Steve Rogers Oneshot

Summary: If it’s green, it’s healthy. Nobody tell Steve otherwise.
Word count: ~2k (oops my hand slipped)
A/N: This was supposed to be a very short drabble based on a conversation I had with @kentuckybarnes​ last night...and then I don’t know this happened. Anyways! This is a little gift for @nacho-bucky​ , who deserves all the extra whip; the story features her character Agent 41, as well as a brief appearance by @kentuckybarnes​ Agent 28! A “reader” character may or may not make an appearance ;) Enjoy!

He hasn’t said so out loud - not yet - but Steve is really proud of her. She’s been doing really great this time around. Really, really great. 
After last year’s health kick ended (sometime around the holidays, even the heroes stop caring), everyone’s diets slid back to a state of normal that was…somewhat shy of their (read: Steve’s) original goals. Sugary cereals and waffles dripping in syrup and butter; everyone having their own pint of Ben & Jerry’s in the freezer; Sam and 41 insisting on an extensive comparison of all available delivery pizza, often side-by-side taste tests that led to multiple pizzas devoured each night. 
Steve gave them a warning this time, 4 weeks in advance. It would be hard to jump right in and change their habits on January 1, since they’d be up late partying the night before, and then of course there were the holiday leftovers, etc etc. So he’d give them some time to mentally prepare.
“Mark your calendars, guys,” he warned, eyebrows arched, Captain Six-Pack posed in the community kitchen. “We’re cleaning up this kitchen - starting February 1st.” 
A month of healthy eating - but he picked the shortest month, so he was going easy on them, right? 
Like before, he had worried a little about their agent with the biggest sweet tooth. Poor thing, 41 had nearly had a breakdown last time, and Steve thought she might hate him forever. It was probably a close call. But she made it through the first time around, and February is only 28 days anyway. Well, 29 this year. 
She took it like a champ. Met his announcement with quirked brows and an amused glance in Clint’s direction, but no more wailing and gnashing of teeth than the rest of the team. Bucky had watched them over his steaming mug of coffee, secret smile around his mouth. 
“You know,” 28 piped up from across the island. “It might be a good idea to cut back on caffeine, too. It is an addictive substance.”
Bucky’s eyes had twitched, big knuckles flexing as his hand tightened on the mug.
“Come back with a warrant,” he grumbled. 41 giggled behind her hand and patted his shoulder. Steve just rolled his eyes.
Fast forward a few weeks, just over halfway through this little challenge, and he has to admit that she’s really leaned into the healthy lifestyle. More so than last time; in fact, she’s the one in the kitchen, night after night, iPad poised with a healthy recipe from Pinterest. Everything she’s made has been damn good - he always goes back for seconds. And she’s the first to volunteer to go for grocery runs for the team, dashing off to Whole Foods and the farmer’s market, a triumphant return with a beaming smile and arms full of lush, colorful produce. 
Feeling accomplished, and not a little proud of his leadership skills, Steve decides they’ve earned a little treat. Just a little one. 
Modern coffee and Steve Rogers have struck a deal - he’ll pipe down about price margins and inflation, as long as they continue to deliver strong, kick-you-in-the-teeth flavor. He loves a mean cup of joe, bitingly bitter, with only the occasional splash of milk to soften the harsh taste in his mouth. Coffee was scarce during the war, desperate rationing pared down the drink to little more than brown water, drunk from a helmet while he crouched down next to Buck in a foxhole. He’ll dig a little further in his wallet for something stronger than that. 
He’s familiar with the Starbucks down the block from the tower, having stopped in several times after runs with Bucky and Sam; they haven’t been in a while - a part of his health initiative includes less eating out and more making their own food and drinks. But it’s just coffee. And coffee has plenty of health benefits - he was just reading an article this morning about studies on the preventative effects of caffeine in dementia patients. Not that his brain cells are likely to be affected, but still.
Coffee it is.
41’s eyes light up when they walk in the door, a chorus of “Hello!” and “Welcome to Starbucks!” greeting them from behind the bar. She can smell the syrup in the air, blenders whirring double chocolatey chip frappuccinos with extra mocha drizzle and - what did the menu say? A…caramel ribbon crunch? Yum.
Steve Rogers is a purist in terms of coffee. The concept of frappuccinos and white chocolate mochas makes him want to roll his eyes a little. But he doesn’t make the rules - and hey, the people who invented this are raking in profits, so it looks like they’ve got the right idea. 
Clint’s got his arms around 41 from behind, his chin propped on top of the beanie he knitted her, both of them swaying a little as they glance over the menu. Steve knows Clint is a coffee-addict, too - he’ll probably order straight espresso. 41 loves her lattes, the sweet-flavored ones of course, but she’s done so well cutting out sugar. He trusts her. She’ll be fine. 
It’s just the three of them, with a list of coffee orders to bring back for the team. The cafe doesn’t seem too busy, so he doesn’t feel like an asshole when he shuffles up to the register, pulling up the list on his phone. 
“Be with you in just a second, okay?” 
His head pops up and he notices her standing there, smiling over her shoulder as she preps a new batch of coffee to brew. He nods, a little smile - “sure” - and slides one hand in his pocket while she finishes. She’s efficient and fast, measuring the grounds into the basket, sliding the urn into place and pressing the right button. He notices the way her hair swings, twisted up into a big butterfly clip at the back of her head, the ends falling like a ponytail, longer strands hanging next to her face. 
