As we wait for me to finish writing the first part of To Kiss The Edges of Your Cropped Ears (TKTEYCE) I bring to you a concept
food for thought
something to mull over in pastime
the men and women of Avatar (1&2) finding out their human significant other/ love interest has their nipples pierced...AND THEN THEM SEEING THE PIERCINGS FOR THE FIRST TIME
wait also imagine their avatars having the same piercings too
might delve into this topic via small blurb later idk idk
that is all.

To Kiss The Edges of Your Cropped Ears
Tumblr media
(this gif is my most favorite shot ever)
Neteyam Sully x recom!avatar!fem!reader
ALL CHARACTERS IN THIS FIC HAVE BEEN AGED UP, THERE ARE NO MINORS
Warnings: guns, violence, use of guns, violence, angst, physical and verbal fighting, strong language, heart break, wounds, blood, the works honestly, intimate moments, sexual tension, possible smut later on (or very close to it)
Enemies to Lovers
Prompt: You're the only one who can help but you are enemies.
Teaser from Part One
It happened within a split second. Neteyam went to adjust his position, only he lost his footing making him stumble slightly before regaining his balancing and pulling the string of his bow taught hastily- Neteyam was never one to stumble. You heard the commotion coming from above you and aimed your rifle up, into the tree, ready to shoot at the first sign of movement. Luckily, Neteyam was still expertly hidden with his back pressed roughy against the bark of the tree- fully out of your sight while still keeping you in his.
Slowly the air stilled as you stood on high alert- and then you caught sight of something floating towards you.
A white, almost transparent, thing glided through the air and captivated every single one of your senses as it landed on the barrel of your weapon. A Woodsprite, you had been briefed on the flora and fauna of Pandora before your deployment and remember the name printed next to a picture in a textbook but that was about it.
Neteyam wasn't sure how to react as he watched the scene unfold- Eywa had spared you from his arrow, but why?
PART ONE COMING SOON
(its like 85% finished)

combining the prompts would be cool! and I vote for lo’ak (I love Neteyam but I feel like there’s very few lo’ak fanfics out there)
ok I totally agree like Neteyam has my whole heart and should but there is so little for Lo'ak out there it makes me so sad

Guys
thoughts on a Neteyam or Lo'ak fanfic with the either of the prompts
The Omaticaya had a myth, a legend that said when Eywa felt the time was right, when it was most needed, she would send a child of hers to live amongst the clan. This child would be born from the atokirina.
OR
The Na'vi had a story they told as eclipse approached and the little ones were lulled to sleep. It was of the atokirina, spirits of the sacred tree, and how they were once beautiful Na'vi that Eywa had turned into woodsprites to protect their purity. It is said they would be reborn as Na'vi one day, when Eywa decided it was time.... no one expected the bedtime story would come into fruition.
y'all tell me which prompt you like better (if any) and which brother I should write it for (or should I write both prompts but one with Neteyam and the other with Lo'ak 😳, idk let me know)
(also rereading this I could literally combine these prompts they are the same 😐)
still... tell me ur thoughts guys

Love At First Sight
Tumblr media
Synopsis: How each of these characters would experience love at first sight.
EVERYONE IS 20+ NOT MINORS
(Jake, Neytiri, Neteyam, Kiri, Lo'ak, Tsireya, Ao'nung)
Jake Sully
ok wo we have basically already seen Jake experiencing love at first sight with Neytiri
BUT I WILL GO INTO GREAT DEPTH
Jake 'cool guy' Sully is a major romantic
he has no shame in flirting and letting you know how he feels. none at all.
so I think it would happen somewhat similar to the first avatar movie, you rescue the dummy avatar about to get eaten
he sees you
and this is one of the few times Jake does not have a flirty pick up line ready to go
you're just so ethereal
he chokes on his spit a little bit
but Jake recovers smoothly
I like to think Jake has his own version of the Flynn Ryder smolder and BOY IS HE USING IT ON YOU
smoldering. everywhere.
puffing out his chest??? constantly???
but on the inside he is giggling, feet kicking in the air
I also feel like Jake is a blusher
I mean the tiniest thing could set him off
eye contact
physical contact
eye contact during the physical contact
he will blush at the drop of a hat and this BOTHERS HIM SO MUCH
LIKE HE TRULY FINDS IT SO ANNOYING
but its actually really cute
I don't think Jake would right off the bat be like "OH we're in love"
but he is the type to be like "we're meant to be fs"
I love him.
Neytiri
Neytiri is not like Jake
at all
I feel like you guys would meet in the village
doing something mundane like weaving or picking fruits near the village
and she'd see you before you saw her
ALARM BELLS IMMEDIATELY
she's hiding behind a tree now watching as you delicately pick fruits and put it in your woven basket
I doubt the Na'vi have stories of love at first sight the way humans do
so she was flabbergasted
im talking her flabber was absolutely gasted.
why was her heart beating so fast?
her hands were sweating?
for why?
you eventually clock her hiding spot and peak ur head around the trunk of the tree, greeting her with a shy 'hi'
Neytiri is having a panic attack
she barely registers her own voice responding to you
Neytiri will look confused for this whole encounter
these feelings are very new to her
she kind of studies you a little, looking you up and down, eyes tracing over the intricate beading of your fkxile
I feel like in the end Neytiri would admit to herself that she was in love
it was the only explanation for how she felt
she wouldn't be outright flirting but lets be so astronomically fr
Neytiri is oozing rizz she just doesn't know it
Neteyam
Neteyam is like his mom
I know exactly how you guys would meet.
