As in womenswear, early 17th century menswear styles maintained the basic features of late 16th century dress. However, come the 1610s romantic adornments and embellishments really started to explode in popularity. Rosettes were added to shoes, lace trimmed collars and cuffs, and sashes became a way to signify group membership in an era before military uniforms. While women's fashion became fuller, men's styles slimmed further and further until the silhouette was far removed from the boxy shape of the 1500s.

London, 1895
Kenneth Jr.
Today, Mr. Gresbrooke stopped by to talk to me after a meeting with Father: he explained that his daughter has told him at length about my interest in politics as well as my “studious and courteous manner.” He declared that I seem to be an intelligent young man with a good head fixed quite firmly on my shoulders, and that he's glad to hear that I have remained “blessedly untouched” by my mother’s “disposition.”
Though I cared little for the reference to Mother — the loss of her is not something I like to be reminded of, even if I think of her absence nearly every moment — I am unashamed to say I have been waiting for such an acknowledgement for some time! I know I'll work alongside him and Father one day, and I know it will make Mother proud, too.
Thomas
Richie said that Kenny is all Ethel ever talks about lately, so I asked him why, and would you believe Richie said she fancies him? Yuck! We agreed that it’s plainly gross, and I asked him if Anne fancies anyone (I suppose the answer I was hoping for is obvious!) but he just shrugged and said she’ll be married in a couple of years, anyway. He said he’ll never marry — isn't that daft — and I said I’ll definitely marry his sister, though he teased me like I meant Ethel, when I know he knew I meant Anne!
I’m gladder to have a best friend than ever; I feel like I forgot I could have fun for a while, and the Gresbrookes' country home is glorious in the summer. I’m even inspired to draw: you can guess who!
I hope I’ll be able to work on my illustrations for Mother again soon, but they only make me sad right now, and I hate to cry. I can’t wait until I’m a man, and I’ll never have to cry again.

Château de Clèrisseau: 23 Mai 1850, 14:15
Tumblr media
Marquis de Clèrisseau: I'll be back in time to change for dinner, Auclair. I'll need to be if not to receive another lecture from-Roquefort?
Vicomte de Vignieu: Bonne journée, Valery.
Marquis de Clèrisseau: Bonne journée....that'll be all, Auclair.
Valet: Monsieur. [Leaves]
Tumblr media
Marquis de Clèrisseau: Well this is certainly a surprise. What possibly brings you by? Surely it's too early to call on-
Vicomte de Vignieu: Oh, non...I actually came to speak with le Duc.
Tumblr media
Marquis de Clèrisseau: [Sighs Dramatically] I suppose it was inevitable...
Vicomte de Vignieu: Pardon?
Marquis de Clèrisseau: Hmm? Oh, nothing. Just off in my own thoughts I suppose....lots to do, people to see...I'm sure you of all people can understand.
Tumblr media
Vicomte de Vignieu: Has anyone bothered to mention how tiresome you can be?
Marquis de Clèrisseau: Perhaps...though I suppose hearing it once more from you couldn't hurt.
Vicomte de Vignieu: [Scoffs] I do not have time to verbally spar with you this afternoon, Valery. I was told le Duc would be in this afternoon?
Tumblr media
Marquis de Clèrisseau: You were misinformed.
Vicomte de Vignieu: I sincerely doubt that.
Marquis de Clèrisseau: And just what, might I ask, has you so insistent to see him at this hour? He is a very busy man, after all.
Vicomte de Vignieu: If you must know, I've called on him to ask for Eleanor's hand.
Tumblr media
Marquis de Clèrisseau: ...
Vicomte de Vignieu: I don't think I've ever seen you without words, Ernest. Cat got your tongue, perhaps?
Marquis de Clèrisseau: Have you truly thought this through, Albert?
Vicomte de Vignieu: I don't know what you're insin-
Tumblr media
Marquis de Clèrisseau: Don't lie to me, Roquefort. It's clear as day to anyone with eyes. My sister is not a pawn for your jealous squabbles with-
Vicomte de Vignieu: I never said she was-
Marquis de Clèrisseau: And yet you stand here waiting to ask for her hand.
Tumblr media
Vicomte de Vignieu: I do not need to explain myself to you.
Marquis de Clèrisseau: Non....because the answer is obvious. You need to-
Duc de Clèrisseau: Ah, Vicomte.
Tumblr media
Duc de Clèrisseau: I do hope not to have kept you waiting.
Vicomte de Vignieu: Of course not, Monsieur. Bonne journée. Your delay allowed me the opportunity to catch up with Ernest, here. It has been quite a while since we've had the chance to connect.
Duc de Clèrisseau: Ah, oui, oui. All of you used to be so close back in the day...but I suppose I have kept you waiting long enough. Shall we?

