Welcome Home (2023) Tickle Headcanons
I've held myself back WAY too long; here's some 'Welcome Home' tickle headcanons for all my fellow puppet fans!
Wally Darling
Wally loves to pretend he's a pure ler, and don't get me wrong, he can be downright terrifying if he wants to. However, he's WAY too ticklish and loves it WAY to much to not be a switch. Let's say he's about 70% ler, 30% lee.
Gives Barnaby playful belly rubs and scratches behind the ears, which the beagle downright adores.
Loves teasing poor Frank about his sensitivity, catching his eye from across the room and subtly wiggling his fingers in the other's direction, immediately sending Frank into a flustered stupor.
You know this man loves to tease; he isn't afraid to pull out that "coochie coochie coo" shit if he's feeling particularly mean.
I'm convinced Wally has used his paintbrushes to "accidentally" tickle people on multiple occasions.
Ooooh, Wally is the definition of NOT being able to take what you dish out. While he has a good poker face, inside he will be dying of nerves and embarrassment if you threaten to tickle him.
Once Howdy held him still while Jill and Frank ganged up on him; the poor painter couldn't handle so much attention (which is saying A LOT for him).
He has this bright, hysterical cackle that gets a little airy after he's been going for a while. He's a major giggler, too.
Gets super pouty after being tickled, even though he definitely had fun, crossing his arms like an absolute child.
His worst spots are his ears, hands, and stomach. If you manage to snatch up one of his wrists, drag one of his paintbrushes across his palm. You won't be disappointed by the reaction.
Barnaby B. Beagle
Barnaby is a 50/50 switch, no doubt about it. He loves the playful closeness tickling can bring as well as the sensation itself.
He is definitely the type of ler to crack jokes while wrecking you, hoping to make you laugh even more.
"How many times do you have to聽tickle聽an聽octopus聽to make it laugh? Ten-tickles. Of course it only has 8 of those. Oh, you really liked that one! Listen to how hard you are laughing!"
With fur so soft and fluffy, Barnaby often accidentally tickles his friends when going in for a hug.
Teams up with Sally and Julie to create elaborate tickle games for everyone to engage in.
He just flops over and takes it whenever he's tickled, tail wagging faster than the speed of light.
If you get him laughing hard enough, Barnaby starts little out little barks, yips, and howls.
The ears and under the chin are a giggle spots for him but he LOVES getting them scratched.
Sometimes, his leg will start to shake like a real dogs when he's tickled, particularly if a really good spot is being targeted.
His worst spots are his ears, stomach, and feet. Despite his ticklish he is, Barnaby enjoys a good belly rub every now and then.
Julie Joyful
Julie loves everything about tickling but tends to lean SLIGHTLY towards the ler side. I'd consider her 60% ler, 40% lee if I had to put a number on it.
Whenever Frank is especially grumpy, she'll sneak up behind him and tickle him until he's a giggly, happy puddle.
She cannot help but laugh along with her lee, giving them the biggest, goofiest grin as she cooes over how cute they are.
Has a collection of feathers she's gotten from Poppy that she uses from time to time, dusting them across exposed ears or necks.
I'm convinced she has a "tickle song" that she sings while she is wrecking you; it's super sweet and flustering (and WILL be the death of someone if she isn't careful).
As a lee, she doesn't hold back her reactions at all, letting her giggles and squeals flow freely.
While Julie is a squirmer, she isn't violent, meaning you don't really have to pin her down in order to safely wreck her.
Impossible to fluster since she has no shame about liking tickling; one of the more resilient lees in the neighborhood.
Starts a good chunk of the neighborhood tickle fights despite having a low win ratio.
Her worst spots are her ribs and sides; everywhere else is only moderately ticklish.
Frank Frankly
Someone so grumpy is OBLIGATED to be super ticklish. It doesn't help that Frank would be a TOTAL LEE most of the time, with only a 10% ler ratio.
When he does take the ler position, he's still pretty reserved, rarely utilizing teasing or rougher touches.
If he isn't careful, he can end up flustering HIMSELF while trying to tickle others (Wally jumped on this little bit of information the moment it came to light).
His tickles tend to be spidery and gentle; very rarely will be go all-out with his wreckings.
Of all the neighbors, he tickles Julie the most, with Eddie coming in at a close second.
When he's in a lee mood, all you need to do is glance Frank's direction to get him flustered, a smile tugging at his lips.
Prefers gentle tickles since all-out wreckings can be physically exhausting at times.
Please give him ticklish kisses. They will have him super giggly and snorty in seconds.
Shockingly enough, Eddie is his favorite ler, a fact likely influenced by his (totally not crush) on the man.
His worst spots are his armpits, hips, and knees. His neck is a nice little giggle spot, though!