he would have minor injuries from a hunt gone sideways or something of the sort
and he goes back to the stronghold, looking for kiri- she was usually the one to tend to his wounds
a little sibling bonding moment
only kiri is busy helping someone else who is far worse for wear than Neteyam
so he goes to his grandmother...who is also busy
but she quickly calls someone over
its a name Neteyam doesn't recognize
and then you walk in
if the color could drain out of his face...it would
you were absolutely breathtaking
and immediately he felt like he was gonna puke
pretty people make him nervous
because of his nerves he'd be very short
I feel like at first you'd think he just didn't like you, or would rather be helped by someone else
but oh well, you were healing him and he'd have get over it
every time you touch him Neteyam gets even more rigid, eyes wide and staring at the same place in the hut
his mind is also going a mile a minute because holy fuck you're beautiful, you're touching him, you're talking to him, and he is absolutely bombing rn
it isn't until you hit him with a line confirming his thoughts
"I know im probably not the first person you'd choose to tend to your wounds, but bare with me I am almost done."
hes blushing fr fr
"NO. no. im just a little tired. we have not met before, I am Neteyam"
you smile up at him
its the start of a beautiful relationship
Kiri
BRO
KIRI IS SUCH A FLIRT
MAJOR RIZZ
KIRIZZ
I think you guys would probably meet in the forest
she was prancing around just admiring the beauty
you were doing something idk
picking flowers
washing things in the river
something cutesy
kiri would for sure initiate the conversation
and she is making direct, intense, eye contact the whole time
kiri's smile is reaching her eyes so beautifully it has you blushing
WAIT SHE'S ALSO A MAJOR TEASE TOO
LIKE YOU GUYS WOULD TALK FOR A LITTLE AND GET COMFORTABLE AROUND EACH OTHER AND SHE WOULD START FLIRTING BUT HER FLIRTING IS LIKE TEASING/MEAN FLIRTING
AND IT HAS YOU BLUSHING SO HARD BRO
I feel like kiri is also very touchy while she's flirting
in a respectful way
for example
you guys are talking and she'd run her hand along your arm
or reach out and 'fix' the beads around your neck
or or or
she'd push your hair behind your ear
SHE WOULD GRAB YOUR HAND TOO
LIKE YALL ARE TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING AND SHE WOULD JUST GRAB YOUR HAND AS A WAY OF PUNCTUATING HER SENTENCE YA KNOW
"we should weave baskets together!" *grabs your hand*
but yeah kiri has astronomical rizz and she knows it
you know it too
Lo'ak
Lo'ak is just like his dad
I mean
EXACTLY
LIKE
JAKE
its almost as if Jake wrote a book, titled Sully Rizz, and Lo'ak has read and annotated that book cover to cover
you guys would meet after he just got yelled at by his dad
cliche I know but... its Lo'money you know how it is
and his dad would've been upset with him for wandering off and going into the 'dangerous' parts of the forest without telling anybody
basically Lo'ak was just going places he wasn't supposed and not letting people know in case of emergency
he'd be grumbling and mumbling to himself about how this is 'so unfair' or 'so not cool'
aND BAM
he's walked into someone
and he is quite literally about to beat this person's ass, he is just so frustrated and mad
then he sees you
hs never seen you before
but suddenly his anger is melting away???
he can feel himself calming down???
he's never felt like this with anyone before, and all you were doing was looking up at him
he did open and close his mouth a couple times like a fish before regaining his composure...kinda
"oh, oH, no no, my fault."
he'd smirk
rizz turned on to 100
HE HAS A 'SMOLDER' FACE TOO
he's using it on you 100%
on the inside he is absolutely screaming and giggling and so excited to tell Spider and Neteyam about you
on the outside he is suave, flirty, charming...but almost a little too much
he's overdoing the flirting just a little, and he can tell because you're looking at him like 🤨
and then he'd exhale, his puffed chest would go down, and he'd smile sheepishly
"we should go talk somewhere...if-if you're not busy."
he got in trouble again for being out late
but honestly??? he couldn't find it in him to care, not when he's holding the pretty rock you found for him.
Tsireya
alright y'all
the way of water????? nah. the way of rizz
the charm just flows in, out, and around Tsireya like water
but immediately it would all be gone
dried
poofed
upon seeing you
she would be a blushing, giggling mess
at first she would be shy too, but then once she opened up a little in convo she'd have a habit of rambling
hi I love her so much???
I was gonna say y'all would meet when the Sully's came to Awa'atlu but we've already been there and seen that story line with Lo'ak and her in the movie
I think you guys would meet when she is working as a healer with her mom
it was after a hunt, everyone came back and you had a few cuts and scratches that were a little too deep to just ignore and go to bed
so you go into the healers tent, hoping someone would be able to help you and it is Ronal who has you sit on a mat and tells you to wait she'll bring over an 'apprentice'
the apprentice is Tsireya, Tsireya is the apprentice
she walks up to you, bowl of healing stuff in hand, and looks up just as she reaches the mat to meet your eyes
she nearly drops the bowl, it fumbles around a little in her hands before she gets control of it again
she's blushing
you are confused
introductions would be very short and she would have a ver difficult time making eye contact, like you'd meet her eyes and shed blush harder and look away
wAIT YOU GUYS WOULD HAVE THOSE MOMENTS WHERE LIKE SHES LOOKING CLOSELY AT WHAT UR DOING AND UR LOOKING TOO AND THEN YOU BOTH LOOK UP AND UR FACES ARE REALLY CLOSE
AH
anyway
I think after some small talk-initiated by you- she would open up a fair amount
the rizz is slowly coming back
she's making more eye contact
its ur turn to blush now
you guys end up spending a little too long talking and laughing together on the mat
she had finished dressing your cuts and scratches a long time ago, half the time she was just reapplying things to get you to stay longer
Ao'nung
bro doesn't have rizz
bro is just a little mean and calls it rizz
but it works!
for him I think you'd meet because you come in with the Sully family
you can decide if ur a sibling or a close friend they needed to bring along
in my personal opinion, I think Ao'nung would see you, be like what the fuck??? why do I feel like I can't breathe??? and then it would immediately switch to nah fuck them I don't like them
the first time you meet he'd be mad at you?
and you just thought it was because he didn't want you guys there
which was fair you guessed, but also??? that's fucked up fr
so you'd be the one to try and get close try and get closets him
always being partnered up for exercises
talking to him when you see him in the village
and Ao'nung is like??? what is this🤨
but he will warm up to you, comically fast
it's almost overnight
and suddenly its rizz galore
he's teasing you
very flirty
VERY TOUCHY ALSO
ALWAYS HAS A HAND ON YOUR ARM, WAIST, HIPS, WHATEVER
you can always feel him
Ao'nung kinda slays lowkey
I don't think he'd ever go through an awkward stage during this time tho
like he's showing you what he's feeling, he isn't hiding shit
Ao'nung W fr
I love this guy

༺♡༻
The sky people had a story.
