children's chapter books/series that have an innate, integrated way to show different kinds of families are so fucking sick. I'm rereading wings of fire right now so largely I'm thinking about the thing with the mudwings with their siblings and the rainwings with their communism. and of course all the main characters obviously have different arrangements, and each other, but the crown jewel for this one is For sure percy jackson. every demigod By design is somewhat missing one parent, so their family structures have so much room for variation, and it's woven into the very fabric of the world. d.sney can try to show different kinds of families any way they want but their worldbuilding will never compare