And then she’s twisting back around and popping up at the register, a nose-scrunching smile and a “What can I get started for you today?”
Blink.
“Um, I’ve got a list-” He fumbles for his phone again. “Sorry, it’s quite a few drinks.”
“Sure, that’s fine,” she nods. Smile still curling up her cheeks - he can’t quite tell if she’s wearing makeup or if that glow is just natural. 
“O-okay,” he clears his throat, swipes at the notes app on his phone. “So first, a tall dry cappuccino with an extra shot-”
He gets through Sam, Bucky, Nat, Wanda, and 28’s orders, before sliding his phone back in his pocket, puffing a harsh breath past his lips. 
“What else can I get for ya?” The barista leans a hip against the counter, tilting her head, smiling eyes still watching him. There’s just something about that look - like she’s in on a joke and he’s still waiting for the punchline. 
“For me…uh,” he shrugs, falling back on a standby. “An Americano, with a little bit of milk and cinnamon, please.” 
That makes her smile deepen, and he would really love to be let in on the joke, but she just nods and repeats the drink, tapping the buttons on her screen. 
“Okay - anything else?” 
“Oh, and whatever they’re having.” 
Over his shoulder, he nods Clint and 41 forward, their hands linked as they slide up to the register. With a smile and a quick greeting, Clint goes for a triple shot, double cupped, one Stevia. Pretty standard - whenever he’s not sharing sweets with his sweetheart, Clint tends towards strong flavors. For Christmas, 41 bought him a bag of something called Death Wish coffee - he brewed it all within a week. 
When it’s her turn, 41 grins at the girl behind the counter, standard sweet and friendly. She leans close to the register and tilts her eyebrow as she orders. 
“I’ll have a spinach milkshake,” she hums. “Venti, please. Oh! With extra whip.” 
Spinach milkshake, huh? Steve’s ears prick up, a little bubble of pride floating up in his chest. He knew if she just gave it her best shot, she’d get used to it. 
The barista grins back at her, and Steve does not at all notice the dimple in her cheek. 
“You got it, girl,” she winks. 
Steve pays, leaving a generous tip in the jar by the register, as the girl flits away from the computer to help prep their drinks herself. She smiles and chats with 41 over the espresso machines, her hands wicked fast between steaming milk and pulling espresso, lining up the finished drinks in the little cardboard tray at the end of the bar. Under her apron, she’s wearing a pair of baggy overalls and for a moment a memory sweeps up in him - factory girls and borrowed boots and rolled up sleeves. A victory smile, that’s for sure. Standing next to Clint at the counter, he pretends not to watch. 
She’s got the trays loaded up, all except one, and turns around to the counter behind her, pouring cold milk and some kind of green powder into a blender. Must be 41’s drink - she’s busied herself at the counter writing everyone’s names on the tops of their cups, adorned with little hearts. Characteristically cute. 
The blender whirs loudly, and as she reaches for a cup and lid the barista meets his eyes over the machines. It startles him, that guilty thump in his ribs, like he was caught doing something he shouldn’t. Her smile stays glued in place as she turns back to the blender, fetching the pitcher and neatly filling the cup with the creamy, green drink, before dropping the pitcher in the sink to rinse. She flips the metal canister in her hand, shaking it a few times, before swirling up a veritable mountain of whipped cream on top. 
Steve sighs one of his long-suffering sighs, his eyes flitting up to the ceiling before he catches the look of excitement on 41’s face, already peeling the wrapper from a straw as the pretty barista snaps the plastic lid over the cup. Well…what can some whipped cream really hurt? At least it’s a healthy drink…she called it a ‘spinach milkshake’ and he has no idea what the ingredients would be in that, but the bright green color has him sold on some marginal health benefits. She’s earned a little dollop of cream. 
“Here you go, babe,” the barista grins as she hands over the drink to an eager 41, who immediately scoops her finger under the dome lid and pops a little whipped cream into her mouth. 
“Mmmm,” she smiles, dreamy. “You did great.”
“Oh, thanks,” the girl laughs back, now wiping down her counters with a rag, cleaning up any of her milk and coffee spills. 
“Seriously,” 41 insists, between slurps through her straw. “You’re, like, my new favorite person.” 
“Hey, now,” Clint hip-checks her as he reaches around to grab the drink carriers. He offers the barista a smile. “Thanks, kid, it looks great.” 
“Oh, it’s no problem,” she insists, sliding away her steaming pitchers and milk jugs. 
They’re turning to leave, all drinks accounted for, and the girl gives Steve one last smile as she turns to restock the cups next to the espresso machines. He sips his Americano - good, bold, perfect combination of milk and cinnamon. 
“Steve?” 41 is slurping at her…spinach thing, Clint holding the door open with his back, hands occupied with the drink trays. Steve licks his lips. 
“Excuse me, miss?” Starbucks employees have their names on their aprons, right? He remembers that being a thing.
She turns back, bright-eyed, expectant. 
“Yes, Captain?” The smile twitches at the corners of her mouth. “Anything else I can help you with?” 
He opens his mouth, starts to say yes, not surprised she recognized him but willing to hope-
His eyes slide down to the top of her apron, corners adorned with colorful, cute little pins, black name tag fixed to the top left corner. A neat cursive scroll spells the word ‘Fourteen’ in stark white chalk. 
Oh. 
His mouth shuts. 
41 gives an exuberant wave as she grabs his elbow and all but drags him out the door. The grip around his drink tightens when he almost stumbles over her behind him. 
“Thanks, see you next time!” 41 grins. 
Without breaking his gaze, the barista leans against the counter and winks, waving her fingers at them. 
Maybe he should give one of those spinach milkshakes a try.