A way of telling people their dreams and goals were too big, too lofty, too far out of reach.
Jake Sully had become so familiar with the phrase, 'careful not to fly too close to the sun' it might as well have been etched over his heart.
But Jake Sully...was no Icarus.
It would become more apparent, as he watched his first born son convulse in short breaths as he bled out on a rock in an ocean far away from their home- Jake was never Icarus in this story.
Neteyam was.
"I saw you last night."
Your hands froze above the different healing ointments you were organizing. You respond with a meek hum.
"You didn't believe me." Your mother says matter of factly.
The comment had your head spinning with confusion.
"I don't-"
Ronal shook her head, smirking at her daughter, "I was young once too. Your hair is tangled when you wake up, rushing to get through dinners...that look in your eye."
Your heart hammered against your chest. Has she really figured you out? And was she really being this understanding about your love for Toruk Makto's son?
"I told you, you'd grow to be fond of Txonu." She smiled, hand coming up to brush against your cheek lovingly.
The cool breath of reality nipped at your heels.
Your mother knew nothing.
Water swayed around Neteyam, Tsireya, Kiri, Ao'nung, and you as you all watched Lo'ak sign to Payakan, the killer tulkun.
Neteyam felt his heart in his knees as he watched Lo'ak swim into Payakan's open mouth before it snapped shut.
Tsireya put a hand in front of him, stopping him from doing anything brash. His tense shoulders relaxing as he felt your fingers brush against his thigh on the way to grabbing his hand.
It was difficult keeping away from each other during the day and in the village. The two of you were bolder when with Tsireya or Kiri, there seemed to be an unspoken understanding of the feelings between you and Neteyam- Lo'ak was far too busy thinking about Tsireya to really worry himself with what his brother was getting himself into, and the gestures between you and Neteyam were so small Ao'nung never suspected anything.
Truthfully, you grabbed Neteyam's hand not just to comfort him but as a way to ground yourself as well. You had a history with Payakan, and you weren't sure if the infamous tulkun would appreciate your presence. You were a child then- reckless and eager to prove yourself as a strong warrior, it was in the past.
It was against your wishes that you had ended up where you are right now, rushing into your family's marui in search of your father and mother. Tsireya and Lo'ak insisted that they were to tell Tonowari the truth about Payakan, to save his reputation. Only you knew better, the simple fact that Lo'ak had bonded with the outcast would cloud his judgment completely- but your sister's pleading eyes gave you hope that perhaps you were wrong.
"You allowed him to bond with the outcast?" Your mother asked with disbelief, making you wish Eywa would shrink you down into a clump of algae.
Like a cold wind, you didn't need to see your father's face to know he was now looking your way, "You disappoint me daughter."
The emotion rang through his words, true and unyielding, making your tears pool in your eyes as you kept your stare on the woven floor.
"And you," Your father's eyes moved onto Lo'ak, the grip his gaze had around your throat loosening and allowing you to take a shaky breath. "Son of a great warrior, who has been taught better."
You could hear your father inhale through his nose before speaking again, "Sit."
Shifting your eyes, you watch as Lo'ak lowers himself to a kneeling position.
"Sit down!" Tonowari boomed, making everyone, apart from a disappointed Ronal, jump and immediately fall to the floor in compliance.
Neteyam looked over to you, barely lifting his head to do so. He watched the way your hands shook and your fangs worried your bottom lip. He had never seen you so small, so scared, like a child that has been scolded- he wished to pull you into his arms and cradle your tear stained face to his chest, protect you from your father's harsh tone, but unlike Lo'ak, Neteyam knew his place.
"Hear my words boy. In the days of the first songs, tulkun..." Tonowari began to explain the story of the tulkun's and Payakan's rebellion.
Too scared to fidget, you remained still as you lost yourself in worry for the scolding that was to come your way after Lo'ak was handled. As the oldest you were looked at for guidance and safety,, today you had failed in delivering either allowing for guilt to force its way into your lungs. It had been years since you had last been reprimanded for something so serious.
"I'm sorry, sir, but you're wrong."
Your eyes widened at Lo'ak's statement, trying to wordlessly warn him to back down from a fight he was not going to win- you would know.
Neytiri hissed her youngest son's name, making you take your eyes off of him and look back toward the floor. The situation was getting worse, like awaiting an explosion, you wished you could shield yourself from the danger.
Finally, Jake stepped in and pulled Lo'ak up by his arm roughly. You watched, worried for the boy before your eyes found Neteyam's. Before you could share any look of worry or regret, it was your turn to feel the rough grip of a father's stern hand.
"You." Your eyes welled with tears again, from the pain in your bicep and the way your father spoke down to you.
Neteyam had to stop himself from intervening, ripping you from Tonowari's bruising grip and baring his fangs at your father. Jake noticed the way his eldest son's body jolted at the sight of you being handled so roughly, he tried to give him a pointed look, hoping he'd feel his gaze and realize it was time to leave. Unfortunately, everyone had come to a stand still except for you and Tonowari.
"I thought we were done with your reckless behavior. I thought you had matured." He hissed in warning.
"Dad-" You tried to plead your case, getting cut off almost instantly.
"No!" Tonowari growled, "You are a child. Ignorant and mindless. How could you allow something like this?"
The question was rhetorical, you knew better than to answer.
"I thought you had learned your lesson the first time you went looking for Payakan. You are no warrior, and no sibling to Ao'nung and Tsireya, putting them in danger like that. I pray to Eywa so that she may cure you of your insolence."
With a rough shove, Tonowari let go of your arm making you stumble.
