Fitting name once you learn of its sinister reputation. For Bethany, the story of the Myrtles Plantation left her frightened but also sad. This really left an impression on her as a young girl. Located in St. Francisville, Louisiana, this former antebellum plantation is haunted not only by spirits but by history as well. . . When talking about being sad that Halloween was over, a friend of the show reminded us that Samhain is through November 1st. Samhain (pronounced Sah-win or Sow-en) is a Gaelic celebration of the end of harvest and the start of coldest part of the year. Also called the “darker” part of the year. Samhain is considered the spiritual new year and it’s also nicknamed the “The Witches New Year”. It is also considered a festival of the dead and during the time of Samhain it’s said the veil between the living and the dead was at its thinnest. Many of the rituals of the holiday include celebrating, communicating with and honoring the dead. Celebrating around a bonfire, Celtics danced in tradition costumes. Their dances told stories of the cycle of life and death. While Samhain and Halloween are different holidays, you can’t discuss the history of Halloween without mentioning Samhain. . .