A Million (OK, About 60) Words for Sugar

It’s been a rough decade for sugar. The sweet stuff has a dark side, as emerging research suggests it may play a role in weight gain, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and liver disease.
While it’s not all bad, most people are eating waaaay too much. The typical American eats 17 teaspoons of added sugar every day. That adds up to… wait for it… 57 pounds of added sugar per year!
That’s about 1/3 cup per day, in case you’d prefer to just scoop it out of the bag and eat it by the spoonful, Mary Poppins-style.
And while research suggests that sugar consumption has been decreasing across the board, cutting added sugar can be really difficult because it has about a billion ingredient label aliases that allow it to slide by undetected.
Here’s a guide to what exactly added sugar is, the many names for added sugar, and some easy ways to cut your added sugar intake.
Sugar 101
Let’s go to sugar school real quick. Carbohydrates are made of long chains of individual sugar molecules. (Yup, even the carbs in foods that don’t taste sweet, like potatoes, pasta, and rice.)
Here are the key players:
Glucose. This is the sugar your body burns for energy. Your body can also convert the other types of sugar to glucose.
Fructose. Fructose is found in fruits and vegetables (alongside glucose), and it’s actually metabolized in your liver, much like alcohol. Research suggests large amounts of fructose (like those found in processed foods and soda) may contribute to a condition called nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Yikes.
Galactose. Galactose is the sugar molecule found in dairy products like milk and yogurt (along with some glucose).
For a fun science experiment, bite into a saltine and let it sit on your tongue without chewing or swallowing. After a minute or so, you’ll start to notice a sweet taste. This is because your saliva contains an enzyme that whacks individual sugars off each end of the carb chains that make up the cracker. The More You Know!
So, what’s added sugar?
Glucose, fructose, and galactose are all naturally occurring — mostly in grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts and seeds, and dairy products.
But added sugars are the ones that are added to foods or drinks during or after processing.
That would include the sugar that’s added to things like cake, candy, ice cream, soda, and so on. It would also include the sugar you put in your oatmeal, tea, or coffee; the syrup you drizzle on your pancakes; and the chocolate syrup you occasionally squeeze from the bottle directly into your mouth.
While naturally occurring sugars have been part of the human diet for… well, forever, really, added sugars are a fairly recent development — especially in the huge quantities we have access to today.
Research suggests there’s a connection between added sugars and obesity, and they’ve been linked to increasing rates of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, liver disease, and even depression.
IDing added sugar
According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, added sugar should make up less than 10 percent of your daily calorie intake. The World Health Organization (WHO) has even more stringent recommendations, urging that it’s best to limit added sugars to less than 5 percent of your daily calorie intake.
Luckily, food manufacturers now are required to disclose the added sugar content of foods on the nutrition label, which makes it a bit easier to identify sources of added sugar in your diet.
This is a GREAT thing, because there are more than 50 names for sugar that can show up on ingredient labels, making it really difficult to ID added sugar without the assist from the nutrition label.
The many, many names of added sugar
Most common added sugars
Here are some of the most common sugars you’ll run across:
Sucrose. Sucrose, which may also be called table sugar or granulated sugar on food labels, is 50 percent glucose and 50 percent fructose. This is the stuff you buy at the grocery store.
High fructose corn syrup (HFCS). HCFS has taken a lot of heat lately, and many companies are moving away from using it. It used to be extremely common in processed foods and sodas, but its higher fructose content (hence the name) — about 55 percent — makes it potentially more taxing on the liver than plain ol’ sugar.
Agave nectar. If you consider yourself remotely crunchy, then you’re probably familiar with agave nectar. Like honey, it wears a major health halo. But since it’s about 85 percent fructose, it’s probably not much healthier than other types of sugar — especially if you’re consuming it in large quantities.
Fruit juice. Fruit juice is a natural sweetener, but it’s still considered an added sugar. It’s really common in “healthier” products for kids, like gummy fruit snacks.
Honey. Honey is another natural sweetener that contains glucose and fructose. Although it definitely has some health benefits, it’s still considered an added sugar. Consuming large amounts of honey will have similar effects to table sugar on your body.

But that’s not all, folks! There are more than 50 (no exaggeration) more words for sugar that you may find on ingredient labels. Here’s a whole mess of ’em:

Easy ways to slash your added sugar intake
Limit the main culprits. The most common sources of added sugar for Americans are sugar-sweetened drinks, candy and pastries, and ice cream. You may also want to switch to unsweetened ketchup and sugar-free spaghetti sauce, as these products are often weirdly loaded with the sweet stuff.
Use alternative sweeteners. There are plenty of great alternative sweeteners on the market. We’re fond of stevia, monk fruit, and erythritol. (It’s not all rainbows and unicorns, though: Studies suggest some alternative sweeteners may negatively affect gut bacteria and increase the risk of type 2 diabetes. But more research is needed.)
Retrain your taste buds. If you’re used to having honey in your tea or sweetened cream in your coffee, there’s no need to ax it right off the bat. Just start using a little less and continue decreasing it over time. Within a few weeks, you’ll be used to a less sweet taste.
And remember, you don’t have to completely remove added sugar from your diet. That would be pretty tough, actually. Just make it a point to minimize your added sugar intake. ’Cause you know what? You’re sweet enough already.

