Stay Connected to Your Local Hill Country Community
In this time of uncertainty, now more than ever, is the time to rally with our local Hill Country Community. We all may be subject to our homes but that doesn't mean the support stops! It is our mission to support and advocate for small businesses and we are committed to that every day. Shop from your local retail shop, buy a gift card for later use, order curbside pickup from your favorite resturant, opt for delivery from your favorite winery. And if you can’t support in a monetary way, use social media as a platform to connect. Share a post, like and comment, tagging-these are all ways to support digitally. Take this time to be mindful of your wellbeing by staying inspired and thoughtful. Take an online workout class from one of your favorite workout classes or walk for 30 minutes daily, enjoying the breathtaking views of our Hill Country. Read that book you've been saving, binge watch your favorite show on Netflix, or challenge your family to their favorite board game. Bake your favorite dessert, perfect your homemade loaf of bread, or try new recipes. We are loving this Creamy Mushroom Cauliflower Gnocchi from The Defined Dish! Whatever it is you need to do to stay healthy, well, and connected to your community, we are committed to being your support system. #stayconnectedhillcountry XO

Ringing in January with Intention, Wellness, Health, and Love
Beginning a new year is always full with promise, resolutions freshly cultivated, and long days are carefully spent setting your intentions. When we scouted our Hill Country communities out for January 2020, we kept wellness, health, and love at the top of our minds. Whether that included signing ourselves up for the RE:BOOT Wellness Women's Weekend at Hoffman Haus with The Fernweh Studio or simply by curling up on a new couch from Home Simple Goods + Design and lighting that wonderfully aromatic candle you've been saving from Blackchalk Home and Laundry; each step connected us back to our wellbeing. It can be as easy as replicating your favorite Roasted Beet Salad from Otto’s German Bistro (click here for our favorite recipe!), treating yourself to a treasure map of a cookbook: Dining in By Alison Roman at The Mercantile at Mill and Grain to discover inventive combination of meals, or detoxing your way through the month with Kelani Yogurts’ Detox green juice. However you choose to spend your month, do it with care for yourself and for your community. Happy 2020 from The Scout Guide Hill Country!

May Flowers +7 Loves
April showers bring May flowers and what better way to celebrate the blooming spring than showering the Mothers in our lives by showing how much we care about them. Mother’s day is a little over a week away and to prepare, we have scouted out 7 gift ideas from our Hill Country network that will bring a smile to your mother, grandmother, sister, girlfriends, and all the lovely women in your life.  From the handmade velvet clutch found at The Elephant Story she's been eyeing all year, to the new custom kitchen she's had her heart set on from CKC Custom Homes, show her how much you appreciate all that she does for you this Mother’s Day. Go simple by bringing her favorite wine from Signor Vineyards and dessert from 2tarts Bakery or a keepsake print of this inspirational quote like this one below from Simple Home Goods. You also can’t go wrong by adorning her in emerald jewels, like this vintage ring from Fitch Estate Sales and her favorite designer dresses from Schreiner Goods. Whatever the case this month, make sure the one thing you do is to show your love and admiration for the women in your life. Happy May!

April Loves
They say April showers bring May flowers and in the Hill Country, this could not be closer to the truth. With days getting longer and temperatures rising, we start to fully embrace natures beauty in the Hill Country with gorgeous wildflowers sprouting up. This month, with Easter just around the corner, we chose to seasonally decorate with a pair of the classic Sisal bunny couple from Laurie Saunders and a new spring candle scent from Red Stag. We also can't resist a beautiful art print by Dolan Geiman, especially this Mary of the Fields found at Blackchalk Home and Laundry which really ties in the colors of spring. Speaking of colors, we are loving the new Nativa collection at The Creek Boutique which brings you handmade Mexican clothing and gifts made by the talented fair trade artisans throughout remote villages in Mexico. We can’t wait to scout out all of the different styles! We also think this silk quail family scarf from McKenna Quinn goes beautifully with just about all of our spring clothes. The best part of each month of course is the time we spend with our family and friends, enjoying all that the Hill Country has to offer. Share a yummy bellini from 78624 The Bar or a steak and shrimp dinner from Myron’s Prime Steakhouse and remember to tell them The Scout Guide Hill Country sent you! Happy April!!

March Loves
Hello Sunshine and Spring! The arrival of spring is always a breath of fresh air. As much as we love the cozy, cold weather of winter, we are looking forward to warmer nights and longer sunshine that March brings. If you’re planning a trip this spring, don't forget to pack for the warmer weather. This great linen CP Shades tunic from Haberdashery Boutique is perfect to throw over your bathing suit if you’re beach bound and the perfect transition to dinner. We also can’t live without a vintage basket bag and sunnies for the spring! We love this genuinely vintage box bag from Fitch Estate Sales and how can we forget these perfect tortoise shell sunglasses from Vaudeville! Its the perfect combination if you ask us. With any season change, we love celebrations and what better way to celebrate than with a get-together with family and friends! Remember to call RK Group for any of your party supplies as well as the freshest, seasonal flowers. They will make your space feel and smell like spring. We are all about health during the spring (especially after indulging during the holidays) but we can’t say no to serving any of Emma and Ollies homeade sweets to our guests-like these adorable, homemade poptarts! While we are on the topic of splurging on sweets, why not treat yourself to that big purchase you’ve been eyeing. We are already imagining ourselves driving through the beautiful Hill Country with the sunroof open in our brand new Lexus IS Sedan! We hope you enjoy your Hill Country Spring as much as we do!

