i have so many hallmark movies to catch up on this year! and now that my novella is out, i might be able to start watching them again - i might also be watching some with friends, so any suggestions for 2024 hallmark movies? (i'm also going to suggest TWH to them because i need to start it and they'll keep me accountable lmao.) ALSO i am so excited about lacey and kristoffer to be in a movie together but OMG height differences again.
How exciting! The movies are always better watched with friends!
I would say you definitely need to watch these: Betty’s Bad Luck in Love, all of the Austen Loveuary movies (except Love and Jane), Legend of the Lost Locket, and Falling in Love in Niagara. Others were enjoyable so it depends which actors you're interested in watching.
The Way Home is a must. Season 2 was such a trip.
The Christmas Quest sounds so fun! It's kind of crazy that they hadn't been in a movie together yet. I'm sure it'll be a highlight of the Christmas movie season.

I’ve spent most of my weekend watching Hallmark’s The Way Home, omg I’m officially hooked and cannot wait until season 2. Filling some of the void from Good Witch though of course I still want another GW movie. Although TWH is more like the Hallmark version of Outlander, from what I’ve seen of that show.

Re: gif pack suggestions: you'd be my hero if you did Thaddea Graham in Sex Education (Netflix, s4), Melanie Scrofano is Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (Paramount+) or literally any character from The Way Home (Hallmark)
hi! i did some gifs of sadie laflamme-snow from twh here and i don't think i'll come back to this project (i didn't like colouring it) but the rest of the suggestion's saved, ty!

ok i’m losing my mind over tonight’s ep of the way home like omggggggg and there’s a few things i need to get out my head so
colton knows about the pond!!! like i figured he must’ve known about it in some way because it explains how he figured out that adult kat was actually his daughter and why he never questioned her and alice being soaking wet every time they see each other. but like i never would’ve guessed that he’s not from modern times. also how much more does he know about??
i’m so glad that jacob came back and i can’t wait for the scenes with him together with alice and del. i do hope that this’ll lead to del finally knowing about the pond. also like will he stay permanently?
i’m so emotional over that moment between kat and del 😭 kat needed her mom and del wanting so badly to see kat be a mom like end me please! 😭😭😭
i’m so glad that elliot apologized to kat. it was bothering me so bad that he hadn’t and yet was still pining for her.
fuck victor (that’s all)
i’m not ready for this love triangle that forming with kat, elliot, and thomas. also like with this happening will elliot still wait for kat?? honestly kat should be with susanna
what is casey hiding??? are they in contact with someone who is time traveling or are they themself time traveling or maybe both??
all in all this is such a good show imo especially for the hallmark channel. also im gonna need a timeline of everything because i feel like this will get confusing fast. i cant wait for s3 tho and hallmark is evil for making me wait a year ughhhh

questionabletaste85: Maybe I shouldn't compare the movies to the series, but The Way Home was so good compared to what Hallmark usually offers. The movies are a letdown in comparison. I saw that The Way Home was developed for Netflix and that probably makes a difference. The few movies I've enjoyed this year have been on HM&M. I haven't bothered to watch many of the recent movies on the main channel and it doesn't sound like I'm missing anything special.
I think it's fair to compare them. The shows seem to be advertised as like the new vision for Hallmark. They're "authentic" originals. The storytelling is elevated in both shows. The Way Home certainly felt like it didn't belong on Hallmark but it made me excited because I assumed what was to come with the movies would at least try to come close, you know? Apparently I shouldn't have assumed that. Even if TWH was originally intended for Netflix, Lisa brought it with her and made it Hallmark. The new leadership is fully in charge of all the content now. Where is that vision with the movies? They're the top of the food chain. They can afford to set the highest standards for the scripts. I would be happier with less movies if it meant they were focused on the quality of them. Right now it feels like quantity is winning over quality and that's really frustrating when there was all this talk about how things were going to be different. HM&M has definitely had better movies lately but not as many people watch them.
tiffy2006: Representation is lacking. Seems like Hallmark Channel is set in their ways. It's like they do just enough to say they have showed it but not enough to make a difference to the viewers who would like to be included. I have also been disappointed so far. It's like they put so much focus into Christmas movies that the others just get thrown together and lack a lot. The Way Home has definitely been my favorite thing on Hallmark this year.
It's like last Christmas when they had 1 gay movie and called it good. Only 5 out of 40 movies had LGBT representation. 12 Christmas movies in 2021 had representation. It's ridiculous. I do think the quality of the Christmas movies for 2022 was really good comparatively but they're still missing the mark. We need to see better representation of so many things. Where's the body diversity? Where's the characters with disabilities? It's really not that hard to add in things that would ultimately be really meaningful to the viewers.