"I'm sorry, sir." You muttered, fighting a sob clawing its way up your throat.
Jake had decided that that was enough, leaning over he pulled Neteyam out the door and away from your marui.
That night Neteyam stayed awake, waiting, listening for your call. Hoping you'd run to him, beg him to hold you and banish your worries. But he knew it was futile, turning over and away from the light Neteyam let his eyes rest and heartache. That was the first night, in what seemed like a lifetime to him, you hadn't come calling for him.
༺♡༻
It had been two eclipses since Neteyam had spent a night with you, he rarely saw you in the village during the day and when he did your eyes seemed glazed over, empty- he hated it.
He had decided that if he were not to see you tonight, feel your skin, breathe you in, that he would perish. So, Neteyam waited until his family was sound asleep before sneaking out of his marui and making the short walk to yours.
You haven't been able to sleep for the past couple nights. Tossing and turning until inevitably giving in to your restlessness and forcing yourself to sit up and thread jewelry.
The numbness that came from beading necklaces would help take your mind off of the searing pain you felt in the innermost depths of your soul. It was like your body was going through withdrawals, yearning, pleading, calling out for Neteyam. You often questioned why Eywa would make you feel this way over a boy who you are not meant to have.
But those moments, filled with questioning and swallowed sobs, were insurmountably better than the silence. When everyone would first fall asleep, apart from you, and an empty silence would fall over the marui, that was when you'd convince yourself you could hear Neteyam's laugh in the breeze rolling off the shore- it was during the silent moments that you felt Eywa had turned her back on you.
As you lay on your woven sleeping mat now, you feel that familiar silence settle. The breeze picks up, tonight instead of his laugh, it tricks you into thinking you could feel him, just as you had felt him the first time you had met, his presence wrapping around your arms and legs, caressing the tips of your ears and trailing down your spine. The wind was so convincing, for a moment you let yourself believe that Neteyam was there beside you.
Your mind was truly cruel, you thought, as you started to hear what sounded like the call you'd do to let Neteyam know you were there. Maybe tonight you'll sleep well, your delusions lulling you into a peaceful slumber. Perhaps you could do this for the rest of your life, as Txonu lay next to you, you'd lie to yourself, close your eyes and see Neteyam there instead. Neteyam. Neteyam. Neteyam.
You peaked an eye open, the sound had yet to cease and it was getting louder.
Neteyam, real Neteyam, was here- and he was going to wake your entire family if you didn't stop him.
"What are you doing?" You whispered incredulously as you rushed out of your marui.
Neteyam's bright grin could've rivaled the sun.
"I had to see you." He explained, as if it were simple.
You shook your head, wrapping your arms around yourself, fumbling "We can't- I can't-"
"Have you felt it too?" Neteyam cut you off with a somber tone.
You knew what he was talking about, how could you not, but you didn't want to admit it.
"Felt what?"
Neteyam took a breath before swimming closer to the ledge where you were standing and pulling himself up and out of the water. He stood next to you, water trailing down his lean body and dripping off of his braids.
"Can you feel yourself wanting to reach out to me? Wanting me. Like you've been suffocating slowly, only being able to take a full breath when I am here."
Subconsciously, you inhaled, Neteyam catching the rise of your chest making him smirk.
You shook your head again, moving away from him, trying to get as much distance between your bodies because it felt like you might implode if you didn't.
"I don't-"
"Then walk away." He challenged, voice low but never threatening.
You looked up at him with wide eyes, it was his turn to take a step back.
"Go ahead, turn around and walk back into your marui if that is truly what you want. I will understand."
The worst part is you knew he would. You knew he would never hold it against you if you left, if you turned your back and chose to leave him there, chose to leave him for Txonu.
Neteyam would understand, fortunately, however, he wouldn't have to.
Your skin erupted in goosebumps as you walked towards him, roughly pulling him down by his neck to push your lips into his. Neteyam wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you closer and reveling in the feeling of your skin against his, the rise and fall of your chest against his own.
You were the first to pull away, Neteyam following after you as if he were a lost traveler, your lips the beacon of light.
"Let's go."
That was all he needed to hear before grabbing your hand and entering the water, starting the swim to the cove.
Time seemed to crawl and flash by all at the same time as you laid on the sandy floor with Neteyam. His laugh tickled your ear, nose brushing against the delicate skin as you ran your lips across any skin of his that was available.
Truthfully, the two of you had only been there for about ten minutes, unable to keep your hands off of each other long enough to get a couple words in, but Neteyam had something on his mind.
"I want to ask you something."
You hummed, not pulling away from the crook of his neck.
"What happened between you and Payakan?"
Neteyam felt the way your body went rigid against him and he feared he may have made a mistake asking.
You pull yourself away from him, slowly you sit up but keep your eyes on your nervous fingers.
"I was young." You mumble
A large hand moves into your vision as it grabs both of your own gently, lovingly.
Neteyam speaks quietly, his eyes never leaving yours, "I want to know you, all of you."
Your heart felt heavy as you recalled the day.
"I was seventeen when I went looking for Payakan. I wanted to prove myself to the others training to be warriors, the boys of the clan, and to my father."
Neteyam was quiet as he listened to you work through the segments of the story, patiently he took in every detail you gave him.
"I had just bonded with my tsurak, but my father still didn't trust me. He said I was too angry, too stubborn, too much, and I was. I had so much anger in my heart, so much pride."
You played with Neteyam's fingers.
"I thought if I went after Payakan, killer tulkun, and was able to kill him then my father would see that I was a strong warrior. So, I took my tsurak and I went out of the reef to look for Payakan...an akula found me first."
Subconsciously, Neteyam gripped your hands tighter, thumb rubbing across your knuckles.
"It attacked me. No matter how fast I swam, how well I hid, the akula was faster, smarter, and stronger. But I was too proud to fear death, I sent my tsurak back, this was not his fight, and I planned to kill the akula but-"
Neteyam cut you off, "Payakan saved you. Didn't he."