Hill Country Loves of the New Year
Happy New Year TSG Hill Country! With the start of the new year, we are preparing for the usual personal goal setting and self improvement resolutions. We are committed to being our best self this year and we think you should too. What we have realized, is it comes full circle. From what we put in our bodies to the interior we surround ourselves in, everything has meaning in our day to day life. This year we intend to eat healthy, like this yummy field green salad from Badu 1891 however, still make time to indulge in a delicious meal, with our friends and family gathered around, from this recipe book, Sunday Suppers by Cynthia Graubert found at Laurie Saunders in Boerne. We also intend to self-indulge for a less stressful year which can be as simple as lighting our favorite candle, like this Nest Candle found at SG Home, and relaxing in sea bath filled with bathing salts. Don't forget about your San Saba heirloom facial tea from Hoffman Haus to fully embrace relaxation! We also found that having our home bring us joy is the best and simplest way to self indulge and de-stress. So invest in your favorite artist or buy that cashmere throw you have been eyeing all winter. Engaging in joy is the best resolution you can give yourself! What resolutions are you committing to this year? We can’t wait to see what 2019 brings to us!

November Loves
November is a time of bringing people together and what better way to do that than sharing a meal with those you love. Thats why this month, we made our loves all about the warmth that comes with being around the table: laughing, sharing stories, breaking bread, and toasting to your favorite red wine. With Thanksgiving being one of our favorite holidays, we can't think of a better time to share our serving favorites, like these embroidered turkey cocktail napkins from Laurie Saunders. The turkey and sides will always be main contender of our Thanksgiving meal, but to hold you over until then, we found a delicious recipe for an almond croissant for hungry bellies the morning of Thanksgiving. However, if you are tired of cooking, go to Emma and Ollie and find all the best bakery goods you will need to keep your guests satisfied during the Holiday season. There is also no better way to snack before a big meal than the perfect charcuterie board with all the ingredients found locally at La Bergerie. Share with us your favorite food and traditions! From all of us at The Scout Guide Hill Country, we hope everyone has an amazing Thanksgiving holiday! XO

7 Loves of October
Each season brings a change of color and we love the shades turning from green to auburn and gold during the fall. This is the time of year to bring out your new scarf, like this gorgeous Sabina Savage scarf from Schreiner Goods, or try out a new recipe with only seasonal ingredients like in Seasons by Donna Hay at Blackchalk Home and Laundry. The cookbook is not only gorgeous, but inspires you to cook with only the freshest, seasonal ingredients as well as giving you tips on how to enjoy the best of the season. While enjoying the seasonal lifestyle, the fall/winter typically calls for visits to family and friends for the holidays so invest in quality weekend bag like this Stanford black leather duffle bag from Vaudeville, that will last you throughout many seasons. Don’t forget, at the end of this month is Halloween! Share some amazing treats from 2Tarts Bakery in New Braunfels; these perfectly decorated sugar cookies are the absolute best and will quickly become a family favorite. We can’t wait to see what fall has in store for us this year!

September Loves
As September approaches, seasons start to change, and we are embracing all of our nesting needs to prepare for the fall weather. We love the idea of sprucing up our home with some new decor or taking some time out of our busy days to journal. We also scouted out the most charming bed and breakfasts where we plan to spend at least a weekend this fall, indulging in full self care. With summer over and the holidays in our radar, now is the time to reset our intentions and fully enjoy the remainder of 2018. We are looking forward for whats to come this fall season!

All things August
For August, we are bringing back our back-to-school best along with some new pieces to treat ourselves with while we continue celebrating all things summer. The straw bag trend has taken over summer by storm, so there is no surprise that we consider it a must-have when we see one multitasking at Blackchalk Home and Laundry. To continue our summer festivities, gather ideas from the entertaining book, Host: A Modern Guide to Eating, Drinking and Feeding Your Friends by Eric Prum, Josh Williams. Found at La Bergerie, it’s the perfect guide to host an end of the summer soiree, whether intimate or large-scale. We are especially looking forward to enjoying and recreating the most refreshing Spanish Gin and Tonic from The Treaty House! It is the perfect, classic summer cocktail to enjoy on these hot August nights. This Texas heat can sometimes be unbearable, so remember to keep yourself healthy and hydrated during your celebrations by using a refillable water bottle that is easy to slip in your bag, like this slim MemoBottle at Vaudeville. As much and as often as we complain about the heat, we certainly don't want Summer and all of its happiness to end. We hope you have enjoyed and continue to enjoy yours through August! XO
