#sims 4 decades challenge
The rascal of the family aged up. Lawrence Junior is now a teen. He's not attending school, neither he likes to work at the farm. Most of the times he sneaks out to bathe at the river, he spends his aftnernoons loafing around in town with his friends.
His parents are quite concerned about his future. "You have to find something you like, if working as a farmer is not for you, find another job." They always say to him.
Lawrence doesn't really care, he still thinks his too young to work. "What if I marry a rich old lady?" he often jokes with his friends.

In the aftermath of John’s death, the Gilmores attempt to get somewhat back to normal. Henry has been really attentive and caring with the little ones, teaching them to fish and help out on the farm.
Oliver has been spending more and more time working and reading, but it seems to be helping him process everything that has happened.
Violet has been spending more time with Freddie, who always knows just what to say to cheer her up. She often tells him stories of her father and Freddie will listen carefully and respond with his own stories, trading little pieces of themselves.
Abigail has been hit the hardest by John’s death. Her husband, her best friend, her one person: gone. She doesn’t quite know how to go on without him, but she has been finding strength in her children and the pieces of John she can spot in each of them.

Tenement Dreams - 500 Follower’s Gift
A CC-Free Historic Apartment Building
Lot size: 30x30
Lot type: Residential
Location: Waterside Warble, San Myshuno
Lot challenges: Off-The-Grid, Creepy Crawlies, Filthy
If you’ve been looking for historical apartment options, boy have I got a build for you!
This is based off New York City tenement buildings, which were very common through the end of the nineteenth and into the early twentieth centuries. Furnished for 1890 these apartment buildings are ready for your new sim immigrants to move right in!
More details and download under the cut.
The idea for this build came from a conversation that @jewishsimming and @strangetown-hotel were having about the role that tenements played in historical immigration (particularly Jewish) to the United States at the turn of the century and how the decades challenge really has a blind spot towards this. I have had similar thoughts in the past, and actually started a decades challenge in an apartment over a year ago (before I joined simblr), but the modern aspects of the buildings made it really hard to immerse. I wanted to build a lot that people could use both the interior and exterior of for their historical gameplay.
My family themselves immigrated to the U.S. in the late 1800s through Ellis Island so this particular geographic location and time in history has always been really interesting to me. I really delved into the history a bit more for this build and tried to stay true to it while also making it gameplay friendly.
This build is comprised of two apartment buildings, both fully furnished. There is a total of four two-room apartments, and ten four-room apartments. The apartments are furnished identically, as I didn’t have the energy to furnish all of them individually and just copied rooms, I hope no one minds. Each apartment has access to an exterior fire escape. There are two bathrooms in each building, located on the first and third floors in the hallways. The furnishings are sparse and worn. The cost of each apartment is around that of a decades starter couple, so it is somewhat “accurate” in that regard.
The build is play tested for one couple, but I did not attempt any kind of roommate situation. It should work, but personally I find that to be too much of a hassle. I would just lock the doors for all the apartments your sims don’t live in (don’t forget fire escape doors) and pretend the neighbors aren’t at home.
I hope that everyone likes it, please let me know if there are any issues and please tag me if you use it. I LOVE to see people using my builds, it just warms my heart.

An 1890s feminine lookbook for a woman living in the American rural South.
I tried my hand at making a gif, and it was less intimidating than I thought! Breaking from an unwritten tradition, I am featuring our lovely matriarch to showcase these looks. As always, this is not strictly what was in fashion but what I imagine a family of sharecroppers could afford.

The crops aren’t the only thing growing well at Heartsong. The children are getting so big! I overheard little Francis talking back to his father the other day-- even at his young age, he thinks he knows it all. His health has been better lately, although he seems small for his age. We try not to worry too much.
And Flora! Oh Flora-- she is positively becoming a young woman already. Time is flying, Bea. She had a rather important birthday just last week.
Last but not least, yet again, I am growing. I’m with child, and suffering almost every day because of it. Even the kitchen has been going uncleaned these days. Henry gives me so much grace, and for that I am thankful.
Be grateful you will never experience the pains of pregnancy, and even worse-- labor. Oh Bea. How I wish you could meet the children, and see this farm. Sometimes I can’t believe just how lucky I am.
Your miserable, grumpy sister,

Luther wears random clothes and run outside the house with no one noticing. He sits by the path through the woods, lost in his thoughts he doesn't hear someone approaching.
"You helped with those offenders, hopefully you're not turning into one of them" The young servant is standing next him.
"What... I..." Luther's speachless in front of such a confidence. "I just wanted to see you... but I can leave if it bothers you."
"I wasn't speaking seriously Mister Walsh, you can accompany me home if you wish” she smiled.
Her name is Marianne, she works for the Walsh since she was a child. The reason why she walks at night is to bring leftlovers from the Walsh family to her grandmother.
"Her home is across the wood, she's now to old to walk alone. I bring her food. She took care of me, cause’ I've never met my parents" Marianne explains. "You know, your aunt is very gentle, she's always says I could be a great baker. I would love to have my bakery one day."
"I think you can achieve whatever you want." Luther anwers.
"And what about you?" Marianne asks, with blushing cheeks.
"Oh... I'm kind of boring I guess? I hope to become a preceptor once I graduate. I want to become a good teacher, and husband... and father."
They talk without noticing the time passing by and the sun rising.

