well i haven't been updating this as much as i thought i would to be honest. when i thought about my journal being online i thought about me adding videos and stuff to it etc but i literally only have one entry other than this lol. 

i did try to make another one but it never posted and then was lost in the void and i never got round to rewriting the entry. im thinking of maybe doing it in a book instead??? i dunno maybe its just because im not into the swing of things yet. however, this format would be better because i want to add lots of videos to my research and also make video stuff aswell. 

anyway, today we had a group review and i thought it was sick to be honest. i feel like i finally have some sort of direction!! it started when i painted this 

when i made these paintings, not gonna lie i was a bit pissed off. i was thinking what the hell why am i just painting stuff when i could be doing more sick things??? so from that ive decided that im gna do more paintings of these characters (blue rabbit and worm) and then eventually make a stop motion animation out of it!!! i was thinking making a stop motion film with them in and also a live action version!! i want the whole thing to look very bodge job and a bit crap

i am really inspired by this artist i found on instagram called wilfrid wood, he makes sculptures of people out of plasticine 

i really like how they have a kind of DIY vibe to them, i want to make my little characters have those kinds of connotations, and the real life film the costumes can be shitty, like paper ears and uneven blotchy face paints maybe????

i am very inspired by coraline and wallace and gromit, both are amazing stop motion animations. i really like early wallace and gromit because you can see the fingerprints in the clay and i really like the homemade look it gives. what i like about coraline is that theres a nice bit and then a reverse reality which i think is really cool, maybe my film will have spooky bits and not spooky bits 

im not sure what i want to happen in my film, but i know i want it to be kind of creepy. i like the idea of having spongebob closeup-esque bits, essentially in spongebob thy cut to a still shot where it will be very close up and detailed and ugly 

i think the idea of me holding a painting up to the camera and you being able to see my hands would be quite funny - maybe it should be humorous as well?? 

this video is probably the biggest inspiration as it was the first kind of stop motion thing i saw that wasn't a professionally done film 

the whole thing is made in play dough and i just think it so cool, i really love hoe if something isn't ‘real life’ and a cartoon or a plasticine model you can just get really ridiculous and surreal with it.
