Even if they’d only met in PASSING , given the first multiverse MELTDOWN that had caused them to be sucked into MJ’s world, Annie still hadn’t FORGOTTEN the other’s face . Whereas some might have been OVERWHELMED at the idea of meeting another version of someone so important in their life , to Annie, it was another EXCITING idea come to fruition . Bounding over to Mary Jane, Annie instantly wrapped her arms around her as best she could in a big hug .

+ It all happened so QUICKLY . One minute, it had been just another day out enjoying time with her FRIEND . Something so un-out of the ordinary that she’d almost FORGOTTEN that she hadn’t ever been normal . Sipping away at her Slurpee , entirely ABSORBED in the conversation between herself and Cleo , she suddenly STOPPED mid-sentence, eyes WIDENING as images flashed in front of her eyes . Chaos , fire , explosions, all of them running at her at a MILLION MILES AN HOUR . And then as quickly as they appeared, the vision VANISHED from her eyes, leaving her at the table looking like a DEER IN THE HEADLIGHTS .

" Ok, so look here, see this VENT ? " She started, gesturing towards it before grabbing a pencil and sketching a few LINES across the room . " These beams are there, and they go across the room . Too many TIMES had she heard her name used in conjunction with the reference to SMOOTH CRIMINAL . If there were ever a JOKE in her lifetime that had gotten entirely STALE , it would be that one, without a shred of doubt in her mind . Struggling back onto her feet, she shook her head, trying to get her BEARINGS back .

+ Annie HATED that she was scared over this . Maybe in HINDSIGHT, which was always 20/20 , watching the HORROR movie hadn't been the smartest move on her part. But with the THINGS she'd seen out in the world as SPIDERLING ? She'd thought that something FICTIONAL would never be able to get the better of her . What MONSTER would want to try and pick a fight with someone who had SPIDER-POWERS ? ...that also WASN'T somehow a supervillain .

And yet, here she was, CURLED up in the corner of her bed, Spider-Man PLUSHIE held tightly to her all the while. " Dad , PLEASE check. Just tell me I'm going NUTS . "

"I'm probably gonna regret this but... happy birthday, squirt." She hands Annie a bag full for assorted candy. Tootsie rolls, jolly ranchers, you name it, it's in there. She also gives her little sister-in-law a kiss on the top of her head.

+ Now THIS was a recipe for DISASTER on a scale the likes of which had never been seen before . The entire Parker family KNEW what could and usually DID happen when a sugar rush gripped hold of SPIDERLING . To know she was basically being given an entire bag full of sugary GOODNESS ? Annie wasn't going to let this GOLDEN opportunity go to waste .

" Oh my God, thank you! Thankyouthankyou! " Rushing forward, grabbing the bag in one hand and wrapping her other around Andi's waist, Annie was ALREADY showing that the excitement of the day had her wound up. It was only going to ESCALATE from here .

+ " Everything is NOT fine , May , and you KNOW it . " The May in front of her isn't HER Mayday, and it's something that never fails to make her chest ACHE a bit . She'd imagined what it was like having a SISTER growing up so many times ; someone to talk to that would actually TALK back, rather than just being a good listener like SPEEDY . And even if the one in front of her ISN'T from her world , it's hard not to feel like she STILL is a sister .

+ " That means a LOT coming from you, Dad. " God, she felt EXHAUSTED . Going up against ELECTRO had taken EVERYTHING she'd had in her, even beyond the abilities of her own Spider-abilities. At this rate, she wanted to crawl onto the COUCH and sleep for a year . But having those PROUD words in her ear made every bit of it seem just a bit more WORTH it .
