Anyone up for bringing back the coffee cup challenge?
I was reminded of it yesterday when I was trying to balance my coffee straight after purchase. Juniper has been a demon to train loose lead walking but has some beautiful moments now. And she was able to participate briefly in the challenge!
For newbies, here are the rules. Hold your dogs lead in the same hand as a cup of coffee (or partially open beverage of your choice) and walk with minimal spilling.
If you’re like me, and will spill regardless of a dog, do not worry! The point is that you can walk a dog in the same hand as a drink without it plastering the pavement.
Obviously make sure that you’re doing it in a safe area, not by a busy road with lots of cars, or area with lots of dogs and people. If you can’t do it, it’s okay! It’s just a fun little challenge to showcase control.
Flynn, on the edge of the woods this afternoon, enjoying a good breeze which was coming up from the orchards & fields beyond.
I wonder if dogs appreciate the scents drifting to them from across a landscape in a similar way to us humans, when we pause to look out at a beautiful & interesting view? When I watch Flynn sitting still & quiet, face pointed into the wind, eyes closed, nose twitching, I think maybe he does.
I wait so patient but it’s been a week and I want new things now 😞
I ordered a new dog tag and collar for Junebug and I neeeeeed them to arrive swiftly. But alas I think they’re both made to order to I will continue to wait without much fussing.
I couldn’t order the beautiful elk leather collar because they didn’t have the option to ship to the UK when I went to pay. So she has a lovely martingale coming which I’ve been yearning after for a while.
Just gotta order the leads now but I’m lazy. I was going to order just one and complained to my partner how I wanted to get a different colour but it wouldn’t match with some of her existing gear. Man saw the lead and loved it so he’s gonna shove some money at me to buy both colours 😂 I like co-parenting a dog, I can get more gear.
I’d excuse my dog voice but y’all know how it is. Yesterday I posted about a fantastic choice Juno made where she didn’t run to another off lead dog that came to watch us.
Well today this older fellow meandered across the field to us and I managed to capture this beautiful self control on camera. I’m dead proud!!
Juno has had an awful habit on jumping on other dogs as a greeting, she can come in a little strong and sometimes looks a little predatory whilst doing it. She’s actually fantastic with dogs and offers a lot of lovely behaviours such as play bows and pauses, but the initial greeting can be a bit much and she can be a little pushy to start with because she wants to be chased. I’m so proud of this little girl!!