Heya Everyone,
Now that the lockdown is opening up In my journey towards a healthy and fit body, I have decided to make changes in my lifestyle every 10 days so that I have enough time to adjust. Good habits are not easy to adapt for a person like me (Read – I am a foodie and a lazy bum

So let’s start with easy lifestyle changes I have made this week to kick start my weight loss.
Replaced refined oil with Olive oil for cooking
Read the benefits of using Olive oil here. Although I have always been using good refined Oil like Saffola still it is not beneficial for us. As far as cost is concerned, Olive oil is expensive but if you are using non-stick cookware, it will not hurt your pockets too much. Generally, I have seen better bargains on Olive oil in big supermarkets and online too. For families, you should never miss such a deal. So, Olive oil in, refined oil out. You can also use coconut oil for your cooking, it is equally good.
Replaced Sugar with Stevia
I don’t have much of a sweet tooth but I am totally a tea addict. I need my morning tea else I feel doomed

Tea and coffee lovers generally overdo sugar in their bodies. Sugar is the biggest devil in our meals, please please stay away from it unless you have low sugar or any other medical problem. There are many artificial sweeteners in the market and I have used almost all the variants. I have switched to Stevia sweetener since it is low in carbohydrates and does not contain Aspartame. Raw food before every meal
You might have understood that all calories are not the same. I am trying my best to eat some raw foods, say a fruit or salad half an hour before every meal. Fiber helps in the digestion of food, so my meal is digested in a better way. Also, I eat in proportion since I have had salad or fruit, my meal quantity is controlled.
No water after having meals
When we drink water after food, our digestion process slows down. So, I have started to wait for at least half-hour after my meals to drink water.
Processed foods out of my kitchen – Yes, you have read it right. I have removed all the processed foods (Read – Maggi, pasta, cookies, white bread, etc ). If they are present in my kitchen, I tend to eat them at some point in time. Avoiding processed foods is a very important factor to gear your weight loss.
These five lifestyle changes –
Olive oil instead of refined oil,
Stevia instead of sugar,
Raw food before meals,
No water after meals,
No processed foods.
My Latest Lifestyle Changes to Lose Weight are going to be with me forever and I don’t think I would have a problem following them religiously even after the lockdown due to Covid-19 opens up completely.

CBD oil is either CBD rich oil extracted from industrial hemp, or an oil made from CBD isolate in a carrier. The word “isolate” sounds like the word “isolated”, and CBD isolate is just that–CBD only–while the CBD rich oil that is not made from isolate is full spectrum, meaning it is (typically) complete with the other endocannabinoids and terpenes that are naturally parts of hemp.
What Is Copaiba Oil?
Copaiba is an essential oil derived from the resin of the copaiba tree. The copaiba balsam is processed to make copaiba essential oil, much like other plants are distilled to make essential oils.
Essential oils are not like olive or coconut oil, but they are oils distilled from plants. For more information on this, read Essential Oil Facts.
What Is Beta-caryophyllene (BCP)?
Beta-caryophyllene (BCP) is a component of both CBD oil and Copaiba oil.
People touting that Copaiba is better than CBD oil focus on Beta-caryophyllene (BCP) which is part of both CBD oil and copaiba oil.  Say “Beta-caryophyllene” with me. Or maybe don't.
While many in the essential oil business talk about BCP as if it's a cannabinoid, it is not–Beta-caryophyllene is actually a terpene. Terpenes are aromatic organic compounds–meaning that they have a smell.
Side note, while many essential oils are known for their strong smells, and terpenes are responsible for the fragrance in essential oils, even though copaiba oil is rich in some terpenes, copaiba oil has a gentle smell, so don't expect to be overpowered by it.  ??eliminate??
BCP is also found in clove, rosemary, melissa, essential oils. This is of interest since clove essential oil is often touted as a help for dental issues and is used by many mainstream dental practitioners to help with dental discomfort including sore gums. What is odd, is that it's also found in feces and saliva. Ewwww…

