A quiz to answer in regards to your workouts/yoga: 1. Do you look forward to your workout or do you procrastinate and dread it? 2. Do you enjoy the process of practicing? 3. Do you feel energized or drained after? 4. Do you get extremely sore or recurrent injuries? 5. Does your mood improve after a workout? 6. Do you get inspiration and ideas during your workouts? 7. Does your digestion, appetite and weight stabilize in relation to your workout/yoga routine? 8. Hormonal health and sleep should also benefit from a smart workout plan. How are yours in relation to your fitness routine? 9.Do you have a strong immunity and rarely get colds and flu? All these provide clues as to whether you are working out smart or you are going to hard, ignoring your body's signals and having to take forced breaks. Working out and yoga are extremely important to our health, both emotional and physical but we have to know how to listen to our bodies and find the nourishing ebb and flow to our workouts. Taking it easy with a mindful session one day and hitting it hard when we are overflowing with energy. Being gentle if underslept and finding the right intensity on our strong days. Certain routines like an hour long HIIT or a strong crossfit too often can really mess up the hormonal balance, lead to injuries, muscle or strength loss, weight gain and basically have the opposite effect of what we are looking for. It has taken me years to simplify my yoga style and create powerfu interval yoga routines in 30 minutes or less; effective HIIT classes in just 12 minutes or so and gentle groovy flows at 50 + minutes that can stretch and pamper the body while still building strength, grace, cardiovascular endurance, tone and agility. So my point is pick different classes on different days. Listen to your body and thrive. Building health takes listening to the body, self love and the balance of pushing yourself vs being easy on yourself. Do you think you benefit from your yoga or do you need to tweak your routine a bit? #workingoutshouldbefun #yogaislove #wisdom (at Bee Cave, Texas)
