadddd because there’s little and people don’t notice the amount of it that there is Rip, more Knightfall CRWBY!
Good afternoon!
In order:
1. I felt like prettying my blog up but I can't change my icon because tits-out Yoshitaka Amano woman with beast hovering over her potentially even fucking her based on where it cuts off in the icon is so 'me' it's sort of embarrassing.
2. (This is about that horrible post re: me talking about metaphorical sex in my fic). Well, I mean, get it wrong sort of in the sense that it might be... overwrought or offensive. But I love metaphor and she reforged his sword. :(
Knightfall discussion here:
3. The reason the ship intensely interests me is because as independent characters they're my favourite, so watching all of their scenes is very enjoyable for me. When they do come together I also like their confrontation. Thematically and symbolically, Jaune being the first person to ever challenge Cinder's worldview is... very significant. It's about quality for me, not quantity.
The point I'd like to emphasise is how unconventional their romance is/could be.
Narrative is a type of language, and one needs to have some sort of arsenal for understanding how and why a story does things. RWBY has a very calculated and individual manner in which it does so, particularly with its mixing and matching of world stories, and its own internal fairy tales which drive the story. I think that V1-3 try to tease us with a traditional fighting school structure for a reason to then teach us what it's really doing. You know this, but not quite. Then the narrative language becomes quite clear, and it's easier to predict what it's doing. Pyrrha had death flags all over her, ESPECIALLY in retrospect.
Consider the pair as they stand now in canon:
Byronic heroine, villainess protagonist
Male healer/Paladin (I'm thinking of Crysania here)
who both start out as archetypically accesssible sexy femme fatale and unlearned shounen-esque protagonist. Eventually, it's clear Cinder wears a persona, and Jaune is a Paladin-type healer, who learns, eventually, to be gentle instead of vengeful. The solution is not killing Cinder. Cinder never kills Jaune. Both of them are directly subverted character types that fit in the story and are easy and clear to read once you know where and how to look.
It is made additionally more complicated because popular reception is that Jaune really loved (romantically, not just as a teammate/friend) Pyrrha, and that was true love to end all true loves, that or Weiss is his love interest. Or Ruby.
(It does amuse me that RWBY's first brush with True Love's Kiss was not really True Love, and preceded Pyrrha's death, not her awakening).
On the front of enemies to lovers, almost always the case is that the villain is male, and the heroine is, well, female. If there are different genders involved, then I would say the one of the least likely is a villainess and hero. Let alone with her as a type of villainess protagonist. So that makes it much harder to read for that reason.
Also, I think the romance will be one of the latest realised in the show, as I expanded upon in a previous post. They did have their true structural meeting in V5, the same as RG, and BB's reunion, which is necessary set-up with the other romances. But it's a lategame thing. Touch wood. It excites me, honestly, because V8 is my favourite volume so far. I'd love to see how they execute the romance with even better animation than before.