You nodded, "Just like he saved Lo'ak. I was too hurt, lost too much blood from my wounds to swim back to the reef, it was Payakan that took me back...I've never seen my father so angry. He said I had embarrassed the family, ruined our reputation. He called me insolent and immature, and I was, Neteyam, I was immature and angry."
Tears welled behind your eyes making Neteyam reach out and cup your face, forcing you to look him in the eye.
"You are not anymore. You have grown." He tried to reassure you.
You shook your head, it was true you had grown, but you had not changed.
"No. Neteyam, I am a warrior, I need to fight. My feelings for you have only shown me that this violence still burns inside of me."
"Y/N-"
"I would kill for you, Neteyam." You muttered, inching closer to his lips.
Neteyam let out a small breath against your lips before reaching his hand around to grab the base of your neck from the back, holding you firmly in place.
"Say it again." He sighed, gaze falling from your eyes down to your lips as his remained parted.
"Neteyam-"
He pulled you closer, something you thought was impossible.
"Again."
You gasped, aching for the boy that sat so close to you yet still too far away.
"Neteyam...Neteyam...Neteyam...Nete-"
A frustrated growl interrupted you, before Neteyam pushed you into himself, his lips roughly meeting yours.
The kiss was passionate, searing with love and lust, his large hands staying on your neck and face as he held you to him messily. Your hands clawed at Neteyam's shoulders, trying to somehow meld your bodies into one and hope that would satisfy your need for him.
Neteyam was the first to pull away, boyishly pushing strands of your hair away from your face with his palms as he held his nose against yours, breathing you in.
"I see you, Y/N. All of you."
You let out a gasp, at his words and at the way he pulled you to sit onto his lap so effortlessly.
"I see you, my Neteyam. My mate."
Your words sent electricity up his spine, making his arms wrap around you tighter as he moved to lay his head on your chest, listening to the strong beat of your heart with your cheek resting against the top of his head.
"Tomorrow we go and ask our parents for their blessing. We will be mated the right way, before Eywa."
There was nothing you could do but nod excitedly, letting yourself believe in the positive what-if.
Neteyam raised his head to meet your eyes, a small smile playing on his lips as he took you in"
"My beautiful mate."
It was against better judgment that both you and Neteyam fell asleep, intertwined in each other's arms, ears back and tails locked. The sun peeked through the cave, warming the sand around your bodies intoxicatingly. You nuzzled your face into Neteyam's chest, his hand coming up to cradle you to his sternum. The moment was perfect...until it wasn't.
"Skxawng!"
Your eyes snapped open as you shot up, getting onto your knees ungracefully.
"Ao'nung! No, listen to me-"
Ao'nung shook his head cutting you off, "Ewya has turned her back on you!"
"Please, bro-"
"I am not your bro! You have brought shame to this family, I can't even look at you two." Ao'nung yelled, finger pointing strongly at you while he shoved Neteyam away.
"He is my mate! Brother, please, listen to us!" You pleaded, standing up shakily.
Ao'nung turned his head, closing his eyes as if it were too painful to look at you.
Your brother's voice became alarmingly calm, and alarmingly similar to your father's, "Pray to Eywa that father does not cut the heart out of your treacherous lover."
Tears started to obscure your vision, your legs moving at their own accord to follow your brother out of the cave as choked sobs fell past your lips.
Neteyam rushed after Ao'nung, feeling his own tears welling in his eyes.
"Please don't-"
Ao'nung called for his ilu, mounting it quickly and disappearing under the water.
Your hand came up to cover your mouth, realization settling deep in your bones. Neteyam spun around, ready to tell you to start swimming back but your shell shocked expression made his mouth go dry.
"What have I done?"
"No," Neteyam shook his head, walking to you and grabbing your face. "No, we have done nothing wrong. We are meant to be mates, we are not going to be punished for this."
You closed your eyes, "I never should have brought you here."
Suddenly, you were being pulled into Neteyam's chest in an almost painful embrace. He let out a shaky breath as he kissed the top of your head.
"I don't regret it, any of it. You are my world now." His voice was heavy with emotion, each word coming out broken.
There was nothing left to do but go back to the village and face everybody.
༺♡༻
"Father, please!" You begged, as you ran up to the small crowd that had formed in front of your family marui.
Txonu, your mother, father, and all of your siblings were standing there already, watching as you ran into the center of the group followed by Neteyam and his family.
The Sully's had been called by Tsireya, who insisted they hurry before something bad happens. Her wild eyes and trembling figure made them break into a sprint.
"Do not speak to me!" Your father boomed.
Txonu stepped toward you, grabbing your bicep harshly as he shook you, "Is it true?"
"Let her go, Txonu." Neteyam's voice made your nerves settle, yet Txonu's grip tightened before he pushed you away.
All of the Sully's, panting and confused about what was going on, couldn't find a moment to interject. Waiting to see if the issue would be revealed.
"You mated with this woman?" Txonu asked, voice shaking in anger.
Kiri was heard next, "Oh shit."
Txonu lunged toward Neteyam who successfully dodged him and unsheathed his tstal. Txonu does the same as the two circle around each other, crouched and hissing. Neteyam notices the way Txonu looks towards you, making him move to stand in front of you, hand reaching back to touch your arm as a way to ground himself.
"Is this true?" Your mother asked, expression a clear show of her disgust.
"No, we have not mated-" Neteyam answered truthfully, eyes still trained on Txonu but his posture straightened.
You felt anger override all your senses as you cut him off, moving to stand next to Neteyam, "But we will."
The gasps were loud, your mother's eyes widened as she looked at you and your boldness in disbelief.
Your voice came out alarmingly calm and confident.
"I have chosen Neteyam as my mate. I will have no one else."
Tonowari hissed before making an impulsive decision to charge toward Neteyam, only to be confronted by Jake.
"Step away from my son." He demanded threateningly.
Tonowari grunted, "Your son has brought shame to his family, and now mine. He's lucky I don't pluck his eyes out and cut off his tongue!"
"I see him." You admitted.
Your mother now hissed at you, grabbing you by your hair and pulling you away from Neteyam whose side you had tucked yourself into.
