Hi my lovely I’m so sorry I didn’t get round to doing the story. All my plans and layouts are still saved. I have everything there ready to go but I’m not sure when I’ll start writing again. I do miss it but at the moment I’m going through a meh phase of my life where I enjoy reading fanfic more. Weirdly s6 put a downer on my writing, I was expecting it to inspire me but it did the opposite 😔 hopefully one day I’ll be back, I have been thinking about doing one shots so therefore I’m still publishing but not devoting myself to a book I may not complete.

I'm not really in the same corner of the fandom as you, but it's such an absolute breach of manners and etiquette to share someone's fic publicly in another forum with the sole purpose to have it mocked by hateful people whose appreciation never lied with a meaningful engagement with the show in the first place. Wanting to write a fic that explores why Lizzie might have decided to stay with the Shelbys after the horrific trauma she endured at the Derby is fair and, really, why not have it be tied to Tommy apologizing? He canonically likes her, whether or not you want to frame it romantically (i disagree on that front, sadly), it's still a fact that he likes her and sees her as an important, valuable member of the company and, ultimately, of the family as well. And beyond all that: it's fanfiction; it's what you want to explore for yourself and then decide to share with like-minded readers. Steven Knight is writing his own story and as it is with most, many interpretations are possible: never let yourself be tricked into believing that one singular reading is absolute and true.

I did delete my first post because I always tell myself I’ve overreacted but looking back I don’t think I was. I still think it’s weird someone who hates Lizzie took the time to go through my work to spread hate about it elsewhere when they could have just gotten on with their lives not aware of my stories 😂 it’s very clear from my tags and summaries that the one shots are TommyxLizzie based so if they hate Lizzie why click 😂

I find it funny now but it was still really weird. The show is fictional, the characters fictional so I don’t understand why so many get themselves into a twist over characters and ships. This person also said I was writing something that didn’t happen, that was false. Do they not understand how fanfiction works? There’s fanfiction where Grace doesn’t die or comes back from the dead but I’m not going to be shouting from my corner that it didn’t happen, that it’s fake. I’d look ridiculous 😂

Despite us all having different thoughts about Lizzie, Grace and Tommy I think mutual respect is needed. Debating is all part of the game but deliberately leaving hate and calling someone names just isn’t it especially when the majority of us are adults.

Lizzie is a hypocrite. She got mad at Tommy for fucking Diana but she gave him permission to fuck other women as long as it's not in the house or within a day of holding Ruby's hand. Fickle little bitch

Diana was the enemy, she wasn’t just some random woman. While I do think Lizzie giving Tommy permission to sleep with prostitutes isn’t a good thing (it definitely didn’t sit right with me), the situation with Diana was completely different. Adding Ruby’s death on top of it and grieving parents it’s even more messy. Diana is the lowest of humans, Tommy shouldn’t have went near her. It makes my skin crawl when people cheer on Diana knowing who she was. I think any woman, any partner in Lizzie’s position would be furious too. You don’t have to be a Lizzie lover to see how wrong it was of Tommy.

Thank you my lovely I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m doing alright, I’m always happy to have constructive criticism when it comes to my writing but the fact a Lizzie hater read my one shots to crap on them on another page irritates me. It’s so petty and miserable to do. It’s fanfiction made from a fictional show, I don’t understand how someone can use their time so sadly.

I also love debates about characters if it’s no personal to their appearance but people are really taking it too far now. If a show couple is really interrupting their lives like this they need to take a step back for their own sanity and everyone else’s.

I’ve wrote TommyxLizzie one shots so as a Grace fan you would surely not read them unless you liked Lizzie too so why am I seeing a particular Grace stan who’s a known Lizzie hater on Reddit bitching about my fanfic. It’s fanfiction! It’s not real! It’s made up, imaginary for those who do ship Tommy and Lizzie. Not only are the bitching about the fanfic they’re also making stuff up about what’s in it and what’s the ending.

