so many queer ppl will be like "deviating from social norms is part of who we are" and then gleefully participate in fatphobia/diet culture and nearly make being skinny an entire ideology and identity

Natalie Portman being confused by the fact that you have to say “hi” to someone before starting a conversation in France got me like ?????

I hate that planned obsolescence is starting to reach fandoms. I hate that fandoms are starting to die after two, three years, I hate that whenever you stop getting content that means the fandom will die and be gone.
I need people to stop trying to brush off old interests as being 'cringe' as soon as you lose interest, or worse: make it seem like it's imoral to like something that they themselves held so dear before.
Fandoms are meant to last for years and years, the moment content stops being created is the moment we truly thrive because we keep creating the content ourselves the way we love it and expand on the things that are already there for us.
I don't care if you lost interest on something, it's fine and normal even, but stop trying to blame and make fun of people who still do love the fandom and the content and the things we can create.
I need people to enjoy fandom again

the fact that "eco" and "ethical" are two separate concerns in the global north, and that "eco" is a much more popular concern, with many "eco" products being made in actual sweatshops, is a big part of why i am The Joker

this is your thanksgiving reminder that the chinook tribe is still fighting for federal recognition, which means they are unable to access programs and resources. please take some time today to sign their petition and donate if you’re able to. and if you live in washington or oregon please write to your elected officials.

We’re on to session 2 of grad school - this seems better- but the reality of the amount of worked I’ve signed up for is sinking in.
Sometimes grad school means it’s 10:30 on a Friday night, and you’re watching a lecture in the dark with instant coffee

The quality of the photo here I think really encapsulates how I feel post final #1. On the upside I got an A, but on the downside everything hurts because I'm still recovering.
It did finally feel appropriate for it to be wheeler open book. Like no joke. Because do much of your professional life, especially in tech, actually happens on how swiftly and efficiently you can find and identify the appropriate information

Not me working on my third degree and still not having learned enough time management to not be doing assignments until 2 am the day before they are due.

It’s been years since I’ve written like, a real paper or essay, which is probably actually the better term for this besides paper because it’s only like 2k words. What are the chances I can write a first draft in under 6 hours?

I am about to take a 4 hour midterm exam and honestly that seems fine because like... My high school exams were fairly length as well but the thing that sets this apart is somehow this woman expects us to cite our textbook and I just think that's absurd

Took a day off work to catch up and take an exam thinking 'I will simply get up like I do for work and do school instead'
But I'm so work out I slept an extra hour or so because the issue is having to be at a meeting where other people were expecting me wasn't there to force me out of bed

My go to snack for college was purple doritos and the snack gods have done me a disservice and discontinued them so now I’m sitting, at 11 at night, with nothing but a bowl of sadness to keep my reading company.
That sadness is popcorners or whatever they’re called in sweet chili but they’re just a poor pretender for the purple dorito.

Absolutely wild that the midterm is a 4 hour cited essay based test. Is this the SAT?? Maam this is an entry level course meant to ease fucking history students into tech it’s not that serious and neither is the material.

Two things:
Why the fuck would you schedule a quiz and a midterm in the same grading week
In what world, even academic world, do you expect people to be citing their textbooks??????? Is this normal? Someone please tell me. Not like, a book on a hyper specific topic or a collection of essays. No, like and 'introduction to Enterprise architecture's meant to teach the foundations of the field. Why.

I cannot even believe this woman played a video titled 'Millennials in the workplace, a generation of weakness' and had the audacity to ask why I thought it was condescending

Ok ok ok this is a real question, I would like a big grown up academic to answer it for me. What is the actual, intended purpose of a master’s degree? For someone ‘in the know’, what does a Master’s mean? Like, you meet someone, you see their credentials, if you know the real purpose of the degrees, what does them having that secondary degree communicate to you?
Because no shit, my understanding and expectation was that a masters degree implied a deeper level of understanding and higher degree of specialization within a field. So, for instance, someone with a masters in Comp Sci should be able to go beyond general theory or practice, and tell me more about architecture or memory implications, or performance, or whatever. Someone with a master’s in English knows more than someone with a bachelor’s in English on writing techniques and rhythms, on communication strategies within literature perhaps, or maybe they just know -a lot- about Jane Austen, because they focused there. In other words, it communicates a degree of Mastery.
SO PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME how the fuck a History major can take the same class as me because we’re starting grad classes as ‘baby’s introduction to the software development process’. Like what the actual fuck

Today's adventure is that class starter two days ago, but one of the professors has not opened blackboard access. While that might be fine for someone who is exclusively a student, I also have a full time job (which is pretty common!) And need to be able to plan accordingly. Even people with full course loads and no job need that. Also, we are paying for access to these materials so why dont we have that access
