                   "I’ve gotta say... s’been nice not havin’ to run around the back of the bleachers on the football field to sneak the keg this time ‘round. They make it handy with that bar over there.” Weston stuck his thumb over his shoulder to point out the open makeshift bar that they set up in the high school gym. Ironically so, which had him a bit amused, but was certainly having a damn good time reliving the golden days with a drink in his hand and friends near his side. “Hidin’ it all from Coach Judd was a little difficult, I’ll admit. If I remember correctly, he found a red solo cup and the entire time was runnin’ bleachers all damn practice on Monday.” Laughing some more, Weston sipped from his beer then glanced to his right. “So, do I got your vote in the bag, or ya gonna break my heart too?”

SYDNEY FITZPATRICK | WILMINGTON PROM 2020.

In an effort to help the city rebuild and prosper after the devastation of Hurricane Selena, Sydney Fitzpatrick attended the Prom Night Benefit held by Wilmington’s City Council on Saturday, June 13th, 2020. Unlike eleven years ago, however, she opted to go stag and arrived at her alma mater, New Hanover High, in the company of friends but otherwise alone.

WILMINGTON PROM----

As a shock to probably no one, Emmy has never been to prom. In fact, she hadn’t even entertained the idea of attending this one. But even with her tough exterior and rough around the edges persona, there’s something to be said about dressing up and going out. Though it's entirely under the guise of ‘saving money’, having someone to go with isn’t so bad, either. Even with a thrift shop find and her favorite boots-- and every possibility she’s going to be underdressed-- she’s actually looking forward to it.

Not that she’d ever say so out loud.

The night had been an absolute disaster. After dragging Winnie out with her, he’d not only invited Carmen out, but then he’d just flat out ditched her to go home with someone else entirely. She hadn’t been able to spot anyone she knew and she’d had at least three too many shots. The swell of the crowd felt as if it were closing in on her, like walls of a dark room she’d never fully escape, and as she finally made it to the door, she reached into her purse for her phone, only to find it dead. Awesome. She walked herself through several calming breaths that, surprisingly, seemed to help-- fractionally, but it was something. It was at least enough to call out into the crowd to anyone that might be able to hear her, “Hey! Anyone have a phone I could borrow?”

Arianna had yet to finish even one drink, but she was already having arguably too much fun. It was her first big night out in Wilmington since she’d moved there barely two months prior, and she was determined to make the most of it. She didn’t mind if she was the first -- or only -- person dancing the night away as soon as she got the chance. With a half full glass in one hand, she shook her hips to the beat and sang along to all the words. A content smile rested on her lips, growing even wider as she momentarily locked eyes with someone walking by. “Hey!” She shouted ecstatically, waving them over to her. “You dance, right?” She asked with a light chuckle, urging them forward with an encouraging nod.

“Ohmygod, Penny!” Veronica shrieked when she spotted her dear friend, peeling away from Sam’s grip on her waist and practically bouncing over to the redhead before pulling her into a tight hug. The doctor had been under the impression that everything was fine between the two of them after she’d shown up teary-eyed at Penelope’s house with a bottle of wine and an apology, and wanted to ensure that moving forward hence her insatiable excitement. “You look so gorgeous! I literally could never pull off florals like you to -- it just goes so well with the red hair,” she beamed finally pulling away after a long moment. “We should get drinks! Do you want to get drinks? I’ve had, like, three or four so far and they are delish.”

PENELOPE BRADLEY | WILMINGTON SUMMER BENEFIT PROM

Penelope Bradley attended Wilmington’s summer benefit prom night hosted on the 13th June 2009 without a date, though she was most appreciative of Samuel Dryden’s offer. Ms Bradley wore a black floor length gown with a trumpet skirt and lace floral overlay by Pronovias plus high heels by Modcloth, thus putting herself into even more unnecessary debt. Ms Bradley completed the look with a black clutch purse, and accessorised with simple silver earrings and paired back makeup which was applied by her own fair hand. Ms Bradley spent much of the evening making full use of the open bar on offer and was later escorted home by Samuel Dryden.

SAT, AUG 31ST at the WILMINGTON FESTIVAL & RODEO

The festival was busy. No wonder, given that it was the first official full day of festivities, and that a popular country band was scheduled to perform in-- Ian took a glance at his watch -- less than three hours. The whole area was transformed -- he was well familiar with the Kingston ranch thanks to Greer, but it looked nothing like it. He was standing next to the Trendy Trudy stand, looking at a leather belt he was interested in, but realizing he was growing hungrier by the minute. ‘’The struggle,’’ He nudged the person next to him. ‘’You think it’s worth waitin’ up for this,’’ Just because the pop up shop was so crowded they couldn’t help everyone immediately. ‘’Or trying to trek my way to the food stands first and then back later on? I need a real consult,’’ Ian smiled.

He had a date. A pretty blonde, one with curvaceous hips and beautiful eyes, pouty lips like one of those Instagram models he was always seeing across his feed. Of course, him and River weren’t exactly exclusive — they’d spent a lot of time together, between the sheets and outside of the bed alike. There was no real reason for Cesar to feel jealous, but even as he kept reminding himself of that, the doubts still continued to seep in. How could he compete with that? Was he even ‘competing’ in the first place? His head was starting to spin, and not because of the three glasses of wine he’d downed in less than an hour as his eyes kept darting towards the couple, unable to get a read on them. Before long, the male was growing a bit warm, and with a light tug of Gloria’s leash, he lead the two of them outside for some air.

Leaning against the brick wall, Cesar let out a heavy sigh, lead leaned back against the building in an attempt to get his bearings. He wasn’t used to being in crowds, his therapist recommending him to avoid them as much as possible so that his PTSD wouldn’t be triggered — but he still wanted to live. As good of a time as he was having, even besides the bit of envy he was feeling, everything still felt a bit overwhelming, and he didn’t want anyone to worry. 

Hearing the same door he came out of open, Cesar whipped his head to the side, eyes suddenly locking with River’s. “Occupied,” he teased, forcing a wide grin. “Hope you’re not slipping out here on my account.”

          Cleo has decided to step out of her comfort zone, usually a woman of colour, and has opted for a more elegant look, as she is draped in a long black lace strapless dress. But best of all, has an elongated slit up to her thigh, to show off her rightfully admired legs. Due to the extravagant material of her dress being the forefront, she has decided to have a low bun, with curls loosely framing her features for a more subtle hairdo. Paired with the gold necklace Dom had gotten for her birthday, and black heels, she’s finally topped off the look with some diamond studded earrings.

Kip could not believe that he was walking back into the halls of the high school he had attended. It had brought a lot of feelings and memories back that he hadn’t thought about for a while. He hadn't attended his own senior prom, having fallen in the middle of a life change for Kip so he was actually excited and a little nervous to attend this prom, especially with Steph as his date. They had arrived and Kip looked around, spotting @beau-haywood​ across the room. He let Steph talk with a few of her friends and made his way over to his friend. “Hey man, you clean up nice.”