The one fic in particular takes place after Epsom day and I was exploring the idea of how lizzie comes back to work for Tommy. He doesn’t ‘beg’ for her to come back to work, it’s all about him saying sorry. He doesn’t love her in the fic but seeing her working as a prostitute again isn’t something he wants so he asks her to come back to work. In the story there is a small kiss, a friendly kiss. He isn’t professing his love or anything. In fact we see what we see in the show, Lizzie sadly in love with a man who doesn’t return it. I really shouldn’t have to explain and defend my fanfiction but here we are. I’m not a huge fan of Grace so you’re not going to see me reading tommyxgrace fanfic and I’m certainly not going to bitch about what people write in their fanfics. Is this the point we’re coming to in these ship wars? Just let people ship who they want or like who they want. No one should be leaving any hate on peoples fics or spreading hate about them.

If you hate Lizzie just don’t read my stuff and stop bitching on Reddit constantly man. No one is saying Lizzie is the love of Tommy’s life (because it’s not true) at least I haven’t seen anyone saying that. I’ve seen people say Tommy loves Lizzie but it’s not the same love as he had with Grace which is accurate really. I’ve always said that Tommy cares and grew to love Lizzie but it’s the love you have for a close family member they just happen to have sex sometimes 😂 The majority of us support Lizzie, not the relationship. This particular person constantly berates and attacks those who love Lizzie and it’s just tiring. They accuse everyone of making stuff up while doing the same. Like can we not put this beaten dead horse finally in the ground? It’s all fiction man I don’t understand the constant arguing 😭

Thoughts on Tommy & Lizzie in S6 (Part 1)

Following this post on S5, a kind anon asked for my thoughts on Tommy & Lizzie in S6, so here it goes!

I ended up having way more to say than I thought, so instead of going through every TommyLizzie scene individually, I’ll try to group them into a few different categories.

This post will contain tons of images, and spoilers for the entirety of Season 5 and Season 6!

To begin, I’d say that while I found S5 very rewarding Tommy/Lizzie wise, if I had to sum S6 in one word, I’d probably pick “bittersweet”.

I love your love for Lizzie, personally she's not my favourite but people love to bash female characters espcially ones who have relationships with men. Also the writers seem to do it too it's the one thing I hate about peaky blinders their treatment of the women characters they could be doing so much better.

I also so how you loved how tall Lizzie is and I love that. I'm the same height as lizzie and I hate to see her dragged for it. Like she can control her height? People just hate to see women taller than men don't they.

Thank you my lovely 🥰I’ve loved Lizzie since s1, ever since we saw that scene with her and Tommy (sorry John) ☺️ I couldn’t agree more with you, the peaky blinders women are overly hated. I understand people having dislike for characters it’s normal but with the women they seem to dislike them for silly reasons. The writers do not help, they give the women these big stories and personalities and seem to dim them down as the show goes on. Out of all the women I think there’s only really Ada who started off weak and became this incredibly strong character.

Both Lizzie and Grace ended up suffering from housewife syndrome. Both were strong and had good solid stories but then just became housewives. Although she’s not my favourite, Grace died too soon. They did a real poor job in s3 with Grace and I think more could have been done with her. Lizzie fell off for a little bit for me in s5, I still loved her but it wasn’t my favourite series of hers. In s6 she was flawless, the acting was flawless. A lot of haters complain about her crying all the time and being upset in s6 but her fear, her grief was perfectly executed for me. May was completely discarded bless her. The writers create these characters and then don’t really know what to do with them 😬

Lizzie’s height is everything! What a goddess 😍 I love that she’s the perfect height to kick anyone in the face. Haters do like to drag her for her height but that just shows how cruel and sad some people can be because tall women are beautiful, you’re beautiful ❤️ I’m a short woman and while I have no issues with it I would enjoy a few more inches 😋

I always say dislike whatever character you want but coming after someone’s appearance is gross because when you do it’s no longer the character you’re insulting but an actual person and let’s be honest people who do this look silly because the peaky women are all perfection appearance wise.

I've noticed in alot of Tommy Shelby fics I've read that alot of people write Lizzie as this jealous mean woman. Do people not like Lizzie and really see her that way? Or do they write her that way because they want someone to cause trouble in tommy and ofc/readers relationship? I'm okay with it every once and a while. But why can't more people write reader/ofc being friends with lizzie. Like being with tommy and having such a chaotic life ofc/reader could use a close friend that's in the life to confide in. Lizzie would be the perfect friend.