CBD vs Copaiba Myths
So let's get this sorted out.
Following are the arguments that need to be addressed regarding the comparison of CBD and Copaiba Oil.
Myth: Copaiba is better because it has more Beta-Caryophyllene (BCP)
1. BCP Isn't Really a Cannabinoid
In my post on Is Coconut a Nut?, we talked about how coconut is a nut, fruit, and a drupe (yeah, you'll have to read the post to learn about that). In a similar manner, BCP can be classified as both a terpene and a cannabinoid, but it's really a terpene.
Those on the Essential Oil side might tell you that BCP is a cannabinoid, and then those on the CBD side will tell you that BCP is a terpene. Technically BCP is a terpene, but it can be referred to as a dietary cannabinoid because of its action on the endocannabinoid system.
Copaiba oil does, in fact, contain a significant amount of BCP–typically around 55-60%, while CBD-rich hemp oil usually contains between 2 and 30%.
Essential Oil companies are touting that copaiba oil as a far superior solution to CBD, because…get this...it has WAY more of one of the terpenes found in the cannabis plant: beta-caryophyllene (BCP). But note–that is just one component.
2. CBD Oil's Other Components
Yes, Copaiba Oil has more BCP than CBD Oil has. However, full spectrum CBD oil has a lot of things in it that Copaiba doesn't have.
This is like saying that oranges are better than blueberries since oranges have way more vitamin C than blueberries. But we all know that there are other things in blueberries that make them beneficial for good health.
CBD oil (provided it is not made from isolate), has many other beneficial components in it that contribute to what is called the “entourage effect”–meaning that they each help the other parts work better. Those parts include cannabinoids, bioflavonoids, and other terpenes.
Copaiba Oil's Other Components
On the other hand, Copaiba oil is not just made up of BCP alone. Copaiba oil has other beneficial compounds in it as well–namely copaene, bergamotene, and humulene which have benefits. But wait, CBD oil has humulene and bergamotene too. The moral of the story here is that both have benefits and the main arguments being made aren't the whole story.
Higher Bioavailability of Certain CBD Oil
While it's true that there is more BCP in Copaiba oil then in CBD oil, this doesn't take into account the fact that there are certain CBD Oils that have a much higher bioavailability. Nano technology and water solubility greatly increase the bioavailability of the components of CBD Oil as such, these CBD oil benefits would clearly outpace that of copaiba oil.
At this point, it seems from research that CBD Oil's health applications are much wider than those of Copaiba Oil.
Myth: Copaiba Oil's Direct Receptor Interaction Is Preferred
Facts:
1. Direct action on 1 receptor is not necessarily better than indirect action on both.
Those who argue that Copaiba is better than CBD oil state that BCP works directly on the CB2 receptor, where CBD only has indirect action on both CB1 and CB2 receptors. (source)
CBD is an Allosteric Modulator
Furthermore, CBD performs complex actions on the body. CBD is known as an allosteric modulator, meaning that it can enhance or inhibit how a receptor transmits a signal by changing the shape of the receptor it's acting on.
This is a chemical phenomena which has extensive benefits. Additionally, CBD actively stimulates vanilloid, adenosine, and serotonin receptors. It is a completely gross misrepresentation of nearly 30 years worth of data to insinuate that CBD is not beneficial due to its inability to directly stimulate cannabinoid receptors. 
One example is that CBD is a positive allosteric modulator of the GABA-A receptor (helps the GABA receptor work better) and is a negative allosteric modulator of the CB1 receptor, so that one doesn't get psychoactive effects when using CBD.
The CB1 receptors are mostly located in the brain but also throughout the body, while CB2 receptors are in the immune and GI system mainly, but also a bit in the brain. 
Myth: There are 70 Studies on Copaiba Oil So It's Better
The above is something that has been pointed out by a certain MLM Essential Oil company.
Well, there are loads of peer-reviewed studies on CBD as well.
Myth: CBD Oil Has a Lot of THC in It and Will Get you High
Fact: CBD Oil Isolate has no THC in it. Full Spectrum CBD Oil that is sourced from industrial hemp has little to no THC in it and has no psychoactive effects. 
Now, it is the truth that even a small amount of THC could possibly result in a false positive drug test result, depending on the sensitivity of the test. CBD Oil without THC should not do this ever. One thing to remember is that poppy seeds and some other foods and OTC medications, can also result in false positive test results. 
Usage Safety Concerns
Most essential oil experts agree that you should not use essential oils internally unless you are under the care of a physician or aromatherapist. And make sure you read about essential oil emulsifiers before making anything with Copaiba oil.
In fact, there is actually a study on rats showing that ingesting copaiba essential oil increases bilirubin and can cause liver damage. (source)
Yes, go ahead and put Copaiba in your diffuser, or dilute it and apply it topically. But please don't ingest it.
Most CBD oil, on the other hand, is meant to be ingested. You can use CBD oil topically in a salve, or you can vape it, but most people like using it orally, typically in capsule form or as sublingual drops. But please speak with your physician before trying CBD oil in any form, particularly if you are taking medications. You might wish to do this before using Copaiba Oil as well.
Is Copaiba Cheaper than CBD oil?
Quite possibly. It all depends on how much of each product you need and how you will use it and of course if it works for you. Cheaper doesn't mean anything if it doesn't work. My son sees great benefits using a very small amount of CBD oil. So far, we haven't seen much benefit using copaiba oil, but we haven't done much experimenting.
Legal Questions
I don't know of any federal or state regulations regarding copaiba oil. There are some regarding CBD oil, but typically that is only for CBD oil that is sold in stores and/or that has more than .3% THC.
Why Not Try Both?
My question is–why does this have to be “my oil is better than your oil” fight at all? Why not try both?
For you, CBD oil might work better than Copaiba Oil or vice versa.
In fact, Copaiba Oil is supposed to help amplify the effects of other essential oils and has been said to amplify the effects of CBD oil as well. So both is almost always going to be better than using only one.
Conclusion
Copaiba Oil is not the same as CBD oil and the main beneficial ingredient that is getting so much attention (BCP) isn't even an endocannabinoid.
Copiaba oil and CBD oil are two different thing and they're both good.
If we're going to argue about this, what's next–a war about which is better–avocados vs oranges?
I say try them both and enjoy the benefits of each. Instead of perpetuating the CBD vs Copaiba war, let's understand the benefits of both and consider using both for a comprehensive formula to improve wellness.

While there are many places to purchase both CBD oil and Copaiba oil, you ]want to make sure that you are buying pure versions of each. There is known to be adulteration in the essential oil arena, and there is also a lot of monkey business going on in the CBD oil industry.