John’s death was very sudden, but the doctor says it has been coming for a while. He has been overworking himself even with more helpers on the farm and his age was beginning to catch up to him.
All the Gilmores are devastated. John was the rock in their family and nobody knows what they will do without him now.
John is buried right beside his son, William. He will be remembered by his six children, his wife, and all those he knew for being one of the most humble, gentle, and genuinely kind humans. Rest in the sweetest peace.

A car drove up the driveway of the little farm in Henford one day. Ruth saw it approach from the kitchen window. She recognised it as an army vehicle.
As two officers exited the car and walked up to the door, Ruth's heart sank to a depth she had never known possible. She was filled with instant dread. There was no good reason for the officers to be there. She felt herself begin to mourn without even knowing who for.
Ruth collapsed to the ground and the officers ran to her side. Teddy appeared and held his wife as she disolved into tears. She could barely speak, only saying 'no, no no no,' over and over again.
The officers pitied the grieving mother, her reaction making their job even harder. It was impossible news to deliver, and yet they had to let her know.
'I am so sorry sir, madam,' said the senior of the pair. 'It is with great sadness that we must advise that your two sons, Privates Brown and Brown, were killed in action serving their country.'
There would be no bodies to bury. No chance to say goodbye. Their dearest twins, Bernard and Cecil, were gone. Killed as they defended the vulerable peoples of their country from the terror in the skies. Their deaths were not in vain. But Ruth and Teddy felt they were, nonetheless.

A CC Free General Store Build
Lot size: 20x15
Lot type: Retail
Location: Catscratch Cottage, Brindleton Bay
Several weeks ago I asked you all what you might like to see as another historical build, and @simming-in-the-rain suggested a general store! I had a whole lot of fun building this one, and I hope that you all enjoy it!
More details and download under the cut.
I based this build off of several reference photos, I wanted it to have a somewhat rough feel to it. It’s furnished appropriately for any time period between 1860 and 1930, if you’re flexible. I built it on the docks in Brindleton Bay, so there is flooring all over it, but I honestly think that it looks good on more normal terrain as well. My reference photo included a floored area next to the building for loading and such. I think it would fit really well in Oasis Springs and Strangerville, as it does have a bit of that wild west vibe.
It should function as a retail store, I have it set up for that. I tried to set employee uniforms, but didn’t find that they saved through the gallery. If you want it to function really smoothly as a destination for your sims I would suggest setting an owner and going in and manually hiring workers and setting their uniforms. If anyone knows of a way to have those save, let me know!
If you want to play as general store owners, the apartment is fully functional for a small family, I usually move them into an empty plot and then have them buy the store and spend all their time there.
Definitely place with MOO, and please let me know if there any issues of any kind! Use most packs and the country kitchen kit.
If you use it I’d love to be tagged in any photos you take!
On the gallery as Wharf & Co. General Store, ID is antiqueplumbobs.

Julie: 1970's CC Stuff Pack
Julie Albright's parents recently divorced and she moved to a different part of San Francisco, where she's attending a new school and can only see her dad and best friend Ivy on the weekends. Her biggest passion is basketball so when she's told that the school's team is for boys only, she fights back, stating that Title IX gives girls the right to play. Whether it's petitioning for gender equality in sports, protecting endangered species or running for student body president, Julie learns that the best way to deal with the changes you can't control is to make positive changes of your own.
17 items total: 13 CAS/4 BB.
Merged files for CAS, BB and all plus sub-folder for individual files.
Most of the items in this set are BGC but the basketball requires City Living.
The casual pants are not compatible with boots that go higher than mid-calf, but work with shorter boots and other shoe types. They also don't work with shorter tops or ones that tuck. The meet jeans do not work with socks.
Done in the American Girl palette with extra neutral swatches.

A whole year passed and Charlie grew into a cheerful little boy.
He really enjoyed following Joseph and Alice around the farm, mimicking them and attempting to help out with the chores. He was rather quiet and timid compared to the other children his age, but was extremely affectionate and displayed immense curiosity about the world around him.
His parents couldn't be happier to be raising such a loving healthy toddler, and the thoughts of bringing another little one into the world began crossing their minds once more.

Henry was initially displeased when the midwife shooed him from the bedroom as she assisted his wife through labor-- that is, until he heard the blood curdling shrieks coming from behind the closed door. He thought himself rather lucky that he got to sit this one out.
And when he held his baby daughter for the first time, when it was all over, as his tired wife slept, something in his life felt... complete.
