very sad how star wars is slowly changing the narrative from "the jedi were victims of a genocide planned by a geriatric fascist" to "well but maybe they would have lived if they'd disposed of the very things that make them jedi to begin with, so they're kind of at fault??"
i wish george never sold sw and just buried it in his backyard or something

I just saw someone on Twitter deadass claim that the moment up top is exactly the same as the moment below it,
"This is Luke acting out of fear," they say. "Both are completely in character," they tell me.
To which *I* say:
Tumblr media
Are we really gonna do this?
Are we REALLY gonna compare:
Greenhorn Jedi Luke, after being tempted and manipulated by the Emperor for some time, learning that everyone he cares about was walking into a trap of the Emperor's design, and then hearing Vader — who has murdered thousands, if not MILLIONS of people — threaten him with making his sister turn to the darkness...
To Elder Jedi Master Luke, decades later, having trained numerous students for some time, sensing that this nephew is being turned to darkness, going to confront him privately at night — and then straight igniting his fuckin' weapon on him while he sleeps?
Tumblr media
NO.
Fucking NO.
Get the FUCK outta here with that.

Why Disney SW is bad and Kenobi was OOC
Here’s my answer:
The writers have no idea what it means to be a Jedi.
The identity of the Jedi, the Jedi way, the system of philosophy and beliefs that the galaxy is based on is something essential. It’s the thing that made audience of the movies into life-long fans. However, this is the element that is constantly missing in SW stories produced in Disney era.
It’s the core problem and until it is fixed, nothing can be done. If the new stories are based on flawed premise and preconceptions that aren’t in line with established beliefs and values by George Lucas, then those stories won’t magically get better. It will be the same as it’s been so far.
This reason, the lack of understanding of who a Jedi is, is why Kenobi show was also bad. The point of Obi-Wan’s character is that he is a model Jedi. That’s why he was appointed as Anakin’s master, to be an example to him. He adheres to the strict Jedi beliefs away to the point that on Mustafar he struck his old padawan down despite the pain it caused him.
But Obi-Wan in the Kenobi show wasn’t a Jedi at all which is OOC.
In ROTS Obi-Wan already let go of his attachment to Anakin. He was not dwelling on the past and useless regrets, that’s not how he was raised or taught to think. He’s a fully trained Jedi Master for a reason. He accepted that Anakin turned to the Dark Side, that’s why he confronted him on Mustafar and even then he still gave him chances to back out of the fight (”It’s over Anakin, I have a high ground” was literally his last of many warnings). After that fight Obi-Wan was done and moved on with what he had to do in the present. As a Jedi he had a clear mission - to watch over Luke on Tatooine and learn the secrets of the Force from Qui-Gon’s ghost. Obi-Wan’s whole identity is being a Jedi and the thought that he could abandon his duty and wallow in self-pity and misery like in this show is a huge disservice to his character. That’s not what Obi-Wan’s character is about.
In other words, to create drama, the writers changed Obi-Wan’s whole way of being. It was sad to watch. It wasn’t him, it was a fanservice emo man for whump lovers who love to see Obi-Wan cry and be in despair.
True Obi-Wan remembered the Jedi Code

Those are the words he lived by and this is also the thing that is completely missing in Disney Star Wars.

Came back to my old account to say this, but every time I think about Star Wars lately I get depressed and anxious.
I just really don't like the direction Star Wars is going and I just had to get that off my chest. And at the risk of sounding like one of the fandom menace guys, I just don't feel like Star Wars is for me anymore. I just can't bring myself to care about the mandalorian, or ahsoka, or grogu, or the world between worlds, or the bad batch, or whatever else. I just wish the franchise hadn't shit the bed so hard with the last Jedi. I'm struggling to care about the scraps we occasionally get of Luke Skywalker trying to rebuild the Jedi Order when we already know he fails.
I understand Disney wanted a clean slate to tell their own stories, I just wish it hadn't come at the expense of George's canon.

The fact that so many people are insisting on that Luke Skywalker was able to redeem Darth Vader because they were related by blood is just so confusing to me. Luke saved his father by not going to the dark side but adhered to his Jedi teachings and stayed on the light side: he didn't let his fear, anger and hate to control him, rather, he controlled them and and he chose to have compassion for Darth Vader, and by doing so, he become and loved like a Jedi Knight.
Tumblr media
He wanted him to be happy and to be free from suffering, which is unconditional love, what doesn't change even if the one we love behaves negatively. It wasn't loyalty to "blood ties." It wasn't a bond based on Vader being Luke's "attachment figure." It wasn't Luke "wanting to have a father." It was selfless, genuine, non-attached compassionate love, on which Jedi Knights are living on. And this was able to remind Darth Vader how to love as a Jedi Knight, and therefore, the Jedi - Anakin Skywalker - was able to return.

Lowkey, Filoni is kinda annoying me the more I think about it lmao
I saw the interview where he’s talking about Luke and him not AcTuAlLy being knighted and I just - come on really?
And the whole thing where he breaks down the ot and pt as essentially being a story about father-son relationships and all Anakin needed was Qui-Gon as a father figure that’s why it’s duel of the fates and Luke and Vader and all that.. idk i just feel like there's too much self projecting going on
It never even fully crossed my mind to simply take away father-son relationship meanings from the movies. It was always about good vs evil, evil being something that’s within a person, concealed by negative emotions and characteristics, that one must try to control and overcome lest it controls you, because it’s right there in all of us, and basically the jedi showing us how it’s done, how to face your fears and your darkest parts and how to love healthily and stick to the light and good cause that’s what will prevail no matter how bad the situation may seem, and how miserable the dark side truly is, and all that jazz.
But it was always more than just about nuclear family type of stuff. It was so metaphysical and intricate and yet so simple at the same time.
I don’t know, but him explaining the meaning as that, downgrades it a little in my opinion and also misses the mark. I feel like he did too much flipping and spinning around to come to that conclusion, instead of just facing the meaning that’s right in front of him.

"what but I love neurodivergent people" yeah until they're fat, unconventionally attractive, visibly disabled, or show any actual symptoms of neurodivergency like not understanding social cues, having poor volume control, make small talk even if youre not interested, make noises on public transport, seriously misinterpret something you've said, need you to rephrase something, don't understand how to do something and need you to explain multiple times before they get it, or inconvenience you even slightly.

Well, athingofvikings just blocked me for saying that physically assaulting someone for being a Nazi /fascist with no provocation is bad.
I don’t agree with nazis / fascism, but I also don’t agree with being violent to someone when not done in self-defence.
