Beaumont enjoyed the little time he had with his family more than anything. It was hard to say goodbye again, specially saying goodbye to his mother, knowing that she probably didn’t have much time, but they were both thankful for this last few days together.
As if she’d been waiting to see him again, Sophie passed shortly after Beaumont left. She never even knew that Saturday was pregnant again, and Saturday saw herself blowing the candles on her cake surrounded by two small children and a house that relied entirely on her to survive. A hard couple of months were to come. Thankfully, she had Winnifred’s and Athelstan’s help. Athelstan was currently staying home, as he’d been injured in war, and it was the second time that Saturday ever saw him, but it would not be the last. Althea would spend a lot of time playing with her cousins from then on, and Winnifred even offered to take care of little Benjamin if Saturday felt like she needed some time off. It was very soon that they became a very close-knit, happy family, and by the time Beaumont saw them again, daily visits to each other had become part of their lives.

Sophie spent the rest of her days really sad, playing and stroking her husbands piano all the time, but enjoying every minute she had left with her grandchildren. The duty to take care of the house and garden fell on Saturday, as Sophie was getting too old to perform such activities.
Then, on a hot summer day, Beaumont appeared at the front door. He had been writing, he said, but apparently his letters had never reached them. Saturday threw herself at him, thinking she had never been so relieved to see someone in her whole life. He hugged his mother and took the news on his father pretty hard, but the best of his visit was learning that he had a daughter, one that didn’t know him but still loved him very quickly. Not only that, but he got to celebrate her birthday with her, and that was all that he could have ever asked for.

Theodore passed away one night, as Sophie slept, before he got to know if Beaumont was safe or not. The next morning was a quiet one as Saturday, Sophie and Althea got ready for the funeral. In fact, many mornings would be quiet after that.
All of Theodore’s friends and family came to the funeral. Even some of his chidlhood friends, Mary and Lucy Abbott, were there. Elizabeth was especially heartbroken, so much so that she barely spoke to her own husband and children all day. It was Sophie who kept Ripley company through such a hard time. Their other brothers were younger, and they were still fighting the war when it happened, so it was only Ripley and Guinevere.
Althea was too young to understand what was happening. Her grandmother read her to sleep that night, and Saturday checked on her every few hours, to make sure she was okay, she said. Although it was probably because it was hard to get to sleep in her bed alone, knowing she would have to tell her husband the news when he got home.

With Beaumont gone, and Winnifred and Guinevere living together in town, Saturday became Sophie’s most frequent chess partner. The days were quiet, except when Theodore played piano and Sophie sang with him. They had spent the happiest of lives together, and they liked these moments more than any.
The only moments that were more joyous than singing about when they became each other’s soulmate, were the birth of their third granddaughter, Althea. Althea was visited by many people in her first days of life, including Saturday’s sisters, Guinevere, Winnifred and her daughters, who were growing up very quickly, but happy and healthy, and loved their grandparents more than anything.
As Althea grew older, it became obvious that she looked exactly like her mother, but she had her father’s eyes. This brought all of them joy as well as a strange sense of nostalgia, since they hadn’t seen Beaumont in so long and had had no news of him for some time now.

Beaumont had to go leave and go to war soon, and he decided that he would not miss the chance to marry Saturday first. They got married on his birthday, and both their families came to celebrate with them. It was a beautiful ceremony, however small. Then, a few days later, he had to go, completely unaware that he’d left his new wife pregnant, but still longing to see her and his family again soon.