Best Recipes for Making Keto Peanut Butter
We all love and have used peanut butter as a diet-friendly alternative to butter and cream cheese. While you can eat peanut butter on a low-carb, paleo, or a low-calorie diet, many people avoid it on keto because the carbs don’t adjust.
The energy bomb is not a modern invention but date backs to the 14th century. Aztecs of the Mesoamerican culture ground peanuts and used the paste for various reasons and one of them was nutrition. They also used it to relieve a toothache by applying a blob of peanut butter on the tooth.
Marcellus Gilmore Edson takes the credit for the modern-day invention of peanut in 1884. He kept milling roasted peanuts until they developed a liquid-like consistency. Edson patented the recipe and the procedure. The next person to patent his very own process of making peanut butter was John Harvey Kellogg in 1895. He is Kellogg’s founder’s, Will Keith Kellogg, brother.
Both the brothers were health activists and introduced their invention in hospitals because of peanut butter’s easy digestive abilities. Even though peanuts weren’t expensive back then, it was marketed as a healthy food and sold at a costlier rate. The peanut butter was crunchy and had an uneven texture. It was only after 18 years that Dr Ambrose Straub, who worked in Kellogg’s made the first peanut butter machine. The result was a silky, smooth peanut butter, which is exactly like what we consume today. After getting successful results, Straub started his own company. We all know it as Skippy today.
Can You Eat Peanut Butter on Keto?
One serving of peanut butter is a healthy two tablespoons or 32 grams and contains 8 grams of carbs, 7 grams of protein, and 16 grams of fat. It contains 2 grams of dietary fiber and is a rich source of plant protein.  
75 percent of the calories come from fat, making it a great snack option for those who are on a ketogenic diet. Also, 2 grams of carbs is fiber, so you are only consuming 6 grams of carbs per serving. On a keto diet, you can consume up to 50 grams of net carbs in a day, so consuming peanut butter as a snack alone or with celery sticks and cucumber, will keep you well within the limit.
Also, peanut and peanut butter are a rich source of Vitamin E, bioactive components like phytosterols and resveratrol, potassium, and magnesium. Those who eat peanut butter on a regular basis tend to consume of a complex to nutrients that aren’t easily available in other dietary sources. A study by Penn State revealed that people who eat peanuts and peanut butter regularly follow higher quality diets compared to those who don’t.
If you are on a standard ketogenic diet and have a few extra carbs to spare by the end of the day, scoop a spoonful of peanut butter and eat it as a treat. If you are close to the limit, avoid eating peanut butter because it will disrupt the ketosis process. On the other hand, if you are on a targeted keto diet or a cyclical keto diet, you have the allowance to consume some extra carbs before and after a workout or on particular days. You can take advantage of the opportunity and add peanut butter to your smoothies or consume it directly.

Since it is dense, people often tend to overindulge, which takes away the keto-friendly characteristic from it. One of the things most people on a keto diet struggle with is the quantity of peanut butter they can consume in a day. There are a lot of factors that influence the amounts.
Most of the peanut butter brands available in the market add hydrogenated fat to their products. These are artificial trans-fat that can cause serious damage to several body organs. It can cause increased low-density lipoprotein levels (also known as bad cholesterol), lower HDL cholesterol (also known as good cholesterol), increased inflammation and free radicals in the body, and a higher risk of cancer and cardiovascular disorders. Read the labels carefully before making the choice. It is best to choose an all organic and natural brand because they don’t add preservatives.
Other factors consider is the type of peanut butter. The crunchy variant has more calories than smooth peanut butter as it contains two grams less saturated fat and two grams more fiber, which makes it heavier. If you are making a smoothie with the peanut butter, you should use the smooth one because it has a uniform consistency. On the other hand, crunchy peanut butter is a better choice when you are consuming it directly.
Coming back to the question, to get the correct amount, the cut level of peanut butter on a tablespoon so that you avoid the extra calories. Two tablespoons make one serving but if you don’t have many carbs left and still crave some peanut butter, you can have one tablespoon. It will contain 3 grams of net carbs, 4 grams of protein, and 8 grams of fat.
Is Peanut Butter High in Carbs?
Peanut butter is not high in carbs and is easy to make a part of your ketogenic diet. If you feel that the brands selling peanut butter still contain too much sugar and preservatives for your liking, you can make peanut butter at home.
If you exercise daily, it gives you a little bit more freedom to consume higher quantities of peanut. However, you should know that the American Dietary Association advises to not consume more than 20 percent of your daily calories from peanut butter. It is a common misconception that peanut butter increases weight, but it is exactly the opposite.
The vegan option contains a lot of fat that makes you feel satiated, so you are less likely to binge eat. That back-to-school feeling may be in the air, but I insist… summer is not over. I repeat. It is not over! To prove it, we’re doing all of the grilling and entertaining we can at our house. Summertime wouldn’t be the same without ice cream, cobblers, and other classic warm-weather treats so I’ve been on the hunt for light, fresh summer desserts that are guest-approved. I thought I’d share our favorites so far.
Healthy Dessert Ingredients
Summer is the perfect time to indulge in a little dessert since nature gives us plenty of sweet treats in season. Fresh berries, hand-picked peaches, and other fruits are tastiest during the warmer months. Many local farms and farmer’s markets have these organic fruits available at relatively inexpensive prices.
As with all of my recipes, I try to keep things simple because they allow me more time with my family (and less time standing over a hot oven). Plus, easy dessert recipes are a great way to get the kids involved in making (and eating) healthy treats.
I keep my pantry full of these healthy ingredients for when we crave something sweet. Learning to use healthy ingredients to enhance recipes, or to act as substitutes for other not-so-healthy ingredients, is easy to do and not as expensive as you might think. Making the switch to a healthier lifestyle (that includes desserts) is much easier when you have these ingredients on hand.
Avocado – nutrient-dense and a great source of ‘good’ fats
Almond flour – an energy-boosting source of healthy fats
Coconut flour – a low-fat, gluten-free grain alternative
Coconut milk – a dairy-free alternative for milk and creams
Maple syrup/honey – antioxidant-rich natural sweeteners
Coconut sugar – a natural sweetener containing vitamins and minerals
Stevia – a low-calorie natural sweetener. Read more about my take on it in this post.
Eggs – binds ingredients while adding protein
Heavy whipping cream/butter – vitamin-rich and adds a creamy texture. Use grass-fed dairy if possible.
Coconut oil – a dairy-free, anti-inflammatory alternative to butter
Cocoa powder – a great way to get that antioxidant-rich chocolate flavor without added sugars

