Greater East Asia Conference - 1943 (japan) comic

After the war, both Thailand and Philippines became part of SEATO (military pact) and ended up having to enter both the korean war and vietnam war because of this.

In 1961, Philippine pulled Thailand and Malaysia to establish ASA, but that failed. Philippines ended up proceeding with Maphilindo in 1963 (a trio confederation among malaysia, indonesia and philippines seeking cooperation among the "malay" race, but that failed as well).

Thankfully no one gave up, and after these failures, ASEAN was born. Founding members were Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

This fan comic is hetalia version of a part of the convention in 1943, months away from the start of WWII.

In the convention, there were 6 participants who were invited:

Empire of Japan Empire of Manchua Republic of China (nanjing) Republic of the Philippines Kingdom of Thailand State of Burma (myanmar today) Provisional Government of Free India

Philippines is with President Jose Laurel in this comic.

The dialogues (with the flags) were taken from the politicians during their speech in the conference.

I am so sick of the phrasing that Germany is persecuting supporters of Palestine because the German government feels "guilty" for the Holocaust.

Germany uses its support for Israel to offset its atrocities on to Palestinians. It uses its support for Israel to muddy the waters on what is and isn't antisemitism and to arrest anti-Zionist Jews. It uses its support for Israel to persecute, police, and deport Palestinian and Muslim migrants and then offset its obvious racism and Islamophobia on to Jews.

Germany has never fully reckoned with the white German gentile supremacy that caused the Holocaust. It has never reconciled with Jews. It never fully acknowledges the colonial violence that preceded the Holocaust or the Romani victims of the Porajmos.

Germany is a white supremacist state. Germany is a police state. Germany is a deeply Islamophobic and antisemitic state. The German government is an antagonist to Palestinians, Muslims, and Jews alike.