Beaumont was stronger than Guinevere. That’s what she thought, at least. He did not care what people would say of him, and he had no trouble walking with Saturday in public. If someone ever said anything to them, nobody ever found out.
Soon enough, Beaumont proposed to Saturday. It was around the same time as Theodore’s birthday. Guinevere was ecstatic for him, maybe even living through him the story she wished she could have. She had gotten used to doing that. That is why, when the time to spend Christmas at Winnifred’s house came, she was not expecting what she heard.
Winnifred and Athelstan, who was on leave at the moment to spend Christmas with his family, had figured out why neither her aunt nor his sister wanted to marry. Winnie, in fact, told Guinevere she had noticed a long time ago that there was something going on with Ethelwyne, but did not want to make her uncomfortable by asking and was hoping that she would tell her herself. However, as time passed, she made a decission: Guinevere and Ethelwyne were officially invited to move in with them. As part of both hers and her husband’s family, nobody would ever question that they were just helping her bring up the kids, and no one would ever have to know that they even shared a room. Winnifred wanted her best friend to be happy, and contrary to what Ginny would have thought, she did not care that it was with a woman. Thanks to her, Ginny could finally see a future with the woman she loved, and she would be forever greatful.

Guinevere had been spending her days learning piano. Knowing she could never have what her niece had, she did not hold any plans to leave the home she had grown up in. It was impossible to say it didn’t sting, however, seeing everybody go public with their relationships.
Isaiah proposed to Rosemary, and they got married shortly before he had to part to war. Athelstan and Winnifred had two beautiful baby girls they names Daisy and Irene. Beaumont, contrary to what everyone had predicted, met Sunday’s twin sister Saturday and it was her from then on the one that earned a spot in the family.
Out of everyone, Guinevere thought Beaumont would probably understand best, as his relationship was not the easiest either. She did not tell him, though. How could she? It was hard for him, she had no doubt, to be falling for someone who, in the eyes of society, would not be acceptable for him. But for her to be in love with a woman... What if Beaumont didn’t understand? What if he told and she couldn’t ever see Ethelwyne again? She could not risk it. So she spent her days playing music, visiting Winnie and the kids, and keeping Sophie company, as her daughter was no longer there to play chess with her.

For Beaumont’s birthday, Theodore and Guinevere performed a piece they had been practicing together, and Sophie gave him a painting.
Isaiah came to visit and the both of them visited a library in the next town over. However, Beaumont also invited his cousin Rosemary, and Isaiah seemed to forget about his friend as soon as he met her. Of course, no one was aware that Rosemary was also Isaiah’s niece, as the fact that Isaiah’s father was actually Beaumont’s grandfather was unknown to everybody. What would become of this?
Beaumont was happy for his friends, but found himself trying to pass time alone in this library he had never seen before. And that is how he met Sunday. She was studying in a chair near his, and even though he did not wish to interrupt, soon enough he found himself talking to her all afternoon.

Winnifred’s birthday came shortly after. She looked exactly like her mother. Like her, she could not manage to keep her hair in place for the life of her.
Athelstan came looking for her, and took her for a long walk in the rain. None of them really cared about it. They were completely infatuated with eachother, and would have walked a thousand nights if they had to. Then, at the end of the evening, Athelstan took her to one of the first places they had visited together, and not caring one bit about the wet, muddy ground, he bent the knee and proposed to her. Needless to say, she said yes.
Winnifred got married in her mother’s wedding dress, and she and Athelstan moved into a beautiful house in town, where sooner rather than later, Winnifred would become pregnant with her first child.

Guinevere’s birthday came sooner than she hoped. She was officially an adult. Edgar and Athelstan visited, and Winnifred left her alone with Edgar, completely oblivious to what she was actually feeling.
When they left, Winnifred started cooking for Thanksgiving with her mother. She would never find out, because Guinevere would never tell, that as she walked the men out of the house Edgar proposed to her, scared that she would find someone now that she was older. She said no. She realized in that moment that she could never lie to him. She loved him, not the way he hoped, but she could not allow him to live a lie the rest of his days.
So Edgar left, and Guinevere went back in, had dinner with her family, and played music with her brother, feeling happy for the first time. Sorry, and scared, but also happy that she did not need to lie to herself anymore.

