Hey what the fuck lady? This kid is so insecure. His schemes are like the only thing he has to make him feel special or needed by other's (likely why he had such a hard time in this episode and refused to edit the plan, cause if someone thought he needed to change things it was a challenge to his planning abilities which he needs to keep his self esteem from crumbling) and this woman comes out and tells him he isn't special or different or talented at what he does. He's predictable. Nothing new or interesting. I'm kinda worried about what hearing that may do to him. Again, this is like the only thing on earth he thinks he's good at. And suddenly it's just dismissed completely as being mediocre.

me, on the outside: haha heehee scrooge hates gladstone because he’s dumb and ugly

me, internally: scrooge and gladstone have incredibly similar insecurities and motivations. they’re both used to people only wanting to be close to them for their assets. everyone wants to use scrooge for his money, and everyone wants to use gladstone for his luck. there’s a lot they could both bond over because they’ve both been heavily exploited in the past and want to avoid it happening again. they also both care a lot about their image. scrooge wants to be seen as someone successful and hardworking, someone who can conquer anything. gladstone wants to be seen as someone whose so lucky he doesn’t have to work for anything in life, getting whatever he wants without even lifting a finger. they’re also both held back by these images of themselves, these personas. scrooge not allowing himself to do certain things because it’d go against what he’s worked so hard to tell people he is. this mean stingy man who’d never share a dime with you, even if you were in the most struggling of times. gladstone is horrified of people thinking that he’d ever want to work, since he’s gone by not doing so for so long. he has a deep desire to do more, to have achievements, to be successful, but he pushes it down because that’s not who he’s spent all of his life letting himself be. both of them tend to hold back their actual desires for how they think they should feel due to this persona. scrooge may want to help out donald, pay for things for him, but he won’t let himself. gladstone is harder to pull examples from, but he’s shown so many times that he’s so much happier without his luck, working, and making something of himself. but he always just... goes back. scrooge and gladstone both have periods where they let their personas slip, but rather than staying in a state where they’re happy and true to themselves, they always go back to how they were before. cause that’s show business, kids.