Everyone stood on edge as they watched your mother drag you to the other side of marui by a handful of your hair and the base of your braid.
Lo'ak and Kiri rushed to hold Neteyam back, the intense fire burning behind his crazy eyes made it very clear that he was not one for diplomacy now.
"As tsahik I forbid this union! I forbid any relation between you and the Sully's."
You tried to hiss at her, the sound coming out hoarse and weak because of the pain you felt.
"Txonu, bind her. She will stay in this marui for as long as it takes for her to learn what is expected of her."
Upon hearing this, Neteyam struggled harder against his sibling's hold as he yelled, "Don't touch her!"
"Neteyam." His mother spoke.
He turned to her with an incredulous look, not believing how bad everything had turned.
"You have done enough. We go now."
Jake was next to speak, "Neytiri-"
"Now!"
Lo'ak and Kiri pushed Neteyam out of the marui, who was still trying to plead with his mother, with anybody that would listen really, to get them to see that he was completely, and irrevocably in love with you.
Txonu bound your wrists behind you and around a weight bearing pole of the marui. Your attempts to kick at his shins and escape his grip was futile.
It felt as though your heart plummeted to the depths of your intestines, the large muscle beating erratically making you nauseous. You did the only thing you could do as you sat, legs pulled up to your chin, you wailed. You wailed and sobbed, blubbering and choking on the tears that fell from your eyes. It felt as if someone had torn your heart in half.
Ao'nung watched as your body trembled, it felt wrong to see you so overcome by emotion. The rage he had felt upon seeing you, his perfect older sister, wrapped in the arms of the forest boy subsided only to be replaced by intense guilt.
"Father, maybe-"
Tonowari put a hand to his sons shoulder, "I am proud of you for looking out for this family, Ao'nung."
With that Ronal, Tonowari, and Txonu exited the marui, leaving Ao'nung and you, or what was left of you, in the silence.
Your brother started to walk toward you, crouching down to your level as he spoke- you refused to meet his eyes.
"Tsmuke-"
Sister.
The word made your skin crawl. No brother would bring this sort of pain upon their sister.
"I am not your sister."
It was clear in your tone that you had meant what you said and it made Ao'nung's nerves go cold.
He made a sound, as if he could try to talk his way out of this, talk his way into you forgiving him.
"Go. Now." Your voice was venomous as you finally met his eyes.
Silently, your brother stood up and walked out, meeting a teary eyed Tsireya by the doorway of the marui. Tsireya watched you turn away from both of them, making her tears run faster down her cheeks as Ao'nung pulled her into his side and forced her to walk away.
In the heavy silence that settled around you, it was clear all that you had lost.
༺♡༻
You had spent the rest of the day alone in the marui. Your tears have dried and breath steadied, but your heart still aches.
The silence nearly lulled your pounding head to sleep, that is until your parents ran into the marui in a panic.
Your father grabbed his spear, your mother going for hers as well.
"Perhaps you should stay." He suggested, hand resting against your mother's stomach.
"I ride." Her voice was determined, making a chill run down your spine.
"What is happening?" You asked, getting their attention.
Your father was the one to answer, "Sky people. They are killing tulkuns, our soul brothers and sisters-"
"Roa, and her calf!" Your mother growled.
"Untie me, I fight with you." You seethed, pulling on your rope restraints.
Ronal stepped toward you, hopefully in an attempt to untie you.
Unfortunately, Tonowari's voice made her stop in her tracks.
"Leave her. She's done enough."
Your mother looked at you, almost apologetically before turning to your father with a grunt. The two of them ran out of the marui together as you yelled after them.
Frustrated, you let out a scream before fighting against the rope that bound you, praying to Eywa you'd be able to loosen it and free yourself.
You thrashed around for an unknown amount of time, but to no avail. It even seemed the rope had gotten tighter around your wrists.
Eclipse was near and you had half a mind to give up, that is until you heard heavy footsteps coming your way.
Ao'nung stumbled into the marui, splattered with crimson blood. His face was void of all emotion apart from shock, death could be seen still reflecting in his irises.
Your heart dropped, all anger toward your brother diminishing as you remembered- he's just a boy.
"Ao'nung-"
He cut you off, pulling out his hunting knife, "Forgive me."
Your eyes went wide, watching as he lunged toward you and brought the blade down, cutting into your restraints and setting you free.
"They have Tsireya." He trembled.
Wordlessly, you put a palm up to his face before turning on your heels and grabbing your own spear.
You ran out of the marui, calling for your battle companion, your tsurak.
The ride to the sky people ship was hardly memorable, the only thing on your mind being getting to where you needed to go- until you saw Tsireya and Tuk swimming frantically in front of you.
"Sully's stick together!" The little one exclaimed, trying to swim back toward the ship.
"Tuk! Tsireya!" You called, moving to sit on the saddle of the tsurak.
Tsireya opened her mouth to speak but barely got a syllable out before Tuk interrupted her.
"Lo'ak and Neteyam are still on the ship. We have to help them."
Your heartbeat quickened at the mention of Neteyam being in danger.
"Tsireya, take Tuk back to the village. I'll go."
Your sister nodded, grabbing an arguing Tuk.
"Come on, Tuk. Y/N will save them." Tsireya tried to calm the little girl.
In an effort to avoid wasting time, you dove underwater with your tsurak and started moving closer to the ship, hoping Tsireya and Tuk made it back to the village in one piece.
What you didn't account for was how persuasive the little forest girl could be, and you failed to notice both of them swimming back toward the ship they had just escaped from.
You prayed to Eywa, asking her to grant you the knowledge of where your mate was. Without hesitation you followed your gut.
Neteyam and Lo'ak hid up in the pipes and framing of the ship, trying to find the right moment to drop down and attack the avatars walking around just a few feet below them- only that time didn't come.
Upon hearing the screech of a tsurak, both brother's snapped their heads toward the edge of the ship where they saw the impressive animal emerge from the water.
