if you want to actually start to end homelessness, you need to give homeless people unconditional homes, including when we use them to do drugs or sit around drinking. either housing is unconditional or it isn’t

someone sitting at home alone, an active alcoholic, squandering your charity, drinking all day is better situation than a street homeless alcoholic. someone using drugs in your charity house is better than them doing the same w no shelter

most of you would not like most street homeless people, I definitely don’t and didn’t when I was street homeless. for every one person who uses unconditional shelter to turn themselves around, someone else will do jack shit and very slowly, if ever, work through the issues that made them homeless, will maybe never be able to live independently. still better than street homelessness, still worth doing. ultimately either you believe that shelter should be universal or you don’t

going to put my own two cents in here with goncharov analysis. I see everyone talking about the clock - especially the pocket watch - but I have not seen anyone say anything about the fact that Goncharov dies alone.

The entire film, he is surrounded by people. He is part of a group, a piece of this perfectly working machine. Never is he entirely forced to reckon with what he has created, what he is. He is never entirely just himself, and the consequences are never his own to face.

It is only when his own hubris ruins these walls, these relationships that he has meticulously created - whether to protect himself or the outside world - is he alone. Left with nothing but himself. Goncharov dies alone, and in the end, it doesn't matter how hard he fought, how desperate he was. He dies alone.

I just find this so interesting, especially when you add in this aspect of a legacy. Why has he built this up for himself? The idea of an heir is mentioned multiple times, but by the end his relationship with Katya is so wrecked that it is impossible. Someone to inherit what Goncharov has created. Someone to remember. He dies alone.

Will anyone remember Goncharov? There is no legacy, nothing but the blood on his hands. It has all been for nothing. He is alone, dying under the weight of this caricature he has created of himself.

17) as i said in the previous ask, so many fic ideas. too many fic ideas. i'm drowning in fic ideas over here, and most of them just stay rattling around in my brain. but i've been planning on reworking and creating a second draft of come back wrong trope, in which matthias was ressurected but Came Back Wrong!! it's a fic idea dear to my heart and i really want to just get it written!! and on paper so i can fiddle with it more. soon!! hopefully!!

2) Fairly often! I like writing self indulgent fic so it's often like 'oh wow someone wrote a fic that's exactly what i want' but i also have a tendency to overthink it a lot, so sometimes rereading fics i really like also comes with the thought of 'what if i never write anything i like this much again' which is silly! But overall rereading my own fics is fun (especially when i forget what exactly i wrote)

7) oh gosh, too many. I'm a big ideas person, but only a few ever get actually written, and thus even fewer get finished. thanks to currently reading the sunshine court, i'm rotating my aftg au for soc in my mind (which yknow will hopefully get written!!)

14) I feel like Helping Hand would make a nice slice of life webcomic! eyes and hands, sometimes bullets as a body horror short film? any visual medium of my fics would be very cool, i think

22) I try to have an ending for every fic i write at least vaguely in mind, because I've found that writing endlessly into the void is not for me, and i admire those who can! i'm definitely not a planner, but if I don't have an ending in mind then I don't really go anywhere!

27) I was nervous to post eyes and hands, sometimes bullets, mostly because in writing it, i'd desensitized myself to the body horror aspect and kept doubting myself if it is actually as gross as i wanted it to be. i had such a specific idea for that fic and definitely doubted myself at some points. but hey, i like it and i'm proud of myself for it!!