These are some of my family’s favorite summer desserts. Whether you are looking for a summertime treat to make with the kids or decadent desserts to serve at your next outdoor gathering, you will certainly find a tasty and nutritious option here!
Homemade Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
This recipe puts a healthy twist on one of my favorite summertime treats. Avocados and coconut milk create a creamy base, while peppermint extract adds that familiar (and refreshing!) minty flavor.
My kids love to help me whip this up. From start to finish, the process is easy with an ice cream maker. But, if you don’t have one, just freeze the mixture and stir it every half an hour until it reaches the desired consistency.
No-Bake Raspberry Chocolate Pie
This is one of my all-time favorite recipes! Cocoa powder, raspberries, almonds, and honey create a healthy (and decadent) summer treat that children and adults will love.
Follow the recipe for a large pie, or use single serve dishes. I’ve made this no-bake dessert recipe in pint-sized mason jars for summer dinner parties and it was a big hit. You can also use strawberries instead of raspberries for am early summer variation.
Fruit Smoothie Sorbet
This sorbet is a refreshing summer dessert without the added sugars and artificial ingredients of store-bought treats. Fresh (or frozen) fruit, one banana, and a cup of coconut milk are all you need to whip this up.
You can use an ice cream maker, but I just use my blender. My kids love coming up with new flavor combinations. It’s a great way to get them to try different fruits, too.
Crock Pot Cheesecake
This recipe makes a delicious and healthy cheesecake base without heating up the house with the oven. The grain-free crust is made with almonds or pecans, while the cheesecake is sweetened with stevia or honey (you choose!).
Cheesecake is versatile and can be adapted to fit the season. Top it with fresh blueberries or add strawberries and drizzle with a dark chocolate sauce for a summery twist.
10-Minute Peach Cobbler
This recipe is a seasonal favorite at my house. It is easy to throw together and utilizes fresh peaches and almond flour to create a grain-free cobbler. Top this cobbler with a healthy whipped topping made from heavy whipping cream and stevia for that classic peaches and cream taste.
I love that I can use this recipe to make a single serving or enough for 10 people to enjoy. When peaches aren’t in season, I substitute berries and other soft fruits in their place.
Chocolate Coconut Clusters
These simple coconut clusters are easy to make and almost taste too good to be healthy (but, I promise, they are). Coconut, almond butter, and chocolate is a perfect combination of sweet, savory, and creamy. They are full of healthy fats and sweetened with antioxidant-rich dark chocolate.
My kids always want to help with these, and I often catch them sneaking bites in the process. These are perfect to have on hand for a healthy snack, but they are decadent enough to serve as a dessert, too.
Healthy Panna Cotta
Panna cotta is Italian for “cooked cream” and has a pudding-like texture. This recipe is dairy-free (although you can substitute dairy milk if you prefer) and calls for honey and maple syrup to sweeten it up. A key ingredient in panna cotta is gelatin. Grass-fed gelatin is a healthy source of protein and can soothe the digestive tract.
I love the versatility of this recipe. Dress it up with caramel or chocolate sauce for special occasions, or keep it simple with summer berries and nuts for a nutrient-dense treat.
Healthy Butter Pecan Ice Cream
Vanilla ice cream is good, but butter pecan is better. This recipe is filled with healthy fats (the kind we need for a happy brain) and sweetened with natural sweeteners. Who knew ice cream could taste this good, and be good for you (in moderation, of course)?
This recipe can even be made dairy-free by replacing the butter with coconut oil. Using homegrown pecans from the local farmers market makes this treat extra special.
Berry Cream Bars
This recipe is a bit more involved than the others listed here, but I couldn’t resist sharing it with you. These bars are delicious!
With dates, honey, coconut, raspberries and blackberries, this recipe makes a delicious and healthy summer treat. I imagine you could substitute blueberries and strawberries for the raspberries and blackberries, too.
Paleo Avocado Brownies
Sometimes I just need a fudgy, chocolate brownie. That’s why I created this grain-free brownie recipe with avocados and dairy-free dark chocolate.
This recipe is rich in nutrients and antioxidants and naturally sweetened with honey. Add nuts for an additional protein boost.
For a fun, summery dessert add fresh or dried edible flowers (daisies, violets, lavender, calendula, or chamomile, for example) either in the mix or as a garnish. If adding them into the mix, make sure to finely crush the flowers.
Strawberry Coconut Milk Ice Cream
Making strawberry ice cream at home is one of my favorite ways to use fresh strawberries. Egg yolks and coconut milk add protein, while honey and strawberries naturally sweeten the creamy base. Add a banana, peanut butter drizzle, homemade marshmallows, coconut cream or whipped cream for a healthy strawberry banana split.
This ice cream won’t be as bright pink as store-bought ones that use artificial dyes. If you still want that bright pink hue, you can try a natural food dye.
Paleo Lemon Blueberry Cake
Better than strawberry shortcake, this lemon blueberry cake combines the light and refreshing flavors of summer together perfectly. Fresh (rather than frozen) blueberries and plenty of lemon juice make this cake delicious and healthy. It’s also grain and dairy-free, which I love.
Although this recipe is a little more involved, it is totally worth the extra effort. It would be perfect for a summer brunch or afternoon coffee date with friends.
Coconut Mango Popsicles
These healthy popsicles are a great frozen treat for hot summer days, but they’re also great for digestion! With coconut water kefir as the base, these offer probiotics as well as electrolytes. They’re so easy to make the kids often make them all by themselves.
If you don’t want to wait, you can skip the fermentation step and use plain coconut water. You’ll miss the probiotic benefits but will still have a tasty and healthy treat.
Fresh Fruit
While this isn’t exactly a recipe, I think it’s worth including. I love that my kids enjoy fruit so much and don’t need additional sweets all the time. Fresh fruit is one of our favorite desserts, especially when the fruit is fresh and in season. We like to have fresh berries, sliced peaches, and watermelon for summertime treats. Don’t forget a sprinkle of cinnamon for extra antioxidants!