If the moment had been any lighter, Neteyam would've paid more attention to the way his knees nearly gave out at the sight of you crouched on the back of the tsurak, spear in hand, before pushing yourself off and jumping on to the boat.
Immediately, you took out the majority of the avatars.
"Bro..." Lo'ak's voice faded as he was at a loss for words.
Neteyam watched as you skillfully took out grown, avatar men, bigger and stronger than you. Your grace and agility while fighting could rival his mother's, and the look or raw, primal anger in your eyes made him gulp.
This was who everyone was talking about when they called you a mighty warrior.
"Come on, let's help her." Lo'ak spoke, giving his brother a gentle shove.
Neteyam nodded before jumping down from his hiding spot along with his brother,  joining the fight.
From the corner of your eye you saw Neteyam and Lo'ak, internally thanking Eywa that they were both alright.
Removing his knife from the chest of the last avatar, Neteyam looked toward you briefly before straightening his back and striding over to you, pulling you in for a kiss.
Passion ran from his body to yours, along with salty tears, blood, and everything in between. Teeth nipped at lips and clashed loudly, making Lo'ak grow increasingly uncomfortable and impatient.
"Bro! Ok, ok!" He shouted, getting you two to pull apart.
You look toward Lo'ak sheepishly before noticing movement behind a corner that was blocked from your view. Suddenly, a human boy, painted in blue war painted popped out, speaking Na'vi.
Pushing Neteyam behind you, you hissed at the human and unsheathed your dagger.
"Woah! Woah! He's cool!" Lo'ak explained, pushing your knife down.
"Y/N, this is Spider. Human boy who grew up with us in the forest." Neteyam explained, putting a hand around your waist.
You nodded, contemplating momentarily before bringing your hand up to your forehead, greeting the boy traditionally.
He returned the gesture, a pink tint painting his cheeks making you smile softly.
"Ok, that was very sweet. But we really need to get going." Lo'ak spoke, pushing his way through the group to the front.
All of you nodded in agreement, following Spider and Lo'ak through the metal maze. Neteyam held onto your hand firmly as you weaved through different areas, trying to remain unnoticed by any more avatars or humans.
You all were almost successful, until you had reached the opening that Spider referred to as a 'moon pool'.
Shots rang through your ears, coming from both the avatars and Lo'ak.
"Come on, let's go." Neteyam grunted, gesturing toward the water.
Lo'ak and Spider dove in first.
Your heartbeat picked up its pace as you got ready to quickly make your exit with Neteyam. What you weren't expecting was Neteyam to pull you into his body, shielding you from the direction of the oncoming bullets before you both dove into the water.
All four of you came up for air, meeting Tsireya and her ilu. You let out a breath as you counted everyone around you, no one was missing.
But it was far too early to celebrate.
"I'm shot."
Your head whipped toward Neteyam who was clutching his chest, eyebrows furrowed in anguish.
Quickly, you swam over to him, watching as the surrounding water turned crimson.
Pushing your palm onto the wound, you called for your tsurak. As it appeared you mounted it, turning to Lo'ak and grabbing his hand to place it where yours had been.
"Keep pressure."
Lo'ak nodded, holding his brother against his chest.
Everyone managed to hold on to something just as you commanded your tsurak to move. He swam quicker than any ilu, yet it still seemed far too slow for your liking.
Finally, you five reached a large rock closer to the village after spotting Jake's figure.
"Dad! Neteyam's hurt!" Lo'ak called out as you helped him and Spider haul Neteyam's body up onto the rock and out of the water.
You applied pressure to the entry wound as Jake flipped his son back over after checking to see if there was an exit wound to accompany-there was.
"Y/N..." Neteyam sputtered, his voice fading as he reached out to you.
Without thinking you gripped his hand, holding it to your chest as a lump formed in your throat.
At this point, you could do nothing but beg, "Neteyam, please."
He coughed, grimacing as the action brought his body more pain.
You subconsciously registered Neytiri landing her Iran somewhere nearby, her presence immediately felt next to you as she spoke to her son.
Before you could stop yourself you turned to look at Jake- this was a bad idea. His features held the heaviness of acceptance.
He was already grieving a son he had yet to lose and it angered you.
"Give me a piece of cloth, moss, anything. Now!" You demanded.
A ripping sound was heard behind you, one after another, before Lo'ak and Spider quickly placed wads of fabric in your hand- they had torn off the bottom halves of their loincloths.
You balled up the first piece.
"Grab onto his hand."
Jake did.
Silencing your weeping heart, you shoved the cloth into the wound on his chest, plugging it up and stopping the bleeding as best you could.
You asked someone to hold him up so you could get to the exit wound.
Neteyam felt himself slip in and out of consciousness as pain was the only thing flooding his senses. He let out a choked cry as you roughly pushed the torn cloth into his back.
"We need to get him on my tsurak. I'll take him to my mother, she is our only hope now."
You explained quickly, already standing up and calling to your companion.
Neytiri's wails rang in your ears, as you mounted your tsurak. Jake and Lo'ak carried a limp Neteyam over to you, laying his upper half across your lap and on your chest. Once secure, you signaled for Tsireya to join you.
Speeding back to the village, you didn't have time to worry about the last thing you heard being Jake's alarmingly calm voice asking Lo'ak where his sisters were.
The ride to the village was fast, faster than you had ever traveled, and you were grateful for the current being in your favor. Neteyam was still blinking, although drastically slower than earlier.
Your parents met you at the front of the village, their rage toward you and your escape dying down as they watched you and your sister carry in the forest boy.
Tonowari was the first to react, quickly walking over and carrying most of Neteyam's weight.
"Take him to the healer’s marui." Your father commanded.
Ronal followed after her husband and children.
You three laid Neteyam down onto the woven mat carefully, Tonowari quickly turning to you and asking where Jake was only to get a short answer.
He and Tsireya both exited the cramped area, presumably to either get out of the way or help the Sully's.
Tears streamed down your face as you held onto Neteyam's hand- his hand that was slowly getting colder and colder.
You turned to your mother, you had not moved from her spot near her medicinal herbs and tools.
