Hello! I was wondering how badly untreated asthma could affect someone, besides death?
Well first of course death, but you said not just that, so here it goes!
Symptoms, first, because it's an effect of asthma all the same:
Shortness of breath
Chest tightness or pain
Wheezing when exhaling, which is a common sign of asthma in children
Trouble sleeping caused by shortness of breath, coughing or wheezing
Coughing or wheezing attacks that are worsened by a respiratory virus, such as a cold or the flu
Plus, for some people, it will become worse while you're exercising, or the worsening can be triggered by workplace irritants (chemical fumes, gases, dust...) or airborne substances like pollen, mold spores, etc.
If the asthma gets really bad, using an inhaler won't stop or even make the asthma attacks decrease in intensity. It can cause long-term damages to the lungs (so basically you'll have a lot of trouble breathing and even more trouble doing things that require bigger intakes of breath, like exercising or holding your breath underwater). People with very bad asthma might be at a bigger risk for osteoporosis, though it's debated.

Still not getting over how evgueniy is sleeping with a chunk of uranium under his pillow, perfectly aware (to some level) of what it is, and simultaenously consider himself the smartest person in the room
Bestie I don't remember what?
What chapter was this like I don't remember writing that he had anything under his pillow??? I think he had like some sort of compartment where he held the substances but not under his pillow specifically??
Also I never name dropped any substance I just called a glowing rock so for all you know it was radium or whatever lmao
(Do remind me where this passage was pls cause I don't remember haha)

The main thing about this world is that it takes place precisely 1000 years after a cataclysmic war. The main plot (as per draft 2) starts with the celebration of this thousand year "anniversary" of the Peace Treaty, and it is partly the controversy surrounding this treaty that has to do with King Afanasiy becoming a target and eventually dying in suspicious circumstances.
The War itself is heavily mythicised in present times, being so far in the past. Some greatly exaggerate the level of destruction caused by it, making it akin to an apocalyptic event. It is lost to history for the most part, but the Moon somehow has to do with this, too (some say part of it was damaged because of that war, others speculate people took refuge up there, others say it was the assassination of prominent moon-explorers that was the catalyst for the war. Either way, people of all beliefs have created an entire mythology around it, some fringe groups even basing their religion on it). What IS known from the actual historical sources is that the main cities from all warring countries were utterly burnt to the ground using powerful weapons that have since been banned, and the technology necessary to create them, utterly destroyed. Some find this ban extremely controversial, as a large impediment to science. People in this school of thought would say that the reason their present society is less technologically advanced than their predecessors in the previous millennium is not because the inventions were destroyed in the fire, but because the first generation of survivors deliberately hid and destroyed all traces of advancement from their times, setting back progress by more than a thousand years.
The Treaty's main purpose was redrawing borders at the end of the war, taking into account the newly formed uninhabitable zones, which have been walled in for safety reasons (the smoke was too toxic, and the water sources were contaminated, too, leading to dams being built and even the water courses themselves being redirected to combat this. The soil, of course, was affected too). Scientists at the time estimated a much earlier date for the complete decontamination/ "healing" of these lands, so the Treaty focused on establishing temporary borders, with the intention to migrate back to the original lands when they become habitable again. However, 1000 years of little improvement (and little collaboration/ interest shown, too. At some point they just walled these borders in and never checked on them again, for fear of deadly poisons), they have kept the temporary borders as permanent ones, save for their being slightly redrawn in subsequent, smaller scale wars.
Both of these factors contribute to the scale of the controversy caused by the 1000th anniversary of the Treaty. The issue becomes most polarised between two camps, one that believes the Treaty to be essentially nonvalid after so much time has passed, and likening adhering to such a document to taking an ancient myth literally, and one that believes the uninhabitable zones, have, in truth, become safe enough centuries ago and that returning to the original borders is an imperative, not only in light of upholding tradition, but opposing this cross generational conspiracy.

