"Don't use Libby because it costs libraries too much, pirate instead" is such a weird, anti-patron, anti-author take that somehow manages to also be anti-library, in my professional librarian-ass opinion.

It's well documented that pirating books negatively affects authors directly* in a way that pirating movies or TV shows doesn't affect actors or writers, so I will likely always be anti-book piracy unless there's absolutely, positively no other option (i.e. the book simply doesn't exist outside of online archives at all, or in a particular language).

Also, yeah, Libby and Hoopla licenses are really expensive, but libraries buy them SO THAT PATRONS CAN USE THEM. If you're gonna be pissed at anybody about this shitty state of affairs, be pissed at publishing companies and continue to use Libby or Hoopla at your library so we can continue to justify having it to our funding bodies.

One of the best ways to support your library having services you like is to USE THOSE SERVICES. Yes, even if they are expensive.

On the one hand: Will Graham having his own complex interior world full of rich imagery and symbolism that he cannot or will not share with others is really sad. Who’s he going to tell? He can’t tell Alana, and he can’t tell Jack. His trust has been so totally violated that it’s not like he can easily go find another therapist, or another confidante; Hannibal’s ulterior motives are obvious so he can’t be trusted with anything so sensitive. Will’s experiences with psychosis/unreality and his fears of being institutionalized against his will (again) are a good disincentive on sharing with anyone else. So he’s just got all this stuff going on inside his head that he can’t articulate to anyone else and it’s a tragedy.

On the other: this means Will has never told Hannibal about the sexy rope crush snuff dream, the sexy slit throat snuff dream, the freaky deer, the freaky deer men, the deer man three-way… and while I generally am more into “they both die” takes on the s3 finale I would make an exception for a situation where Hannibal finally learns all this and I get to see the look on his face.
