Yeah I agree that since becoming King and Queen both Mary and Fred have somehow actually done less work than they used to. It’s weird lol

I mean Fred has never been a hard worker and while I love Mary she doesn’t do a ton of engagements compared to other consorts (and tbc the expectation is different) but it feels like they’ve mostly been on vacation lol. But maybe they are just taking time to settle in? By all accounts Daisy made this decision pretty abruptly so I’m sure it’s an adjustment. Everything moved so fast.

I do not get them continuing the she will be seen at Easter thing when they probably knew it was cancer in February. I did notice them then saying “no we meant when the kids are back from Easter break” when most people thought it meant proper Easter weekend.. which is next week but their new timeline gave them an extra month

Ok to be fair, they never said she would be seen at Easter. They said “after Easter” which could mean literally anytime after Easter including next year lol. In comms though you are always encouraged to be as non-specific specific as possible so maybe they could have said something to the effect of “early summer, depending on medical advice.” But they never said she would be back at Easter either in their statement or afaik in their briefing.

I do think they are now pulling the “she is working behind the scenes” card which is whatever. It wouldn’t surprise me if she does zoom calls or video messages and stuff after the kids are back in school. But it might all depend on how she is feeling. Chemo impacts everyone differently and we do not know (nor need to know) what sort of treatment she is undergoing or for how long.

For your first thought to be about PR instead of an ill woman is sickening! The comms team is lead by William and Kate and everything was done on THEIR terms

You must be new here because a big part of what I talk about for the royals overall is image, PR and communications. Yes, even with Harry and Meghan who I’ve been very critical of.

I am not going to beat my chest or wail over Kate being ill. I literally wrote I hope she recovers because cancer sucks, something I know very well. But she will get the very best care known to men (while many in the NHS languish) and her having cancer was not a shock to me. So 🤷🏽‍♀️

i feel like the full court press scolding everyone for speculation is a pysop bc they were annoyed that the plebs were getting too comfy making jokes and now they are trying to censor it.

Right. So I think people went overboard with the weird and gross domestic violence allegations or the “Kate is dead” stuff? Yeah. Especially because the DV stuff is not from a place of concern but from a place of wanting sensationalism which to me is an insult to survivors and victims.

I also think the people denying it was Kate in that video last week from the market are weirdos. At some point I was like please let the general population get bored with this already! I’m tired of genpop in royal watcher business lol.

But it’s clear they are mad in large part that they could not control the narrative anymore/the institution and heir were being dragged and it escaped the UK where they can exert massive levels of influence, as we’ve seen them do. No matter what anyone is now saying, faking a photo is not a small thing at all. They don’t get to hand wave accountability just because Kate is sick. We knew Kate was sick when they released that photo (many of us clocked it in January that it was cancer) and it doesn’t take away from the absurdity of it at all.

What a cruel thing to say! So whilst they were both processing the news and figuring out how to tell their children according to their age, you are saying they didn’t want privacy? Even though before this they’ve always been private.

After being very quiet in the Sundays for weeks beyond complaining off the record through sources, it’s a full court press from KP.

This was never really about privacy or even Kate. They just wanted to wrest back control because William and the Firm were being damaged too much by the speculation. People were remembering the history of this family with royal women a little too easily for the palace. And while I know this fandom has retconned that history, the general public has not.

I slept amazing last night actually, thanks 🥰 Because you know what I wouldn’t do to a person with cancer? Let them put out a fake photo that would get every major news agency in the world to put out KNs on and then hang her out to dry for a week and then do a pap stroll to make up for the blunder (a pap stroll which now has given people a perverse incentive to photograph her for a payday).

You know what would have avoided that? A quick, heavily managed video message with a trusted patronage to celebrate mom’s day.

I know Wales fans have a hard time understanding concepts beyond a first grade reading level but do try.
