god today has been so awful i really want to *remembering the simurgh knows every possible future and guides me towards my most destructive end* get into league of legends
A song I listen to (The Rifle's Spiral - The Shins) has the opening line "Dead lungs command it", which is an absolutely incredible opening line don't get me wrong. But I only know this now due to looking up the lyrics, as I am generally very bad at making out what exactly singers are saying in most of their songs. Originally, I thought it was saying "Did lungs command it?", which... alright, let's do a comparison.
"Dead lungs command it": You're doing something on the orders of someone who is already dead. Very evocative, particularly in a song which I believe was written in response to suicide bombing attacks.
"Did lungs command it?": Expressing disbelief that what you're doing could even be ordered by a living breathing human. Absolutely killer hook. Straight out of an H.P. Lovecraft short story. I need to listen to the rest of this song now.
There isn't really a point to this post. I'm not saying one is better than the other. Just demonstrating how not being able to understand lyrics can sometimes add meaning to a song, even if that meaning is entirely imaginary.
you're going about your normal day when, suddenly, surprise! you've been pokémon mystery dungeon'd!
unfortunately, due to budget cuts, the pokémon assigning quiz has been canceled. instead, you must spin THE WHEEL, assigning you a random, unevolved, non-legendary and non-mythical pokémon. you must now go on some sort of world-saving adventure as this pokémon. good luck!
tell me in the tags what you rolled, and how you feel about it - for bonus points, you can spin the wheel again for (or just take your pick of) a pokémon to be your partner.
bonus rules:
you're not shiny unless the wheel tells you you're shiny
take your pick of regional forms and evolutions (for example, if you roll vulpix, it's up to you whether that means normal or alolan vulpix)
apply whatever logic you like with regards to gender
Homebrew Fallout faction I've been kicking around is The Theophagy, an east-coast Super Mutant Warband who, after a fraught-with-doctrinal-misinterpretation encounter with a group of Catholic missionaries, have oriented themselves around the grand project of locating, killing and eating God in order to absorb his power