January 1924, London, England
Tumblr media
When Francesca had discovered Giselle unconscious early the next morning after realizing she’d never come to bed, she’d screamed so loud that it woke up their neighbors. Perhaps it was a testament to her love of her daughter, but when Francesca had phoned Rebecca, she’d arrived in London on the same day, having left Newcrest almost immediately.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rebecca had lamented about not knowing how to contact Byron, for she had not a clue where he was in London since his servants had said that he was not in Henford, so when Rebecca was looking after Giselle, she’d called Montgomery’s, and unsurprisingly, found the duo were in bed when she had called.
“Is she alright?” Byron demanded the moment he entered their apartment. “Mama?”
Rebecca gasped and hugged her son. “Oh my lord, I was so worried we wouldn’t get a hold of you.”
Montgomery entered with a sad smile. “Then perhaps it was a good thing we were havin’ supper at me house.”
Rebecca stared in shock. “My word, Montgomery! Is it really you? You look well, dear.”
“It’s lovely to see ya, Rebecca.” He frowned. “I’m sorry I havena been a very good son-in-law.” He glanced at Francesca. “How is she? Has a doctor come?”
She nodded. “Yes. When she wakes, she’ll be fine, but the workload must decrease if she doesn’t want to risk a heart attack in her twenties.”
“Would ya like me to check anyway? I brought me bag.”
“Yes, please.” She nodded. “Thank you, Montgomery.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The pair went up the stairs, leaving the mother and son alone. A feeling of guilt arose in Byron. He’d not seen his mother since Easter. He also hadn’t told her of his renewed friendship with Scotsman.
“Are you well, Mama? I know this has been a great shock.”
“I am better than I was yesterday. Giselle will be alright, and that is all that matters to me.” She turned to face him. “Why did you never tell me about your renewed relationship with Montgomery? I don’t think I would have recognized him if he hadn’t spoken. He looks better than the last I saw him.”
“We ran into each other at a party in the summer. He spent the last four years traveling the world and only returned to Great Britain last spring. …I’m sorry I didn’t come home for Christmas. I’ve… been seeing someone new. It…. isn’t official, but I think I would like it to be. But I am content for now.”
“You spent Christmas with a woman whom you are not officially courting?”
“She’s Jewish,” he replied, semi-joking.
Rebecca stared blankly, and Byron wasn’t sure if she was disappointed, upset, or both.

Antiquated Brindleton
An 1890s Decades Challenge Save File
This save has been almost a year in the making, but it's finally here! It includes a completely rebuilt Brindleton Bay inspired by historic New England towns and set in the 1890s. This save uses a light amount of historical cc and most of the packs.
Download and details under the cut:
Tumblr media
SAVE DETAILS:
Includes:
Eight new residential lots
Seven new community lots
Six new households
Builds and households are all located in Brindleton Bay. The world is intended to be historically accurate to about 1890, though some liberties for functionality have been taken.
Builds in other worlds have been deleted. The necessary buildings, like dorms, active career lots, and the high school, have all been left in place.
Townies have been evicted, but not deleted, as I prefer EA townies to fully randomized townies.
If you’d like more period appropriate townies to add, the lovely @jewishsimming has some great historical ones to download and @cowplant-snacks has an amazing tutorial on how to manage your townies with MCCC.
REQUIREMENTS: I have all the packs except Batuu and some of the kits. I didn’t limit myself when building. I don’t have everything listed out here, but I will be uploading all the lots and households to my gallery, so if you’d like to know specific pack usage you’ll be able to check there. If you load in and things are replaced or missing and you think it looks obvious feel free to message me, I’m always happy to try to help you find something else that fits! This save includes historical CC, some is included in my download in folders and some you will need to download from the creators directly. My Fair Lady: Early Romantic Era Hairs
Tumblr media
♫♫♫♫ (sorry I now feel the feminine urge to include a Regency song in everything, ignore me but it sounds better as you read.)
Alright, I made these Early Romantic Era (1820-1910) hairstyles and decided why not release them. They are named after characters in my sims story, Isabella, Selina, Aurelia, and Susan (3 of which have not been introduced yet). You can look at their aesthetics if you want here. There are no 1820s hairstyles so I saw it fit to make some for my story. I say these are 1820s Hairstyles but these can work from about 1817-1827. The two without the Apollo knots can work for as early as 1815. The two with the Apollo knots can work as early as 1817.
I have snatched pieces of hair from @the-melancholy-maiden and @buzzardly28, credit to them for amazing pieces of hair I can work with.
BGC, with all EA natural swatches.
Here are some different angles of them in my game:

I love these sims they're so cute.
Below are pictures of hairstyles from this era which I used as inspiration to make them.

Following on from the simple modesty of the 1300s, female hair in the 1400s became a lot more elaborate thanks to the addition of hair pieces, ribbon and other decorations. Braided styles evolved into very detailed and decorative concoctions. Styles also became more flowy and romantic, often with curls framing the face. CC links under the cut.

Trois femmes aux ombrelles
And we're back at the regular 1880's fashion with this set which inludes bustle skirts in 3 lenghts, 2 skirt overlays, 3 flower accessories, a parasol and an umbrella !
More pics and download below
As referenced in the title, this set was inspired by Marie Bracquemont’s painting : Trois femmes aux ombrelles ou Les Trois grâces / Three Ladies with Parasols or Three Graces, 1880.
Thanks to @javitrulovesims for making the perfect pose for this set !
———————————   Skirts  ———————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
Once again, these skirts have a slight bustle shape which would best fit for the natural form era : roughly 1875 - 1883 ; (well actually, the size of the bustle is dependant on the size of the sim’s butt so do with that what you will). They are more ornate than my Cueillette skirts featuring some gathered layers and trims typical of the period, so they would be better suited for higher class people or more dressed up occasions.
And as always I give you 3 versions with each a different lenght to have more teen options and worker friendly options . The short one end mid calf, the medium one is ankle lenght and the long is full lenght.
74 swatches : 22 solids, 10 floral, 6 plaid, 25 striped & 11 polka dot patterns
3 lenghts : S, M & L
————————— Skirt Overlays —————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
These two overlays will allow to respectively change the gathered layers and the trim swatches in order to channel the trim crazy period that were the 1880's.
Tumblr media
in the middle finger section
74 swatches for the skirt overlay : 22 solids, 10 florals, 6 plaids, 25 stripes & 11 polka dots patterns
22 solid swatches for the trim overlay
———————— Flower Accessories ————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
To properly channel Marie Bracquemond's painting I needed a bunch of flower accessories so you will find 3 accessories in this set : a hair flower, a collar flower and a boutonnière. In my opinion these are pretty timeless and can suit a wide array of looks as portrayed in the pictures below.
These are all edits of @the-melancholy-maiden's Hair Flowers Through the Ages Part 2 thanks to her very open TOU.
Tumblr media
none of these are compatible with hats
51 swatches : the-melancholy-maiden's original 29 colors and my 22 colors
the collar flower and the boutonnière are in the necklace section
the hair flower is in the hat section, available for both female and male frames
the hair flower is hat slider compatible
————————   Parasol & Umbrella  ————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
I made both an umbrella and a lacey parasol (using Javi's texture). These are rather timeless too I think, they are definetely suited for late victorian and edwardian eras.
These are both edits of @javitrulovesims's Meiji Komorebi Accessory Parasol, thank you Javi !
NOT compatible with necklaces, earrings, piercings or anything using the same UVmap (such as kijiko's lashes unfortunatly)
in the right index finger section
45 swatches : 2 colors for the frame and handle, 22 for the canopy and 1 fully black swatch
———————————————————————————

I've been quietly doing a Decades Challenge in my spare time for over a year, and I've finally reached the 2010s.
But one of the most prominent characters throughout the (sim) years is Velma Frances "Vee" Robinson, who married my gen. 2 heir in 1934 and just stole the show - from being a wartime housewife to becoming a successful businesswoman, cat sanctuary manager, and an eccentric great-grandma.
She's lived through two world wars and a scandalous divorce, always with a cig in her hand and a cat by her side - and she is still around in 2010, at the ripe age of 97!
I've loved playing with her so far and just wanted to share a few snapshots I've collected over the years.