The Land of Eternal Winter - Political Compass 9×9 - ultimate character sheet + worldbuilding masterpost
Tumblr media
Auth-Left
Including actual communists but generally just working class people and their adjacent labour unions, political parties etc
Tumblr media
Center-Left
Including again, mostly working class people (regardless of political affiliation), people who are "progressive" by the standards of this society or otherwise people who view the revolutions in a positive light although they themselves would not join
Tumblr media
Lib-left
Including actual anarchists as well as, again, people who would be considered "liberal" by the standards of that society, as well as those who prioritise their personal freedom etc
Tumblr media
Auth-Center
Comprised of people who are power hungry for the most part, as well as others who are opposed to the current regime for whatever other reason
Tumblr media
Centrist
People who genuinely want nothing to do with all of this, and are mostly concerned with their personal affairs, in this context used as synonym for apolitical
Tumblr media
Lib-Center
People mostly concerned about personal freedom etc rather than any specific political affiliation, including various villagers (who would be conservative from a cultural lens)
Tumblr media
Auth-Right
Including actual imperialists but mostly just traditionalists and the older generations of monarchists, people more concerned with justice and order than peace
Tumblr media
Center-Right
Again, mostly monarchists and conservatives, more or less comprising the majority/ status quo of this society
Tumblr media
Lib-right
People who value freedom, peace, etc more than order, justice etc, in the case of the monarchs: particularly lenient in their rule, this side also includes republicans (in the anti-monarchist/ presidency sense)
Tumblr media
Edit:
Note:
The numerals indicate how proemiment a character actually is in the story
I = main cast
II = supporting character
III = episodic character
IV = background character
End of note
DISCLAIMER
I do not pretend this is a very accurate representation of an actual political compass, I mostly use it as a neat little character template because it's one I've been using for a long time
The society in which these characters live is largely very conservative, so even the left wingers are not as left as they would normally be, or the progressives as progressive as irl, etc. See: Overton window
I have indeed conflated right wing with conservative and left wing with progressive in some cases (otherwise the characters would not be so political, instead being in some way or another "against the grain" and thus falling in the category of "they care more about their personal freedoms"), and also the authority-liberty axis is used in a government sense with some (ostensibly political) characters, but in a personal (how lenient or inscrutable of a person they are etc) with less political characters.
I would also like to add that I tried my best with the names (personal names, surnames, toponyms etc), but I know I might have made some mistakes. If you know the language in which any of those names are written and it makes you cringe, feel free to critique them, but also offering some alternatives, because otherwise I cannot change them for the better. (On the other hand all country names are equally "cringe" translating literally to stuff like Frozenland, Mistland, Springland etc, so I'm not being disrespectful to any country in particular).
End of disclaimer
________
I worked about 2 months on this, with a total of 81 panels, and almost 100 characters illustrated
I personally am very satisfied with the end result and how far I've come both regarding my drawing and my writing skills. I really hope you guys enjoy it too and that the lore, presented in this format, will make you interested in my novel. Currently I've only written draft 1, but I'm working on wprldbuilding and outlining for draft 2, as illustrated (badum tss) above.
Thank you for reading!

2, 6, 22 for gintarė
I think this was the edgy OC ask
2. What would ppl not expect about her
I think they wouldn't expect her to have a softer/ more vulnerable side because she's literally created this image of her being a fighter woman etc since she's leading the revolution.
Tumblr media
This is perhaps why this is one of my favourite pictures of her. Just looking at the shore longingly, as if missing a home she never had
6. What would convince her to go against her moral compass?
I don't think she would betray her principles for anything tbh. It's on ideological and ultimately moral grounds that she refuses to collaborate with the other movements, and why she distrusts and eventually opposes Evgeniy. And her main code is protecting the most disenfranchised people, so if she ever abandoned that cause, she'd have nothing left.
22. Character alignment
I'd say lawful neutral? She's definitely willing to get her hands dirty and of that involves killing, too. But she'd never better her own moral code and her own cause