I’ve been sticking to the ketogenic diet nicely. I believe I’m down 19 lbs today after a month or so if doing it.
I’ll have to start integrating in some exercise.
I’ve even been able to combat the munchies by making adjustments to what I eat. Mostly pistachios. But I gotta cool it on them too because I think they’re screwing with my bowels when I eat too many and get up in the morning.

I stare at the Dunkin’ Donuts coffee. I get this shit every day currently. No sugar, cream only. I swirl it like wine; watch the white cream mix itself with the brown. Ice cubes clanking against each other and the plastic cup.
I consider reducing my carbon footprint. How though? I imagine getting containers with the same dimensions as my favorite foods/drinks: the coffee stuff, chipotle bowls, metal straws.
I’ll add it to the list.

I smoked so much out of the oil pen last night after getting out of work. From the parking garage all the way to the house. Tina was already smoking and drinking shit red wine from Walgreens. Yellowtail merlot. Tina is the lady I live with for the moment since getting back to Orlando.
I met with Frank yesterday. It was good. We hung at the house for a while; I spoke to his wife Jess for a while also. They have a dog named Microchip. Hes like 15 years old. Little scraggly looking thing. Hes on his way out: can’t see, can’t hear, shits himself, back legs barely work. Frank and his wife were debating on weather to put him down. He’s ok with it, Jess doesn’t want to. Time is probably going to take care of the decision for them.
So Frank and I left and went to our old Starbucks haunt up the road from him. The Starbucks right there boy the chipotle on Colonial. We chatted about music and listened to some old shit of mine: Brightline Spectrum (I was in this band with my boys Earl Hoback and Adam Heidrick. We ran through a string of bass players until we got Frank on board); also, a band called Gift to the Greedy, which we can appreciate now as older adults.
Frank and I don’t meet too often, but that is going to change. We are what I would call musical soulmates, in the sense of we probably are the most adaptable and accepting of new and different genres of any music. We’ve always been fans of the cream of the crop across all the genres.
The short stories here are:
I want to become Frank’s protege: I want to get caught up on his production techniques, and start making my own music again.
Frank wants me to become his manager of sorts. Just to facilitate shows etc; his sticking point is the marketing side of things so Im gonna come in and start attempting to handle some of that.

(I meant to write all this last night but smoked too much so here it is)
So we all aired our grievances ( mostly Tttt and Aaaaaaaaa) and had a drink. I had some johnnie walker black label, as I’ve been on a whiskey kick lately, mostly due to the keto diet.
So then we all leave the bar around 1:30 and head to the parking garage. Tttt has her husband on the phone who has been waiting for her, so she’s occupied, and goes her separate way as we walk to the Orange garage (Disney Springs has lots named after fruit haha orange, lime , strawberry)
Aaaaaaa and I go to her car on level one; she drives me over to where my car is on the other side of level one. We get to chatting in her car.
Mostly about her likely soon to be ex xcvbnm. I’m not saying I’m waiting to swoop in but I’m kind of waiting to swoop in.
For some reason about a week ago, I just felt compelled to walk up to her and start talking. It felt pretty natural. So I went with it and suggested we should do something in the future. And we got on the topic of her doing art etc. So she’s crafty like that also, which is a bonus because I had no idea.
Anyway, we chatted in her car for probably over an hour. Mostly her getting the bf troubles off her chest. I feel like she has no one to talk to on these matters so I just let her go off.
I know I’m treading the line of being the ‘gay friend’ shoulder to cry on. But I continue to make it know that my involvement is romantic in intention. And she’s down from what I can tell.
Her sticking point is that she has been drawn in to this narcissists web of gaslighting and the like. He breaks her down and then continually reels her back in. They’ve already broken up once and had mini break ups also.

About three days ago I started talking to this girl Aaaaaaaaa from work
She started there when I was In Alaska.
So we got to chatting at work and I learned a little about her: 36 and divorced finally, 17 year old daughter, and apparently she can’t hang on to a man (according to her), and self proclaimed low self esteem. But the last three days we’ve gotten a little close at work and want to make plans.  
Shes seems cool, she has some ‘on again off again’ guy in her life but she said she hasnt heard much from him the last few weeks. Although I just hit her up now after she got out of work, and she said he may come over or something to see her.
All that bullshit aside, I think she may not be too too emotionally invested at this point, but maybe hanging on for some last scrap of whatever, hopefully closure. I mean I don’t mind seeing her while shes still invovoled with someone,  but if he continues on his trend of not showing her off publicly etc (this is according to her, which was a point of contention for her of course), the situation is gonna sort itself out.
Im going to press on either way. Not wait in the wings, but try to get her out of course. And always escalate with male/female intent. She knows im interested that way so its all good.

Ive been watching wine and champagne videos lately. Just been trying to step up my game at Stk. also considering going for my level 1 in sommelier. Its a huge undertaking but the benefits and the street cred would be worth it I believe.
I have to get better. At everything in life. The last couple weeks I have been stepping things up at work. Getting in that groove of talking about the gig every day.

Had a great work night at STK. I saw a little results from my Orin Swift wine studies. Sold a bottle of Abstract to my table, and also sold one to my boy Luis’ table; the was in my neighboring section.
