Random things that I experienced during the the making of the TSI blog:
My followers are... A LITTLE too much into men😀 mostly of the time I see the Anons simping for Zeck, Nipper or Michael. Mostly of them make obvious that is a joke so I don't get uncomfortable.
My blog pratically became a rarepair blog whenever a new male character is showed to the public. As far I can remember, the first one was Nipper x Gerald??
The ships are really funny tbh. Until now I haven't saw any pro shop (thanks god🙏) and until now it has a good amount of ships (Zeck and Nipper are in half of them
That's it I guess?
You attracted all the boy kissers... 🤢
Hopefully no one does anything weird with TSI I know how freaky the TDI fandom already is

Mon. 9.12.22 (SVC)
Announcements & Reminders “Checkup” At this point, you should have registered online with Norton and completed
Chapter 1 Tutorial
InQuizitive (1): How to Use InQuizitive
InQuizitive (2): Rhetorical Situations
Chapter 2 Tutorial
Chapter 3 Tutorial
At this point, you should have read in TSIS:
Chapter 1 (“‘THEY SAY’: Starting with What Others Are Saying”)
Chapter 2 (“HER POINT IS: The Art of Summarizing”)
Chapter 3 (“AS HE HIMSELF PUTS IT: The Art of Quoting”)
Chapter 21, all eight essays:
STEPHANIE OWEN AND ISABEL SAWHILL, “Should Everyone Go to College?” (488).
CHARLES MURRAY, “Are Too Many People Going to College?” (506).
LIZ ADDISON, “Two Years Are Better Than Four” (527).
ANNA CLARK, “Why We Need to Keep the “Community” in Community Colleges” (531).
GABRIELA MORO, “Minority Student Clubs: Segregation or Integration?” (538).
GERALD GRAFF, “Hidden Intellectualism” (548).
SYLVIA MATHEWS BURWELL,” Generation Stress: The Mental  Health Crisis on Campus” (556).
CHARLES FAIN LEHMAN, “The Student Loan Trap: When Debt  Delays Life” (567).
TSIS, Chapter 3 (“AS HE HIMSELF PUTS IT: The Art of Quoting”)
When you quote someone else, you give yourself credibility, a “proof of evidence” (47).
But you can’t just drop a quotation in there and leave it alone; quotes don’t speak for themselves (48).
Quoting someone else is a lot like what Chapter 2 says about summary. On the one hand, you resay what someone else has already said. On the other hand, you take the opportunity to frame your own argument: “...what ‘they say’ must always be connected with what you say” (48). There should be “back-and-forth” between them (49).
Use quotations “purposefully” (53); don;’t just throw them in there because of a requirement!
The “quotation sandwich” (51) or the 3 “I”s: introduce, insert, interpret (illustration below). Explanatory framing + quotation + “how you interpret the quotation” (54)
Introducing & explaining quotations templates (51-2, screenshots below).

Activity
4 quotations to discuss:
“Thus, even though minority student clubs can lead to self-segregation among students and result in less cross-cultural interaction, their benefits to minority students suggest that a balance needs to be found between providing support for minorities and avoiding segregation of these groups from the rest of the student body” (Moro 545).
“I was practicing being an intellectual before I knew that was what I wanted to be” (Graff 551).
“Finally, students, parents, and universities should embrace the healthy idea that stress is a part of what makes college great” (Burwell 565).
“The explosion of student debt, with its concurrent effects on debtors’ lives, means that many who go to college struggle along on the path to full, independent American life” (Lehman 575).
Homework
Complete worksheet (also posted on Schoology).

English 101 Week 1 Blog
The article Hidden intellectualism is based off of being street smarts or school smarts. The writer Gerald Graff is trying to make this connection to persuade readers that there is more than just being school smarts. He speaks about how “colleges might be at fault for missing the opportunity to tap into such street smart and channel them into good academic work” (TSIS 369). Having Gerald speak about this is showing that Schools systems can should be searching for a way to reach and connect with theses student in their learning.
These students who are street smart would end up getting better with their academics if they have something to connect to. Graff showed us this by making a connection to himself growing up as kid. “The only reading I cared to do or could do was sports magazines, on which I became hooked” (TSIS 370). Graff connection with reading sports magazines helped him to grow as a reader himself improving his literacy instead of the readings from what he did in school. These students need a connection as well like sports magazines to help them become better Intelligent. Graff tone that he used for this article helped to better understand where he wants to go and how he feels about the schools not addressing these students in their academics. He is trying to persuade colleges and schools by giving example of “hoods” and “clean cut” boys. He says that “Maintain the boundary between clean cut boy like me and working class hoods as we called them which meant that it was good to be openly smart in a bookish sort of way’(TSIS 371).Guff uses clean cut boys for the ones who are book smart and the hoods for the students who are street smart.
Gerald Graff uses of words like intellectual, academic, and street smarts is being a big key part in what he’s trying to get across. He uses Intellectual to address those students and trying to make a connection with their intelligence and identity as a student.” Intellectual Identities if we encouraged them to do so at first on subjects that interest them rather than ones that interest us”(TSIS 370). Graff address the Intellectuals trying to find ways to encourage them with their interest.  Using street smart he is trying to make the connection to those who are not necessarily doing so well with their academic but could try to find another way to help pick up the learning.
Reading Hidden Intellectualism has helped give me a better understanding of rhetorical situations and how to be thinking rhetorically. With the usage of the context of the article Hidden Intellectualism and the tone of voice that Graff uses helped me to understand his meaning and who he wanted to persuade throughout the passages. In class we I also learned more better understanding of this articles genre and tone being that the article is very persuasive and he was using such a sympathetic way of writing when he would use himself as an example.