It was Isaiah, Sophie’s youngest brother, who knocked on the door. He had had a birthday recently, and it was starting to become obvious as he aged that he resembled Theodore and his father more than anyone not related to them should. Whether the family acknowledged this or not, it was left unspoken.
Guinevere did not go back in with him, however. Winnifred was entertained with her uncle, and did not go looking for her until later, which, in fact, may have been a good thing. Guinevere had walked around to the back of the house, and right there, where no one could see her, she waited for Ethelwyne. Ethelwyne asked her how things were going with her brother. Guinevere said they were going good. Neither of them said the words they meant to say. They shared a sad but very intense embrace, and Guinevere walked her back to the front of the house, where she meant to say goodbye.
Then, it happened. Ethelwyne kissed her. It was quick, they were both too afraid that anyone would see them. But it was enough for Guinevere to know she was not the only one that felt that way. It was as comforting as it was scary, knowing she wasn’t alone while also being aware that she could never speak of this to anyone. But, mostly, what would she do with Edgar? Would she be able to pretend for the rest of her life?

On a cloudy, rainy day, Winnifred and Athelstan shared their first kiss. They had gone for a walk in town, and they had brought Guinevere and Edgar with them. They walked, played chess in the park, and Athelstan eventually asked Edgar if he could take Ginny and give them some time alone. He was very gentle, and Winnifred had to hide her excitement when he finally decided to kiss her.
Meanwhile, Edgar took this opportunity to let Guinevere know he was interested in her. Ginny wasn’t as sure, and it was rather uncomfortable for her, but she was determined to let her niece have a great afternoon, so it wasn’t until they had dinner together later that night that she told her what happened.
“You must be excited,” said Winnifred.
“I don’t know,” Ginny responded, “I really like Edgar, he is really nice, and I do believe any woman would be lucky to receive this kind of attention from him, but... I don’t feel right. I am not sure that I am the right woman for him.”
“Nonsense! You are beautiful, kind, and talented. He would be lucky to have you!”
A knock on the door interrupted them. Guinevere stood up and walked to the door, and Winnifred finished her dinner in silence.

A regular day for the Bennetts these days included Theodore playing piano, Winnifred reading or playing chess with her mother and regular visits from Ethelwyne, who had become very close friends with Guinevere. However, Ginny was always in a bit of a mood when she left, and she would play the saddest songs on her violin in her and Winnie’s room for hours, until it was time to go to sleep.
Nobody knew what made her this sad, and she did not seem to want to talk to them either, not even to Winnifred. It was worrysome, but all Winnie could do was hope that, in time, she would trust her with her problems.

The Thomas family moved in, and Sophie thought it would be nice to welcome them into the neighborhood. It was a marriage with three children: Athelstan, the oldest, was around Guinevere’s age, while Edgar and Ethelwyne were twins and Winnie’s age.
For Winnifred and Athelstan, it was love at first sight. The five children became friends rather quickly, but for those two it was something else. Something of another world. Edgar also started wooing Guinevere, but Winnifred fell for Athelstan as soon as she met him. He was kind, funny, outgoing and really, really handsome. She could see a bright future with him, and she would speak of him over a game of chess with her mother every night since they met, until Sophie became convinced that she would soon see her daughter married to this man.
We’re back! I’m sorry that I haven’t been posting in so long, I’ve been studying for finals and it has been really stressful. I do have a lot of screenshots to share with you, though!

Winnie’s birthday came not too long before Beaumont’s. Their mother baked them both a blue birthday cake and once again invited her youngest brother over. Isaiah and Beaumont quickly became the best of friends, and the family would be seeing a lot of the both of them together from then on.
Ginny had never stopped playing violin. Just like her brother, and their mother before them, her love for music was her biggest quality. Winnifred, on the other hand, was not so keen on drawing as she was when she was younger, but she found other hobbies. Beaumont was the most social out of the three kids, and it showed, but the girls had each other and that was all that mattered for them.
