i agree that s2 was promising and seasons 1&2 felt like the beginnings of a very subversive and deceptively clever tv show and seasons 3&4 while they have some really strong episodes and get points for exploring guillermo's sexuality seem to be unsure what kind of show they want to be (i personally think the writers are not on the same page and that's why we get this discrepancy). i don't think we were wrong to expect a bit more nuance from the ѕhits & farts show at all i think the combination of silly and poignant was exactly what elevated it

I’m so sorry that people leave such bullshit in the tags when reblogging your stuff. Love your answer to this and your gifsets, they are incredible!

Leaving all the racism aside, why do people think that there’s a straight/non-straight ratio that has to be maintained in favour of the straights? And why do people stop giving a shit when their wishes concerning representation have been fulfilled? Having two non-white gay/lesbian couples on the show is fucking great, i agree, but just because that’s enough for you, because you feel represented by that, doesn’t mean that other people can’t and shouldn’t ask for more. Actually, when bisexual people ask for representation, they are not asking for more, there begging to finally see any representation. Because there’s none. We do not have to be content with the representation on the show if it doesn’t fucking include us, jfc.

Also, just on the story telling aspect, Michael and David’s storyline is severely lacking. They are cute and all, but they were neither given some real development nor screentime. So excuse us for wanting to see a proper slowburn storyline for a same sex couple that wasn’t explicitly stated to be queer from the very beginning. And excuse us for asking for liking a couple that has, shock horror, one (1) white man in it. We didn’t know that white members of the community didn’t deserve representation..because they’re white.

the thing that makes me most uncomfortable about this is this mentality that there should be some sort of limit to queer rep, as you said, a straight to gay ratio. (i wonder if this person would be so endeared to michael and david I'd they got as much screentime as any of the straight couples? 🤔). i love henren, they're fucking amazing and i would die for them. but karen has been on the show since s1 and we never got a backstory/begins episode for her (and we got one for josh! make it make sense) and we never got to see her and hen fall in love. they don't get nearly as much screentime as they should. michael and david? showstopping, spectacular, but the development was not given to us. forgive us for wanting to see well developed, slow burn romances on tv- the like that are always given to het couples. and like you said, bisexual rep! buck and eddie being confirmed as bi would mean so much to me and to so many others.

here's the thing i don't get, tho. given the fact that most anti buddie people i've seen happen to be buck stans- where is the same amount of energy for the writers giving the white characters so much screentime? buck had a begins episode in 4a and they still gave him so much screentime in 4b. buckxtaylor, a ship between two white people, one of whom is a side character and was brought back randomly in 4b after two whole seasons has had way more screentime and development than the michael and david, a queer poc couple who were already established in 3x18. as i pointed out before, josh (whom i love so don't even @ me), another white character got a begins episode before michael or karen did, despite being on the show for a shorter time than them. eddie a main character and poc, who got shot, had his storyline used as a prop for buckxtaylor. where is this energy and resentment for all of that? why are you targeting your hate at shippers who are just out here having fun? why are you so insistent on complaining about people making fan works and stuff for buddie over your faves? make them yourself, and if you can't i can think of at least 10 blogs (that are buddie shippers) who take requests. stop attacking content creators and shippers, it's ugly af.

all of this is performative activism at it's finest and it's extremely transparent.