"Save him!" You begged shamelessly.
She clenched her jaw, "His wounds are beyond saving."
"Mother, please! Save him!" You pleaded in frustration.
Ronal growled, her expression stoic and colder than you had ever seen it.
"It is up to Ewya." She replied, making your thin resolve dissipate completely.
"You are Tsahìk! You must save him!" You screamed, voice booming through the marui as you stood up and walked closer to her.
Neteyam's shallow, rapid breaths coming from where he lay on the floor made your heart hammer.
You took a breath, reaching for and grabbing the bowl of your mother's medicinal supplies, thrusting them toward her as you lowered your voice perilously.
"Save him...and I will do as you say, I will choose Txonu as my mate...but only if Neteyam lives."
Your mother hissed out a groan before conceding and grabbing the bowl from you roughly and making her way towards Neteyam.
Only now Neteyam was making things difficult, pushing her hands away weakly and hissing, as best as he could, at the tsahik.
"No-"
Ronal huffed, "He does not want to be saved."
You nearly pulled your hair out as Neteyam mustered up enough strength to speak a single, breathless sentence.
"No, I'd rather...die as her mate," He took a breath to sputter and cough, "Then live to see her with another."
Unbeknownst to you, it seemed your mother's resolve was crumbling at the sight of Neteyam's dying yet love filled eyes.
"Go. I'll do what I can." Your mother rushed you out with a wave of her hand before placing a palm to the boy's heaving chest.
Somehow Neteyam could feel the comfort and peacefulness radiating off of the tsahik's hand.
You stumbled out of the marui hesitantly, not wanting to leave your lover's side, but you knew this moment was between your mother, Neteyam, and Eywa only. You let your anger take the place of the anxiety making you tremble, expression hardening as you reached for Neteyam's bow that had been dropped, or thrown you couldn't remember, near the entrance of the marui.
Slinging the Omaticaya weapon over your shoulder, you walked towards the water calling your tsurak.
You'll kill every last one of those demons.
༺♡༻
It was like your eyes were refocusing, blurry edges ironing out into clear detail.
The metallic taste of blood was very pronounced on your tastebuds, and seeing as it was the blood of an enemy- it was welcome.
You squinted in the fresh sunlight, your muscles begging for any sort of reprise as you were mounted on your tsurak in a deep lunge trying to make it back to the village as quickly as you could hoping your urgency would not be futile, praying that you would not get back so quickly only to bury the man you love.
The sand was trammelled under your feet as you ran toward the tsahik's healing marui, your heart nearly beating out of your chest. You skid to a halt, nearly knocking into your father and Ao'nung outside of the hut, deep in a hushed conversation, a soft smile playing on both of their lips.
"Is he...?" Your voice got quiet as you tried to control your breathing.
Ao'nung smiled sadly at you, walking over and placing his palm against your bicep as he spoke, "He's been asking for you."
You let out a sigh of relief.
The sun felt warm again, the wind returned, and the waves rolled gallantly, beating against the shore once more. Neteyam was alive.
Tonowari watched the emotions play out on your face, the relief, elation, realization, and finally an expression he could only describe as mourning. Not for Neteyam, but for yourself.
Neteyam was saved by your mother, and now you must keep your word. You were to mate with Txonu, and that was final.
"I should go." Shaking your head, you turned to leave only to be stopped by your brother grabbing onto your wrist.
"He's been asking for you all morning. You have to see him." Ao'nung stated.
Your eyes turned glossy yet again, "It would be easier if I didn't. I can't see him now that I am to be mated with Txonu."
Tonowari stepped toward you, jaw moving in preparation to speak before another voice beat him to it.
"Y/N."
It was your mother.
You waited to see if she'd say anything else, she did.
"I know you're there, ma’ite. Come in."
Not wanting to upset her after all she had done for you, you hastily made your way into the marui coming to a sudden halt upon seeing your mother, Tsireya, Neteyam, and Neteyam's parents along with his siblings all looking at you with the same unrecognizable look in their eyes.
Neteyam was the first to speak ,worry coating his tone, "You're hurt."
You shook your head quickly not wanting to worry him, and actively willing yourself not to run to him.
"It is not my blood. What is going on, everyone is looking at me funny?" You asked, eyes wide with suspicion.
Your mother spoke next, "Eywa has decided to save the boy...and has expressed her will to me while doing so."
Ronal walked towards Jake and Neytiri, standing alongside their family with Tsireya.
"You, ma'ite and Neteyam are to be mates, it is the will of the Great Mother, she has shown me this."
She smiled at your growing smile.
"That is, if you two still want to be together." Jake joked from next to her making Neytiri giggle and smile warmly at you, her soon to be daughter in law.
"Ma'tìyawn-"
Neteyam failed to get another word out before you rushed over to his side and cradled his face, pushing your lips onto his. You were incredibly aware of his fragile state, but you truly believed if you did not bask in the feeling of his lips against yours, the feeling of his smile forming, you would simply perish.
You pulled away, remembering where you were and who was watching. Suddenly, a question pops into the forefront of your mind.
"What about Txonu?" You asked no one in particular.
Lo'ak snorted, his red eyes and dried tear streaks are a stark contrast from the lighthearted emotions he was showing now.
"Don't worry, sis. We'll deal with Txonu."

Y'all...
im mid way through writing part two of Save Him, ive had to do some school work so its taking a little longer than expected BUT I wanted to give you guys a little unofficial teaser because I think this part slays and I have to show you guys
I love greek mythology 🤠🤠
Save Him Part Two unofficial teaser (but also idk if im gonna keep this in, tell me your thoughts slayers)
The sky people had a story.
A way of telling people their dreams and goals were too big, too lofty, too far out of reach.
Jake Sully had become so familiar with the phrase, 'careful not to fly too close to the sun' it might as well have been etched across his chest.
But Jake Sully...was no Icarus.
It would become more apparent, as he watched his first born son convulse in short breaths as he bled out on a rock in an ocean far away from their home- Jake was never Icarus in this story.
Neteyam was.
And all things that fly must come back down.
