i want to preface this by saying this post isnt targeted whatsoever, it’s just a trend ive been picking up on

something im noticing in the ns/fw tcw fic community is that people can tend to describe the clones as feral/animalistic during sexual scenes, and its just quite unnerving when you combine that phenomenon with the very real fact that a lot of creators are white

im hopeful its coming from a place of no malice and more emphasis on like energy (?) than dehumanization but it can. toe the line real close. even adjectivally, words like animalistic & feral are highly highly charged when applied to poc, and easy fix: replace them w something like “impassioned” or more sensory terms (“heated” idk lol) that don’t necessarily take away from the intensity or intended imagery of a scene

i dont think you can’t/shouldn’t explore themes of power and control, etc. but things like predator-prey play and “instinct” or “sense” (especially with charas like hunter) can really just come off as uncomfortably fetishizing/dehumanizing by getting off to this dichotomy of savagery (even when under the pretense of kink/affection/sceneplay) of men of color and (purported) innocence of a largely white fanbase

does this mean all the scenes you write have to be purely vanilla? no, but tact & thought when writing/consuming sexual media centering poc is a must