Poppy Partridge
Poppy was a little harder for me to pin down. In the end, I think she'd mostly be a ler, as her feathers help protect her from any tickly attacks.
Due to her anxious nature, she's very careful when tickling someone, not wanting to overwhelm them. Expect frequent check-in and breaks.
Much like Barnaby, she accidentally tickles her friends frequently, as her feathers are WAY to tickly for most people.
While she'll tickle anyone who asks, Howdy is her most common target, with Julie being a close second.
Tickling gets her super nervous. What if her laugh is too loud? Or weird? What if her ler is only doing it out of a sense of obligation?
Once she's been reassured, Poppy is such a sweet lee, just curling up and letting herself get tickled to pieces.
Her laugh is full of little whistles and chirps, especially when you hit a good spot, though she's rather embarrased by it.
Gets into tickle fights with Sally and Julie whenever they have a girl's night.
Rougher tickles tend to work best on Poppy simply because it's harder for her to feel gentle ones through all her feathers.
Her worst spots are her wings, knees, and feet. Ruffling the small feathers towards the base of her wings is guaranteed to have her squealing in seconds.
Howdy Pillar
With so many arms, it makes sense that Howdy is one of the main lers of the neighborhood, sitting at about 80% ler and 20% lee. However, he does enjoy his rare turns in the lee position.
Uses one set of arms to hold his lee still while the other sets to work, quickly turning whoever he's targeting into a absolute mess.
He's quite good at teasing, though he prefers simply complimenting his lee, assuring them of how nice their smile is and things like that.
Even though he's a one man army in tickle fights, Howdy loves teaming up with other lers, particularly Julie.
Definitely the ler Wally is most intimidated by due to the pure size difference between the two.
As a lee, Howdy is a major squirmer, arms flailing about as he tries to figure out what to do with himself.
Has this loud, goofy laugh you can hear for miles. It gets borderline hysterical when you hit a sweet spot, becoming more squealing than laughter.
Teasing is somewhat effective on him. While it's enough to get him a bit flustered, it certainly won't kill him.
Enjoys both gentle and rougher tickles, though he admittedly has a small preference for the later, as they allow him to truly let go and laugh himself silly.
His worst spots are his armpits, thighs, and feet. Are these a clique option for a caterpillar? I don't know and I don't care.
Sally Starlet
While she certainly doesn't hate being tickled, Sally tends to fall into the ler role most often. Her numerous attacks and antics have earned her the title of "tickle monster" of the neighborhood.
She is a super dramatic ler, gushing over "how much it must tickle" and how "she may never stop" if they keep laughing like that.
Her tickles are quick and ruthless, jumping from place to place in unpredictable chaos. She's also a fan of rapid pokes or squeezes to a sweet spot.
Loves tormenting Wally; she claims tickling is the only thing that will bring out his "true" smile and laugh.
When Eddie first arrived in the neighborhood, she made it her mission to discover ALL of his ticklish spots. It only took three weeks to achieve this goal.
The biggest struggler of the group. Tickling pumps her full of energy, sending this already rambunctious girl up the wall.
She has a borderline-hysterical cackle (think Harley Quinn) that never looses its pitch or volume. She is also a big snorter.
Like Julie, teases don't really work on her, since she finds tickling to be such a fun experience.
Sometimes, she will outright ASK to be tickled, if she's in a mood. However, if she's feeling particularly playful, she WILL pester you into attacking.
Her worst spots are her stomach, sides, and hips. Her little sunrays get some cute giggles out of her, though.
Eddie Dear
Finally, we have Eddie, who I think would be a lee-leaning switch (heavy on the lee part). Seriously, the man is SUPER ticklish and easily gets sent into lee moods.
While he doesn't ler often, Eddie does occasionally get a playful streak in him. Frank usually ends up on the receiving end of this sudden onslaught of ler energy.
Doesn't INTENTIONALLY tease his lee. However, his sickly sweet and genuine comments about how adorable they are MIGHT AS WELL be considered a tease.
His tickles vary depending on the lee, though he usually sticks with gentler touches, not wanting to overwhelm his victim.
It took a while to warm up to the others enough to engage in their tickle fights, but once he did, Eddie proved to be able to hold his ground.
A big fan of using tickle bites and raspberries, knowing from personal experience how tickly they can be.
Wally can be downright RUTHLESS to him sometimes, appearing out of nowhere to poke his side or squeeze his thigh.
While Eddie loves being tickled, he gets super flustered if anyone points it out. He won't deny it, though.
Has this loud, wailing laugh that's filled to the brim with shrieks and snorts.
His worst spots are his armpits, stomach, and hips. If you tickle anywhere NEAR his waist, he's gone. Deceased. No longer in the land of the living.
