It's been a while since I had continued watching tmnt 1987, which is why I'm questioning, Why the hell is Shredder eager to confront Splinter?

Like, unlike 2012!Shredder, I get, because the man is obsessed on vengeance and thinking SPlinter is the cause of his life being the way it is. But 1987!Shredder? Why does he go for Splinter?

The turtles is maybe getting satisfaction and pay back the humiliation he experienced from them, but Splinter? What does he want from him being dead?
